[Q] Gio performance [ROMs] - Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660

Hi... (I'm sorry for all the language mistakes, I'm from Poland) [Used Translator]
I have a question...
What software to the phone is better and why?
Android 2.3.x [CM 7]?
Android 4.2.x [CM 10]?
Supposedly CM 10 for Gio is a laggy Project, I had this ROM a earlier...
Is there some way to work efficient CM10?

for me, the 2.3 roms are the most stable. Also, if you're going to look at the rankings, most sites contain 2.3 roms. CM7 has more development. And, you can just install JB theme.

yeah, but also because 4.x.x roms offer more options and with some devices the RAM usage is better.

I used cm7 for few months, then changed it on cm10. Personally for me cm7 is more stable than cm10 but with time cm10 could be improved.

I know, I just guessed it. Maybe check your battery stats to find out whats draining your battery?

I always go back to CM 7.2 or rarely , CM 7.2 based roms , like JellyBread for example if you want a taste of JB. I just like all the speed i can get and functionality , i don`t care about anything else like gaming / eye candy and stuff like that.

My Defy Disappointment... no luck finding good rom

Hello
I've stop counting after 2000 hours spending flashing roms on my defy...
I came to a conclusion that no ICS/JB version will be good. everything I've tried eventually ended up with a slow rom that interfere daily use.
so I'm a bit disappointed about it cause I had to get back to CM7.2.
I've searched all over the net - what is the fastest rom for defy...and all forums say it's the CM7.
If someone can think of other version that works faster please let me know.
I really need FAST phone, and willing to flash an old rom, but to get stability and speed.
thanks for helping!
and thanks to all dev's that gave their souls in order to bring the newest rom to that old phone.
Try this rom :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1882737
if this one will be to slow or you , then you need Galaxy SIII

Already tried that before posting :victory:
anyway, it is a bit slower than latest Quarx Build.

I tried V5 and V5.1. Both are based on Quarx 0409. V5.1 is supercharged, and is slower then original Quarx.
Rom has AOKP weather icons and some tweaks and cherries. Apex is default launcher, battery life is worst than original.
There are 3 versions for defy+, normal, overclocked and undervolted.
Good rom but latest Quarx`s nightly is much fluid.
Developer of this rom (Defy +++ from Androidhilfe) will released next version based on latest Quarx in couple few days.

the problem with ms2g is that after a while, it start to be sooo sloooww....
I was using ms2g for a long time...really liked that rom.
I think you all just need to admit what morotola realized long time ago... the defy cannot support further then GingerBread..
Try paranoid android its fast and almost stable.
Because of the controversy and arguments they inevitably generate, "best ROM" threads are prohibited on XDA. Thread closed.

Stable CM ROM for Wildfire S

Hello all, I have a Wildfire S and I want to unlock and install a custom ROM. I want to try a CM ROM.
Which is the best for a daily use?
Thanks and best regards.
Hi jlazkano
I'm pretty new to this rooting/custom rom party but i loaded Cyanogenmod 9 onto my HTC Wildfire s and althought this biuld is technically still in alpha i think, its stable and its my daily rom. Had no problems with it, very pleased.
androidadvices . com have a really good tutorial on how to get it onto the device.
Hello,
I've tried both CM9 and CM10 and I think CM10 is better. First it is nearly stable. Second it is twice faster than CM9 (even more, but I don't know if the word thrice exists in English ). And third... it 4.1 Jelly Bean ! With Google Now, the amazing notification bar, and... the little 4.1.2 in the "About phone" section
Good unlocking and enjoy !

Hi,
Have just installed CM10 as someone commented earlier, it is still Alpha but it is very smooth and quick and if you use apps2sd you have a lot of free space to try and fill with apps
Thanks both!
Could you put the links to the ROM and Google Apps?
Thanks and best regards.

Here is cm10 : link .
Here are the modded gapps to fit in the small /system partition of our device : link .
Here is the Int2Ext+ script (works quite fine for me) : link .
If you have problems with gapps search the support thread (here for marvel).
Enjoy !
Following the advice on the page, i 'upgraded' from CM9 to CM10 and i must say, ealy days for me yet, but i reckon that CM10 is better then CM9. It just seems more stable and smooth and faster.

