galaxy s4 m919 camera problem how to solve ?
when i try to open camera just show black screen and nothing else.... just front camera open
please help me how to solve this problem
Please be very descriptive when posting if you want to be helped.... At all. In other words, please add what ROM you're using... Be it stock, CyanogenMod or other ROM. What date build are you on? Things like that help a lot.
If you haven't tried it already and are on a custom ROM, try clearing cache 3x, dalvik cache 3x in twrp or other recovery then rebooting. Maybe upgrade your ROM. This is all common knowledge though. If you are unfamiliar with any of this then read a whole bunch. People post how to fix things all the time. I don't care if you've read a billion posts or not, because you've been lazy on the reading if you don't already know this.
But trust me on being descriptive when you post, because help me posts get reported when they're not very helpful to the developers. In other words... You gotta help me... To help you. :thumbup:

Samsung Galaxy S4 camera problem.
I feel the same camera problem. When I try to open my camera application and other camera related apps like Optical Reader, Instagram, Neo Reader, Goggles etc it shows a black screen first and not responding for long time. It make hangs the all system. But possible to take good picture if I wait for a long time. after that it work perfectly .
I clear the camera cache, change storage from SD card to Device. Not yet try Restore factory setting. Is any one have suggestion please help.

I guess a "factory reset" would be the next step to take.
I'd do a wipe, and try a different Rom.

sorry guys, since i couldn't post my problem on the development section, i posted my question here.
I am running CyanogenMod 10 Nightlies 4.1.2. I noticed the photos i take with the stock camera app cannot be seen. The photos seem to be fine when i use a third party app (Pudding camera).
Is this a known issue? i am just asking around to confirm if its a problem with the ROM and not an outcome of my stupidity. Otherwise its a brilliant ROM. thanx.

No, it's not a known problem, at least I don't have it.
They don't appear at all in the gallery app?
Go to application manager (rough translation)
Clear data from these apps:
Gallery
Media storage
Then reboot and you should be fine.

Hey I have a simular problem...when I snap a photo its stays completely black...can't see or even use it in another application. Using Jellybean 4.2.2 and switched to 4.1.2. Tried clearing data same issues picture just shows up place when I try to look at it it closes the app. Can anyone assist me....(yes I know I am a noob and the answer is somewhere but I cannot find it) I am capable just don't know much about the camera issue.

Solved the problem...installed and factory reset a couple times and when i was ask to put location of picture I said no

I have been having problems with connecting to the main camera. With several different ROMs I'm having this issue. jaydub's official PACMAN, Jedi SOA, etc. One person in a thread told me to google "camera won't load t889" and look for a link to xda. Well I have searched google and xda for that and many different other phrases to try and find the file I have to save to my sdcard from a TW ROM or stock in-order to get my camera working on other ROMs again. I love the phone and screen size. I enjoy using the camera to capture moments of my kids, but it has been a major problem as of late. PLLLLEASSEEEE help.
Post link to thread, or google link, or something please. Maybe even the file I need to copy. If this is taken care of in another thread I apologize for I couldn't find it. Please post it's link if that's the case.

I have a similar issue on AOSP ROMs. Like every other day, my phone will be unable to connect to camera, a simple reboot fixes it, go figure.

Aren't bugs supposed to be posted in the dev forum? To me the Q&A forums should be like "How do I find the freaking developement options" or "What is ART". Seems silly to have a Q&A about a rom thats in developement.

New bugs that haven't been reported 100 times already, and that come with and ONLY THAT COME WITH a logcat showing the log of error should be posted in development forum.
Silly or not, this is a strategy for moving non development questions out of dev threads that has proven effective on XDA and that has specficially been appreciated by Albinoman since he started building CM for the HTC Sensation over a year ago.
This will also hopefully cut down on the number of "Wow! This ROM is awseome!" posts that litter development threads and make it hard to find real issues. Because he is a particularly awesome Developer, Albinoman gets quite a bit of those. Posts like that and repeat reports of known bugs, and even reports that say "everything works great" do little more than bury useful development related posts that would be useful to a developer. Albino has previously expressed his frustration over this in other threads.
So please, everyone please use this thread for all the questions, reports of smooth operation, and appreciate posts about how awesome Albino is.
And for that matter, (this is directed at everyone) if you all really love Albino's work so much, toss him a few bucks. He has worked countless hours trying to sort out everything from major issues to tiny annoying bugs to keep your phones running far better than they did on the day you first took them out of the box. Send a buck or two (Or twenty!) his way to thank him for his hard work.

