[Q] LTE = H+ for I9505 roms? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

I was wondering if the H+ symbol I get for the Omega rom means it is LTE? There are times when it says E, 3G and 4G as well. I'm assuming the H+ is when it is on LTE here in Chicago.

I Would like to add, on TMO rom it seemed to me like they are marking H+ as 4G as well, which on normal roms (i9505) they are not.
i had 2 Galaxy S4 in my hand, one with TMO rom and one with i9505 rom. (With TMO sim in both)
the TMO showed up 4G and the i9505 showed H+
but when looking inside the debug menu, they both were in H+ channel,
speedtest showed the same speed as well.
so what i think is that TMO is "Cheating" by stating "i'm on 4G network" which should be only LTE,
but you are on 3.5G network (H+)

So why does it go between 4g and 4gLTE?

you could also correct that by just changing the build.prop lines to the tmobile values and you get your normal icons back for 4G and 4GLTE. I did this since I am running Omega as well.

Would this work on an AOSP rom as well ? If so, can please you post the build.prop lines that need changing? (including what to change them to)
Thanks in advance

I honestly do not know that this will work on an AOSP rom. My bet is that they probably wouldn't- and if you're running an AOSP rom built for the M919 you'd already have the correct build.prop values:
ro.product.model= SGH-M919
ro.product.name=jfltetmo
ro.product.device=jfltetmo

I see. Those are the current values for those lines. Thanks anyway

Why don't you just do a speed test?

How do you change the build prop? Also, will this effect the changes I made with 3 minit settings?

I'm on omega. Change your build prop to get T-Mobile icons. You could also go in settings/status and check if your in hspa or LTE. I have LTE now in Cleveland and see 4g LTE for my data icons

A simple text editor works, it's located at /build.prop
Otherwise there are several options on Play, just search for build prop.

Thanks i changed the name, model, and device in build prop, but it still uses 3g and 4g.
Nevermind it now. Shows lte for lte and 4g for hspa after the edit of the build prop

Tmobile's 4g has always been hspa+ They are just starting to roll out LTE. AT&T did this also. They billed hspa+ as 4g, and then rolled out LTE later, which they currently market to compete with verizons 4g lte. Gsm carriers were able to debut hspa+ faster then verizon was able to debut LTE for the first time, giving them a leg up on the fastest network for a short time.

Is the 4G toggle different than lte? I am running an AOKP rom and since changing from stock I see h+ and 4g never lte anymore.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I had that problem, I think it's the cosmetic setting that got screwed. I flashed another ROM and then back to stock to get the LTE icon back on.
- format System
-flash Kyan's ROM (caused it was based off of Rogersbuild or i747M)
- confirmed that it was showing LTE, then I flashed the stock Rom.

Thats because AOKP And other rom are based on AT&T not Bell so you will see 4G vice LTE.
I work for Bell and I have done a good 15 updates since it was released for customers. Still says H+lte. I know wanamlite had the att 4G, looked way cooler but thats the only rom I have tried that has had the 4g so far. the Bell update doesnt say that.
It is all based off of csc
Rogers uses 4g and lte, Telus says h+ and 4g and bell has h+ and lte. All same thing just their idiotic way of differentiating.
Mixing firmwares can produce some interesting results.
Waiting for JKay mod on GT-I9300
telus shows 4g or lte. people always think that im on lte when it says 4g and am 'wowed' by its speed. then i tell them they're actually on 3g.
happened to me for some reason 3g and and 4g are what I get.

[Q] LTE speeds on Cyanogenmod 10

I have a Rogers Galaxy S3 and I installed the latest CyanogenMod 10 and I'm just wondering if it is possible to get LTE speeds on my device because everytime I switch the network settings under LTE I lose data connection besides that everything is perfect and I can get HSPA+ speed, wich is ok but not what I'm paying for and I would love to get those speeds back.

I'm with rogers too. We'll my phone is. Anyhoo in order to get lte speeds with cm10 or aokp for that matter you have to put in that code looks like *#*#3896#*#* I'm not sure about the number though look around you'll find it, and then select lte, gsm. That's after putting in the right apn settings of course. Btw it'll work but it won't stick you'll have to do it again every time you restart your phone. Personally I can't be bothered that's why I stick with stock until they figure that out.

No need for all that. In latest CM10 all you have to do is change preferred network type to LTE/GSM/WCDMA, choose Rogers LTE apn and u get LTE speed. It will show 4G but if you do a speedtest you'll see the difference. And it sticks on reboot. In AOKP though it doesn't stick.

I live in an LTE area, receive it with stock rom, but only showing H+ for speed. I have validated that the mobile networks is set to LTE /GSM/WCDMA - not sure what I may be missing. I love CM10, but really wish I could get this figured out. On AT&T.

[Q] LTE coverage on MIUI??

I have the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S3 android version 4.1.2 on MIUI.us 3.1.11. An image doesn't change much, I could swap it to change 2G (E) and it would still give me the same speed.. You can use speedtest app to see if you still get the same speed.
So I shouldn't be to concerned if the LTE icon is no longer being displayed? It was very helpful to have it, let's you know where the best coverage for LTE is at! Wonder why it's not being displayed anymore after rooting??

U cnt.. The only ones that can show u the real signal is a cm10 rom and it shows you 4G just because that's the way carriers want it to look so it can make you think that you're getting 4G whole you're not..

You can change the model number in the build.prop file to "Galaxy Nexus" save it and reboot.
It should show "3G" in 3G areas and H+ is "3.5G" areas.
I figured this by doing the google wallet fix.
This might break some functionality with preinstalled apps though.
You can always change your model number back to "SGH-M919" though and reboot.
What do you mean this phone gets Lte where are you at? 4g all day long even on wifi. Nevermind I see you are in morocco. So I understand now.

As others have said it's a carrier thing. If it says 4G, you're actually on HSPA+, and when you connect to LTE it shows 4G/LTE. So visually you can still differentiate between 'true' 4G LTE and 'marketing' 4G.
