Would you guys update to an M Ultra?

i like my m so no need to update. all an update would mean is more waiting for root, unlocked bootloader, ect...
As long as it's just an update of the current M such as better battery, more ram, faster processer.
This is the first phone I like so much I don't think I will update until it breaks or something so much better comes along.... Although if the ultra m has a way better camera, maybe a physical shutter button I might have to get one sooner.
Verizon is already supposed to be getting the Motorola X phone which is relatively small (5.06" x 2.56" according to FCC documentation) vs the Razr M which is (4.82" x 2.40"). I'm not sure how well a new Razr M would differentiate itself from the X phone.
Overall, I feel the refresh for the series is a step on the right direction. However, I'd rather grab a Moto X when they drop. Not a fan of Droid Zap, the design (hyperglaze is no fun) and the capacitive buttons. If the X loves up to the rumors, I can right up the extra screen size.

I have a feeling the X is going to have the same X8 processor as the new Droids. The X8 is really just a Snapdragon S4 Pro with some enhancements if I understand correctly, but it could explain the X phone's high benchmarks. X should have better 3rd party development since it will be on At&t, Sprint and Verizon.
From the FCC documentation the X phone tested was 5.06 x 2.56, a bit bigger than the 4.82 x 2.40 Razr M, but still a lot smaller than the 5" screen phones out there.

I am planning to get a HTC One X, and recently read a rumor of HTC One XXL. I dont want to wait until next year, and if the screen size is bigger than HTC One X then XXL would be useless for me. I need a good advice whether to get One X or wait for HTC One XXL??

leaked information is never reliable
but is is the only information we have about the XXL
1.6 quadcore (now 1.5)
2GB RAM (now 1GB)
1.8 MP Front Facing Camera (now 1.3MP)
same screen
same screen size
same camera sensor
but i hasn't been annouced yet so you don't know when it is released
my advice, just buy the one x
there will be always better phones released right after you buy it
if you want to wait for the best you can wait until you die
hmmm yeah....i think its a good idea to get a HTC one X as the XXL has a little advancement of RAM and 1.6GHz rather than 1.5GHz. The one on the HTC one X would be enough for me, but i am worried about the battery life, also i heard that there gonna be a huge update for HTC one x which improves lof of stability and bugs, also battery life. Is that true???
Am also worried about the defects, if i get a faulty one, are there lot of faulty ones out there or wat?
it's not JUST 1.6 Ghz It's The QUAD-Core Snapdragon S4 28nm With Adreno 320 GPU and clocked at 1.6 or 1.7 and if the rumors are right it Would be A BEAST! :silly::laugh:
Hmz this is new for me. Would be cool if it would be a real device.
Why the **** would he sensor Mac address and keep the Serial number open :S

I think this will come out around October/November time, HOX refresh, around iPhone 5 time and GNote 2 time.
that would be stupid but given that sadly so sadly s3 is selling more, HTC will be forced to do this move
as for me the choice is simple, i follow tegra
i dont see happy reports from the s4 owners, in fact they say it evens out in terms of battery life since screen off times is not as good so imagine a quad with that...and the adreno 3x demos are nothing much

They have to do something as the iP5 will be a big seller regardless of what anyone says and the GNote 2 will be Samsung's high end phone. So HTC will need some new high end device to compete as the HOX won't match either in terms of sales around that period leading up to the holiday period.

Purported HTC One XXL specs: quad-core Snapdragon and LTE (Update: Fake)
UPDATE: Many have cried foul over the alleged screenshots, with the texture on the settings menu not matching what’s found on current Sense 4.0 devices, and the previously embedded video has been made private. On top of that, would HTC really release a new flagship device so soon and risk customer loyalty? Apologies, friends, but the information is more likely than not fake.

Android phones have always out-spec'd iPhone's with bigger displays, faster processors, more features, and better customization. The iP5 is supposed to have a 4.1" display and an A6 processor. The current One X and SGS3 are competitive. People don't buy Android because the iPhone has better specs, they buy it because it's an iPhone. The Note isn't an iPhone competitor. At 5MM sales vs. 20MM sales of the SGS2 it's not even a player. Not everyone wants to hold a tablet to their ear.
Im sure I read somewhere that HTC are only going to do hardware refreshes every year. Instead of the 2-3 a year they do now

if i was HTC i would sort the **** out first with the One X and then try and see what the future holds...One series has potential..just for the to utilize it and work upon it...if everything was unlocked and had s-off i would even go to say this would sell even more than the s3

