[Q] Jedi XP14 vs Skynote 9? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

Ive been running Jedi ROM for a while now but I feel like Skynote is very similar. I dont want to start an argument but I would love to hear your opinions. Perferably id like to hear from someone who has used both.

I have had a few problems with skynote which is why I run Jedi..I find I get better battery life and screen time on Jedi with his own built kernel...
But there are others who love sky...it's all a matter of taste...give each one a run but be fair...I started on Jedi and the others seem to miss the mark...
Clean has never been a good rom (battery life) for me, even though most use his base to start

The Saber kernel is one of the reasons I don't want to leave Jedi. It is just amazing, I guess I could use it with Skynote but I feel like it works best with Jedi. Can you elaborate on some of the problems with skynote?

it does support it just remember if you go from 4.1.2 to 4.2.2 that on the new rom you need to format your SD Card fat 32 or it wont be seen also the file tree is a bit different on 4.1.2 you can see the ext sd card and on 4.2.2 it has a sdcard 0 and sdcard 1 but it is there i just noticed some cant find it because it is named ext sdcard but in 10 min of looking with a file editor you will figure it out just remember fat32 for 4.2.2. not windows exfat hope this helps

KT747! been having great battery life and performance. Also the ktweaker app is very useful
I use KT747 as well. Performance/battery life has been great, and I haven't even gotten into undervolting at all..yet
Stock Kernel + Stock ROM (LH1) + Cell Standby Fix = More than sufficient for me..
I run kt747 most of the time but my phone doesn't like it much. Tried faux and it was OK. I wish there were more choices. I had siyahs kernel on my gs2 and I loved that one. I see there's one for the i9300 but no att love

Ktoonsez's kernel awesome battery and no problems that i can tell
Stock

Faux's. It's the only kernel for this phone that I know of which has no issues and just works, stable, at super fast oc speeds.
I really want to try kt747 once some of the bugs are resolved.

I still can't find one that let's me move apps to the SD card. This is really driving me crazy. I tried "highonandroid" rom which switches the internal and external cards but had problems with some apps from the google play store telling me there was not enough room to download so I am back to stock.
Thanks

Why is moving apps to the sd card so vital to you? I'm not trolling, i'm curious. We have a ton of on board storage and big app installs go to sd anyhow.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
I am not speaking about the internal SD as to me this is just my part of my phone internal storage that is filling up fast. I am speaking about the external SD card (mine is 32 gig). On all my other android phones (Atrix and Galaxy Note) I could us a program called Apps to SD and move some of my apps to the external SD card. We can't do this with the S3 because of something Samsung did and I am looking for way to do this.
Also, could some please post a link to Ktoonsez's kernel. So many are using it I would like to try it out.
Thanks
Kt747 is in original development, there's like 6 threads yu can't miss it.

ktoonservative+underclock 96-1188+undervolt+noop=orgasm
Faux's jus got works and has no bugs or issues. It's better then stock and ocd up to 1.8.to fine tune you should get system tuner.
Kts kernel last time I read the thread seemed to have e a lot of bugs but seems to have great upsides also. I hope that most the issues get resolved soon as I really want to try to oc to 2ghz and play with gpu oc also
But If you need something that's as stable as stock just better.. Get Faux's

PA FTW
For me having tested only a couple for the last week, and being new to Android, Paranoid Android is the way to go. Been able to change DPI/ UI layout per app is priceless, all I need to complete it is figure out stuff about kernels and flash one that let you undervolt CPU/GPU to max battery life. As dingokevin said, you have to figure out yourself, give PA a try and see if you like it.

on the CM10 build that's available today, the feature like getting a small dot on the screen when hovering the pen over , is gone. I guess its because CM ROM has removed all bloatware (like S Note).
I have no idea if the special pen features will come back on a later build of CM10. i really hope so

Revolution is great.
Been a CM user for many years. No way am I running it on GN2.
Not needed for speed...and bloatware easily dealt with via Titanium...but mostly, the Samsung NOTE features are just too cool. CM in addition to being a mute point on this device, negates what makes the Note the Note.
Been using ottoman's ROM a couple of days. I like the glass theme and colors. Battery life is good and overall smooth

