It will guide you through everything, unroot, flash a stock rom, and should s-on.

Hello!
I have the same problem. I want to revert to HTC Stock ROM, because I'm selling the phone. The RUU telling me that it;
"cannot update the phone. Get the correct ROM-update-utility, and try again."
Appriciate any tips about this
/Rune
EDIT: I found a RUU which went trough now...so Issue is solved in my case!
I've been searching arround but can't find a solution for my issue; i have a rooted desire, with a stock rom with a modified kernel (for the battery fix); i got an OTA but i can't seem to apply it. I've even toggle dthe signature (and the other thing you can toggle, can't rememebr what its called!) through recovery but even then the installation gets aborted.
How can i apply the OTA? i don't mind loosing root 'cause it's easy enough to do if i want it again.
And i know i can just flash a newer rom but from my experience (winmo), if i start flashing roms, i'll never stop!!!
UPDATE: Ok, now i've messed up; I restored my previously backed up version (old kernel), then rebooted the phone, istalled the update and now it just boots onto htc splash screen then reboots. I can boot into hboot but when i try and go into recovery i get the picture with the phone and a red triangle with an exclamation mark inside!
Help please!!!
****ING NOOBS!!!!
Seriously, read the other threadas about how you CANNOT APPLY AN OTA TO A ROOTED ROM WITHOUT CAUSING ISSUES!!!!
The point is it wasn't a rooted Rom, it was a stock Rom with a stock kernel but a rooted phone.
And seriously man, if you're not going to help just f*** off.

Hey..Stock Kernel+Unrevoked=Rooted Stock Rom..
It wont take in an OTA..
If you need the OTA, you do need to unroot.
Ok then, i obviously messed up.
Now i'm downloading a stock rom and i'm going to flashh the ruu throgh fastboot. Should that work?
Any advice would be really great guys, i just want to get this fixed.
It should..
Ok, i'll try that and report back in case anybody finds this thread helpful in the future!
Update: it worked! I'm out of the woods!!
Note to self (and anybody else who dosn't know): OTA are a big no-no for andt rooted device, no matter what rom or kernel you are running!!
I tried some custom roms but and having trouble getting the google addon to work so I decided to try and restore my original backup. I do a full wipe and the restore works fine and I have no error messages. When I reboot it just goes to the HTC screen and then reboots back to recovery. If I try and reboot the same thing happens but I am still able to loan a custom rom back on.
It's very frustrating because coming from the Hero I never had a problem with flashing customs roms or going back to stock. Any suggestions?
Restoring a backup won't be going back to stock. You need to use the RUU for the stock ROM the phone came with originally (or an update of it). Did you make a note of the original software version before flashing a custom ROM?
Yes, I do have the software version (at home). What next?
Download the matching RUU and run that in Windows to go back to 100% stock. Post up the version when you get home and I'll (hopefully) find you a working link
Hey everyone,
I have recently decided to go back to the stock rom for desire hd, and so i have wiped the phone completely, deleted everything there is on it. Downloaded one of the version of the stock rom from the website, but whenever I go to the "install zip from sd card" and choose my rom, it starts loading as it would usually do, but then after like 1 second it just brings me back to the main menu of the clockwork mod and nothing happens. I don't understand whats going wrong. can someone help me please, I would greatly appreciate it.
Download ROM again and verify MD5

Weird. Try downloading the stock ROM again and see if that helps. Sometimes things go wrong with compressed files. Best thing to do is verify md5 sum on the download source and the download you get.
By the way, how about while flashing a custom ROM. Does that go through?
For complete steps to unroot your phone, this is what you need to do.

Yes don't use the PD98IMG.zip to revert to the stock ROM. You need to find an RUU that matches the state your phone was originally in. So for me that would be an unbranded 1.72 for Vodafone UK. However if you have S-Off and if you have changed the CID of the phone then you will need to flash a 1.32 RUU that has similar settings to your original phone state, so that then you can perform steps 2-5 on that link above.
Only then will you receive software updates which makes your phone completely stock.
Guys
I have installed Clean ROM a year or so ago and all is working fine. Today, i dropped the tablet and for some reason it is now refusing to switch on. It will switch on when i do a soft reset, but then as soon as the screen goes into sleep mode, it will no longer switch back on when i press the home, or the on button.
I think its now got a hardware fault, so will look to send it back, but i need help to get it back to Stock ROM. Its a P600 device, and a UK model.
Unfortunately, a friend of mine installed this Clean ROM for me, and i have no idea how to get it back to the STOCK ROM so i can send for repair. Id really appreciate it if someone could talk me through it. Happy to pay a little donation if that helps?
Any takers?
Your screen problem is probably a backlight problem, same as in this thread.
To return your tablet back to stock, download the stock SM-P600 firmware for the UK from here. Follow the instructions on the page.
Note that this will NOT reset the KNOX flag. There's no way to do that.
Thank you for this - its definitely a backlight issue. Seems there is no way to fix this. All i can do is get it back to stock rom and then hope they dont notice the Knox trigger.
Is that stock rom you sent the link to the current UK one? I hope i can follow the instructions - would you mind responding if i have any queries...?

Hi, just to confirm is the process the same even if i have clean ROM installed?
It should be the current UK one, but I'm not positive. Once you've flashed any version of the UK stock ROM, you should be able to use Kies to update to the latest version regardless.
And yes, process is the same even if you have a custom ROM installed. You might want to boot into stock recovery and do a factory reset right after flashing, just to be safe.
