I haven't picked mine up yet, but know a lot of you already have. I'm going to be a bit sad downgrading from the Rezound to it, but i have my reasons.
What about you guys? Is the phone everything you expected/more?
Best phone EVER.
I really don't know why you think you'd be downgrading. This is an awesome android phone and ICS is slick as hell. I'm also very happy I'm on Verizon now as Sprint's 3G speeds in my area are horrendous.
1.2 dual core TI processor,hd screen that's absolutely gorgeous, ics to top it off. The phone is nothing but smooth. LOVE it. Probably saved me from completely ditching android.
I'm completely done with HTC and sense. It's a resource hog.

def the best phone ever. Exceeded expectations. The Rezound is rezounding CRAP comparatively. This is not opinion, it's FACT. lol
Prev phones... Htc Hero, Htc EVO, HTC EVO 3D, Nexus S 4G... none of them compare. Sort of like apples to oranges because of ICS, but whatever.
Downgrading ? Don't think it's downgrading.
The phone rocks so far. Little quirks, but what phone doesn't have quirks?
BEATS the HELL out of any other phone I've ever seen
I LOL'd at downgrading.

Had the Rezound and this phone is way better. Plus no sense to slow down the phone. You will get updates much sooner. What's not to like?

Just picked mine up and its amazing. The screen is absolutly beautiful. I came from the droid charge and that had a nice screen too, but nothing like this
I just played with it in the store for like 20 minutes. It's really fast and slick. I want this phone. My renew date is the 12/28 and they won't let me upgrade now but the rep at the store said maybe if I call verizon custom service they might let me???
I'm going to try the store I usually buy stuff at and see if it makes a difference.
+1 Love it.
It's absolutely nothing short of the best phone I have ever owned. I have no reason to install Handcent or Swiftkey X

I am in the UK and had the choice of the Nexus or the Note. After trying both, I went for the Note. Faster processor, better camera, larger screen, FM radio, bigger battery, better GPS, MicroSD card slot plus the stylus. Can live without ICS for a while till the bugs are sorted and tweaks made. It's a shame you don't have the choice in some parts of the world.

I just exchanged my Rezound for the Galaxy Nexus. No regrets whatsoever. The Rezound IS a very good phone, but the Nexus is just on another level. It's no downgrade over the Rezound!

This is just my simple opinion on what I have experienced.
I'm going to compare it to the RAZR which is the phone I used for 3 days waiting on the Nexus:
- The RAZR has better radio (signal strength). with the RAZR I always had 4g at work, now I get 4g from time to time.
- I have noticed some really minor lags, I saw no lag with the RAZR at all.
- I found browser experience of the RAZR superior.
- RAZR has a laughter speaker but the call quality (on the other end) sucked, Nexus is better.
-Some minor FC here and there but that will go away soon.
Even with all this, I will never change it for the RAZR or any other phone I have seen. It is nice and a little of getting used to ICS.
definitely NOT a downgrade, you won't regret it.

Picked mine up at Radioshack this morning at open. There was a lot of frustration with their system, then with Verizon's system, then they had to manually enter my information over the phone and the whole process took about an hour just to sell the phone.
Then I opened it up and activated it. Worth every frustrating second. This phone is amazing.
Totally happy with mine. For an android fan stuck on Big Red, it is definitely the best option. ICS is rockin'!
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
Upgraded from a Droid Charge as well. That was never a phone I absolutely loved, but I was trying to get on unlimited 4G before it went tiered. Really my only complaint at this point is the speaker is definitely quieter. The sound from the headset also is lower.
But better screen? Check. Speedy dual core (compared to Charge)? Check. No camera lag? Check. Huge modding community? Sure to come. ICS? Awesome.
I don't see myself regretting the decision to buy this phone.

has anyone heard if the htc one X+ is coming to tmobile and if so do u guys think it will be better than the s3?
I think htc is better in many ways but s3 is good too as a starting dev i would prefer htc - it's more free to tweak but s3 has much "'cool" things as floating touch, it reacts when you close your eyes etc.

