I flashed a couple modems a while back to see if I could find the best one. I don't have 4g where I live but this weekend I'm staying in an area where I've gotten 4g before. My wife currently shows as connected to 4g but I can only get 1-2 bars 3g. I flashed a different modem to see if that was the problem and when I rebooted I had no imei. I restored my twrp backup of stock and it booted and connected to the network still just 3g though. I restored a twrp backup of carbon rom and again no imei. I restored my stock backup again then factory reset and clean flashed carbon. I can get 3g again but still no 4g.
Any ideas?

Are you still in that same area getting no 4g or did you go different places that your wife had 4g and you didn't?
Same general area. She has 4g everywhere we've been today but I cant get it at all.
Sounds like it cause u lost your Imei number.

Sometimes my phone, even when there definitely is signal, would say searching for signal. It would take a couple reboots before I get my signal back. Even tried manual registration, it would get stuck registering on the tmobile network. Im running darkside v8, could anyone help with this annoying issue?
Flash another radio?

Trying lc8 radio , hope this solves the issue

For Darkside ICS roms, you need to use their modded radios, if you don't flash theirs, you will get data and signal issues. Check their thread for downloads.
I tried this , still didn't help. I switched to cm9 and installed the recommended uvle1 radio , and I still had the same problem. Either I had to manually register on T-Mobile or keep rebooting until signal came back (I'm in a full signal area)

I'm pretty certain this is an ics issue for some people. I had same thing last night, flashed gb, instant signal. If yours is consistent then I suggest running logcat to see what android is doing .

My wifes is doing the same thing. It hasn't ever been rooted. Sometimes all she can get is E or G and then it drops. We have 3G area but it doesn't pick it up. Maybe I need to root it and flash a new radio. Any thoughts would be great. Thanks

Hmmm strange , actually, mines worked fine before I upgraded to an ics rom , either cm9 or darkside evo . No signal drops whatsoever , not sure what's going on now , sim card seems to be fine , no drops In a froyo sidekick 4g

A strange update on this thread, my problems with signal loss are now gone now that I'm on cm10
Edit: when it boots I have to make sure its 2g/3g setting otherwise it boots with no signal

Disregard what I said in my previous post, I'm really hoping for a real solution/possible flaw with my gs2. I had to move my sim in my sidekick 4g, because my gs2 didn't seem to pick up any signal, and registering on the network would take forever . This is the biggest problem I have with my gs2. I can't always be moving my sim to the sk4g everytim my gs2 doesn't want to pick up signal, its very inconvenient. If it helps at all, I've had this issue every since I've gone beyond gb (this only seems to happen in ics and jb)

Can someone please tell me what network settings should the galaxy note be on to get 4g?
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk 2
What area are you in and you know for sure you have lte? It should be on automatic or CDMA/lte
Well, what happened was last night I was at home and I think it was set to CDMA, but I looked in the status bar and it said 4g clear as day (with data) and I was shocked. I'm in Chattanooga tn. It kept switching from 3g to 4g.

This is my first post on xda. Ive searched high and low for a solution. I get very poor reception on my note despite my friends having full bars. I understand I wont get full speeds, but shouldnt I atleast get consistent enough reception to talk and text? Ive also popped in an att sim in to confirm it wasnt hardware.....consistent full bars. Ive tried t mobile roms (jedi x), modem flashes and factory resets. This is really stumping me so I would be very gratefull for any advice or suggestions.

I also had my t-mobile sim replaced to confirm it wasnt the sim card. I also popped my friends sim who had full bars on his s3 in my note. He also had little to no reception

I have the same issue. I'm wondering if flashing a tmobile modem will fix the issue.

I was plagued with weak reception, even got AT&T to send me a MicroCell as calls were dropping at home. I tried rom after rom going from Android 4.1.1 to 4.4.2 and they all had bad reception. I read about people putting wires and things in the external antenna port, but decided against that as I also read that LOTS of people damaged their phone doing that and had to replace the phone. Well, I decided to wipe the phone and normally I wipe Dalvic Cache, Cache, System and Data, then install a new rom...but this time I was going to go back to the original recovery and rom and start all over so I wiped the Internal Cache as well this time, BUT I could not find a stock recovery to install, so I went back to 4.1.1...to my surprise, once I rebooted my reception was strong! I then went back to my nandroid backups and loaded various roms...they were all strong!
Point is, make sure if you are having reception problems to wipe the phone completely (remove your SDCard if you don't want to lose what you have on that) then try reinstalling the rom and see if your reception comes back. Mine has been solid since I wiped the Internal Cache with TWRP and this is the longest I have had good reception in a long time. I am back on Android 4.4.2 and my reception is working great again!
Flash your carrier modem people....done...
And that can even mean a 2 year old modem ....but...
It "must" be the carrier you currently use....g

I used to get LTE on the google edition s4 rom, but then around 1 or 2 days ago, it just switched to 3G and HSPA I made a nandroid backup of stock, so i restored stock and the second i turned it on, i saw the 4G LTE icon. help?
That's sucks, man. I have not had any problems with data connectivity/speeds since I flashed the GE ROM on my GS4.
I would say, just reflash and after that, reboot and then flash the latest ktoon kernel. I'm running "3.4.0-KT-SGS4-g85d3e61" (the TouchWiz version). Be sure the wipe your cache after flashing both and fix permissions after flashing the kernel.
Hope that helps.

I had this happen to me also. Went days without LTE. Last night I made a backup and reflashed the rom, wiped cache and dalvik and fixed permissions, and now I have LTE again. Your results may vary but it's worth a shot, and I didn't have to lose any data.

OK this is pissing me off so much but I used to have 4g then it went out and had 3g it would do that like every 2 weeks and now (I know it sounds weird) I have to bring the 4g in like if I go to the corner block and pick up 4g and go back to my house it will stay till new reboot then I will go back to 3g I just want to know what's going on? Is there a fix ? Or is it normal
Also I have 2 more questions
How the hell to I fix the lost and found error on twrp? It bothers me
And finally I can't transfer my back up to my laptop like only 2 files will copy I can't also transfer it to my SD card it says root permissions required!
Thanks in advance if u reply ^_^

Well first of all Sprints 4G coverage is rather spotty right now since they are still making progress on their massive network upgrade. So yes it is probably normal.
I am not sure of the error you speak of in TWRP but I am sure if you ODIN back to stock and re root and install TWRP again everything will be fine.
And I assume the backup transfer issue is also related to the problem you are having with TWRP.
Instead of walking down the street to pick up the 4g have you tried just toggling airplane mode on and off and seeing if it picks up the 4g.

Yeah I have tried airplane mode and I don't go down the street to pick it up im just saying when I walk back from the store I pick it up

It's just because Sprint is making incredibly large expansions in their LTE department.
