[Q] Issues placing calls / sending sms 4.2.2 - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi all,
I have updated to the stock Google 4.2.2 when it became available, and since then I have been having problems placing calls / sending text messages. When I try to dial, the dialer just hangs there for about 30 seconds and than disconnects. I also have to resend messages multiple times. Sometimes connection disappears completely. At other times I have LTE and can stream music, but calls will not come through. Rebooting it fixed the issue for a short period of time.
Currently, I am running LiquidSmooth after a clean reinstall. Everything works, however the calling / texting problem persists as described above.

I noticed that according the XDA wiki the baseband is (I515.09 V.FK01 / I515.FK02). I however have I515.10. Could this be the issue?
Thanks

Thanks for that; However even with an older radio, after a dalvik / cache clean, the problem still exists.

I've tried at least 5 radios to date, same issue with all. Currently with I515.10 V.FF02 I515.FG02, still a problem.

CM10 LTE Nightly Question

Anyone know what Nightly LTE works on? I reverted back to 9 25 to get bluetooth working but I cant seem to find one to get LTE back.
Thanks.
I was on the last unofficial nightly 8-15 and it was working. I believe it has been working on all of the official nightlies.
It works-ish.
Unless you have consistent LTE signal everywhere you go, it will sometimes get stuck when switching between 3g and LTE. Toggling airplane mode typically fixes it, though I have been stuck even after that before, and it required a reboot.
I noticed that it connected, blue bars, for a second or two then it disconnects, grey bars.
I'm going to try 10 2 and see if LTE works.
It worked when I was in Baltimore for a bit

Still no luck. Is there something that I'm missing?

How is this overlooked in every aosp rom?? This has been well documented, it is a bug. The hand off between lte and 3g is sporadic.

I did a factory reset and 4G seems ok now. It does drop now and then, once in ~20 hours, but like Felnarion said airplane mode fixed it.

The problem will come back. For me, it comes back, and I can't seem to get it to reconnect to 4g without a factory reset.

The phone itself doesn't connect to eHRPD at all, which is the technology used to transition between EvDo and LTE smoothly. I haven't seen the cm10 support it yet, which is why the handoffs are all messed up.

Weird Problem on my SGSIII

I seem to have the weirdest problem with my phone. After upgrading to jellybean, I've come across times where as I'm on my phone, using Bluetooth, the phone would reset. However, when the phone boots back up, the call resumes and I can continue my conversation. The call didn't drop. Also, if I'm doing something on the phone (ie, send a text message) when I switch between Wi-Fi and network, the phone freezes and I have to do a battery pull to fix it.
I took it to Sprint and the tech couldn't find anything wrong. Any help world be greatly appreciated.
I'm running an unrooted, stock version.

Only thing I could think of would be a factory data reset (which will erase everything).

Have you tried rooting it today and running FreeGS3 rom? see if that will fix it....
I had this issue when running the 10/31 kt kernel for aosp with cm10. Funny side story, I was on a conference call using a Bluetooth headset and I was muted via the dialer. I walked into a bathroom stall, started to go number 1 loudly and carelessly when my phone appeared to reboot. It didn't and it came back, on the call, unmuted. Needless to say I had to do some pinching in a hurry.
I switched kernels and the problem went away. What was unique about that kernel was that it used the latest wifi driver. I haven't tried a kernel with that driver since. Maybe you could try to downgrade your official rom and see if that helps but if try a factory reset first before doing that.

Thanks y'all. I'll try a factory reset first and see if that helps. It's good to know that I wasn't the only one having this problem.

Yes. Started after 4.2 on both of my GNex.

This has happened previously even before 4.2. Probably just some issues on Google's end. Not seeing it as often as last time anyway.

Update: Went into my Google account section through the setting page and at the bottom it says - "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly" < Didn't see that message before. I guess Google is aware of it.

It is not connected to the 4.2 update. I started having the issue yesterday and it is random. My girlfriend has a G2X(rooted running HFP 1.9) and she is getting the same messages. It must be something on Google's end. Last time I saw the error was early this morning. Haven't seen it since today. It may be fixed already
I had it too as EDGE won't work. After configuring the AP's properly I could sign in from the setting menu
Had it on my Galaxy Nexus for a day or two, but it seems to be gone now. Most likely a Google related issue on their end then the issue being our phones and 4.2.

Found this thread through googling "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly", after I noticed that my Galaxy Nexus was missing from my "My Android Apps" list in Google Play. Then I found the sync error message in the Google Account on my phone.
Just when I was writing this, I checked the Play Store, and it seems that the Galaxy Nexus is back, but the error is still there. And I still haven't got the 4.2 update.

Facebook showing GPS usage when it's disabled (4.2.1)?

Why does the GPS area in the screenshot show over 90 minutes of usage when I have GPS turned off? Any ideas?

Facebook has been long known to be a poorly coded app (even the newest version) I've stuck to using the browser only because it's so buggy. I'd chalk it up to that...
Turn location off inside settings of app.

The lastest build of their app is by far the worst I have used personally. Someone posted an older build which does not have as many features, but it is way less buggy.
LMK if you want a link.

That's exactly what was happening with my phone. I've been using the app that dschreiber69 provided earlier in this thread, but because Facebook eats so much battery on this phone I haven't been using it much anymore. Furthermore, I haven't been using Facebook much on either my phone or a computer. I'm getting sick of it, same crap every day. Nothing new. Blah.

Wifi Calling workaround - malformed caller ID (;63)

I've tried a few custom ROMs like Wicked and Jedi and they both seem to have the same problem; when I get an incoming call while on Wifi-calling the incoming number is truncated and has a ";63" at the end so it doesn't match my contact info and it comes up as unknown. I don't get a lot of phone calls, mostly texts, so I am not sure if it happens on every ROM.

It is a Wifi Calling bug in the Note 3. There's a workaround that I'm using and works well. Download Prefixer from the market and create a rule for ";63" and it will delete the ";63", this will allow to get the contact info from the Address Book as its supposed.

Nope, not new, just haven't come across this issue until today and I didn't see any specific thread on the problem. I usually keep Wifi Calling on cellular preferred so I guess that's why I haven't seen it yet.

It works! Thanks!
It was been working for me for over a week, but I just got a call and it was malformed again. I am at a loss.
