On my Note 2 I can share a video playing in the default video player to my xbox 360 but when playing a video obtained through Samsung's video hub there is no icon to share it to the xbox (the little monitor icon with arrows and a number).
Has anyone got a solution to this problem?
I have this problem too, did you find a solution?
It seems to let me play trailers but when I want to watch a full film there is no icon.
I've not found a solution. I think it's due to DRM though...

DRM? What was your solution? I am guessing I should be able to stream the full movies and not just the trailers. Really confusing how it works for the trailers and not the full movies.
DRM is digital rights management. You can't steam it because you've rented it and you do not own it. The only solution I found is to download from other (dodgy) sources lol

Just was wondering if you guys use a DLNA app like Allshare from Samsung. I would love to have this on my GNEX.
Try Skifta. It's better.
Haven't tried Skifta. I've been using iMediashare for a while now and it's pretty decent.
using imediashare...works great with the Boxee Box
I use BubbleUpnp.
It allows you to identify a device as a renderer, so you can control it remotely - for example, i have my media on my network drive, and use my phone to tell my GTV what to play.
I also have an old Android phone hooked up to the stereo in my garage, and do the same thing with that - control it with my Gnex...
+1 for iMediaShare.

+1 for Twonky Beam Browser and Twonky Mobile with the free PC Twonky Server, theses have proven the most reliable for me and my *complex* set up, I have some content on Home server, and have a Xbox360, a WD live and an Apple TV! I can send content from any location to any other location!
Skifta and Upnp. Upnp seems to be better for music, but both are great.

I tried bubble upnp and Skifta combined with default video player, MX videoplayer and Mobo Player but I can't see videos.
I used bubble + mx video player on LG Dual (CM7) and it works but with my Galaxy Nexus no... I see only a "waiting" message with MX videoplayer and MoboPlayer... why?
And if I transfer the original video to the phone memory I can see it even with the default player!!!
I have the original 4.0.4 rom rooted, nothing more!
Thanks!
Skifta was quite unstable for me. It caused the GNex to freeze up when re-entering the app. Had to battery pull to restart.

How can I solve my problem? It seems that every dlna application can't run with my galaxy nexus...
EDIT: Solved, that was a setting of my dlna server... damn!
I don't use Netflix which I know is good. What streaming media (apps or browser links) look good on the N7? A few that I like that seem to work well (and look good):
syfy.com/rewind
usanetwork.com/videos (must subscribe to cable or Sat service)
dish.epixhd.com (must subscribe to cable or Sat service)
dish remote access (app)
crackle (app)
tv.com (app)
None are perfect, but I would rate all a "4"; they look very good full screen. I tried TNT, it kind of sucks.

If you had comcast I would highly recommend the xfinity app, its perfect and they have refined the app for 7" screens

Crunchyroll works great. Shame they dumped the tablet interface in the redesign though...
What about streaming from a Home NAS? I use FreeNAS and have like, 8TB of movies, in storage, that I stream to my PS3 using PS3 Media Server, but want to do the same with my tablet....
I use bsplayer to stream video from nas which I think is very easy setup
Plex is a really good answer for streaming from a pc to the nexus if you have lots of movies,
it automatically gets all the tag info from the web, like cover art etc.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5wbGV4YXBwLmFuZHJvaWQiXQ..
I use MovieBrowser UPnP to browse my nas and dice to play the videos. Best solution for me so far, but I'm going to check out some of the other options mentioned in this thread.

I can't add to the OP's list, but for streaming movies on my home network, I use TVersity on a Windows PC because it's compatible with a gazillion devices, particularly my Xbox 360. I have MediaHouse on the Nexus and I watch the movies with MX Player. TVersity does take a little bit of configuring. MediaHouse discovers it within a second or so and its integration with MX Player is seamless.
XBMC?
I just looked at xbmc. Looks interesting. Does it find shows on a dvr? I see the screen examples of like 1000 movies and 8 seasons of 24... do people actually have that much stored on a pc, or does this find stuff on your dvr or on line? No way all that can be stored on an n7.

I have to put a plug in for MediaHouse combined with Mx. Seamless streaming from a new DLNA drive on my Netgear router.
I have 40GB of movies (that I purchased) and a few GB of music on it.
The moves are as ripped, .avi, and they look great. I like not having to convert.

