Hi folks. Last night i backed up my excellent running CleanROM, messed around with a few other ROMs then wanted to go back to my backup. I did a clear and wipe cache of everything and restored the backup. It's really pokey, freezes, and the apps act like I've never opened them. Also as soon as I open the phone apps just start crashing. Any help? Thanks.
Corruption most likely.....try wiping caches in recovery first...and if no joy...
Wipe data/factoy reset...or clean install the rom again....
Also make sure to use the latest recovery versions....g

I will try that and I appreciate your reply. Can you tell me how to get rid of CWM and install TWRP? I've been meaning to do that forever but haven't found a walk through that made sense to me to do so. THanks again.
Flash it with odin

If you are able to get into your OS and can dl goo manager from google play.
You can flash twrp right over cwm.
Youll be glad you did.
TWRP FTW!!
Otherwise like posters above me said flash via odin.

No.
Odin is a tool. ODIN DOES NOT root your device. You use ODIN to root your device.
Same thing as rooting DOES NOT make your device faster. It allows you to run programs/tweaks to make your phone faster.

The only reason I dont do that freak boy, is that I live in canada and for sone reason it installed tolteatt when it shoulda gave me toltecan.
And rooting gives u the ability to read right to the partition.

All done guys. Thanks for the help. I never realized how useful novalauncher's backup was until yeesterday. flashed new version of Cleanrom and restored from Novalauncher backup and everything was just how I had it. Priceless. One thing i still can't get to work is booting to TWRP with button combo of any kind. Help? Thanks to all on the thread.
So are you saying you cant boot to recovery
Edit: does your rom allow you to boot to recovery from the shut down menu?
Also there is only ONE button combo for recovery:
Holding vol up, home and power all at once. Give it a sec or two.

The combo goes in this sequence. . Vol up, home then power.. hold till samsung logo, then release power.

I'm pretty sure he's talking about home screen backup and icon placement as well as widgets. Unless the apps you mention do that too. I haven't had a problem using Nova.

Not sure how it happened...well I do know....Flashed offical CWM for ROM Manager, but didnt think it took because it said I need a CWM compatible kernel. And then i used E4gtauto to add CWM-rogue because i didnt think I had it....so today when i booted into recovery from ROM toolbox, it went to CWM, did a nand and rebooted, but it booted into Rogue...? How can I get rid of one of them?
The nand you restored had a kernel with rogue on it. You should only have rogue on there now.
And I don't know if others feel this way, but I always only use the built in reboot menu or volume and power buttons(from off state) to go into recoveries and download mode, reduces issues

Hello,
Noob here. I've run into this issue with my Nandroid restores where I suddenly lose write permissions. I can still read, but if I try to write anything to the root, I get a insufficient permissions error.
Using CWM 5.0.2.6
SuperSU v.0.87
Clean Stock ICS from KIES
Odin 1.85 Flash CWM
Backup
Root w/ SuperSU v.0.87
Success.
Spend hours upon hours making it perfect V1
Backup Perfect V1
Spend hours upon hours perfecting perfection...
Which leads to imperfection(Deleted necessary System File)
Restore Perfect V1
Write access lost.
Is there a way I can regain the root somehow without a clean install?
Thank you in Advance.
I believe this is a known issue when restoring nandroid back ups. Your only recourse is to reflash the rom and start over.

I just posted this yesterday...use touch recovery and it will work...i went through a lot trying to get this to work yesterday...i thought it was the device management doing it..so after i restored before booting i pulled my Sim and then booted phone froze dm then rebooted with Sim...but once you notice no rw it's to later and you have to start from the backup again...I've used both touch recoveries and they work fine...but cwm 2.6 and 2.7 don't work they also cause my phone to hang when turning off....but this will only work if the backup is right to begin with...

Man, as much as I hate to say this but better you than me.
I would like to say thank you!! I was on 5.2.7 CWM, and I was having this issue, when I updated to 6.x.x and did a restore, I have all of my permissions back, THANK YOU!
I am currently using ClockWorkMod Recovery 6.0.1.2. The last few times I have tried to backup a ROM, I get : Error finding an appropriate backup handler. This happens at the end of the backup after it looks like everything is okay. Does anybody know what this means and how it can be corrected? I don't like flashing new ROM's without doing a Nandroid Backup. Any help would be greatly appreciated.... Thank you!

I agree about TWRP. Boyh are great in their own right, but I prefer TWRP by a longshot! Even has a built in file manager!
Don't worry, we were all nervous our first times!!
Seriously though, only took a few min and I was hooked!
On your problem, does cwm see both int and ext sdcards?
If it comes to it, connect to pc over usb and adb pull both /system and /data. Also internal sd.
At least you'll have some sort of backup and then id suggest odin flashing stock firmware.
Good luck!

Hi All,
Couple days ago I tried to flash my note2 with mobile odin back to stock rom but something went wrong and since I have not been able to get past the welcome screen *Samsung Galaxy Note 2*. I can get into a recovery screen but I am unable to choose a new rom to flash with.
I ve tried to flash it with odin 3.07 and via kies but no joy.
At this stage I am quite desperate to get this resolved. Can anyone help me?
Download correct stock rom to pc. Mount SD Card in recovery. Transfer file. flash from recovery.

True but i had to use Odin and every guideline said the filed had to color yellow while for me it stayed blue but i figured heck at the moment it's just a paperweight so I don't have a lot to loose.
Now Rooting it again and placing my nandroid back up back and I am all sorted.

All started today i woke up this morning and my phone has the pulsing samsung logo and the green led of notification flashing.
I tried to restart it but nothing the same. my phone is charging ok.. and also when i am stuck in samsung logo it vibrates when i push the option button.

or my only option is to restore it.
My phone is rooted 3 months now

u will need flash a custom recovery 1st then will be able to backup,
If you were on stock rom , I've noticed during Boot Loop if you flash the Stock rom will not wipe your data only Messages, contacts and Call log will be wiped.
If you follow my way you won't lose any files.

Firstly, before anyone can truly help you you need to mention your phone setup such as the Rom you're using, rooted/not rooted, etc.
If you're rooted and have a custom recovery then just wipe your system and dalvik cache partition and flash the same Rom again. All your personal files will still be intact.
