Hello,
It's very nice to see many of you from this Sprint Galaxy S3 forum.
I've just got my S3 phone (actually not mine - my wife's S2 suddenly stopped working over the night and Sprint gave me S3 instead of S2).
It seems like there are lots of talented developers in this forum and lots of you I can recognize.
I hope I could learn lots of new stuff in this forum.
Now I'm a just novice, so any advice or helpful information would be greatly appreciated.
I hope to see you around and thanks to all contributors in this forum!
Welcome and you can start here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38172219 the first three posts have tons of information. Ask questions in Q&A and feel free to PM me if something I may be able to assist with.

It seems like Sprint or Samsung is slowly replacing S2 to S3.
What happened to me is, my phone (wife's) was dead over the night during the charging it.
No way to bring it back, so I brought to Sprint customer service. They ordered S3 instead of S2 and I paid $50 to replace the phone because I don't have the insurance for my wife's phone.
I think the chance is half and half.
If we could get S3 instead of S2 for 50 bucks, whenever we upgrade S3 to S4, Sprint will pay you about $115 (for now and it's against the change) for S3. So, this means that we only need to pay about 135 bucks to get S4 (currently $250 - $50 (rebate) + $50 (replace S2 to S3) - $115 (buyback S3).
FYI - S2 is about $50 value by buy back program by Sprint for now.
Anyway, customer service told me that the chance is about half and half. Sometimes, their system shows S2 is available, and the other times, it shows S3 to replace S2.
I think it's a good reason to encourage my kids to break thier S2 phones because their phones are covered by insurance....:silly:
Hi
Great to see you here. Big fan of your work on the epic touch. Am looking forward to see what you bring to the s3.
Ps if you need some one to test anything hit me up.

Welcome Aboard! Same thing happened with me replaced my phone and S2 on BO so they gave me a S3 without messing with my contract upgrade in 12/13. When I picked my phone up they said I was the only one that they dealt with getting the S3 so it was a perfect timing for me.
Glad to see a familar person here, I've seen sister rom's of ones on E4GT forums however haven't found a perfect DD yet. Only had my phone for 5 days so still braking it in.
Hi Kobridge. Nice to see you here. Can't wait to see what you'll be doing here. I used your rom and tweaks on my E4GT and you were always patient and helpful with me

Treat him nicely! Nagging will only de-incentivize him to work on it. Just be content we haven't forgotten about the Tmo SGSII.
Brint Kriebel originally shared this post:
Since word seems to have spread: Regarding the T-Mobile Galaxy S2 (T-989). Yes, I have one and yes, I will be trying to get a stable CM9 build running on it.
Fair warning that this can only be a spare time task for me right now and I have a lot of priority projects right now, so it likely won't be quick. If anyone out there would like to help, that is great - let me know. Otherwise, I will do what I can.
I will update on progress, but please continue to be patient.

a) you have to login to a google account for that link
b) there is code to actually make it into a link ,use the globe with link button
c)see a) is this the same post as the other cm9 thread
For those that can't see it. It reads:

Well at least it isn't a useless post that doesn't confirm anything...saw this on my g+ a little while ago. Good to have confirmation I guess...but almost embarrassing that they had so many people pester them they had to release a special statement about the t989
Shameful...
So basically if you HAVE to have cm9 sell this phone now and save yourself the trouble. Too bad there is no other better phones for Tmobile to get.

And before you ask, there is no ICS, MIUI, CM, AOSP, or AOKP on this phone. Also, use the damn search for your answer! Now gtfo, noob!
Lol, just wanted to say that before you inevitably get flamed at some point for asking a question. Here's a friendly tip: a few users (not all, but a few, and they're very vocal) in this forum need attitide adjustments. Take everything lightly here and don't let those few discourage you from asking questions or helping others.

XDA-developers is a staple site for me. I check for new roms/mods/etc. every day multiple times a day. I finally got around to creating an account now that I feel I might be able to help others from experiences I've had. More so I've been scared to join for fear of being accused of noobdom.
Rooted and rommed Mytouch 4G, G2x, Sensation 4G, Amaze 4G, and waiting on my Galaxy S2 to come back from Samsung for an LCD replacement so that I can get my flashing fix! (I've been dying trying to use a blackberry in it's week's absence...)
Anyway, it's great to see that a fellow new member was treated with such kindness. Hopefully I'll receive the same hospitality.
Also, as a CS major I hope to be joining the actual developers soon. Learning my way around java and the android SDK at the moment. Wish me luck!

Can someone please explain why I bricked my galaxy s3 phone. I have a Samsung galaxy S3 sgh-t999. Phone had a 4.1.1 system and it was rooted. I installed MS Team HD 11.0 from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886332 after installation was completed phone asked to reboot and never came back. Black screen and no buttons responding. Was that rom not for my phone? Also that Rom was in the phone memory not SD card.
That would be because you flashed a rom for the i9300 international model not for the t999. It is always important to read read read before diving into things. Sorry to hear your situation.

You can either pay to have it jtag or you can just call tmobile and tell them you don't know what happened. You gotta have insurance though. Don't worry about the no warranty fee cause they won't be able to tell anything about the phone in that condition because nothing works lol. ....reason I know is cause I did the same thing to my sprint s3.

So I rooted and friends phone a while ago and threw him on PA, He updated a few times, And recently was going to update to the latest version.
He screwed up and flashed a rom from tOlte, Which is the Note 2 apparently.
He says it flashed then he went to reboot.
And now it's pretty much over.
I'm sure this has happened a million times, And I would search the forum for the answer but i'm not from these parts of the forum, I found a few other slightly similar situations but none are exactly the same so I figured i'd make a new thread.

Yes it most likely would fix it.
Even though you are not familiar with this forum, please search before posting. And just a quick glance at each section would've put you on the right track.
Or just look at the page layout, you will see a search xda box and a search this forum box.
Anyway, the info you want is stickied at the top of Android Development section.
Good luck with it!