I use ampdroid app with MediaPortal on PC. I can browse my various collections and stream 15GB bluray rips to the N7. I was surprised it worked with the large file size and type.

Another vote for Plex here, I love the way it catalogues and finds all the cover artwork for my library. The remote is a very nice touch too!
I just use ES File Explorer to browse my server's Samba share and have it open to MX Media Player. Most media is encoded to 720p mkv and using software decoding it plays back fine.

Found the best streaming media for n7, mediahouse-pro with MX player-pro video player. I wasted a couple bucks on other apps including plex and it was kind of frustrating at first. But I got it now and thought I would share.

Exactly what I do! ES File Explorer is extremely user friendly and it's just a matter of marking folders as shared and they pop up on my N7. Couple that with MX Player and it's a home run

could you guys show me how to set up es file explorer with my windows 7 to share movies.
i have been trying to set it up. i cant figure it out.
So I was playing with my phone and I saw a button that said switch screens while looking at a picture. I pushed it and the picture showed up on my tv. My Xbox just happened to be on. I had no idea that this was an option. It works with video too. Although with movies it says I need to log into Xbox live to view that content. Xbox won't let me log in right now. Can I push movies to any Xbox with my Note 2. What an awesome option that I had no idea was there.
This option is available if you have a smart tv or dlna capable media player. I watch video on my tv all the time with my Galaxy s3. Pictures and music are very easy to output. Video output is much more complex as it relies that the dlna device (your smart tv or media player) be able to decode the video natively.

Wow that is really cool. I didn't know that the Xbox 360 was dlna compatible. In fact I just bought the mhl setup so I could watch phone movies on that projector the Xbox is hooked up to. There are probably a lot of people out there that has this ability and don't know it.
You can also download the smartglass app and control the xbox with it

Guys
Is there any way to play(or remotely play) iTunes movies on Note 2 ? I purchased few movies from iTunes(which I wish I didn't).
I did a lot of search and found nothing. Default players won't play it because of the DRM and remote players can't play it either.
I also haven't had any luck removing DRM using any kind of converters.
Guess there is no way to do so :/
I should never buy any movie from iTunes again lol
Splashtop or androidvnc viewer won't work? It's not ideal but if you're on local network it works great.

Splashtop works but I was looking for an app like Flex/Zumocast which allows to view files controlling the whole PC
I dont understand, why I can play on my rooted (Jellybean) HTC Desire HD itunes movies and on my HP Touchpad and also on my Note II I cant play exactly
same videos ?
It is related to processor or graficunit ?

If you still need a solution, I use Requiem to remove DRM from any and all iTunes content whenever I help someone jump ship from iOS to Android. It worked great when I made the jump too!! It works on videos, music, and eBooks.

I was troubled with this problem. I suggest you can try M4V Converter Plus, it can remove itunes drm easily.
Hi everyone,
I'm new to this forum and this is my first post. After much research and consideration, I chose this tablet because the specs and features are best-suited to my needs. My main uses for this tablet are to stream content to my Chromecast/TV, games and browsing.
Now, to the issues I'm facing... I have set up a media server and have Plex installed on my tablet. The other day, I was watching a TV show episode and the video started skipping (for example when a Youtube video is buffering on a bad internet connection). I have used my phone to watch many episodes and movies before buying the tablet and there was no video skipping. Can someone suggest any solutions I can try to get rid of the issue?
Also, I have been getting the System UI error when I'm using YouTube on the tablet with Chromecast.
I'm currently running Kit Kat 4.4.2.
I look forward to your valued opinions/suggestions and thanks in advance.
Thanks.
I've noticed issues with plex but on custom roms. Solution is to use external player for movies, when using plex mxplayer works great.

I don't understand how I can use mxplayer with plex. I basically want to stream stuff from my computer's media server with plex app on my tablet to chromecast. Please assist.
Chromecast appears to be buggy with g pad.
Real player cloud does what you're trying to do, it's not a solution but possibly a temp fix.

I'll give that a go. However, since I have changed the 'video quality over network' settings to maximum, I haven't experienced the lag.

I use bubble upnp to watch my plex stuff on my Sony smart tv. You choose the library and the target and can browser on tablet and send to tv. Not sure about chrome cast though. Yeh mxplayer is only for playback on the tablet.