[Q] To those of you who've tried a variety of ROMs

Hi there. As the title suggests, this is a question to those members who've tried a bunch of different ROMs. Can you please suggest the most stable one out of the ones that you've had a chance to try out, one with the least amount of bugs. Please don't go around posting annoying comments like "why don't you try a bunch of ROMs yourself". If I had time to try different ROMs, I wouldn't be typing this right now. I really need a stable ROM, and any suggestion is appreciated. I am currently using Jedi Knight 4, and it keep messing up my data connectivity every 15-30 minutes. It would go on an off non-stop every 3 seconds, and it would only stop if I turned the Airplane mode on and then off. It's really annoying, and I really need something stable, since the next few weeks are going to be incredibly busy for me, and I will need to rely on my phone a lot. I don't care whether it's ICS or JB, as long as it's stable and functional enough. Good battery life would be a huge plus, though not absolutely necessary, anything within decent range would suffice. Thank you in advance.
Have you tried to flash another radio?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
I have not, but that's not my only problem with the ROM, just the most annoying one. I still need something different. Plus I don't really think that the radio had anything to do with it. It only started happening after I flashed the ROM, and that ROM wasn't too different from the rooted 4.0.4 update that I was using prior to that, and I never had problems with my connectivity with that one. Either way, maybe I'm wrong, but in that case, might you suggest a good radio?

It is hard to suggest what radio is the best. It depends on your phone and your location, but you can try Galaxy Note radio. For Rom, jedi mind trick X2 is the most stable.

I'll just add...no bugs that concern me at all. others may say this or that isn't perfect....like no wifi calling. bit I've used every jb rom lately....all are pretty good. liking paranoid android for its certain customization features...like dpi changing...even particular apps....plus finding its battery life just great!
I suggest to flash again the same radio that you have.
When I flashed All-dev AOKP version, my wireless got messed up in the same way as you are experiencing. Also sequential roms flashed after I noticed this issue did not fix the problem.
There is nothing to lose if you flash the same radio. Maybe only 1 minute of your time.
After I did this, I no longer experienced issues with my wifi connection.
I've tried many roms but i always go back to juggernaut its just stable and smooth its the daily driver for me. I wish team Kang will ever go back and edit that rom and add new themes and good update.<-------------- this is the answer untill they ever come up with a good stable release of jb roms they look cool and much more choices but a headache.

Recommend me a ROM

I'll probably get the "try them yourself and don't waste 2 seconds of our time asking questions like this" reply but I'll try anyway.
I like my battery life, data speed/signal, and responsiveness. I don't care for most features like pie or other little annoying addons like that. Just the most basic, lightest ROM there is.
I personally prefer the skynote 8.

You will get that because every phone is different. Battery life is great for all ROMs...just read the ROM threads. It all depends how YOU use your phone. Only you use your phone exactly where you are so only YOU can determine which is the best for the towers near you. If you want to ask for the most debloated ROM there is, you may get knowledgeable answers based on size of ROM and list of removed apps. But everything else is based on your use so please do not ask about those. You NEED to try them for those items. This is why these threads are closed.

I have to agree that I am loving CleanRom 4.7... with the aroma, you can choose things to leave out/put in as far as apps and what not.. it is very fast and smooth.. i tried Jedi at first, ,but (now this is for me, as i have a buddy that loves jedi) it didn't work as well for my phone. i was getting a wierd wakelock that not even google could tell me what it was.. and battery was draining a lot faster.. i swapped to cleanrom and (with same apps restored/installed) i did not have that wakelock and i went from a 5-6% per hr drain to 1% or less. .since jedi was preventing deep sleep..
i am new to the note2 so i am still learning all the roms and what all I can actually do with it.. im coming from the s3 where i did a lot with hat.. but as said, im loving CR 4.7 so far..
im still looking to see what each rom "offers" other than the normal debloat etc.. but with saber kernel on CR, im running like a champ and that was really the only thing that i saw Jedi had that CR didnt .. (other than jedis extra menu in settings)..
hope helps a little

Tweaked rom 2.0 freezing?

Everytime I use either install merhod, full wipe, no wipe it freezes on initial bootup everytime I choose the peanutbutta jelly kernel or trinity kernel. Is this due to the fact that they arent for the tmobile version? I know the pbj is for the verizon version and the trinity kernel I havent even seen since on any note 2 variation. Has anybody gotten the morphic/trinity kernel to work with tweaked 2.0?

As kintwofan and deeznutz1977 said - all kernels included are TMo kernels. I seem to have a lucky phone in that I have had no issues w/ either kernel, but how these things are handled vary from phone to phone. If nothing else, you can choose the stock kernel (which to be honest has always been fine in my experience), or skip the kernel install and use whatever kernel you are currently running.

This is just a guess, but the kernels likely have some cpu/voltage tweaks built in, and for whatever reason when combined with the natural variability in hardware quality you begin to see some differentiation in experiences, where some have it run fine and others don't.
