Guys
I have installed Clean ROM a year or so ago and all is working fine. Today, i dropped the tablet and for some reason it is now refusing to switch on. It will switch on when i do a soft reset, but then as soon as the screen goes into sleep mode, it will no longer switch back on when i press the home, or the on button.
I think its now got a hardware fault, so will look to send it back, but i need help to get it back to Stock ROM. Its a P600 device, and a UK model.
Unfortunately, a friend of mine installed this Clean ROM for me, and i have no idea how to get it back to the STOCK ROM so i can send for repair. Id really appreciate it if someone could talk me through it. Happy to pay a little donation if that helps?
Any takers?
Your screen problem is probably a backlight problem, same as in this thread.
To return your tablet back to stock, download the stock SM-P600 firmware for the UK from here. Follow the instructions on the page.
Note that this will NOT reset the KNOX flag. There's no way to do that.
Thank you for this - its definitely a backlight issue. Seems there is no way to fix this. All i can do is get it back to stock rom and then hope they dont notice the Knox trigger.
Is that stock rom you sent the link to the current UK one? I hope i can follow the instructions - would you mind responding if i have any queries...?

Hi, just to confirm is the process the same even if i have clean ROM installed?
It should be the current UK one, but I'm not positive. Once you've flashed any version of the UK stock ROM, you should be able to use Kies to update to the latest version regardless.
And yes, process is the same even if you have a custom ROM installed. You might want to boot into stock recovery and do a factory reset right after flashing, just to be safe.

I attempted to restore my fiance's S3 to full factory stock about a month ago now, after I received a prompt for the ~82MB OTA update, and she didn't... She was tired of me taking her phone and keeping it out of her hot little hands whilst I made nandroids and flashed the latest updates to BlazerROM, and she didn't have a problem with stock ROM, so I figured I'd put it back for her.
Well, I did, and I KNOW I left CWRecovery in, and not sure if I left root or not, but she STILL has not received the OTA update which still bugs me... So I need to know what is the BEST method for FULL STOCK RECOVERY? I don't want her missing out when the Jelly Bean official drops, and I may flash mine back when it hits just to test it out...
I found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1935973
Which directed me to QBKing's site, but also warned that the video was now somewhat dated...
Am I assume that by saving her text messages and contacts, and flashing the ODIN .tar listed on this page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1919919 and just letting her re-install her apps, is an effective way to return to FULL and UNMODIFIED stock? Should I run Triangle-Away before proceeding? Will this return the device status to Unmodified (or whatever it says) as opposed to "Custom" in the Status page, as it currently shows for her, in case of warranty needs?
Sorry to be "That Guy", but some of the other topics where a bit vague and lacked details, so I figure if we can get something Semi-Detailed and answering most of the big/general questions, perhaps this could serve as a Go-To thread for others who wish to do this...

Thread youve mentioned above also works fine. If using odin method, run triangle away beforehand. Neither method will wipe data. Depending on the rom you're coming from, it may not be necessary. If you flash without wiping and the rom fails to boot(hangs on glowing samsung logo), go back to recovery and factory reset. Itll boot right up

i cant thumbs-up you hard enough.... thanks for that awesome pile of resources
JUST TO CLARIFY!
On your thread you updated just this morning with the flash-counter reset included, just run in CWR, and all is good, if not, then factory reset, and all is good? Or factory reset, reflash, all is good?
EDIT: FLashed
In download mode;
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SPH-L710
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: NO
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE (not sure what that one is haven't done more than root with oden and flash)
System status troubles me... ODEN flash, or let it full reboot? I went into download to check before first initial boot after flash. will allow full boot and see what happens...
EDIT 2: Well, android system status shows Normal... Girl woke up and took her phone back, so will check oden later.
Yup the one updated today is just that. Flash and reboot. Youll be 100% stock
The system status in odin will probably fix itself after booting. If not a factory reset should do it

Seems to have worked. I wish I had money to donate to your wonderful work. Hopefully she'll be receiving prompts for OTA updates for JellyBean shortly... Thanks for also having it up to date. At least I gather it DOES include the ~82MB update she's been missing... Keep up the wonderful work friend!
Glad to hear it. Much appriciated. Now if only the damn thing would be stickied...XD

