HTC One charger busted - One (M7) Accessories

Hi all. I had my One for almost a month now however just this morning I noticed the charger block is not charging the phone anymore.. At first I thought it was the phone having the charging problem but have finally concluded that it was the block having the problem. Have tried shaking it and can hear powder like sound inside. I wanted to open it but there are no screws to even begin with. Anyone experienced the same problem with the charger? Or could there be a way to restore this aside from having it replaced? Thanks in advance.

Powder? Crack it open with a hammer and post pics. You sure you didn't stuff your stash in the USB port. I hear tweakers do some strange things. Lol
Reminds me of a story: One of our nephews was doing that stuff and cut up his parents carpet to shreds in the middle of the night because he was trying to catch "carpet worms" haha.
I would just toss it myself. But then again I have so many alternative charging cords and "blocks" through out the house. Those things are available at every mini mart and store check stand around here for around $5. The wife bought a pink set up just last week so it wouldn't vanish.

Don't even worry about trying to "fix" it , you're more likely to set your house on fire later on if you don't know what you're doing. They are cheap but most people have 2-5 extra lying around anyway.

I'm a bit puzzled now because it suddenly worked again. Could it be that it overheated and shut itself off that time? But it was not even hot earlier. Almost tried cracking it with a hammer but thought of trying it one more time haha!

S III Died on Charger Overnight

I plugged my S III on the charger last night before I had gone to bed. This morning the phone wasn't on and so I thought maybe the charger had gone bad. So I put in my spare Samsung battery. The phone still didn't boot. So I took the battery out and plugged the phone into the computer to see if it would come on. Nothing. I've been running a rooted stock ROM, specifically the one that didn't trip the flash counter. Any ideas?
Was there a storm the night you left it plugged in?
from my AOKP galaxy s3
It could be a short circuit.
What is why I do not plug in all my chargers directly to the wall...
Use a UPS with builtin circuit protector and ground before plugging in your expensive GS3 or iPad 3 or whatever other gadgets you might have.
No, there was no storm. Clear skies all around. The phone gets warm at the bottom like it is charging, but nothing comes on.

Nope. Got it June 25th.
Return to Samsung, the warranty period is one year. You can read more on Warranty Guide (that come with the phone) what is covered and what's not.
Good luck :good:
I knew there was a one year warranty. Was hoping a ota update broke it and I could fix it. Not been my day. Blown suspension on my car this morning.

Damn! Sounds like a ****ty day! Hope things get better for you. Samsung should replace it one would think. But would rooting it void it?

Well the phone isn't turning on at all so I'm not terribly sure how they'd figure out it was rooted. Also, where is the model code? Not the model name, SGH I747. Samsung's site was asking for it and the choices were something like SGHI747MBAATT.

I babied mine too. Has screen protectors in before I got the phone.
Thanks guys. Gonna go by AT&T today after work on the off chance Rey replace it out of the 30 day period. Then I'll call Sammy if they don't.
I think there was some sort of power outage over night in your area and it came back before you woke up.. happened to me once

This is exactly why I installed a whole house surge protector, as well as each outlet in my house are individually surge protected. They cost more when I was building the house, but worth the additional $1K I spent upgrading all my outlets.

Those are what each outlet has. My home theater has a seperate monster 7 outlet protector.

Sounds like a good idea when I decide to have my house built!
Oh that's just neat. And AT&T would not outright exchange it, but I talked to their warranty dept. and they are sending me a new one and I'll out the old one in the box to send back to them. Guy I spoke to said he waived the few for the two day shipping. While I was glad, I couldn't help but feel like not giving warranty issues two day shipping for free to begin with is a bit of a ripoff. My device broke and I may have to wait more than a week to get a new one? Wth?

