my wife just got her htc one x today. opened it up, turned it on.....phone turned off while she was putting in her account details. when turned back on its stuck on the boot screen and saying its for developers only. any way to fix this? when plugged in theres no charging light or anything. please help
anyone? really wanna know if i'll need a replacement before i've even got to use it
Press and hold the power button and volume button till you get to the hboot screen. Tell me what it says there, either 'locked,' 'relocked,' or 'unlocked.' And whether it says S OFF or S ON below it. Tell me this and I'll tell you how to fix it

When there is a saying for developers only in red color, it means that One X is not a brand new, someone already unlock the bootloader and flash an old version of CWM on it. It is best to get a replacement if you meant to buy a brand new device.
And it get stuck on boot screen due to low battery.

Or, it could be that the person relocked the bootloader while on a custom ROM. But like the OP said, it randomly rebooted, WHILE it was being used. @OP, try running an RUU after checking if the bootloader is locked/relocked

sorry for late replies guys. yes to confirm it was brand new, just out of the box for a minute, bought from dial a phone in the uk which is a big retailer. it came sim free as most of their phones do. Simply opened the box, turned on and it turned off during the input of details, ie our wifi password to be exact.
After that came the red writing with developers only, now nothing. been on the charge all day, still no charging light. tried the wall socket, tried via usb to 2 pc's, and the volume/power thing doesn't work either. how long should we need to hold it to do that?

Hold volume down and power for about 10-15 secs.

Hold power and volume down for a while, phone will boot into bootloader, what does it say exactly?
Sounds like you may have got a test device by accident, not necessarily a bad thing if you plan to custom rom?

tried it guys for 15 secs at least with no joy. seems to be dead. no charging light. seems quite a few people have seen the red writing. not into custom roms really as it'll be for my wife and she likes stock.

Oh, so its not booting into bootloader because batterys dead xD
Power the phone off, plug it into a wall charger, and leave it for atleast a few hours, it'll charge, and then boot it into bootloader and tell us what it says

i'm so frustrated right now.
i've got this phone yesterday , this is not a brand new product.
It was running ICS from beginning, after that i tried to firgure out how to upgrade to JB, and finally i've choosed OTA update because it was safe until.......
It was good on first time upgrading, until the second (more than 100mb upgrade pack) then boot loop all time. I didn't know why it was happen, but i reminded that in my one x storage also have a .zip file name viper_something.zip , so it make me relate to the viper custome rom on the forum that i've seen last nite.
So maybe the problem was that i've tried use OTA upgrade on the custome ROM that i didn't know , and that was more terrible when my phone was out of batterry, it can't charge althought i've tried something before it was out.
i was tried to fastboot erase cache when my phone just had little energy, erase cache process was complete but nothing change.
I also went to fastboot and choose power down my phone, then pluge charge (follow by a member on the forum) , and after one nite charging, it was do nothing.
Now my phone just have blink red light and seem like it won't be charge.
So what should i do next ? i also tried to firgure out the similar problem on the forum but i can't firgured out. Have any idea for the solution. I can't believe my phone was dead after one day used.
If you're charging the phone on VERY LOW battery, the red light will blink. After some time it becomes stable.

how long does it take stable bro?
Is your charger plugged into an outlet or computer?? When charging your phone from a dead or soon to be dead state, always use a physical outlet. Like the other post mentioned if battery is fully dead or very low red LED light will flash for awhile with my past experience.

Try leaving it to a WALL OUTLET for over 12hrs... Let us know if it works.

Hi guys,
My HTC One X shut off yesterday mysteriously and won't turn on, there is also no red light when plugged into a charger, the phone just seems to be dead. I have tried to hold the volume down button and the power button for up to two minutes and nothing happens to reset it! Please help if you can, thanks in advance!
try with some other a/c adapter, or just other usb cable.
I tired changing adapters and the cable but no luck.

Same query...I got my new HTC one x a day before (from grey mkt). Day 1, it was running smoothly...after installing few apps from play store, next day it went dead....now nothing seems to be happening with this new dead brick. No charging, no display.. nothing.....guys pls help
This seems to be all too common and I wonder why HTC hasn't had some sort of recall issued for this? I must say though that I called htc today and they were very pleasant to deal with, I am shipping the phone off to them tomorrow for repairs and will report back on how it goes.
Did u undervolt or tried any type of modifications to systems

i am currnetly using an htc one x, which i havent rooted or flashed yet, 2 days ago the phone just got hung, without me doin anything, i just turned on the phone and it was just........stuck.......then it switched off by itself and switched on again, it went to the htc logo, then switched off again, the same cycle repeated 4-5 times. The battery had abt 76% charge left. Then all of a sudden, it just refused to turn on. I couldnt charge it, the device manager couldnt detect it, and i tried nearly every possible combination of the volume-power buttons, still nothing. I saw somewhere that if u just charge for 1-2 days it'll turn on again, but still no luck.......no response from the comp wen i plug it in.......still running the stock os.........pls help, i have almost lost faith in technology

How log have you had it?
If you can get into the bootloader try a factory reset from there.

Dude, it seems that your battery is flat. I'd suggest charging the phone via a power outlet and not the PC usb. Once you connect the phone to the power outlet you should get a red charging led..
After it's fully recharged, try rebooting..if still the same problem, get into the bootloader and do a factory reset...if still the issue persists, go back to the retailer where you bought this from and get a replacement...

If you're not getting to bootloader and it won't start even after being plugged in so long...you don't have any choice but to seek repair.

Yup, it seems you have faulty mainboard...get it repaired..I wouldn't suggest spending a lot of money on repairing a outdated phone. If the service center is asking for a few hundred $ then scrap it..it's not worth it as you won't get any warranties for the repairs done.....besides, HTC will be stopping support for the phone after the next update to 4.2.2 even though the rest of world is on the latest Android versions...so at best you'll have another 2 more months by when your phone will be really outdated both in terms of hardware and software....
u are better off buying Chinese rip-off phones that have equivalent configs as the One X....sorry to say this..

Hi,
I have a One X which discharged to nothing a few weeks ago last Saturday night/Sunday morning as I was in hospital and my wife was using it to call people.
I had a similar problem in June, once dead it won't take any charge, it won't power up normally and it won't boot up either with the volume down being pressed at the same time.
Nothing lights or flashes, even after 24 hours on charge.
In June I sent it to O2 and it came back fixed, but I've had a conversation today to say the warranty is voided as I've rooted it.
It's been checked by a local repairer and I'm told it's not a battery or charging issue.
Can anyone recommend somebody who does full repairs rather than the usual local screen replacement etc.
Cheers
Darren:crying:
