Ktoonsez's kernel. Getting decent battery life and it comes with a built in tweaking app, ktweaker.

Kt747, I think you'll find most people are running ktoonsez kernel.

+1 for KT747.

Another +1 for kt747

KT747! been having great battery life and performance. Also the ktweaker app is very useful

I use KT747 as well. Performance/battery life has been great, and I haven't even gotten into undervolting at all..yet

Stock Kernel + Stock ROM (LH1) + Cell Standby Fix = More than sufficient for me..

I run kt747 most of the time but my phone doesn't like it much. Tried faux and it was OK. I wish there were more choices. I had siyahs kernel on my gs2 and I loved that one. I see there's one for the i9300 but no att love

Ktoonsez's kernel awesome battery and no problems that i can tell

Stock

9-5b toonz
red s3 ocd 2.1

Faux's. It's the only kernel for this phone that I know of which has no issues and just works, stable, at super fast oc speeds.
I really want to try kt747 once some of the bugs are resolved.

I still can't find one that let's me move apps to the SD card. This is really driving me crazy. I tried "highonandroid" rom which switches the internal and external cards but had problems with some apps from the google play store telling me there was not enough room to download so I am back to stock.
Thanks

Why is moving apps to the sd card so vital to you? I'm not trolling, i'm curious. We have a ton of on board storage and big app installs go to sd anyhow.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2

I am not speaking about the internal SD as to me this is just my part of my phone internal storage that is filling up fast. I am speaking about the external SD card (mine is 32 gig). On all my other android phones (Atrix and Galaxy Note) I could us a program called Apps to SD and move some of my apps to the external SD card. We can't do this with the S3 because of something Samsung did and I am looking for way to do this.
Also, could some please post a link to Ktoonsez's kernel. So many are using it I would like to try it out.
Thanks

Kt747 is in original development, there's like 6 threads yu can't miss it.

I guess it's going to be repetitive to say this right now...but +1 for ktoonsez kernel
ktoonservative+underclock 96-1188+undervolt+noop=orgasm

Faux's jus got works and has no bugs or issues. It's better then stock and ocd up to 1.8.to fine tune you should get system tuner.
Kts kernel last time I read the thread seemed to have e a lot of bugs but seems to have great upsides also. I hope that most the issues get resolved soon as I really want to try to oc to 2ghz and play with gpu oc also
But If you need something that's as stable as stock just better.. Get Faux's

I just got mine and was wondering is it worth rooting becausr stock is already fast and stable
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
It's always worth rooting.
Right now, the performance increase isn't the biggest reason, because this phone can handle anything we through at it with ease.
The root_only features, however, definitely are.
Backups, tethering, painless restores, themes, ad hoc wifi, and all the other goodies that custom Roms provide really make a big difference.

You really should check out the juggernaut rom and also faux123 kernal. I can't express how much faster the sg2 runs and no stuttering or lag. The phone also has much better battery life it's really amazing. Also no spying carrier iq, no bloatware etc. you can free wifi tether. You can over clock or under clock. My phone has never worked so good.
Definitely recommend the following:
Load cwm recovery
Install latest juggernaut rom 4.1
Install latest faux123 kernal
Not required but also install latest modem kl1
If you do then install swype beta keyboard
I use go launcher highly recommended.

DOOOOOOOOOO it!!!! You'll love your phone twice as much. There are some awesome themes and roms. You can make it even smoother than it is. Go to dev section after and try gingersnap with either kernel. Smooth as butter

That's a tough question mate. There really is no best. Its a matter of figuring out what you want and what roms do that the best. I recommend trying them all. Personally I'm a cyanogenmod fanboi and I try to run it on pretty much everything I own.

main reason u should root and install a custom rom is BATTERY LIFE! lol u more than double your battery life, get all the bloat out of your phone, CIQ etc, plus you do get a performance increase, and its more stable than stock.. hands down best thing you could ever do to your phone.

So glad to see you here Faux Can't wait for your amazing dev!
Just flashed it on my ATT SIII running AOKP by Task650 & ktoonsez.
Seems to work fine.
Took a couple reboots before sleep was working but that is common IMO, with custom kernel flashing.
Got a few extra points on worthless AnTuTu scores.
MTE is working.
Thanks!
hey what did u do yo make it work okay.I flashed and rebooted a few imes but frequency doesnt go over 1.1Ghz even though i have it set to 1.8.Also i have ondemand/cfq but nothing i do helps bring the frequency higher.
I checked system tunner and its a 1.8 and also force all cpu online.Im pretty much out of ideas to try

So far I think staying stock is just as good as running a developed kernel for this particular ROM imho, especially when you want to get the most battery. I use SetCPu and will run min 486 and Max 1350/1404. SmartassV2 and Zen or cfq governors. I don't play many games on my phone, I have tablets for that and they are tweaked as high as I can go and be stable. It's all about what you use your phone for, most times when I benchmark it seems the higher frequency I push my score actually will get worse, might be I'm need to up my voltage, but I don't mess with voltages much. I will follow the developers guidelines for undervolting if I'm trying to squeeze that extra life, but I don't worry about it that much. Best way for me to extend my battery life is start turning things off when they're not needed. All the things I try with my devices I have learned by reading on the XDA forums, and by far the developers for our GS3's are the best and I'm very thankful for all they give up to give us these awesome roms, kernels, and not forgetting about the theme developers to make or phones run fast, operate smoothly, and look great. Without them might as well buy a fruit product, just kidding I would get a flip phone before I would do that. .... This was meant to be a quick reply, just got off a 14 hr work day and I'm just rambling a little, I hope my reply makes sense.

Hot phone

Hello all. I have recently flashed AOKP and I am loving it. My only problem is that the phone gets really hot. And not just on this ROM but on anything other than full stock. Why is this? Is there a fix? My friend told me that installing a custom kernel can help. Is there any truth to that? Thank you.
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
It depends on what you're doing. Of course using alot of apps or playing games will cause the cpu to run at full speed. Its going to get warm.
No just from texting or using the web simple things
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
Its a known issue on the GS3.
Don't worry about it too much.
The processor is made to handle heat, and it doesn't come close to failing from heat.
If it really bugs you, you can always try a custom kernel and undervolt and under clock to see how it runs.
My GS3 runs extremely hot playing games, (Real Racing 3 to be exact, and it ran so hot I honestly thought the motherboard would start melting lol) I flashed a custom kernel, undervolted and it runs much much cooler now.
But yeah don't worry about it too much
It was made for that

I would try flashing the KT kernel or any other custom kernel u may prefer and see how it runs with that kernel stock settings and then tweak yo or like from there. Keep in mind all phones are different so some ones else's set up or settings may not work the same for u

[Q] Jedi XP14 vs Skynote 9?

Ive been running Jedi ROM for a while now but I feel like Skynote is very similar. I dont want to start an argument but I would love to hear your opinions. Perferably id like to hear from someone who has used both.

I have had a few problems with skynote which is why I run Jedi..I find I get better battery life and screen time on Jedi with his own built kernel...
But there are others who love sky...it's all a matter of taste...give each one a run but be fair...I started on Jedi and the others seem to miss the mark...

it does support it just remember if you go from 4.1.2 to 4.2.2 that on the new rom you need to format your SD Card fat 32 or it wont be seen also the file tree is a bit different on 4.1.2 you can see the ext sd card and on 4.2.2 it has a sdcard 0 and sdcard 1 but it is there i just noticed some cant find it because it is named ext sdcard but in 10 min of looking with a file editor you will figure it out just remember fat32 for 4.2.2. not windows exfat hope this helps
