So I rooted and friends phone a while ago and threw him on PA, He updated a few times, And recently was going to update to the latest version.
He screwed up and flashed a rom from tOlte, Which is the Note 2 apparently.
He says it flashed then he went to reboot.
And now it's pretty much over.
I'm sure this has happened a million times, And I would search the forum for the answer but i'm not from these parts of the forum, I found a few other slightly similar situations but none are exactly the same so I figured i'd make a new thread.
ANYWHO!
Anyone got any help for us?

Google JTAG Galaxy S3 T999 and do some research on it and get some prices, This phone is easily revived using this service. I've never experienced this first hand but there are folks who do this for a living and are darn good at it!

Yes it most likely would fix it.
Even though you are not familiar with this forum, please search before posting. And just a quick glance at each section would've put you on the right track.
Or just look at the page layout, you will see a search xda box and a search this forum box.
Anyway, the info you want is stickied at the top of Android Development section.
Good luck with it!

don't even need to wait for it to install successfully. Sometimes a "fail" is actually a success, so if you're having problems of it flashing successfully then you should check your app drawer.. its probably in there already.

I should probably create a template so i can just c/p everything over and over.

As of right now, the roms for your S3 are not meant to be used on other S3 variants. Bricks might happens or a soft one might happen. Before flashing a Rom make sure you are in the right development section an you read the entire op, twice. Until other devs or experienced users find a way to make them cross compatible, please refrain from using other carriers S3 roms.

That's slick!:good:
hard brick - a pretty paperweight (tonight)
should have been more careful, soft bricked the phone, 2 times trying to change the dpi.
once trying to flash a rom - the rom flash, took it to QHSUSB_DLOAD mode, not impressed but i'll take this downtime as a time to relax.
Another way to avoid a brick; Don't use a mod, theme, tool or ROM until it's confirmed by multiple people in the community that it's working properly. Read the last 3-4 pages of a thread

I agree with you, I ended up with a soft brick stuck at the samsung glowing logo after trying to unroot because I got a crack the front plastic near the headphone jack. I managed to reset the flash counter and install the rom but odin failed at the end. Now I'm hesitant to flash another ROM. Anyone else here waiting for JellyBean Rom? Definitely take your time and always make sure your computer installs the drivers before doing anything! I got BB to exchange it for me since they couldn't get it to boot and the mystery crack wasn't my fault. I only had it for like 3 days IN A CASE TOO. Happy Flashing dudes.
I'm just glad i saw a forum for the gs3. I would've bricked my phone after i got it.
Another bricker my own fault went to unroot to take in for service and went and loaded a wrong .tar file of the stock system. Anyway...not looking for sympathy..just wanted to say thanks for the forum that gave me the tools to fix my mistake

Is this possible yet? I've seen a few tutorials (on other websites) talking about flashing their AT&T Note II back to stock with the following file ..."KIES_HOME_I317UCALJ2_I317ATTALJ2_215287_REV04_user_low_ship.tar.md5" using Odin.
Although I haven't seen anyone say whether it was successful or not. Truth be told, if I don't read it for myself on XDA I'm kind of hesitant on doing it. I don't need the flash counter reset (yet), but I would just like to know that I could Odin back to stock firmware / recovery if and when anything goes wrong.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Easiest way to root is to use Odin and install your custom recovery and then the team epic root zip. Just make sure you install all the drivers for your phone first

I know I'm late to the party, but here's my two cents:
As far as I'm aware, all of the various guides (and toolkits) actually use the same method (although, the toolkit does have a tendency to bork the wifi). It's just really the packaging they come in. Whenever I recommend a guide to people, I always link this guide by Skunk Ape. It's intuitive and explains each step quite well, with pictures and clear instructions. I've never had someone come back to me asking for clarification after reading that guide.
Hope you enjoy your rooted phone!

Welcome to the Sprint forums! We're generally nice people. The only time you really see the ugly side is if you flash an international Rom to your phone (which bricks it, btw). That's when the sarcasm comes out.
Just stick to Roms made for our phones (d2spr, not i9300) and you'll be fine!
So after researching roms and reading/.watching reviews, it seems that blazer is closest to stock minus all the bloat/samsung stuff that is loaded by default. Is this correct, or would u guys recommend a different rom for a STOCK experience +tweaks/-bloat.
I swear if I bought an htc phone I wouldn't be quite as clueless.

Everyone on here would probably recommend a different rom. I'm currently running msg&chubbz rom. It's pretty stock, does have a lot of features from gs4. Does have "minit settings" which allow you to change battery icon/color, clock color/location, and some others, but besides these changes its pretty stock. I was clueless to s-offing my brothers evo lte, but I got it eventually. HTC phones are a little more confusing to most people.

FOllowed the directions telling me to flash the Verizon version to my Sprint device but it failed. Normally no big deal but like an idiot I did not back up and I did not have another ROM to fall back on.
I have a card reader adapter that I have attempted to put other random roms onto and flash through TWRP but EVERYTHING fails and I can't figure out why. SOmebody please help me out here

Update: I've been able to flash the Illusion Rom with no Fail message but it just boots to the Samsung Galaxy Splash and doesn't move like it's loading the greatest cut scene ever. So yea still stuck if anybody could help out
Ok I can most likely help but I need more information. Give me a link to the thread you followed and the rom you flashed. Please send it in a PM so others wont see it and try to do the same thing.
Another user recently posted a video link to something claiming the same thing in one of my rom threads. I have ported over a Verizon rom to sprint and it is not a simple thinbg to do. Wish you would have seen this in my thread before you tried it. Hopefully I can get you up and running again.

I went to that forum and read everything along with the comments. Looks like they really have no clue what they are doing. The users who did not mess up their device (non sprint users) do not have working wifi because they do not have the proper information. There are specific files on each device that is needed and they were not told to change them. I left a mostly nice comment about their steps for sprint.
Sorry guys I was already heading to bed when you guys started messaging back. I appreciate you guys taking the time out to help me with my problem. jlmancuso I've sent you that PM with hopefully all the information you need and requested.
Update: I have just attempted to Flash the stock firmware from samsung-updates.com through ODIN and I am unfortunately still getting no further than the Samsung Galaxy Note II splash and of course I've also lost TWRP
Final Update: After flashing the stock firmware back to my phone I went into the basic recovery mode that it has and did a factory reset yet again and apparently that did it and my phone is back to it's normal self.
Thanks for your help guys ... kinda lol