I thought everyone was pissed at htc for tying the hands of the devs and refusing to allow them to gain soff and all?
Htc was great, 2 or 3 years ago. Not so sure anymore. I still like their hardware and design, but to keep it so locked down is an epic fail in my book.

why yes... yes they were.. Amaze and so on has been complicated. That was the downfall of htc popularity. everybody went to the gs2 knowing this and tore that baby up.
And amaze had crappy battery... probably mostly about the crappy battery lol.
I like HTC's designs, but they are buggy as hell. I've had the PPC-6601, SDA, Shadow 2, HD2, and the One S, and as usability goes the S3 beats em all. The HTC One aluminum unibody would be a winner if it didn't limit expandability so severely.
The htc one x + is an at&t exclusive only. We wont have it:thumbdown:

I am sure T-Mobile will get a variant of this phone, but may be watered down like the one S was/is.
I love the build quality on the HTC devices, from the unibody to the overall build really. Just awesome looking/feeling devices.
Not fond of the horrendous battery life's or the screen always seeming it pales in comparison to Sammy.
I loved my Amaze, wife currently has one and kinda liked the one S till I realized it was no different than my Amaze and really almost a step down.
Real happy with my S3. I don't see me going back to HTC anytime soon.

Even though phones are becoming more power efficient, I personally dont think we are at a point were having a non-removable battery is justified. Screens are becoming bigger and brighter which just offsets any power optimization implemented, and we are left with the same horrible battery life. This is the main reason I believe the S3 is superior.
I had the HTC inspire and then the sensation and the Amaze 4G. All where great phones....HTC lost my money when they made the HTC one x without expandable memory and with the built in battery!! Which I hate a lot...remind me of an iPhone concept in a way...but at this point I have 0% regret that I switched to the s3....I believe it was a good move for me because it is a great phone all the way around.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
The best thing in the phone is the screen is just amazing how good it looks, comparison to the gs3 and iPhone 5 you can tell the one x got a beautiful screen, I would get it no problem but I ma have a hard time selling the gs3 plus I already have spare battery and a 64 micro sd card so is hard for me, other then that I think is a great phone. And for those that think htc is down in sales because of developer friendly.. That's a lie... The reason why half of my family go to a gs3(there is like 6 of them) id because of the aggressive Samsung ads (crazy everywhere) and I got at least 6 Co workers too, if htc would have done what Samsung did in releasing on all carriers the one x brand would have been recognized, is one of my favorites phones and if I could I would use as my secondary device

One x has great battery life. Ive never used an extra battery for any phone ive owned. Ive always bought an external battery/case like the mophie when i had my 4s and i have one for the sg3. As far as storage 16GB is fine for me as i dont use my phone for anything else than calling/txting which is its purpose. Unlimited data = spotify = no need for 32,64,etc. Only reason I buy more than 16GB of storage when i purchase a phone is for reselling value . Im not hating on samsung as i love my sg3 but they need to learn from other companies like apple, htc, motorola and stop making cheap feeling fragile phones.

Not fragile at all actually. Go drop the hox and u will see. Anyway this thread is stupid and should be locked. 1. Belongs to q&a 2. Is about htc device . Yes op wonders if it is coming to tmobile, but this is not the tmobile thread.
I've had a G1, Galaxy S, HTC Amaze 4g, and now my S3. Not to mention I work for a company that makes IPhone apps so I have an iPhone 4 paid by them which I keep in a box and I play with iPhone 4S, 5 a lot. I loved my G1. Hated my Galaxy S. Loved my Amaze 4g for a bit till December update ruined it, and liked a lot again with ICS update, though it just felt lagging stock and they look worn fast.
My Galaxy S3 is my favorite phone. I just does everything I need splendidly with no lag and I'm on a stock Rom with no root and no alterations. Personally, I just love the phone. Plus I also prefer it over any iPhone.

