I'm not sure if this has been posted in our forum, I was looking around for it last night tried it and it works great. Not too sure who to give credit to as I had a few drinks and didn't pay attention on where I got it. This will install the 4.2 camera and gallery. I flashed with Twrp. It won't delete the camera you already have, just adds the new one.
It was tricky to figure out how to use the Photo Sphere so I will give a quick rundown;
1. Open new camera in the app drawer
2. Tap small camera icon and select the spherical globe
3. Take a spherical photo, no need to tap any buttons, it will take the shot automatically
4. Close out app
5. Reopen new camera app and swipe left to access the new gallery
6. Scroll to your spherical photo and tap the little globe icon and view.
7. Awesome.

you don't have to exit out. you can just swipe left and find it processing the image and wait for it to finish.
Works perfect on rasbean 6/11..

Greetings:
I took a few screen capture of my SGS 2 by holding the home and power/wake button at the same time. How can access to these pictures and send them via email?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
they are stored in your gallery

Dont want to beat a dead horse...but Gallery > Screen shots
Screenshots!!!
I'm super super super excited!!!
I have known for over a year that all Samsung Android phones (with touchwiz) have a built in screenshot engine. The problem is that nobody has been able to figure out how to use it. I've even triggered it accidentally a few times on my Vibrant. There is no documentation on this feature but I finally stumbled across the answer while playing with my new Galaxy S II.
HOME+POWER
Please try this on some other Sammy phones and report back. I would love to find out if it works on all of them.
ah yes, it's actually documented in the manual
but as usual no body reads it, not even me
LOL
but it was mentioned already on the release date of the phone, and demoed
there's also another way to capture screen, something about tilting the screen and pressing something, forgot that part
Thank you all for your help.
I found it burried in the app screens.
Is there a picture app/ feature that allows you to quickly take a picture without having to unlock the phone?
Windows and crappie have this features and I wanted on my S3.
Thanks

Thanks, but the feature mentioned above does not support codes so it does not work when the phone is locked.
Do you have a GS3?
Why not try adding the camera app to one of the shortcuts on the lockscreen?

This is why:
1) Faster camera launch.
2) You don't have to enter a password every time you want to take a picture yet your phone its still locked/secured.
3) If you want someone else to take a pic, you have to stop and unlock the phone first or give them your password.
4) When the shortcut is on the lock screen, you have to enter the password before allowing you to take the pic. You'll miss the moment.
5) With Windows 7 and Crapple you don't have to unlock and could quickly launch the camera. Also, all the pictures you take at the moment are visible w/o unlocking.
It would be a good feature to have on the GS3.
Would be a great add on

of course that would be an inconvenience if you have a password on your phone (which i understand most people do.) i on the other hand do not as i dont let my phone out of my sight. i use the shortcut but thats just me and like they say to each his own right.
I would assume if you have a pin unlock code or something else it would be there no matter what app you use

If you use Tasker and the secure settings plugin this MIGHT be possible.

There is an app for this but it requires having a dedicated shutter button on the device.
May I ask how you plan to take a picture without having some sort of GUI?

The stock ROM for my old HTC Amaze did this. I I don't know why Samsung didn't include it.

If memory serves me right, that has a dedicated camera button. If you really really really want this feature, you could remap the home button to function as your camera button, then run the navigation bar that appears in galaxy nexus devices and devices without hardware buttons
Can't you make a tasker function for that

Is there a theme or app in this thread anywhere???
Thought I was in themes and apps section... maybe I'm wrong.. its happened before

here you go
Here is a link of how exactly this is done using tasker.
http://tasker.wikidot.com/bypass-pattern-from-lockscreen-with-camera
You can wait for Android 4.2 since this functionally is now built into the lock screen.

Yes it does but I didnt have to use the button to do it. You pushed the unlock button, then slid the lock ring onto the camera icon (assuming you had it on your lock screen) and you could take a picture. You would see the 3 sec preview of it, and then take more pics. If you tapped the small pic of the last image, and it would take you to the pattern/number lock. That way someone couldn't see your pics without the pass.

Occasionally I will get a text that when I tap to open the image, it opens in Gallery, and allows me to do those exact same things as I could inside the Gallery app. Basically, when I get an MMS picture, I want to be able to tap the picture to preview it, and be able to pinch and zoom the picture. Like I said above, every once and a while I will get a picture that does not open as a video and I can tap, pinch, and zoom it. It looks as though it previewed in Gallery.
I'm stock ROM, and Messaging app, and really would like to stay that way. I am rooted though.
Anyone?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
Anyone at all? This is a very annoying issue... Pictures show up as a video, which is why I can't pinch/zoom...
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
This has happened to me before. I believe it depends how the sender sends the image. If it's a slide show you will see it as "video". If it's sent as an image attachment you'll see it as a picture.
You can still save the image if it's on a slide show. I believe you just press menu and select save. Then you select the items you want to save and see them in the gallery where you can zoom and all that.
Hope this helps

Thank you for a reply!
Anyway, it's actually happening when people that have dumb phones, and smart phones send pictures to me. They typically send just one at a time. I've noticed it came through a few times as it should, but I can't recall what the model is..
I am able to save them to gallery, but that is extremely inconvenient..

While viewing the picture you took, take out s-pen. Press s-pen button and hold the tip down on the screen. This makes a copy of the imsge which you can write on. You can also go to the options menu and click write on the back.

You can do mess around with the photo and draw on it without going into s note
To draw on it click decorations and go to draw.

Was looking through the settings in the camera app that comes with the slim bean rom. What do the following options do:
Smart Capture
True View
Power Shutter
Not really sure what those settings enable/disable.
Any help with the explanation of those would be great
Thanks.

Power shutter is really exactly what it says. Select it, reboot and your power button is now a button to take pictures.
Smart capture is also neat. Here's a video of it working.

I don't know about True view, my guess is it's for the front camera, it'll show you what the picture will look like, not a mirror and than flip it in processing. Just an educated guess though.

I know it is an old thread. But, in case still you haven't read about it:
TrueView faq from slimrom.net
True view is a camera feature to show the whole field of view of the camera.
By default the field of view is stretched and cut on the sides to fit fullscreen.
