I've managed to change alll of the UI sounds by replacing them with my own .ogg files in /system/media/audio/ui however the keytap sound you hear when you press a keyboard key is still the original tap. I went as far as removing all of the .ogg files in the directory and only left the few custom sounds I made. They are for the UI touch (everything but the keyboard), screen lock and unlock, and a couple others.
As I'm using the samsung keyboard, I can only assume that the sounds for the samsung keyboard ui are located elsewhere, however I cannot for the life of me, locate them. Can anyone help with this at all? Can't find anything on the forums others than people suggesting doing what I've already done or using another keyboard. I don't want to use another keyboard. I have a modded themed keyboard that only works with samsung keyboard......... please help!
they are built into the keyboards apk.
Unzip the apk and you'll find them in the resources folder.

I tried that however when I put the apk back on the phone and verified the new sounds are in the apk, the samsung keyboard crashes when I try to use it.
I can't remember exactly what to do right now, but I'm pretty sure you have to reinsert the signatures a certain way for a system apk to work.
Been a while and I'm not at my computer right now so can't look it up yet. Google and you'll find it though.

Kindle Fire doesn't have a keyboard setting to enable 3rd-party keyboard.
But with root permission, I assume this wouldn't be impossible. Does anyone know some tricks to enable 3rd-party keyboard, e.g., using some codes?
Not a hundred percent sure, but I believe if you put the app in system/app you wouldn't have to. And in the case of Swype, make sure to copy the lib from data/data to system/lib

what happens if you do a "regular install" on something like GoKeyboard or Gingerbread Keyboard?

This Guide (on the forums here) contains a guide to installing and using SwiftKey X. The general method, I think, should work with any 3rd party keyboard, but you need to change the exact value to add.

my good man, if this is real deal, youve convinced me to move to this phone, as this was the only feature holding me back!

you'll need to be rooted, and use an app like Root Explorer, or any app that has a file manager that can access system level. go to System>App> and find two files, one is SamsungCamera.API and SamsungCamera.odex either change the name of both of these files (eg: SamsungCameraOLD.API and. odex) or delete them, either way SamsungCamera.API and SamsungCamera.odex should not exist anymore. now that you've done that, use that root file manger to place his hacked SamsungCamera.apk and place it in the same folder (System>App>). then restart your phone.
note* you may need to mount your R/W card, you can simply do that by the giant button at the top of Root Explorer.

Thank you! I figured it would need to be dropped in somewhere just didn't know the right location for it. :good:
EDIT: now that I got in there and looked the only file I have is SamsungCamera.apk. Now showing any .API or .odex files?

If you're on a deodexed rom, then you won't have those files. Just reboot after dropping the apk in there, make sure your permissions are correct, and you'll be good to go.
What are the correct permissions? I tried flashing the zip through CWM but no go. I'm on a deodexed Rom also tried dropping the Samungcamera.apk file into system/app...
Thanks
I hear there was a camera mod that made shooting videos a much higher quality but it only worked for the international version of the GSlll. Perhaps doing it for this would be possible at a later date?

I am actually working on the higher bit-rates also. I have a few versions right now, in testing, the only issue I am running into right now is that when you use the power button for the shutter, it also triggers the power menu. It still takes the picture and all, but its an annoyance.
Has the video recorder always had that click-click sound whenever the ringer volume is on?? That's really annoying. I thought shutter sound in the camera controlled both.

CWM and TWRP installs are interchangeable in most, if not all cases. Definitely when you're talking about a simple script like this one.

I saw that the codename android ROM (i know the its a different ROM build but maybe he has some ideas) has a the power button as the shutter already. Maybe you can ask the OP if he could advise you on the issue you are having.

There's not many things to complain about and this is a very trivial thing to nit pick, but I hate a feature. I get a lot of mms from my girlfriend as she likes to take pictures, and whenever she sends me an mms with text included, my phone treats it like it's a slide show or a video. It even has a play and pause button on it and there's an indicator showing how much time is left, just like the video player. I can't zoom on the image or move it around at all and I have to save it to be able to zoom or move it. However, when she sends one without text, it's completely normal, meaning I can zoom and what not. Is there a way to fix this or bypass it?