Hey guys I've been considering upgrading my phone to something better.
I'm currently using the GNex (obviously since I'm in this forum).
Are there any phones you can recommend right now that would be a good upgrade from the GNex? Or should I just wait until the Fall when Google releases their next Nexus phone? Presuming they are actually doing this...
People rave about the SGS4 but when I read about it seems very, very gimmicky.
Does anyone know for sure if Google is releasing a new phone in the Fall, or when specifically? I'm hoping it will follow the same price strategy as the Nexus 4 did, without so much hardware distribution problems....$300 top of the line unlocked Android phone...I'll be all over it this time because to me the difference between a GNex and a Nexus 4 was not huge...but this would be a 2 year difference now.
Just wait. You have the Note 3, Motorola X, possible updated HTC One, and other powerful devices coming. The Galaxy S4 and current HTC One is about to be obsolete in terms of hardware which is crazy.

If LG will make the new NEXUS ,then i would go for note 3 ,
Plz if anyone has any news about the up-coming nexus ?
I upgraded to the S4 and am 100% satisfied although I would advise you wait a little bit longer for the rumoured devices to come out.

looking at the motoX currently as well. For what it's worth, my dad just picked up the S4 and it is a great phone, but if you can afford to wait, you lose absolutely nothing. Don't like the Moto X, you can get the S4.
Well I just upgraded to the HTC one. It really is an awesome device, and sense 5 is an excellent skin. No lags or over the top intrusions like previous versions of sense.
The build quality is incredible. The most beautiful feeling when u pick it up in your hands. Premium. And it's a looker too. I won't even go into the twin front facing stereo speakers. They are something too.
Its the first smartphone I've had with a non removable battery as well. Battery is good for the average day comfortably.
I would say go for it. It's got excellent specs to match as well. 2 gigs of ram and quad snapdragon 600. Can't go wrong.

Yep. I did the same over the weekend. Couldn't be happier. All my friends either had the galaxy S3/S4 or an iphone, so I wanted to be different. I gotta say this phone is beautiful and very professional looking.
Build quality is great. Rooted and flashed a custom rom not even an hour after I got home. Not real big on Sense, but I can manage with it.
I still have my Gnex, in case I start to feel nostalgic and want to go back to that
The Nexus 4 is still a great device, and should be relevant for some time to come. Also, since you have a Galaxy Nexus, you probably aren't against rooting. Get an S4, or an HTC One, root it, and make it a Google Edition device. Or just flash an AOSP based rom on it.
There's always something coming out in the next few months. Figure out what features are important to you, and find a phone that matches those features.
if anything right now then I'd go with HTC One, or wait to see what the next nexus will be.
I am either going to get the HTC one or moto x but I am really on the fence about which is better for me. I really care about battery and data connectivity moztly. I would like to root and use custom roms if either allows that. I did see the HTC one beats the moto x in display sharpness but the moto x beats in brightness which is important to me. What do you guys suggest?

TBH, I would take the MotoX right now. I like the size of the MotoX, the always on features, and the battery life on it. I think it'd be a better choice for me based on the fact that I do not game as much as I used to.
I was in your boat about a month ago and the real selling point to me was the design, speakers and the camera on the HTC one. And it's a powerhouse with impressive battery life. Plus the TV app is prett neat. Aside from all that, the features on the X seem much more practical and it's a great price.
That is such a toss up right now. I think I would go with the Moto X, I really like the active notifications.
But don't get me wrong,.I love my HTC One.

