Netgear PTV3000 Optimus G Pro - LG Optimus G Pro

Purchased Netgear Push2TV PTV3000 today at Best Buy despite many negative reviews because Netgear site demonstrated the product with Optimus G -figured it must work with my G Pro. Downloaded 2.2.16 firmware upgrade, extracted bin file and uploaded to the device. . . works great . .really not much lag and no stutter so far..

This has to be connected to the internet to talk to the device right? I don't have home internet but would love to be able to do wireless mirroring.

No, the device doesn't need to connect to the internet. However, the connection between the PTV3000 and the handset is through WiFi. Regular WiFi to get internet to work still works but WiFi Direct and WiFi hotspot will have to deactivated. I had a Samsung AllShareCast Dongle. It would only work with Samsung devices so I gave it to my sister. I bought the PTV3000 instead. It works with my Note 10.1, Galaxy S4, Nexus 4, and the Optimus G Pro.

Hi does the netgear device allow streaming of google play content? Cuz the price is noice

sounds like one of these things:
you're connected to a crappy router (like an Amped branded router). i have an Asus (NT-N66U) and a Linksys (WRT54G) that doesn't have those wireless problems.
you MAY have a faulty phone. emphasize on MAY.
you're out of range.
the antennas on the router isn't putting out a strong signal anymore because it's dying.
my money is on the wireless router you're running. if its not the hardware of the router itself, then its the crappy firmware on it (which might be remedied by DDWRT or Tomato, which can also boost the signal output in exchange for more heat/shortened lifespan).
Are you using the 5G wireless band (if your router even has it)? I've have nothing but problems using my 5G band on my Galaxy S3 and now my Note II. Like you, it connects and disconnects often, sometimes multiple times a minute.
I switched to the standard wireless band and I no longer have any problems. Honestly don't know if it's my router (Netgear N600) or something with the Samsung phones. The only other device I have that sees the 5G connections is my laptop and I have no problems remaining connected to that.
No issues n here

Does ip5 require a tethering plan with your carrier to be able to do Bluetooth tethering?
Sent from my Nexus 7
I had tethering on my ip5 with my grandfathered unlimited data plan from at&t... Now i have that same grandfathered plan on my galaxy s4 and i tether through wifi all the time, but i can't get it to work through Bluetooth.
I've been trying to BT tether on my S3 and it pairs but it won't stay connected. It just connects for less than a second.

BT tethering sucks up much less battery than wifi tethering? (dont tether much, but this would be useful to know)
Yes, low power bluetooth would waste much less battery to both the tablet and the phone. Also with Bluetooth it wouldn't broadcast a wireless SSID which is better when I'm around other people looking for internet.
Aren't there speed issues with Bluetooth? Anyone know the max speed rate?
Update
Bluetooth is limited to 1.5mbps without the BT3.0 HS speed boost, which... uses BT to just establish an AdHoc WiFi network to do the dirty lifting.
So not sure if using Bluetooth is even lower powered if it activates both radios, unless, of course, you're fine using 1.5mbps.
I'm no expert in the dark arts of Bluetooth spec, but I'm pretty sure how this works and the article I just found kinda confirms that. Doesnt BT4 further the use of WiFi radios for faster speeds? Bluetooth just becomes the authentication method vs a traditional SSID and password. Bluetooth passes the needed info so the other device can find it.
I've been using WiFi tethering on my Nexus Galaxy and N7 with no problem. Range is also better. So I crank up 4G, WiFi tethering, and plug it into a wall.

[Q] Netgear push2tv 3000 issues with android 4.3

Hi, I bought a netgear push2tv 3000 for 60$ in US. I am using this device in India. I was able to connect my phone to my Samsung LCD using the wireless display feature & netgear push2tv 3000 device.
I recently upgraded my phone to android 4.3 & since then am not able to connect my phone to my TV through the wireless display feature.
I tried upgrading the firmware of the netgear device to the latest version but no luck so far. My Samsung galaxy tab 510, which runs on android 4.2 works well with the netgear push2tv 3000 device.
Can someone help me with some tips & tricks? I believe that netgear hasn't released the firmware upgrade for Android 4.3.
Any support or help would be highly appreciated.
Thanks - Badri.

[Q] how do i do screen mirroring without wifi

I do not have Internet or wifi at my house but i would like to stream my phone on to my hdtv. Chromecast needs a wifi router are there any other options? I tried my old mhl adapter but could never get it to work with my note 2 either

If rooted, you can could turn your Note4 into a router with something like WiFi Tether Router. You'll need a PC or another mobile device that's compatible with Chromecast for this option. If you still have the Note2, I would use that for the router.
As for your MHL adapter, I'm guessing you have a 5pin version. If true, you need to get a 5pin-11pin adapter to get it working. They're pretty cheap at Monoprice.com., which can probably be found on Amazon.