so i was getting all ready to replace my droid incredible 2 with the razr m, which seemed like the perfect phone. really nice screen, nice form factor and build quality, its global ready, and of course the great price of $99.
however, on the verizon website, the LG Spectrum 2 caught my eye. For the same price as well as being global ready, it seems much better. a couple of differences i found so far were
Spectrum 2..................... Razr M
full HD screen vs the qHD
16gb internal memory vs 8gb
1.3 megapixel ffc vs 0.3 mp ffc
2150 mAh vs 2000 mAh
same processor - snapdragon S4
same ram - 1gb
there might be a few more differences between the 2 phones so feel free to tell me and i can add them to the list. from specs alone, it looks like the Spectrum 2 is the clear winner. however i dont know much about LG (like radio quality, updates) so could someone tell me any possible drawbacks of getting an LG phone. oddly enough, i cant seem to find a lot of reviews on the spectrum 2 compared to the vast number for the razr m.
any thoughts on the comparison of the two phones? which would you guys get?
spectrum 2 - http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/...t&action=viewPhoneDetail&selectedPhoneId=5954
razr m - http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/...t&action=viewPhoneDetail&selectedPhoneId=5947
Size Matters...
For me, the size of the RAZR M was perfect. It combines a 4.3in screen in a phone body that is nearly the same size as the original DROID Incredible that had a 3.7in screen.
Here are the dimensions of the RAZR M:
4.82(H) x 2.39(W) x 0.33(D)inches
Here are the dimensions of the LG Spectrum 2:
5.31" (H) x 2.69" (W) x 0.36" (D)
In this comparison, size matters.... LG trailed in smartphone usage, sales, and quality for a little while, I believe. I wasn't a fan of their lines. They did make the new Nexus, so Google has seen some redeeming quality. You can find the RAZR M cheaper if you look, if that's a big factor in this scenario. You should see if LG has released a statement or anything on how long the phone will receive updates.
Edit* did not realize you mentioned updates. My bad for the redundancy.

yeah i really like the edge to edge screen in the razr m. however the resolution and technology dont compare since its a qHD pentile, which i heard arent very nice because of pixel layout. the LG uses a IPS display, which i believe is in the iphone. that and its full HD resolution so wouldnt that a huge quality difference between the screens?
and yeah skippid, i was worried if LG would ever update the phone or if it would get dev support from here
The qHD isn't so bad. The M has great color too. I'm sure I could tell a difference if the two devices were side by side as far as resolution. The "jagged" edges of icons and such doesn't aggravate me like many reviews said it would. I went from the RAZR to the M, but had a GNex for a small time in between the two, and still prefer the smaller profile. Keep us posted on what you decide.

Yeah, I was all set to ge tthe M in a couple weeks then saw the LG phone. I currently have an LG Optimus-S on Sprint and have been flashing ROM's on it for 1.5 years. Have had no issues with it. Also was thinking the Moto razr HD if there is a special black friday price.
The LG Spectrum 2 doesn't "look" as nice as the Moto and probably the Moto is better built. It sure felt good at the store.

yeah i definitely thought that too. the razr m looks really nice and has that nice kevlar finish which is supposed to be really durable.
this is the video promo for the spectrum 2

i thought the design on the spectrum 2 didnt look that great but at 1:09, the lighting notification on the top and the close up shot make the phone look really nice. the ice blue lighting is a nice touch.
still dont know what to get lol
Nexus 4 not in the mix? I'd still take the Razr M. It's not always about the specs and this "crappy screen" on the Razr M I keep hearing about. I reckon the Screen is crisp

I'd take the RAZR M as well. If I bought an LG device, it would be the Nexus. I'm really impressed with the build quality of my M. It feels sturdy and solid, and the black Kevlar looks great on the black model. I think the Kevlar is more of a gimmick however.

nexus 4 doesnt have LTE and is probably still really fast over the enhanced 4G networks but i have verizon so its pretty much useless for me . the razr m is supposed to be free on black friday which is coming up so i think ill probably wait till then.
also hows the camera on the razr M? i've seen mixed reviews for it everywhere, some calling it mediocre and others calling it great.

I like the camera on the M, except one thing, lack of micro focus. There is no option to take very fine pictures up close. I couldn't get a picture of a spider in my kitchen window seal. Random, I know. It's really fast though.
Sent from my XT907 using xda app-developers app
The Razr M's 4.3" screen is really about 4.0" of visible screen most of the time, because the on-screen buttons occlude a bit of the screen. I think it's only video playback that makes them disappear and presents you the full 4.3".
The Razr M has the Apt-X bluetooth codec, which is like listening to wired, according to this review of headphones that have both Apt-X and a wire [ACK, new xda member here, so can't yet post links. Google "Slashgear Sennheiser PX 210 BT apt-X Headphones Review" for details].
Of course, you would need headphones that support Apt-X, like the Motorola S11-Flex HD, to make use of this better playback potential.
Guys I'm thinking of buying this phone since it fits within my budget of 350 euro. However I'm doubting a bit due to the warnings about the S3 chip that is supposed to deliver half the power as the S4 chip from qualcomm.
I'm not a heavy gamer and although the screen and camera seem to be a huge plus these are not my most important criteria. Preferably I'd like my phone to last and be as quick and responsive on regular tasks at least 2 years from now.
The phone I'm drawn to is the HTC one S, since it features the S4 chip and Dual Channel Ram. I like the thinner design, but I absolutely do not like the stupid recent apps kinda button that replaces the menu. Who thought of that?
Anyway, the price difference is about 55 euro's. The HTC being 40 euro's over budget. Would it be feasible to invest the extra money based on my main concern? Or would you not even think of the HTC as an alternative?