Whoever I need to tell, I support sticky'ing the thread.
First of all, yes, I am an idiot, and yes, I have looked through the forums but just have to make sure I am downloading the correct thing.
So, a while ago, I rooted my t-mobile galaxy s3.
Today, I wanted to download a root-compatible app, it didn't work, turns out that my root somehow became disabled ( I might have accidentally wiped the superuser binaries)
So, I try to re-root my phone...several times. I finally think I have it rooted (using the official xda guide on how to root), and everything was fine, until i try to use superuser and it turns out that I am not rooted...for whatever reason. I do a hard reset a couple of times, it still shows that I am running alternate software and cannot update. I try to flash a stock rom to my phone, and that just simply fails on odin.
Now, I have completely formatted the SD and internal storage (probably very stupid), and I am just wondering how I could possibly flash a stock rom onto my phone, and if you could please link one because I believe the one I tried was not for my device.
If not, please provide some suggestions on what I should do. My device works, so it's not really time-sensitive, but I do want to re-root my android after I revert to stock roms, properly this time.
Thank you for your time and help!
Fixed
Fixed the problem, will be posting tutorial in the morning for anyone who might have the same issues!
Waiting for u!!
I bought my N7100 used. Plugging the phone in while turned off wouldn't lead to it displaying a battery bar that shows how much it's charged, but rather a loading circle that's crashed. Now it has developed some other oddities like Wifi not being able to be turned on in this one Deep Impact ROM, and I figured I'd finally get this stuff over with by just reflashing the stock firmware, then putting a custom ROM on it.
Only problem is, where can I find the stock firmware? And which tool could I flash it with? Are there any linux-based ones? Just to be clear, I don't want to return to the stock ROM, I want to actually reflash the firmware, including the bootloader and everything else stored on the phone's memory I suppose. On my old Motorola Droid/Milestone that used to be an .sbf file, not sure what it would be like here.
I hope someone can help me, that would be really cool.

1. Stock firmware and stock ROM are one and the same thing.
2. Flashing stock rom/firmware might erase data on your internal SD card. So backup the data for safekeeping.
3. Go to sammobile.com --> firmware section and search for N7100
4. You will find latest 4.4.2 firmwares in the list. Choose one from your region. If you are from India, the firmware should be N7100XXUFNI1
4. Use ODIN 3.09 to flash d firmware. Put your firmware in AP tab and start. Sit back and let Odin do the rest.
5. After flashing, your phone should boot to a language selection screen and Odin should convey PASS message.
6. After that you can follow the link given here for root procedure: http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/root-galax...d-4-4-2-kitkat-install-philz-recovery-1447891
7. Your wifi and battery icon should work fine. But you will have a kitkat bootloader. Which means downgrading below 4.4.2 would not be possible anymore.
Hit thumps up if you found this suggestion helpful.

Hello All,
Due to my endless frustrations, this might be a long one so please bear with me!
So I purchased a Verizon Global HTC ONE M7 from the States, I am currently in Nigeria and the only thing that makes me sadder and more frustrated than the state of my phone right now is the incessant terror attacks in the country! Initially, almost everything worked fine when i popped in my new Etisalat sim card into the phone, except for the mobile hotspot (which just conveniently turns out to be the one of the top 3 most important features in a phone for me - probably the feature I use the most) this message kept popping up about how hotspot couldn't be used without a VZW sim, etc (also with the non-verizon sim warning when the phone boots up). I tried all I could, eventually deciding to flash a new ROM to clear out everything Verizon and start fresh.
Enter Viperone 6.2.0 - everything worked initially, but after a few weeks i noticed if I did anything like watch a youtube video or download something over a few MBs 90% of the time the data drops (no visible signs like changes from E to H or 3g or the likes, everything looks the same, just that the data stops), toggle mobile data on/off and data connection is back. It worsened and became more frequent over time. Upgraded to Viperone 6.2.1, no difference, so i figured its probably the viperone rom.
Enter Cyanogenmod - http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...-oneplus-one-stock-rom-cm11s-verizon-t2857425 - and its the same exact issue from the beginning, so im guessing its not to do with the ROM at all (though there are one or two niggling issues with the ROM - cant change BBM display pic, etc)?! I've really tried to comb through the forum and see what makes sense that i could try without bugging y'all - I did a factory reset, wiped everything completely and its the same thing.
I've seen suggestions to similar issues like: flash stock recovery, update radio/firmware/kernel, flash back to custom recovery and some other things which are beginning to sound quite dangerous in my ignorance!! I did believe updating the firmware made sense but after digging deeper, i must honestly say i'm quite confused on what to do. what radio/firmware/kernel works with what software version, etc- most firmware that i've seen are 4.4.3 compatible, while this ROM is 4.4.4., some of them seem to be for stock ROMs only and a lot of other confusions.
So, I'm not gonna be a hero and brick my phone from trying to do what i do not understand, instead here i am, hat in hand, crying out for help after suffering for 3 months! Its really frustrating as, downloads break causing me to lose data, skype or MSLync calls always break and im beginning to look unprofessional to people! This is why I have decided to put up a post of my own specific to my case so i don't medicate for someone else's ailments. So please........ WHAT EXACTLY DO I DO??
PHONE DETAILS (typing it out as i've just realized on this ROM i can't take screenshots with Power+Home button combo anymore and can't be bothered at this point!!!)
ANDROID VERSION: 4.4.4
BASEBAND VERSION: 1.12.41.1112_2
KERNEL VERSION: 3.4.82-gfe09065; [email protected] #1; Wed oct 8 01:36:03 PDT 2014
BUILD DATE: SUN AUG 3 23:00:51 PDT 2014
BUILD NUMBER: CYANOGENMOD 11S v5 (Verizon)

