About to trade for a galaxy nexus.

I would like some people to verify that bigfdaddy is reliable. I'm scared to send my phone out before he sends his haha this is my work phone hence my reservation to do so. And this is my first time trading phones online

You should probably ask this question in the Marketplace >>General, especially if he's done any other trades, purchases etc via XDA.
You can also see if he has info on other forums like androidcentral, android forums etc.
And also check his feedback on XDA and contact other people that have dealt with with him to see if everything went smooth.
If he has no feedback or you're still a bit skeptical, ask him if you both cross ship..

Dude, this is a great line....
To OP, if you looked at the sellers history he actually had 3 reviews and a 100% rating. Actually just looked him up.....It is also good to read through threads and posts they make. You can sometimes get an idea of what type of person they are.

You could also go through paypal if out makes you feel comfortable. Send an invoice of what your selling and 300 (arbitrary number) he sends you the cash and you post tracking number and he does the three same after he receives your phone. Extra step but if out makes you feel better

It might not be the best idea to get a GNex now because they're pretty outdated.

How is it outdated? As far as I'm concerned the s3 is outdated because it's not running jelily bean. The hardware is not that big of a difference other than the ram.

Today was also my first day with the GNex. It arrived from the Play Store and I am so ready to swap out my Evo 3D and Sprint's disappointing data speeds. I am waiting for my T-Mobile sim card to arrive (ordered it on Sunday). My contract ends at the end of the month. I was able to get it rooted this afternoon and I must say that was the easiest rootkit I've ever seen. Absolutely amazing the work you guys have done. I look forward to flashing ROMs on this thing and making it even more awesome.

Wireless Tethering

Sorry for a probably answered question. Is the wireless tether going through my minutes or data...is it the same for non rooted phones as well

Data and yes. It uses the data to used for a WiFi essentially. Of that mashes any sense. Although this is one of those Google questions. Although, I do applaud you for posting in the right section.

Not trying to act tough, but that is something that should be said. If you searched Google and found no answer you should state it to avoid people saying anything like that. Glad I could help.

Rooting from a Mac

If I read correct there are 2 root files and a reference to Mac users. Is this true and if so has anyone had success rooting from a Mac. I have the at&t e980

IKR!! bet if I posted in the wrong place 20 people would have jumped all over it within 5 minutes lol. Its whatever I think I'm going sale it off and get a one or s4, the lack of support doesn't bother me but the absolute lack of interest in what is possibly the best phone out now is just crazy. This thing died faster than the bionic.

Hey guys sorry for little off topic but I have an xperia zl with bell I'd like to sim unlock and never had to do so before online..
Any good fast cheap and reliable sites to do so?? Im looking to unlock my device by tomorrow if possible thanks.

Check the last few pages of the unlock thread in general section. Couple of people mentioned a cheap place that unlocked their T999L.

Good luck with it. Alternatively, if you're taking a trip out of the country, T-Mobile may give you the unlock code. They're not always quick about it though.

The op is trying to unlock a different device. And I have to be honest, the free unlock we have is much easier to do. Plus its free!
This could help those with the T999L/T999N, but you left out very important information. Such as the website you have to go to, how much does it cost, who does it?

I get what your saying but I was trying to help as best as I could. I just went to google and used the I am feeling lucky button and that is what popped up.
I don't even know how to unlock phone's myself.

Yeah my s3 was unlocked using that method but the xperia zl is a pain in the @$$ but thanks again guys

Just a quick piece of advice....when doing anything to these type devices, never use that feeling lucky junk from Google. If you're really lucky you won't add yourself to long list of bricks that were caused by doing this.