Which ROM are you using ? I can say that CM10 ROMs have emerged as a beauty now
They are a lot faster and stable now. Well, of course you will have to use MIUI camera and stuff like that to make all the possibilities of the phone to work I mean, camera won't work like stock. There... I said it. Camera won't be good in any of the CM10/CM9 ROMs . But you will have an advantage like you can use the latest of Android. You can mod it anyway you want it to. And regarding the lag that you have mentioned, I guess that will happen when you use init.d scripts for INT2EXT and stuff like that. When the number of apps increases then depletes the internal storage making the phone slower.
Well, i still have to say that the GB ROMs are best for our phone. I mean , its flawless. Everything works , including camera. You can add flash support if you want to (You gotta be rooted to do these stuff). Battery is also good.
For those who are bored by the GB look and feel, CM ROMs are for you guys. I mean , if you don't use camera at all , then CM ROMs are prefect for you. Djolivier's marvelous ROM is a Good-To-Go ROM . It gives you a balanced battery + Performance. He has added the Aroma installer in it which makes you the one who customizes it as per your need.
And could you give me an advice or link to a single thread that will help to install this new jelly bean on my HTC Wildfire S if possible, I've never done this kind of thing before.

[Q] What's the point of using ICS/JB-based roms?

I can't figure it out so maybe someone will help me (using MIUI as example).
What exactly is the benefit of using JB-based MIUI over GB-based MIUI apart from the fact of having the newest thing on the block? I found only TWO minor things:
- good voice recognition of Android 4+ (I don't even know if MIUI has it built in)
- in MIUI JB you can have pattern screenlock as a single lock. There is no way of avoiding double screenlock on GB MIUI.
So is it really worth loosing HALF of the Quadrant score - I get ~950 points in JB MIUI and 1900 in GB MIUI (which I suppose means JB roms are two times slower than GB roms) and some extra space on data partition?
Did you seriously just write that.

Everyone knows benchmarks are worthless in the grand scheme of things. Except for testing new high end phones (even then there not accurate enough.)
GB MIUI is probably a little faster but no were near 2 TIMES faster than JB MIUI.
Though MIUI in general was never that fast anyway
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda app-developers app
In the grand scheme of things we could just use Nokias 3100 and our lives would not be much different.
There is a big difference in benchmark result between different roms on the same phone, so obviously it IS measuring something.
GB MIUI is also twice as fast as GB CM7 on my phone.
I'm running Spazedog ICS and i'm getting 2100pts
However, SPazedog is a very stable ROM

I can give you more than that on a froyo rom. It still is a fake score.
- Swyped from my Galaxy Note 2
Aside form arguing whether benchmarks work:
A- Aesthetics, ICS is unbelievably beautiful
B- All the launcher features, Keyboard mouse (if you do some scripting)
C- As mentioned voice recognition is great
D- Upgraded GApps
E- List goes on...its the little things that count
And yes, Spacedog rom for the bravo kicks a**
ICS/JB UI is smoother and more user-friendly. camera is better and faster. overall the experience is better (there are lots of improvements there and there that make things much easier and more enjoyable to use)

Have you never tried a ICS or JB ROM? Just make a backup and flash one. There are really good smooth/stable ICS ROMs, and JB with butter is really tasty, though still some bugs. Not slow at all though. Give it a go.

I think people need to redefine the words 'stable' and 'smooth' as well as 'fast' coz I didn't get those when using ICS or JB (with a tons of bugs that, I think, will not be solved anytime soon).

JB or ICS ROM with best battery life and speed?

I'm going nuts trying to find the best ROM for Gio. Most of the people say that JB and ICS ROMs drain battery. And it makes no sense at all to have a phone that you can't use. Please help me to find best ROM for Gio. Or should I try 2.3.x ROMs like Adrenaline or sth?
try maclaw's ICS or MMB AOSP ics rom.they are fast and have better battery life and a smoother performance.
about JB,try CM10.1 by oldroid its fast but has some kinda lags in the rom
for gingerbread try Enhanced 236,adrenaline rom or S'perience final rom they are fast and have battery life good :good:
So what about maclaw's ICS or MMB AOSP ics's battery lives? Which one do you recommend?
I didn't experienced MMB ICS but I can tell you that Maclaw's ICS has better battery life then old droid JB
I think that MMB ICS is faster than maclaws, but you should try them by yourself.
I'am using olddroid's CM10.1 i can use it much longer than maclaws ics (except wifi is on)..
R: JB or ICS ROM with best battery life and speed?
