Sounds like a defective charger. Does it reach the same temperature if you use
A USB port to charge it?

Hi everyone, I have a bit of a heat problem with my Note II.
I noticed that, whenever I play a resource-intensive game (like Need for Speed: Most Wanted) while my phone is plugged, the phone gets quite hot. Eventually, this will lead to the phone becoming more choppy, even after I've exited the game (like when I'm just browsing my homescreens) until a time when the heat dies and the phone reverts to its normal, snappy self. It sort of reminds me of GPU throttling on PCs whenever I play a very resource-hungry game and the GPU temps go to, like 90 C. I usually just get rid of the GPU overclock and tone down the game's visual settings. Anyway...
I never experience this when my phone is unplugged. Games play smoothly and the phone just becomes warm, not hot.
I find this very annoying and scary at the same time. Is anyone else experiencing this? Any way to get around it? Maybe I should just leave my phone alone while charging, as I usually do...
Thanks for reading.
normal..
Atleast u play games... mine just by sitting idle gets hot/warm when charging...

Hello...I have Battery Booster installed on my Note II, and I notice that during everyday use, I average about 80 degrees F for the battery, but when I use the GPS while driving (both charging and not charging), the battery runs approx 106 degrees F. Battery Booster has a ultility that monitors and displays battery temp. The phone does seem to get very warm during the use of a GPS function. This happens when display is 50-100% setting.
When I'm not using GPS, battery temp seems fine, even when spending long periods of time browsing internet or on conference calls, etc.
Is this something to be concerned about? I love having this as an alternate to my Garmin GPS, as it has more up to date maps and with easy to find destinations via voice, etc.
Thanks!

Hi everyone,
I noticed that my phone often gets uncomfortably warm during use.
I've been using GSam battery pro to look at the battery temperature, and it usually runs between 80 and 100 F.
If I'm using a browser or using it any meaningful way, it usually hovers around 100 F.
Interestingly, the battery also seems to drain more quickly when it gets hot. I'm not sure if that's related to the more intensive cpu usage at that time or the direct effect of great on battery life.
Is this level of warmth normal? Have you all experiences anything similar?
So far, my battery life is shorter and heat is greater than my previous galaxy s3.
Thanks.

This phone's battery doesn't do so well with temperature. When it's hot, as you already noticed, the battery starts draining faster.
Are you running the apps for a long time (without turning off the display)? That could be a major cause, or using the phone while it's charging.
Try to keep this phone in a room-temperature place (not to hot or not to cold), I've noticed, when I was swimming on a hot day, my phone was extremely hot without me even using it. It's weird but try to avoid that, put the phone in a bag or under some clothes!
Hope this helped!

I'd suggest rooting and installing a custom rom. My battery life is better than with the s3. So is the phone gets hot issues.

Go to settings, more, then battery... Take a look what using up the battery. It could be an app or the phone trying to read the sd card.

Thanks for the tips. Sorry for posting in the wrong forum.
I'll try dimming the temps.
I've already looked through battery stats and wakelocks and used Titanium backup to freeze a ton of the junk programs.
I'd love to try a custom ROM but unfortunately need the wifi calling (my work has poor reception but great wifi... )
Got one of the gorilla gadget battery cases and wondering if there is an app you can set up give you a good idea on battery life with both running. like right now the phone says its been off the charger 0 seconds becasue its connected to the case charger but wondering an app that will be able to give you time with both together beyond using the phones internal clock telling me how long the phone has been on I did reboot the phone after I put it in to give me a more accurate time though if thats the only way so be it.

So I was playing the Simpsons tapped out game tonight, a game that usually taxes my phone to the max when I'm playing it so I only play it before bed plugged into a charger. Recently I dropped ktoonsez kernel since it was way behind CM (no disrespect to KT intended), I had it set to throttle the CPU so it wouldn't get past 55C, which is warm to the touch but not ridiculous. CM has no such built in function.
Tonight my phone kept getting hotter and hotter as I played...and suddenly after about 15 or 20 minutes my phone crashed. I was able to immediately boot up with no issues...and I took a look at the CPU temp, after booting it was at 85C!
Is there something wrong here? I know old AMD PC CPUs can climb up to 100C OK but I've never had my phone this hot. It was almost enough to burn my hand through my otterbox case. I know I can probably find some throttling app, which I plan to do soon, but should I be worried about my phone being able to get this hot?