I have the One on Verizon, and my girlfriend has the Moto X on Verizon.
I love the build quality, solid feel, front facing speakers, and Sense UI of the One. It is an awesome phone, my only real critiques are the camera, that it doesn't have a 3 soft-touch-button layout like my old DNA, and that ViperONE isn't officially supported yet
However, Motorola is on fire with the Moto X, I have to admit. It is an awesome "daily driver" phone, and Motorola is hitting a grand slam with their fast updates, the way they are updating some of the native apps through the Play Store, etc, they are just doing an awesome job with this phone. I've never really liked Motorola or their phones, but I have to acknowledge that I really like what I'm seeing from them and hope that other manufacturers catch on.
I like not only the ideas that Motorola is implementing with the Moto X, as mentioned above, but the actual product itself. It is a very nice quality feeling phone, with good build quality, the perfect size, and excellent performance. I haven't ever been tempted this much by a non-HTC phone..if I could snag one for <$300 on Craigslist, I would probably pick one up to flirt with.
I didn't buy into the Moto X hype until my girlfriend ordered a Motomaker Moto X, and I've got to toy around with it. I see what all the hype is about now.
I guess I can't believe I am saying this, as an HTC fan, but Moto X. I think it will offer the best day to day performance for the average user, with the least amount of bugs or hiccups. If you consider yourself a power user, grab the One.
Not sure how soon you're considering it, but at this point we might only be 2-4 months from the HTC M8 (successor to the One), and it could be worth the wait? Keep that in mind.. although who knows how long we'd have to get that phone on Verizon.

I got the Diztronic clear case for my lady.
The HTC one is my preference. I am VERY interested in the MotoX I wish I had one to play around with, if I had the extra cash I'd easily grab it for a "back-up"/bring to concerts so I don't hurt my htc one lol, but I have played with it and reallllly enjoyed it.
Also not a big moto guy, first (smart) phone was OG Moto, which i exchanged within the 30 days (the good old days before crApple) and got the HTC Eris, that started my HTC Love.
But I would honestly also highly suggest looking into both deeply and consider the options, I know Moto usually has boot strap which is pretty amazing, but HTC one is s-off (well unfortunately not anymore until the new OTA gets/if updated..)
so yea, this is a tough one
I also hate saying it, but I am interested in the Samsung Galaxy S5, if made from metal like the rumors, would be a much bigger competitor to HTC.
I still prefer HTC, but I thoroughly enjoyed both the SG3, and SG4. Both un-expectedly phones I loved and won't sell. Unless maybe to fund the MotoX, might be time to dump s4 for the MotoX, but the sg3 will be one of those phones like the HTC One, that just won't even get sold.
Keep in mind that another great option is the Droid Maxx--if you want great battery life. It is basically the same phone as the Moto X with a better battery and better build quality, but no motomaker.
But I think other than the battery the One is a much better phone. Best option now is to wait until the M8 or the galaxy s5 is out.

I have been asking myself this question a lot lately.
I'm loving my One, but I've had to work really hard to get the battery to something even half way decent. I'd love to play with an X for an extended period to see how much different the ergonomics, speed and screen quality are for me.
But it sounds like all of the X converts are very pleased. Either way, I'm sure you can't go wrong.
___________________________
OP - I realize that last bit I wrote wasn't actually helpful in any fashion. My apologies.
However, you said you're mainly concerned with battery life and data connectivity. I think with that being the case, you'd be happier with the X. By most accounts, battery life is phenomenal with high screen times, and the Motorola Radio's are typically some of the best I've used for signal and speed.
Don't let the specs on paper fool you either. Even though the X has a 720p display, it's still a fantastic screen. Also, just from playing with a couple of the X's my friends own, it's one of the most comfortable devices I've held lately. And the X8 architecture seems to be about as responsive as my One in most every task.
The X definitely has things well figure out from what I have seen and with what seems to be substantially more longevity vs the One, it may be the route you want to go.
Just got my JUMP text message yesterday. I went from the GS3 to the G2. Love the G2....but not IN love with it. As soon as I saw the M8, I really loved the look both physically and UI....which is weird because I hated Sense before.
Anyway, trying to debate which to upgrade to this weekend (or wait.........). Would like some opinions from M8 owners.

Same for me. Coming from Note 3 and this device blew me away. I'm pretty picky, have had quite a few phones in a short time frame, but this phone has thoroughly impressed me. Also, you will enjoy the interface way more than the taskbar hogging madness that is the G2. Get it.