Have you tried a stock version of sense? Essentially what our phone was meant to run. Viper uses a lot of custom tweaks for the masses, and sometimes carrier specifics get finicky. I would suggest santods stock Rom, bonestock, or ecliptic. I think nusense uses an international base and not strictly vzw, but you could also try that one...and santod can clarify about the details.
Hope you get it going.

Can you flash stock recovery from Santod's firmware thread and do a factory reset? It could be a corrupt nv partition which would only be fixed by doing a factory reset via stock recovery. (If you must, make a nandroid of system and data in your recovery of choice so you can restore your data if you wish).

So.. i found time to get to this and decided to go with your suggestion of Santod's stock rom... and now, i think i've done the unthinkable!! After WIPING EVERYTHING "All partitions except SD!" as the instructions stated... i attempted to reboot into bootloader and got a message saying "no OS installed, are you sure you want to reboot"... that scared me a bit, but i thought surely, it must be part of the process! I proceed to reboot to bootloader to flash the firmware and i cant seem to do anything!!
Fastboot is stuck on " waiting for device" for everything i try.
Also, i rebooted back into recovery and attempted to install the stock rom: i get the error message "unable to open zip file"..
Have i destroyed my phone with my own hands, people? :crying:

FALSE ALARM FOLKS!!! I decided to attempt flashing the CM11 rom i just uninstalled and it worked. Turns out its a known issue with the .zip file for that rom - i am now re-downloading from another mirror. Meanwhile the Fastboot thing was just a driver issue - though i'm surprised because i had all the drivers installed on the system and have used fastboot successfully - anyway i reinstalled the drivers and all was well with fastboot again.
NB: Don't get tired of me just yet please!

If doing factory reset from stock recovery doesn't fix it, it is most likely a burned SIM. It has happened to me. (Average 150+ GB a month in data, so I burn em easily)

Uz has it right, you need to flash a stock recovery and THEN do a factory reset, then reload your custom recovery and rom. I had the exact same issue before. Or you could flash an ruu file which would reset the partitions also.

Hey folks, apologies for the touch and go nature of this thread - i just don't have a lot of free time on my hands and other reasons..
Anyhow, i think I want to try out ur suggestion of flashing an RUU - I noticed that im unable to actually enter recovery after flashing stock recovery from Santod's thread (i flashed the latest three recoveries). I can get to bootloader, but when i select recovery, the phone goes black for a few seconds and then i get the RED TRIANGLE WITH THE EXCLAMATION MARK INSIDE, obviously something's wrong, few seconds later the phone reboots itself into normal mode. I did do a factory reset from bootloader, but issue persists.
So now to the RUU flashing issue - could you suggest one for me to flash?
By the way though, isn't flashing an ruu gonna take me back to stock completely (as in back to S-ON, ETC..)?
Thanks a whole bunch - IM DETERMINED TO GET THIS TO WORK!!!

That is in fact stock recovery man. When you get the triangle press volume up and power at the same time. You will enter stock recovery.
Any of my ruu will run fine. You won't lose s-off or unlocked status. You flash them in boot loader fastboot mode.

HA! and now i feel :silly: !!
Bless your soul! i'll give it a go shortly...
A few days ago, my samsung started to act funny. I tried to send texts, but my phone just kept saying that it was sending the texts and hours later it would tell me that it failed to send the text. I thought it was weird, but I left it alone. Then, my phone no longer let me download any apps, every time I would try to download an app it would just stay loading without actually making any progress. Finally, I got sick of it so I tried to factory reset my phone. Only now, I can't get past the T-mobile splash screen. I bought this phone off ebay about 10 months ago and when I tried to update it, I was informed that the device was modified even though it was running stock firmware (no sd card at the time). Can someone please tell me how to fix my phone? I don't exactly have the funds to get a new one.
Try re-flashing a stock ROM from sammobile.com. Just make sure that the ROM you flash is not older than the ROM currently on the phone.
If you are unsure about the ROM on your phone and there is no warranty left, you could flash a custom recovery and custom ROM too.
I agree with audit13 that you should flash the stock firmware. It's the only way to reliably troubleshoot problems such as this.
I'm assuming it's a T999 or variant. If so rather than go to sammobile.com, you can find all firmware in my thread stickied in the development section and linked in my sig. (Much Faster download and you don't have to register on another site)
As warned above, just do not flash any older firmware (if your already on 4.3) than what is on the device. Only the same or newer.
