[Q] 4G and the note2 - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi I have some what of a confusing question.
I have a Note 2, LTE (4g) version. I am on a carrier called Telia, and my tel. is locked to Telia as well. I have read and have managed to unlock my note2 with success, so now it will work with all sim cards So now what I want to know or understand is the follow
As my tel. is now sim unlocked, The current carrier i use it Telia, but I want to try another carrier called "Telenor" as Telia has a different 4g then Telenor, I am told.. I will not be able to just put in my telenor 4g sim card and get 4g -LTE from it.. as it was originally mean only as a Telia tel..
So i was thinking could i maybe flash the Telenor rom with LTE suport and then i would get there 4g-LTE signal to work??
would this work.. or would it be a hardward issue.. that the tel. would not have the same freq. rate as the other one I want to use?
can anyone advise please.. thanks..

Can I use HTC Harrier in worldwide CDMA network?

Hi,
I bought on the Ebay.com a HTC Harrier - Verizon XV6600, also known as Audiovox PPC6600 - now I want to use it somewhere else than USA - in which networks can I use the phone and how do I activate it?
The phone is 800/1900 Mhz CDMA device with out sim card slot!
Can I use it in a 3G network outside USA?
Thanks!
You can probably using it to any network that have CDMA service, to activate you have to call CDMA network provider, no I don't think you can use it as 3G, this is not a 3G device.
Actually the 6600 is a 3G device. If properly provisioned you can get EVDO. I have heard stories of users configuring it for use in other countries. If theres CDMA, it can be done. The verizon versions MSL unlock code is 000000, FYI
So I can use the Harrier in any CDMA 800/1900mhz network?
Doesn't it require a special software to be installed on the Harrier for each CDMA provider?
For instance - in my country there is one CDMA provider - it operates on 450mhz frequency and uses RUIM cards and the provider had no idea how to make this device work in their network!
Trough in my country there are also 2 GSM providers and the ofer EDGE and 3G services which operate in CDMA network - can I use those providers?
I'm really confused, because I don't know what to do with this device!!!
you can easily install a sim adaptor, (RUIM) it cost me a few bucks and it works. but you still need to unlock the radio.

[Q] do I need to flash my radio to use TP2 abroad?

Hi there,
I'm totally confused as to what I need to do to get my Touch Pro 2 (currently activated on Boost CDMA) to work abroad, specifically Canada.
It is flashed with Energy ROM, Reference version.
Do I need to do a Radio flash? Do I need to tweak some settings? Both? Neither?
I'm going to be in Canada for 3 weeks and plan to use either Rogers or Fido's GSM Pay as You Go (already have the SIM cards), or Telus's CDMA Pay as You Go.
I've read the FAQs and generally understand that this is possible -- just not clear the route.
Thanks,
Simmy
The biggest problem with Canada is our carriers don't want people coming in and using their networks without paying for it, and that usually means your first born here.
The hardware problem is, the TP2 will not work on the frequencies in Canada that Telus has used for the HSPA / 4G network. And using the current CDMA network is not possible either because Telus and Bell will not allow you to put branded phones from other companies on the old network and CDMA systems don't use SIM cards. So if your planning on bringing the TP2 up here I think you may be out of luck.
I took the TP2 to Ireland and was able to use the frequencies there on the O2 network, but to do that I had to unlock the phone and as i have the "world edition" with the SIM card slot once unlocked it worked over there no issue, and returned working over here with no SIM card in it. But again this is a frequency issue and telus tells us it won't work.
Now if when you get here, and you plug a sim card in and it does work, please share, because it means we can manually add frequencies and hook to both the old and new network. And some of us with the original unlimited data contracts (no 10 gig cap) would be really happy to know this.
As for Rogers, i can't tell you. I don't know if they have ever had the TP2 and have no clue what frequency they are using for their phones, though i'm sure it's similar.
Flashing the radio does nothing to add radios or affect your ability to connect to the network while abroad. Its usually just done to improve reception and/or battery life.
You will need your phone SIM unlocked. Then, as the post above suggests, either putting in the SIM works, or it doesn't.
Thanks to both of you for your reply.
So the TP2 won't work on any Canadian CDMA networks, but since it also has GSM, if I stick a Rogers or Fido SIM card in it, it *may* work. In fact, I believe it *should* work. I'll let you guys know how it goes.
And thanks for answering my question re: radio ROMs, Redpoint -- that's what I thought, but was still confused about.
So, with respect to unlocking, is the Olipro page that charges 11 pounds / 14 euros / $20 my best/cheapest option? (unfortunately, i can't link to it here because I'm a new member)
Thank muchly,
Simmy
The device should have no trouble connecting to a normal GSM network in Canada. The Canadian GSM networks use the GSM-1900 and GSM-850 bands. The CDMA Rhodiums use a quad band frequency that spans all of 850/900/1800/1900 MHz channels. You should have no problems in Canada. Enjoy your trip.
You do not need to flash a new radio to have it work in Canada.

[Q] no signal oversea

Hi
I bought this phone on a plan with Optus in Australia and now I'm in Thailand. I put in a new sim but I cant get any signal. the phone is unlocked as it said when I check the IMEI code in the Optus website. I'm not sure if its correct.
Anyway I suspect the problem is due to different frequency band in thailand but I am not sure. Is there anyway to know it for sure? or to try to change the frequency of the phone to try if it will work?
cheers

Tried going Settings -> Mobile network -> Network Operators and checking the settings there?
I spoke to Optus and just got the phone unlocked over the internet but I was not using the Optus sim nor receiving signal from Optus at the time they did the unlocking. would it work?
the problem still exists.

Here in Panama we have 2 providers that have LTE and uses band 28 this is why i bought my zenfone from taiwan with band 28 reception... this is the problem i put my sim card from one of the provider and guess what didnt got LTE and they told me is becuase is my phone that is not allow in their network (they are selling phone which is LTE ready according to them) But i friend of my put his simcard of his samsung S6 from the second company (uses the same 28 band) and my phone got LTE rightaway... So is somthing the provider can do to stop phones coming from outside getting LTE? Right now my phone is getting HSPA+ that is H+ but nothing else
And in the screenshot my phone is detecting the network which is the first LTE that you see. The second LTE with Forbidden is from the other company from which my friend have his simcard..