How many times has your Nexus been replaced? + rant

I got my first Nexus about a month ago. About 3 days ago the charging port kicked the bucket. I couldn't charge it at all. I called Verizon and got a warranty replacement. Cool. Came in about 5 hours ago. The very first thing I noticed upon powering up the replacement was that it had moderate/severe screen burn-ins. As well as random spots all over that don't match the color/tint of the rest of the screen.
So at this point I'm pretty much heated. My first nexus was a CPO (certified pre owned) as well. I got VZW to swap my Stratosphere for it.
Anyway... I figured I'd download a ROM to install until my next nexus comes in (#3) because I hate being on stock. I get a low battery warning so I plug it in. I notice IT'S DOING THE EXACT SAME THING AS MY LAST ONE. Any little bit of pressure or movement of the charger causes my phone to lose connection and stop charging..... I tried my original charger. I tried my brothers Droid 3 charger and even the brand new charger I bought when my first nexus started having issues. None of them work! So I tried all of those chargers on my brothers and dads phone and they work fine!! No amount of movement disrupts charging on their phones at all with any of my cables. I tried every combo of charging cable/phone as well as using different power outlets on different breakers. I couldn't believe I got a phone out of the box with the exact same problem I'm trying to return my original one for. This is ridiculous!!!
"Sir, all of our certified pre owned devices pass a 100-point inspection" *cough*BS*cough* If you actually put this phone through a 100 point inspection then somebody needs to get fired because it should have failed the moment he looked at the screen. It's that obvious. Unless they don't inspect the screen - at least when it's on (which makes no sense to me).
So I was wondering if you guys had similar experiences? I knew I was sending my replacement I just opened up back - literally seconds after I powered it on.
Anyways now that my rant is over, how many times have you had to get your nexus replaced before you got a good one?
That sounds like bad luck pal. My own GNex is a GSM one I got a couple of weeks ago pre-owned and it is running fine. It does seem a bit of a lottery regarding the build quality. Does the LTE version tend to have more issues than the GSM?
I've had no problems with my GSM Galaxy Nexus.

I have no idea. Only ever been with Verizon. I just can't believe I tell them that my charge port died so they send me a replacement with a dead charge port. Plus a faulty screen. Double whammy lol. #3 is being over-nighted to me free of charge. I'll post back some more results about that one tomorrow. I wish I had a camera to take pictures of the screen of my replacement. I'd use my other nexus, but as I said I got it CPO which means I had to buy a battery seperate and only have 1.

I had the charging port issues with an older nexus.take a small jewellers screw driver and gently pry the small wafer tab you see a hair away from the wall its close to, that will fix it just be very gentle and pull the battery first. I had the same issues until I did that.

Bought mine begining of July, had issues charging sent it in and came back two weeks later with new port. Strangely before the repair it would charge to 100% and I usually could get around 3.5-4 hrs of screen time and 16+ hours before needing to charge, now with the new port only goes to 92% and screen time 2.5 hrs and about 12 hours sometimes less, haven't changed my usage, really wonder if they borked my battery somehow during the repair. Mine was manufactured march 2012.
Verizon GNex since late April/early May, no issues here.

Defective Mophies...Anyone else?

What's up folks...I've got an issue with three different Mophie's and wanted some opinions.
Upon getting the cases, all works well. Lights are working/displaying, power button is active, switch works great, etc.
On all 3 cases (2 black cases from Best Buy and 1 silver from mophie directly) they randomly become unresponsive and dead to world at random times.
The only way I have found to "revive" them is to plug them in and the lights will show fully charged and ready to roll...only to do the exact same thing less than a minute later.
I've reached out to Mophie, and they had no idea what I was talking about...and I've returned the 2 black cases to Best Buy. I'm due to send the silver one back tomorrow, but was really hoping to avoid doing this, as it's the only case I've come across that I actually like...aside from this lovely little issue, that is.
So yeah...any best practices or anything would be ultra helpful.
Only thing I can really think of at this point would be either my phone or there is just something wrong in general with the packs...but I just find that so hard to believe, as there are countless out there that aren't having these issues. And if they are, I haven't been able to fid anything on line just yet.
Thanks again for any help, I really appreciate it.
I actually had the exact same issue on my first Mophie for the One. I had to kind of "jump start" it even though it was charged. Wouldn't light up or charge. Then I exchanged it after a couple days, and the micro-usb port on the replacement was bent (badly enough that the case wouldn't seal.) The third unit I got works perfectly, I love it. Thankfully I work at Best Buy and exchanging it only took a couple minutes.
I would recommend you swap it out until you get a good one.
Right on. That's kind of what I was afraid of. Good to know it's nothing on my end, just sucks that it might be one of those revolving door issues until I get lucky enough to find one that jives.
Thanks.