You could try getting the HTC One XL or LG Optimus 4X HD. Both are pretty good phones with decent specification akin or even better than the Xperia S. The HTC One XL has a larger screen size and the LG Optimus 4X HD packs a powerful quad-core processor which beats even the likes of the HTC One X. All 3 retail for around the same price in my country. Not sure about yours.

I feel like the whole reason the RAZR M is awesome (size) is ruined with this "upgrade". It's wider and taller, why not just get a MAXX? The M is the only new phone out these days with good specs that is a manageable size.

Oh I must have overlooked that part. I thought it was the same size. If that's true that they increased it, then that phone is not for me. I hate to say it, but if good spec Android phones are not going to continue being built and released in the size form as the Razor M is, then I will have have to take a big giant suck it up and cross over to the iPhone market. Yuck Yuck City!!!
RAZR M - 4.82 x 2.40 x 0.33
RAZR M HD - 5.15 × 2.52 x 0.35
That's just based on the link you provided, who knows if it's actually legit. That's not a huge phone by any stretch, but I thought it was perfect in its original form. If the screen is truly 4.5, then I figured it would have to be bigger.
Now if they can keep the same size and boost up the LCD to 300+ PPI now we talking. At that point its a no brainer !!! Its KICKS iPhones Butt. Not that it isnt already able to do that. LMAO
I really hope they don't do this. The two models they have on Verizon right now is fine, there is no need to introduce more devices which will only delay updates. I would love to see a 1280x720 4.3" phone from Motorola. The HTC Rezound had this same display when it was released back in late 2011 so the displays are out there.
I have a hard time believing it will have a 3300 mAh battery in such a small chassis.

Root not working:
I have moto drivers installed, 4.1.1 official OTA update.
I used the motofail2go.. runs without errors (I know sometimes it'll say unsucessful and you have to do a factory reset/wipe to get it to work)
all sucessful... SU is installed on the phone.. but no root access. I've tried 3 times now. Any suggestions?
I might just go back to the JB leak, it seamed more stable anyways. I get quite a few random reboots with the official that I didn't get with the JB leak.
I am on Verizon and considering this as the phone to get for my upgrade, I currently have a DNA which I love. However it doesn't seem like a substantial upgrade from the DNA.

I was in the same boat. I had the DNA as well, which I loved until the last update which made my phone very sluggish overall. Text messaging became super slow and crashed often, even after a reset. So upgrading was as close to a no-brainer as you could get. Even still, I loved my DNA phone. I am not big on Samsung phones, they feel very cheap to me and I feel Samsung is the Apple equivalent in the Android world so I am against them as far as phones. So when the M8 was announced, I was pretty excited. Went to Verizon last week to test it out. I read about all the complaints. Phone is too big, camera sucks, too heavy, etc. Needless to say I wasn't expecting much so I was surprised when I got there.
My comparison to the DNA... Worth the upgrade. The DNA is pretty big already and so the size and weight is not noticed. The M8 actually feels lighter in the hand, maybe due to me finding it more comfortable to hold. Looks-wise, no caparison and build-wise, no comparison. The M8 is better in both. I think it takes great pictures, no difference I see from my DNA and I love the additional camera features. The M8 is blazing fast and so smooth. The DNA was nice, the M8 is awesome. My buddy has a GS4 and when he picked up my phone his first comment was "damn this this fast!". Also, SD card is available now, so bonus there. No removable battery, but not a deal breaker for me as battery life is easily 1.5x that on what I was getting on the DNA.
When I got the DNA, I loved it. Then the original HTC One came out and I was a little upset I didn't wait a touch to get that but after comparing them, I felt that it was an incremental upgrade and would not be worth the cost. The M8 is a major revision compared to the DNA and is worth it. If you are unsure, wait it out until the Z2 comes out and go to compare them all.
Thank you for this, now I'd feel better about the transition from the DNA to the m8, however the DNA is still running very smooth atm for me do it is hard to retire the phone. If Sony doesn't announce anything soon then I may just get the m8.
HTC doesn't do the whole 2 flagship phones a year like Sony right? There isn't gonna be a m8 max or something in near future? Also it's this phone water proof?

I'm also considering making the switch. In my case I have the note 2. My note is still running smoothly with a custom rom but I am so attracted to the m8 aluminum build as well as the front speakers. I'm also curious about the new LG g3 (rumors say it might have an aluminum body). I also want to update before the loophole closes to keep my unlimited data with Verizon. I'm not attracted to the s5.
