[Q] To those of you who've tried a variety of ROMs - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Hi there. As the title suggests, this is a question to those members who've tried a bunch of different ROMs. Can you please suggest the most stable one out of the ones that you've had a chance to try out, one with the least amount of bugs. Please don't go around posting annoying comments like "why don't you try a bunch of ROMs yourself". If I had time to try different ROMs, I wouldn't be typing this right now. I really need a stable ROM, and any suggestion is appreciated. I am currently using Jedi Knight 4, and it keep messing up my data connectivity every 15-30 minutes. It would go on an off non-stop every 3 seconds, and it would only stop if I turned the Airplane mode on and then off. It's really annoying, and I really need something stable, since the next few weeks are going to be incredibly busy for me, and I will need to rely on my phone a lot. I don't care whether it's ICS or JB, as long as it's stable and functional enough. Good battery life would be a huge plus, though not absolutely necessary, anything within decent range would suffice. Thank you in advance.

Have you tried to flash another radio?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app

I have not, but that's not my only problem with the ROM, just the most annoying one. I still need something different. Plus I don't really think that the radio had anything to do with it. It only started happening after I flashed the ROM, and that ROM wasn't too different from the rooted 4.0.4 update that I was using prior to that, and I never had problems with my connectivity with that one. Either way, maybe I'm wrong, but in that case, might you suggest a good radio?

Try the sith ICS ROM v3 or 4... very stable & fast

I figured Jelly Bean might not be worth using just yet

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Even though most of them are urging me to use a ROM that I already am using lol. Either way, keep 'em coming

It is hard to suggest what radio is the best. It depends on your phone and your location, but you can try Galaxy Note radio. For Rom, jedi mind trick X2 is the most stable.

I'll just add...no bugs that concern me at all. others may say this or that isn't perfect....like no wifi calling. bit I've used every jb rom lately....all are pretty good. liking paranoid android for its certain customization features...like dpi changing...even particular apps....plus finding its battery life just great!

I suggest to flash again the same radio that you have.
When I flashed All-dev AOKP version, my wireless got messed up in the same way as you are experiencing. Also sequential roms flashed after I noticed this issue did not fix the problem.
There is nothing to lose if you flash the same radio. Maybe only 1 minute of your time.
After I did this, I no longer experienced issues with my wifi connection.

I've tried many roms but i always go back to juggernaut its just stable and smooth its the daily driver for me. I wish team Kang will ever go back and edit that rom and add new themes and good update.<-------------- this is the answer untill they ever come up with a good stable release of jb roms they look cool and much more choices but a headache.

It did seem to be very well-developed, nice functions, and just looked overall promising. I'm definitely considering that one.

My vote is for zombie just for the fact you receive and send mms over wifi calling.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA App
As far as options on a theme, I found that Juggernaut seems to have the most rom options and controls. If you need to use wifi calling, android zombie seems to work pretty well with it from what Ive read over. Ive also tried beastmod and Ive gotten great battery life with it. Im fairly new to flashing roms so Ive only tried these three and havent had any issues with them.
What about Tuesday?
Hey... what about "Tuesday" rom? I ran the beta... been running Tuesday Early Afternoon for 4 days now. It's a real clean & stable rom... themed nice... and has working XLoud and Bravia! Only issue I had was fc on DSP Manager which was a quick fix. Everything works and I get 18-26hrs battery w moderate use (5-9hrs wi-fi, 1-2 hours phone use, 10-15 texts, 2-4hrs on XDA amd whatever other **** I do). I ran Juggernaut for a week or so. Nice rom as well... Tuesday just fits better.
Just my thoughts. Good luck!

Ive tried all the major ones, and for ICS based ROMS Jedi Mind Trick v7/v8 and TDJ's ROMS have been the best. That said, after a few days on ANY ICS ROM Ive tried I start getting anomalies that make it frustrating, so for now Im back on Darkside Digital Warfare 2.7. That seems to be my go-to ROM and I have never had one issue with it. I sacrifice a little snappiness, but for me its flawless and bulletproof.

