Right so my gnex will randomly stop charging at random points but will continue again when I pull the plug out and plug it back in. Has anybody else noticed it?

I've experiend the same thing and thought it was the charger itself. That's not case, because I was able to plug it into a different outlet and it worked. I've also used that same charger on other devices, and it works. I'm not sure what the problem is, but there are times I have to pull the battery out to get it start charging again.
no one has thought of replacing the battery itself??

So, I turned my phone off to charge it one night and realized I left my charger in the car. My G2x charger was still in my room. So, I plugged it in. To my surprise, instead of charging my phone, it put my GS2 into download mode.
So, now instead of messing with the buttons trying to get it right, I just turn my phone off, plug it into that charger and then plug it into my computer to use with Odin.
I have no idea why it does this, but hey, I kind of like it.
And, that is my dumb story for the day.

Maybe a pin configuration diff in the charger. That's about the only thing I can think of that may be able to pull it off. Good to know. Thanks
I would not trust using a wierd cable in Odin, good thing it didn't disconnect or anything during the flash or you could of very well bricked the device
just words of caution

that would man it is basically like a jig, forcing DL mode without actually initiating it
which would make it really cool

I semi-bricked my device for a few minutes because my Computer froze when I was updating to 2.3.6 and it shut down Odin. Sooo happy I got it fixed

Weird. I wonder why mine doesn't. Do you use it with the phone off?
My g2x charger does the same. There have been threads on it already.
Here's one. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1314284
This also means that we now can have a jig for bricked phones, right? Figure out what's the pin configuration that forces it into download mode?

My dog bit mine, at the LG sign. It turned it into a jig.
Hello,
I think something is wrong with my nexus. The battery charger from Samsung wont charge very good. When I use the phone while charging it doesn't charge. And I hear buzzing sounds when it charges. Normally I hear that only when my charger is plugged in the power but not in the phone itself. I run aokp B33. Do you know if something is wrong?

Your options are:
1) Change back to stock and see if that resolves
2) Change it to a different ROM see if that resolves
3) Get a replacement if 1 and/or 2 fails
Although, it does sound like hardware related to me...
The "buzzing" happens with most of our chargers if you're talking about the high pitch whine.
But how could it be hardware related.. I didnt do anything different.

Take the advice and run with it. If you don't help yourself troubleshoot then why ask? That is a very common troubleshooting method to return x hardware/software to factory specifications. You took it out spec putting custom software on it.
sent with 3g courage. better recognize.
Im just asking it myself. Take the advice and run with it? You were such a good help. Just restored my nandroid backup from a week ago and did a battery pull and I see it charging faster.

got the high pitch thing too with my charger... but I was told that isn't good for the phone... and I realized I had 35°-38° before the sound, and now 45° up to 50° while charging... I'm going to replace it, I just hope it doesn't cost the world xD I already gave samsung €600

Remove battery (and leave it out) and plug into computer - anything turn on?
Could be the cable your using.... maybe it isn't charging therefore dead battery in both cases. Could be the battery just died on the s3 before it finished booting.... the fact the the s2 is in the same boat is suspect.
I will try that and get back to you when i get the chance......thanks

Can you 3 finger boot into download mode? If so Odin flash the stock firmware.
Seems extremely odd, do you have access to another cable? what happens if you plug the stock s2 into the cable same thing? Still sounds like there is no power being supplied, if you have a car charger maybe try that if you can't borrow another cable. The reason I suspect this is you have your stock s2 that is in the same trouble which is weird.....
Hi today found out that my note is acting strange whenever I try to charge while its on it wont let me the charging icon shows with a big red cross on it and wont charge a bit it just keeps draining. Tried while its off and it works normally , disturbs me to have to turn it off each time I want to charge it, anyone experienced this before?

are you using the stock charger. if not make sure that the aftermarket charger is a 2A charger.
Its the usb connection signal. Mine did that occasionaly too, but not lately. It should recognize its charging after a second or two

i have no issues when using stock charger and cable, I run across this with other charges and cables that are less than 2 amps though
what kind of charger are you using or cable?
Thanks for your answers guys its the stock one which makes this kinda strange.
Yes this has happened to me on a couple of occasions. Unplugging and plugging it back in solved the problem. I also discovered that not only does the charger matter, but I got different results (charging times) using the same charger but different cables. Maybe there are different guage wire used in the cables?

yes, the cable also matters to handle the extra amps, so you need both the stock charger and cable combo
My stock cable went bad somehow and I had the same problem. It wouldn't charge at all. Even overnight

After reading this thread, I went and downloaded an app called Galaxy Charging Current. I know there are a lot of battery management apps out there, but this is a really simple, basic app that tells you how many amps are flowing thro the charger and cable to your device. My device using OEM pulls 1.8A.
I'll be buying a car charger from Amazon and will use this app to determine if it performs as claimed.

I've been having issues the last few days charging my Sprint Galaxy s3. When plugged in, the phone will recognized that it should be charging, but the battery will not charge. When turned off and plugged in, it charges very slowly, maybe 1 percent every half an hour. I've tried many different USB cables, but that does not seem to be the issue as the same cables charged my Nexus 7 just fine. I had the battery tested at the sprint store, and they told me that it was fine. Anybody have some insight to help me out?

Sorry for not being clear, but I meant to say I had to get my phone replaced. The sprint tech people tried fixing it but their fix only worked for a day.
