I used to get LTE on the google edition s4 rom, but then around 1 or 2 days ago, it just switched to 3G and HSPA I made a nandroid backup of stock, so i restored stock and the second i turned it on, i saw the 4G LTE icon. help?
That's sucks, man. I have not had any problems with data connectivity/speeds since I flashed the GE ROM on my GS4.
I would say, just reflash and after that, reboot and then flash the latest ktoon kernel. I'm running "3.4.0-KT-SGS4-g85d3e61" (the TouchWiz version). Be sure the wipe your cache after flashing both and fix permissions after flashing the kernel.
Hope that helps.

I had this happen to me also. Went days without LTE. Last night I made a backup and reflashed the rom, wiped cache and dalvik and fixed permissions, and now I have LTE again. Your results may vary but it's worth a shot, and I didn't have to lose any data.

After flashing cm10 m2 on a galaxy s3, the phone no longer has lte on it and has been constantly switching between hspa and 3g. I've tried changing APN setting but that didnt help.
Someone please help me get lte back on this phone thanks!

Did you try using your data connection? Usually it'll drop back from LTE when you're not using it to save battery.
OP, please read this: Click me!
Worked for me each time I flashed a different AOSP ROM and I'm in an area of spotty LTE coverage.
I am still having issues with this despite that other link. It was working fine right before the flash... Any other ideas as to how to get my data back. .. What "Network Mode" should I be in? I have 2 choices that look the same...Neither of them are working though...
P.S. I have no Data at ALL... Is that normal. I am using CM10 and flashed with GooManager
Do you still have your IMEI?
I have suddenly been having problems with my 3g. I look at the symbol in the status bar and it will upload but it will not download. It's almost like the code is stuck in a loop. It will randomly start to work again for awhile and then act up later. I have wiped dalvik, cache, and I even reflashed my ROM (FREE GS3). I updated profile and PRL. That was even a problem because I would get an error since it wouldn't download. Before I flash back to stock and call sprint, does anybody have any ideas? One other note. I have driven through LTE areas and both downloads and uploads work with no problem.

Have you tried going back to complete stock unroofed.

Not yet. I'm trying to see what else I can do first

Before reflashing call Sprint and see if they are doing tower improvements, this can cause that when they are working in things
I'm going to flash stock and unroot to see if that helps. I work 75 miles from my house and have experienced the problem at homd and at work so I'm pretty sure it's not a tower issue.

Try updating PRL and Profile then restart the phone? That may help, I mean if it does then you just saved like an hour of resetting and restoring. If it doesn't then you just wasted maybe 2 minutes.

I've tried this with the exception of rebooting my phone right afterwards. I just updated my PRL but I could not update my profile. I got an error. I'm running out of options
I appreciate everybody's help though.

Sprint GS3 FAQ THREAD
Happens to me when I shut off data for any length of time....I just reboot...and it works fine
I called Sprint and they couldn't fix it. I switched the network mode to CDMA from CDMA/LTE and it worked flawlessly. I don't know what that means but something told me my LTE and 3G weren't playing nicely. Whenever I go through a 4G area, it works to perfection. Then I get back in a 3G area and back to the same old thing.
I forgot to mention I flashed to stock unrooted and it seemed to function better but the problem still existed.

I have the same problem I have no idea what to do. I have a custom ROM the only way I get it to work is when I toggle Data on and off really fast. I didn't try the CDMA only though. Either way it's no excuse why our phone's are acting like this.
There was a DATA_HANDOFF.ZIP floating around somewhere....it was made for AOSP but if you make a backup and flash it, it might do some good
I had the same problem. In your phone key pad enter ##72786#. Its going to do hands free activation, prl update, profile update, firmware update (at that point you can cancel)

Same thing started happening to me a couple weeks ago. Tried everything. Only "fix" was setting network to CDMA only. Frustrating.

Dumb question but have you checked your network settings. If you backed up your stock rom restore it and see if you get 4g again

Just make sure you follow all THREE steps. People have a habit of completing one step of injecting the IMEI and thinking that's all you need to do.

Trust me bro, you can. Just follow through slowly and you'll fine. To make life easier, go back to Touch Wiz and just take it line by line.
You were capable of rooting and flashing, you can pull this off.

Also lost 4G
After rooting and flashing Dev-3.22.1540.1-Stock-Rooted-DE-ODEX.zip ROM I lost 4G. The best I could manage is 3G. Now I flashed latest Viper ROM, but still no 4G.
Any idea why?
(I checked APN, it's something else).

I'm having the same issue. When I go back to my orginial rooted backed up CWM KK 4.4.2 3G works perfect. Flashed a new ROM APN, IME and even checked *#*#info#*#* all are good. I just can't get 3G.
Any ideas?
This is rom issues/kernel most likely try to Odin please check your provider as well
Some roms/kernels break the service you may use unfortunately
I flashed a couple modems a while back to see if I could find the best one. I don't have 4g where I live but this weekend I'm staying in an area where I've gotten 4g before. My wife currently shows as connected to 4g but I can only get 1-2 bars 3g. I flashed a different modem to see if that was the problem and when I rebooted I had no imei. I restored my twrp backup of stock and it booted and connected to the network still just 3g though. I restored a twrp backup of carbon rom and again no imei. I restored my stock backup again then factory reset and clean flashed carbon. I can get 3g again but still no 4g.
Any ideas?

Are you still in that same area getting no 4g or did you go different places that your wife had 4g and you didn't?
Same general area. She has 4g everywhere we've been today but I cant get it at all.
Sounds like it cause u lost your Imei number.

This is my first post on xda. Ive searched high and low for a solution. I get very poor reception on my note despite my friends having full bars. I understand I wont get full speeds, but shouldnt I atleast get consistent enough reception to talk and text? Ive also popped in an att sim in to confirm it wasnt hardware.....consistent full bars. Ive tried t mobile roms (jedi x), modem flashes and factory resets. This is really stumping me so I would be very gratefull for any advice or suggestions.

I was plagued with weak reception, even got AT&T to send me a MicroCell as calls were dropping at home. I tried rom after rom going from Android 4.1.1 to 4.4.2 and they all had bad reception. I read about people putting wires and things in the external antenna port, but decided against that as I also read that LOTS of people damaged their phone doing that and had to replace the phone. Well, I decided to wipe the phone and normally I wipe Dalvic Cache, Cache, System and Data, then install a new rom...but this time I was going to go back to the original recovery and rom and start all over so I wiped the Internal Cache as well this time, BUT I could not find a stock recovery to install, so I went back to 4.1.1...to my surprise, once I rebooted my reception was strong! I then went back to my nandroid backups and loaded various roms...they were all strong!
Point is, make sure if you are having reception problems to wipe the phone completely (remove your SDCard if you don't want to lose what you have on that) then try reinstalling the rom and see if your reception comes back. Mine has been solid since I wiped the Internal Cache with TWRP and this is the longest I have had good reception in a long time. I am back on Android 4.4.2 and my reception is working great again!
Flash your carrier modem people....done...
And that can even mean a 2 year old modem ....but...
It "must" be the carrier you currently use....g