So I downloaded 11/13 and so far the only thing that I can't get to work is the auto rotate function. I tried to change it in stetting by turning it on and off by that has not seemed to get it to work. Any ideas?
Lastly I was playing a games (Clash of Clans) before I flashed my phone i backed up everything via titanium backup, once I got done flashing and installed the game with data it wouldn't start were I had left off. It just wanted to initiate a new game. Could this be due to compatibility with the game on 4.4? Or am I just doing something wrong?

I don't think Titanium works with 4.4 yet. So any of your save data in Titanium will not be able to be restored....yet. Ephisis on yet.

If it can be done go to Camera, hit the menu button, and look for the settings menu in there. (It's all icons so I can't tell you what anything is called.)
But that option may not be added to the camera yet.
When I was on the SGS4G forums we put questions in its own Q&A thread and it worked really well.
BTW anyone else having issues with the sound search widget?

Titanium worked fine for me. Also time is updating right and Wi-Fi is working great. Only issue I have is the green lines on my ffc.

Are you to running ART or Dalvik? Titanium will not work using ART. Many bugs going on with ART as it is experimental and it had been recommended by all the developers I've seen to stick to dalvik for now

Mute not working
I am unable to post in the dev thread as I do not have a high enough post count but I am having issues with mute on the ROM. While on a call if I push mute, the button lights as if it is muted but I have confirmed that it does not actually mute anything. This can be rather awkward to say the least. Looking through the dev thread, I saw one or two people mention the same issue but it seems to have gotten buried in all the other posts.
Anyone have any ideas or can we get this added to the bug list?
one suggested solution is formatting the SD card to vFat
I formated my SD card to vfat but still won't show up.I guess any other suggestions would be appreciated. But not a big deal to me

Did you mean that you aren't able to access external SD?
If so, I had the same problem until I updated to 11-15. Think it was fixed in update.
BTW, remember to change File Manager access mode (File Manager app - in general settings) make sure to change from Safe Mode to Enable Root Access Mode.
I thought the ROM still had that bug until I found root access option lol.

Do that plus the volume down. Was just messing with different combos.
Does anyone have a workaround for the proximity sensor issue while in calls? When a call is dialed and sent the screen turns off and you are unable to use the dial pad while in call. I believe it was also mentioned in the other thread.

Its possible that its not a rom issue. The proximity sensor on the S4 is known to foul easily from dust.
But it also cures easily by hitting it with compressed air into the speaker grill. Its certainly worth a try.

My camera (rear camera) is completely black when I open the app. Anybody else? There doesn't appear to be anything blocking the lens that I can see.
This is not enough information to help you out. Please include if you are rooted and tried to apply Camera Mod or anything else that you tried changing which is causing this behaviour or if you have dropped it. If none of this applies then you can always take it back to where it came from. Apparently the camera went bad (hardware) on you.
I believe this should be placed in the QnA section you may have better chance there!
On the other note, try clearing out the data and cache of the camera app and force close, reboot and try again. Never know!

I can't use any of the three buttons. Occasionally back works but that's it. It's quite the annoyance, as I am really struggling to exit apps when I need to or to quickly change from apps via the recent button.
※ Booted the phone in safe mode - same problem.
※Wiped cache and dalvik, same problem
Updated to OB2 and still not working. Not working with stock kernel, blu-spark, or Ex kernel. I also cannot access settings from the settings cog on the dashboard. Can't find much about this anywhere else. Reflashed Stock ROM several times and to to avail. Can anybody give me any pointers?
Also can't use the stock phone properly. When incoming calls come in there's no option to answer the call, my ringtone goes off but that's all. Also when I make calls the call UI doesn't appear either. Is it looking like a restore to factory settings job?

As for your issue. I would strongly recommend making a backup of your important files such as photos and then doing a clean flash of your rom
