NFC = Near Field Communication. It can be used to make payments, transfer files, read/write smart tags (like RFID, only you need to be a lot closer).
The NFC batteries have the NFC antenna built into them.
O.k. so you can't transfer data from one device to another device? Thanks

That's literally what your thread's title says.
Look up android beam and s-beam on YouTube.

Are you and @rp56 related? Both of you ask stupid questions that could easily be answer by doing a GOOGLE SEARCH. And you post them multiple times as well. Is that you rp56?

Just got my Galaxy S 3 and a pack of NFC tags to mess with. What apps should I snag to read, write, or otherwise screw around with and learn about NFC with?

Hello guys hope any body around here can give any idea how to solve this problem.
I have a root stock samsung galaxy s3 with tmobile with 2 year contract also unlimited data, but i dont want to pay for the wifi tether. my problem is when my daughter wants to connect her 4generation ipod with my phone she cant. i try every app on play store but nothing. What can i do. Also if i found one app that work and she see the wifi when she try to connect it said unable to join network.
Get wifi teather on the app market and go to setting and change the device profile to galaxy nexus gsm and should work fine write back of u got problems
P.s the thanks button dont hurt if u click it

I let you know if work. thanks for the quick reply.
If that device profile doesn't work you can switch around with the generic ics wlan0 and 1, Samsung s3.. switch around until you can see it

Wifi tether in playstore work for me with my Samsung Tab or maybe Samsung S3 and Apple ipod they don't connect each other! lol. jk
Wifi tether creates an "ad hoc" connection. I doubt apple even knows what that is, let alone supports it. You're better off looking for a hack for the movie hot spot app. Gl

You can always change which connection to make... if you're talking about wifi tether for root users

Yeah I saw the vid earler and the camera does look great but I cannot stop feeling gutted about the hardware. No removable battery no microSdCard. These are the two main things that I look for in a phone. Are we heading down the road of iSheep where we are told to like what we are given?
Yeah, Yeah, I know the general line of the Nexus has certain design traits but would it really of been that difficult to add the above 2 things and swallow up all the S3 users? I know for one I would have got one if...if only! lol!
I know exactly what you are saying, I think its stupid not having SD card slot and no removable battery. What do you do if you run out of space or need a spare battery because you are travelling for work and don't have any way of charging your phone. Its riduculous . But the camera is looking good and keyboard
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Fingers crossed we can get the camera and keyboard ported over!
I would really like to know who does the market research for these phones. I left HTC becuase they ditched removable batteries and cards. I also know 6 other people that did the same. Take a look at Samsungs market now comapred to HTC and you only need a couple of brain cells to figure it out! I just hope that Samsung do not follow suit!
Hopefully Samsung won't... I really don't see the benefits the companies are getting from that apart from needing to send the phone off to them for repair money

Why is this bull crap being posted here?? Why not another LG thread seen as though the nexus 4 was made by LG instead of Samsung...

If you read my post it clearly says about a Dev porting the keyboard and camera from that device ... this isn't clear enough for you then you need to learn to read

Perhaps my reply took it a little off track but it was comapring it to the S3! and I would certainly not call it bull crap!
At the end of the day "You don't have to read it!"
If a dev could please do this it would be awesome
ps ; i was planning to buy a Nexus 4 but the "no external storage" is not good for me

Agreed, not too sure why they do it, I did read something about them saying it was a Budget thing, if you want a cheap phone, restrict the accesibility of the device (e.g. no removable batter and no SD slot)
I prefer to pay more for an external storage

Hello everyone, I just ordered a tmo GN2 and will be getting it by next week. Since I live in Canada, I'll need to unlock it.
Does anyone know any ways other than having to pay $30 for an unlock code?

How many different threads about this are you planning on posting? LOL
If you look over in the general section for this forum, there is a discussion about doing it for free that already exists, some are reporting good results with that, others not so good. Give a little search over there and you should find it without issues.

Sorry for a probably answered question. Is the wireless tether going through my minutes or data...is it the same for non rooted phones as well
Sent from my Incredible 2 using xda app-developers app
Data and yes. It uses the data to used for a WiFi essentially. Of that mashes any sense. Although this is one of those Google questions. Although, I do applaud you for posting in the right section.

Not trying to act tough, but that is something that should be said. If you searched Google and found no answer you should state it to avoid people saying anything like that. Glad I could help.