Awesome, thanks for the reply! Just wondering, can you define 'heavy'? I personally use my phone at school all the time, I listen to music through headphones about 1/2 of my total day(4 hours or so) and I will also spend a lot of time texting, browsing the web, and using apps that use data. Its pretty much my goto when I need a good solid dependable ROM for GPS and coverage while traveling. The battery life is effin amazing and music come out really loud and clear. But I will say once our beloved devs get cm10/AOKP/PA etc running solid for jb I will prolly be going back to PA or try out KK again. I love the UK customization options. I ran ICS aokp as a daily until jb started seeping its way into my veins now I'm flashing like there's no tomorrow can't wait for volume bug fix ^^

No frills touchwiz based ROM?

I'm looking for a new ROM. I'm currently on cm10, but having a few issues. Considering going back to a TW based one.
Looking at the popular threads, I see a lot of PA/10 based ROMs. The all star ROMs just aren't my cup of tea. Not trying to start a flame war. But for me, the darkside ROMs were perfect.

I try to keep things fairly stock. I don't like to go over crazy with disabling things. Like putting it in airport mode most of the day or using JuiceDefender. I've even left Google Now running. It runs ok for a bit after a reboot. But for some reason, I start getting massive battery drain. Better Battery Stats says its location based related. And I can't turn on GPS. So I think the GPS radio gets out of wack for some reason and I get battery drain from 3-6%/hr or more and I never go into deep sleep. If all is going well, I can usually average 1.5-2% when idle.
So before I go back to cm9 (which seemed to be rock solid), I'm going to give a TW experience another try. I tried some of the Jedi themes ROMs. And Jedi Mind Trick seemed close to what I wanted. But I wanted to see if there were other suggestions.

[Q] Wiked JB v3

So I am thinking about switching over to this ROM, now that Frosty ROM is no longer being supported by the dev. I have been reading through the treads and I don't see any issues people are having with this ROM. That's a huge plus!
I wanted to ask before flashing, does this ROM have themes? Does it have the ability to run the Galaxy Note 2 gallery and Camera, if so where is the download link? Does tethering work? How is battery life?
Sorry for the 20 questions, but I have to use my phone for work. I have to have it work.

I've been using Wiked JB v3 for about a week now after having tried about 5 other ROMs over the past 3 months. As another poster noted, Wiked is TouchWiz based, which I've decided I like better than CM/ASOP. When you flash Wiked, Aroma gives you several options including multiple launchers, gallery options and a couple others I don't remember offhand. I've been tremendously pleased with Wiked - it's stable, I've noticed nothing that's broken, battery life has been good (not great, but good), and no noticable issues related to voice or data signal. The developer is planning an update soon and seems to be providing stellar support to users.
Good luck!

I went ahead and flashed it last night. ( I came from Frosty 11.1) and I really like what I have seen so far. Since this is my first battery cycle the android system is pretty high (20%) and gsiff_deamon is what is driving it. I know this was an issue on Frosty, but am wondering if it is for Wicked. On Frosty the gsiff_deamon would run all time after experiencing a HOT BOOT. The solution was to reboot the phone. Is this the same thing? I have gotten 11 hrs out of this battery as of now and I am at 14%. Screen time only 1hr 36 min... I know I have to go through 3 cycles to really tell if battery is good, so that's why I am taking it with a grain of salt. If it does keep up, I might have to find another ROM. I was getting 16-17 hrs with Frosty running stock kernel (2 hr screen time)

If battery continues to be an issue for you, one you might consider is Team Sonic's FreeGS3 R7.1.1 "Resurrection". It is also TouchWiz based but has been tweaked in a way that gave me really good battery performance. I had a few random issues with it and decided to switch, but it was overall a good ROM.

Are you referring about Wicked or Sonic's ROM that had random issues that made you switch?

Weird...I thought custom touchwiz rom should increase battery life. Even on stock rooted phone, I got around 4hrs screen time and still 13% left of battery.