I'm not sure how to edit posts on this app so, sorry for double posting but can some one tell me how to get the cm10 notifications on my stock note 2?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda app-developers app
I honestly don't know the specifics on MMS. But just because some os or apps flatten the text and image to a single screen doesn't necessarily make it the proper way. With the slide show view, I see it as multiple media bits sent in one envelope, so it shows me each bit.
I do recall having annoyances with trying to save, but using Handcent, for instance, that's never been an issue for me.

Yep, stock everything. Which is why I'm trying to get the CM10 notification sounds. I asked the notification sound question a while back and someone said it was as simple and someone taking the sounds out of the package or something. I'm really only concerned about the sounds right now as I really miss them. Lol

Do you mean replacing all system sounds, or just the configurable ones without root? If you mean the latter, it should be easy enough to dl them from the cm git, or dl an image and extract from there. Once you have them, just copy to your sdcard and go crazy.

Just changing the sms tone and ring tone. Could I do all of this from my phone? Could you possibly tell me how sorry I'm a noob. I've downloaded CM10 to my phone and using androzip to search but I can't seem to find where the sounds are located.

In CM10, the sounds are in the OGG format, so they will have that file extension (they work fine in the stock Samsung Note 2 firmware). If you have downloaded the CM10 zip file to your phone and are able to browse through it, just sort by "File extension" and look through the names to find the sounds you want. I am not familiar with androzip, but if you prefer, you can sort the zip contents by "Path" to find CM10 ringtones in \system\media\audio\ringtones and CM10 notification sounds in \system\media\audio\notifications.
Extract the ringtones and notifications you want onto your Note 2 in the "\Ringtones" and "\Notifications" directories (these are in the stock firmware at the root of your phone, no need to create them yourself). More specifically, on my stock, non-rooted phone, the directories are "/storage/sdcard0/Ringtones" and "/storage/sdcard0/Notifications". Once there, they should be available immediately from where you normally set your phone's default sounds (don't quote me on this part ... it may require a reboot once the sounds are in the proper folders, but I don't think I had to).
Has anyone else realized that the stock keyboard that comes with the s4 doesn't autocorrect your words unless you use Swype. It sucks because this is the first keyboard which I actually like -_-
yeah samsung killed it there I loveeee the keyboard but the autocorrect is just not there which is beyond sad to me.

Actually the absence of auto correct is not Samsung's fault. It's the result of Apple law suit last year and in the end consumers, you and I, are at loss. One of the several reasons I will never stand for this evil company (Apple).

Yeah its a shame. I love the Samsung keyboard, especially having the row of numbers up top, but I can't do without auto correct, so I'm just using Jelly Bean keyboard from the Play Store.
But if there is an international version with auto correct I'd love to get my hands on it.

My Canadian version has auto correct. Here's the apk and the odex file. It's not a flash able zip. Just both files zipped . You will have to manually out it into system/app and give it proper permissions. Make sure you make a back up first ! Hopefully it works. Let me know.

That file is different from what's on Tom S4 and it doesn't install. You supposed to be able just move the file and fix permisions but kb not getting installed. Perhaps some dev can fix this.

The odex file seems to be corrupt and the samsung apk is missing the clases.dex file, the classes.dex file has the smali that needs edited to enable autocorrect, Can you give us the source of where you got this file?
Does anyone know what edits to make to change the default to microphone on the Samsung stock keyboard? I read somewhere that on Sprint and Verizon the mic is the default rather than pen-to-text as it is for Cleanrom Ace which I am using. I DL'd a Sprint version of the SamsungIME.apk but couldn't sort out how it differed (so I could edit the one in my rom), and flashing the Sprint one left me with constant errors and no keyboard. BTW, anyone know why they are not interchangable? Or are there some other files involved?