Yeah my wife just upgraded to the N3. I've been itching to upgrade. I have the original JUMP program (apparently it changed after the initial release) so I can just do a straight swap after 6 months. I don't have to pay off half the phone prior to swapping. I'm feeling a little less cautious about it knowing after 6 months if I don't like it I can just swap.
I really like the drop down SMS and call feature of the G2, as well as the 'knock on'. I hardly use the power button.
I was looking at the S5 as my other option, but all the KNOX stuff is steering me away from it.
I do take a lot of pictures, and use my phone for music quite a bit. Hmmmm.
Really torn.
i did the same thing and i was skeptical as well as i loved the G2, but man the htc M8 is something else
when you hold it you know you are holding a premium device and those boomsound speakers and the clean flat UI
are the things that made my decision easier. battery life is on par with the G2 as well

I need you to jump to this phone! Lol! I miss my FreeGS3 ROM from the S3!
This camera is much better than reviews say.
Sound quality is phenomenal!

I came from an LG G2. The G2 was my favorite device I've used. The G2 was an amazing phone especially after the Kit Kat update, light years better than the Galaxy S4 and I think it was highly underrated. I loved it more than my Note 3.
The software worked great and came with a lot of useful little extras, like the SMS pop up which was awesome. Wish other manufacturers would do that. UI was very smooth with hardly any hiccups. Double tap to wake works better on the G2 and that is a feature I use EVERY TIME.
I've had my M8 for about a week now and still trying to convince myself that it's a better device. Boom sound and super fast focus are what's making me keep the M8 so far. I do miss the extra screen estate on the G2 and you definitely notice it when switching to the M8. I do miss other little things about my G2 like he top row numbers on the stock keyboard and it's compact size for a 5.2" screen. It still takes my breath away when I take it out of it's case and marvel at the massive screen size in such a small phone, almost no bezels on the sides is SEXaaaY!
Battery life on both are about the same, which to say is excellent!
I say if the G2's camera focus speed and speaker is good enough for you, keep it. My G2 served me very well and I'm already waiting for the G3... the M8 is just a device to hold me over until then.

haha, I was wondering if anyone would remember me! Cash, back on page one, I'm almost certain I recognize him from the GS3 forums.
Haven't been building ROMs since I stopped over the GS3 side. Got so damn time consuming, but it was so much fun.
I think I'll have to go down to the store Saturday and just hands on with it and see how it feels.
I used the g2 for a while and really did love it, but mine had a borked GPS so I returned it. Really didn't care for the UI and tried as best as possible to conceal it.
As for this phone, man... You're going to love it if you get it. It's the fastest and smoothest phone out to date, I believe. The only downgrade is going to be the detail derived from the camera (obviously). You just have to be ok with that. The UI for the gallery is so far better than any other phone that I don't have a good enough superlative for it. But, again.. camera is slightly above average, not AMAZING. So that's all you have to be concerned about.

I don't have a g2 and never have, but the only reason why I got the m8 was that it had GPE I love vanilla kit Kat. I feel secure that I am going to get Nexus like treatment in terms of updates. Which is what I had(Nexus 5)

I just upgraded from G2 and its been an adjustment. At first, I wasn't happy with the M8. But the more I use it and listen to music, I love my M8. I didn't like the GPS on the G2 and I have no issues with the M8.
Going to sell my rooted G2 now.

i did the same thing and i was skeptical as well as i loved the G2, but man the htc M8 is something else
when you hold it you know you are holding a premium device and those boomsound speakers and the clean flat UI
are the things that made my decision easier. battery life is on par with the G2 as well

I uderstand the premium feel but most people use a case these days.

I made the upgrade. I thought about what I would gain from the M8 and what i would miss on my G2. Ultimately it came down to missing the higher resolution photos and a few software things here and there. I pretty much never take photos that don't get downgraded for viewing on facebook or instagram and my phone was filled with couple's selfies (one for every time my gf went on my phone). That in mind I figured the 5MP front facing camera would be an upgrade. And finally, boomsound. If you listen to music on your phone often, the built in amps on the M8 will make your IEMs cry for mercy. I have no regrets.
