Here's the camera (and gallery) app from the Google Edition phones, which lets you record and view Photosphere images. The file has been pulled directly from Jerry's GS4 GE system dump, no tampering at all.

Thanks for this! I uninstalled the stock gallery from cm10.1 then installed this apk no problem. It shows as a user app in TiBu. Then, as expected, when installing the latest cm nightly, the stock gallery was back and this app was still there but with some graphical glitches in the interface. So I uninstalled this and renamed the stock gallery to galleryold. I was unable to install this again until I uninstalled the stock gallery. All is fine again but each time I update my nightly, I'll need to uninstall the stock gallery, disabling isn't enough. Do you know how to write a script to stop the gallery being rewritten?

Tapatalked that shiznit.
still the same FC on i9300:
1. Turn on flash
2. focus on something in the near (tap on the screen to focus)
3. Push the button to make a photo.
Result: delayed reaction of the phone, gallery crashes.
Second FC: Scene description (under Settings in camera) is placed wrong
No buddy, as far as i know, have to flash every time

I use Ultimarom v 13. I also asked some friends with stock roms and they get the same behavior as I described
once again: if the flash is set on, tap on the screen (somewhere in the middle), camera should only focus the picture and turn the flash on for this time. Then press the button to make photo..

Notice that the focus ring doesn't turn red when it is out of focus?
Snap something REALLY near, it should turn red but it didn't. Focus ring always show green on mine.
Anyone have this issue?

No one knows for sure.
But I don't recommend this camera app.
Focus ring is bugged. Doesn't display red when out of focus. It's always green, you won't know pic is in focus or not.
Photosphere don't stitch in background. Take 2 photosphere consecutively, the first sphere won't process in background. Overall slower process.
Here is a other thread for AOSP camera and on this post is a link for 4.3 camera with focus fix and other layout http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43100961&postcount=45

You know how everyone is complaining about the camera, mainly because photos come out blurry/not sharp. The thing causing that was VERY slight movement when clicking the button to take the pic. It seemed to come out of focus very easily.
Now, with 4.0.3, I can get sharp pictures even with more movement. It's not so "touchy" anymore and stays in focus.
Anyone else notice?

I hope it's true. There's more than one camera bug.
Im surprised how well it focuses in low light with out flash.

You know they could offer a shooting mode that used the phones sensors to detect camera (phone) movement and hold off the shutter until motion is minimized to improve sharpness. You might want a mode that does this but other modes, like sports, that don't delay the shutter.

Good to hear, what about the white haze when near a window. Now, can anyone recommend a 4.0.3 ROM without any visual mods?

The one I'm using looks like stock, besides the hideous boot animation.

You can change the boot animation yourself. Here's a link to a 720p version of the default ICS animation: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1380655&highlight=animation
EDIT: I've found the 720p version of the original Galaxy Nexus boot animation lags a bit, so if you're not happy with that one here's a link to a compilation of boot animations: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1364044&highlight=nexus+s+boot+animation
My personal favourite so far is this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1402764
wish google would add an option for the instant shutter or delayed snap after autofocus. 90% of the bad pictures are taken because the person did not either tap to focus or held down the camera button for it to focus
Same goes with panos, I wish they gave you an option for auto panning versus the snap then move, like sgs2 did
Switched to redemption a 4.0.3 ROM and now pics are a lot better. Very impressed.

Why has no one posted a photo yet? Show us some of that 4.0.3 camera goodness!
Does this just happen when you take a picture with the front facing camera does it vertically flip the photo meaning the inverse? Thanks

Naturally, it's the natural image that camera takes the pictures. Most of cameras have the function to reverse the image, so the final image shows the objects just like what you see. If the image from your camera is inversed, then it means that something has been changed on the camera option or intentionally not reverse the image.
Very old camera shows the image like that...
I changed no options is this just something the device does?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Which app? do you mean Stock Camera app?
[Update] never mind. I just tested it out and found the issue in here.
The stock camera does not reverse the original image even it shows reversed image on the screen.
So, one step missing on front camera app. This should be fixed on next version....
During the time, if you need to reverse the image, there's a workaround. Go to the photo editor and select the image taken from front camera and apply the 'reverse' by clicking the arrow icon heading left side....
Thanks very much just making sure because I was like why is the image flipped!

I noticed that my camera auto focus hasn't been working for a while.
But when I use scan app, it seems to be working.
I'm running ParanoidAndroid 2.23 for T989 but I have been flashing around and have this same problem with every roms.
Please help.
Thank you

Hmmm have you tried using a stock rom?
Auto focus doesn't work for me either. it SEEMS to be working on video mode, but definitely doesn't work on photo mode. I believe it has never been working for me, and I always thought why doesn't samsung phone camera autofocus well like my low end HTC phone (HTC One V). I'm on AOKP nightly, which is actually pretty stable right now.
On HTC phone, even when just previewing the pictures to be taken, it autofocuses when the camera gets closer to an object, but this one doesn't do anything. When I press the shutter button, it takes and sometimes focuses correctly, sometimes blurry (especially when too close to the object, which is not a problem with HTC phone). I can long press the shutter key and i will be able to see if it focuses or not before releasing the key, but why doesn't this adjust right away when preview is shown without touching the shutter key?
I'm not sure if this has been posted in our forum, I was looking around for it last night tried it and it works great. Not too sure who to give credit to as I had a few drinks and didn't pay attention on where I got it. This will install the 4.2 camera and gallery. I flashed with Twrp. It won't delete the camera you already have, just adds the new one.
It was tricky to figure out how to use the Photo Sphere so I will give a quick rundown;
1. Open new camera in the app drawer
2. Tap small camera icon and select the spherical globe
3. Take a spherical photo, no need to tap any buttons, it will take the shot automatically
4. Close out app
5. Reopen new camera app and swipe left to access the new gallery
6. Scroll to your spherical photo and tap the little globe icon and view.
7. Awesome.

you don't have to exit out. you can just swipe left and find it processing the image and wait for it to finish.

I found this in the ARHD threat.
It enables the Panorama 360 in the camera app. Works great for me on ARHD 30 (stock kernel).
All credits go to the original developer.
Flash zip though recovery.
Make sure you backup the original camera app (better safe than sorry) and enjoy!

confirm working with SD v 9 ULTIMATE r15
I guess it would be better to include link to the original post
Thanks hit
Anyone else having issues where the little blue rectangles start drifting away? Maybe there's something wrong with one of my sensors (gyroscope, compass)?

I'm doing that, but the little rectangles just start drifting. It's weird.
just installed this and tried it out.
It let me take all the photos but when it tried to stitch it together it was a total mess.