I don't know about dead in minutes, but I've definitely felt the batteries are draining out much, much faster than they should. I'm considering doing a return or exchange to Best Buy (across the street from work, great stuff) soon. At least they price-matched against Amazon post purchase.
Mine does it on occasion, I just deal with it. Over all the case is a lifesaver.
Yeah, I've loved them in the past. But sadly a case that gives me 5% and then is useless until I can give it a jump start from a wall charger for another 5%.
I mean, if I was around a wall charger all the time, I wouldn't need the case.
Really a bummer.

I had a definite scare where mine wouldn't do jack for the first few days, but now things have evened out, and some error messages on my work computer yesterday tipped me off that the USB port I'd been using to charge was just flat out faulty. I think I'll run caseless for now (or buy a slimmer case), but definitely going to hold onto this for a trip.
Mine is doing the same thing. I bought it and the phone last Friday and used it Saturday but it did not seem to work. This is my fist Mophie and I could not remember what exactly to expect from reading the instructions. I took it home and charged it and all was good, or so I thought. I tried using it Monday and it showed to start charging my phone only for me to start hearing the phone warning of low battery every few seconds. I messed with it and it started working but only charged the phone for an hour than was dead. had to plug in to get a responce from it. I will take it back to BB and try another,.
I've got a replacement phone coming in tomorrow for other reasons...so I'm curious to see if anything changes. I REALLY want to keep this silver mophie, but it isn't looking likely.
Really hope someone from Mophie can voice on the matter, as I'm curious to see how widespread these issues are

Stay away from the Mophie Juice Pack for the HTC One

The first one I had started glitching after the first day of using it. It wouldn't turn on and the battery check button stopped working. I sent it to Mophie and they replaced it and even swapped for the color I wanted which was silver. The silver one worked a little bit longer but after a couple of days, same thing. Also the silver one started turning yellow and getting dingey really fast. I sent that one back as well and had them again swap the color back to black. I cannot complain about their support department at all. Very fast and friendly. Well, I'm on my third one and it STILL has the same problem. It wont work until you plug it in for minute and it will randomly stop working again. When it did work, it was great. It would charge from 1% to 100% EASILY. I just wish they'd get this product in line.
I agree with this post. My HTC One mophie has same problem. Seems a waste of time sending in. Replacements have same problem. Great concept, poor implementation.

I can totally relate to you. Everything has also happened to me as well. What a waste of money this was. I felt like breaking them but i can't sense i spent so much on them lol.
2 months for me as well...anyone know of a reputable alternative?
My Morphie is very strange. As best as I can tell, it only charges both the internal phone and case battery when the phone is turned off. I get some luck when I run down the internal phone battery to near depletion (with little switch pushed outward and showing red) and then switching until the green shows on the switch. This starts to recharge the phone battery. I get about 18-20 hours overall use excluding when the phone is turned off and charging. Far less than ideal.
Anyone tried the I-blason variety? It's about $60 on Amazon and seems like a nice alternative. I tried a cheap (Power Bank) alternative on ebay.. Terrible idea. It's on its way back now.

Saltwater damage

I fell in the water with my phone. Salt water at that. Once I came to, my phone had a blinking light coming from the camera flash. I took battery out and let dry. Today I got up, took phone completely apart, cleaned with contact cleaner. Was ALOT of salt inside the phone. Anyways I got it cleaned up as best I could, pretty clean. Let dry again for a few hours.
Its back together now, turns on. Screen goes all crazy, pink and fuzzy. Pulsing blue led on front for about 10 seconds. Then nothing. Tried USB to PC nothing.
I found these phone don't come fully apart. I can take out main board, camera and a few plastic parts. But that's it. Lots of phone to take apart but no guides past this point and all the teardowns bring me to the same point.
Any ideas? Maybe bath the screen and what left for electrical components in alcohol?
Thanks

Sea water messes up components, think you should consider a new phone
Yea bro I'm gunna say that trying to fix it is more money and effort then just buying a new one
I already bought a new phone. Got another i747m. $400 didn't wanna mess with used phones again, last 3 used phones all ended up having an issue one way or another. Save a few bucks gain a few headaches.
Thanks for confirming what I thought though.
I am going to investigate fixing the phone. Still.
I got it to boot more now, pulsing boot led, vol buttons make a sound when I press them. I used my multimeter to test most of the connections. Everything I could check is fine. I think there is more salt behind the screen and behind the 2 small PCB chips that I couldn't get off. Going to try excessive force this time. Nothing to loose.
Is it safe to use the battery still? Its not swollen or nothing. Or should I not bother being as the water mark on the battery is pink?
