I have been able to tether over HSPA+ (IPv4) since forever no problem. But recently, LTE service has been expanding to where I am.
In order to connect to an LTE tower, I must use IPv6 APN fast.t-mobile.com
But tethering doesn't work on IPv6 connections.
Has anyone been able to figure out a way around this dilemma?
I use IPV4 on LTE, I don't understand why you "have to" use IPV6?

Could you tell me which APN you are using? I could not sign on to LTE using EPC V4 or V6 or V4/V6, nor fast on V4.
Could you share a screen shot of your APN settings?

I'm having the same issue. I had no idea / am not sure that it is related to the IP version one uses. There is however an interesting document in the nexus lte forums with exactly the same problem and more importantly, a solution. The discussion is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2044870 with the solution posted on page 2 (my guess is we'd have to adapt it for t-mobile specific apn settings) the script code is here for quicker / shorter reference http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34662473&postcount=11.
Update! since posting this, I tried under the apn settings for fast.tmobile.com changing the ip version from IPv4 to IPv4/IPv6. now it's letting me tether no problem I'm on the latest jedi master rom btw.

I recently set up my APN to use IPV6 instead of IPV4. However, my download speeds are around 8 mb rather than 18 mb on IPV4 mobile network.
Is there a reason for this? Can anyone else confirm that this is happening to them?
I got similar results. I just switched back.

How were you testing? Was it via an IPv4 or IPv6 host?

That's the thing, I'm not sure how to do a test on an IPV6 host. I am assuming the Comcast server here in Boulder has IPV6 because my Internet does. When tested on he tmobile server in Denver I got consistent but lower speeds.
I've noticed the IPv6 APN maybe some 10–20% slower, but not 60%!
Consider making a detailed post on how you tested, and add a post to T-Mobile's IPv6 mailing list so some of us can try to reproduce?

I have applied to the group. Whenever I get accepted I will post a detailed response.
Thanks.
I switched to IPv6, and my speeds are better than with the standard T-mo data settings.
Hello i am enduring the hurricane and I lost power, peco statement says it could be out for days. I really need to disable lte so I can get data without killing my battery. I already burned a good amount of my battery searching on how to do this but couldn't find anything yet
I'm on aosp so dialing *#2263*# does nothing.
When I try selecting my old HSDPA APN (att) it won't connect to anything. And I when I switch my network mode in data settings it just won't let me select wcdma.
Seriously I need a miracle. I don't have much juice left.. if I don't make it.... send help
Jk I'm not flooded or anything lol i just need internet.
Dial *#*#4636#*#* and choose wcdma preferred.
This doesn't work for me. It just pops right back to lte. I'm on tasks aokp.

Settings>Wireless 7 Networks (More...)>MobileNetworks>Network Type> Choose the one without HSPA one without LTE. Should say something like GSM/HSPA. If this doesn't work then you will need to try something else...
Under those settings I have lte/gsm/wcdma and gsm/wcdma.
I can't switch off the lte one. It just goes back. There is another setting "use 2g networks only" and this also does not work. I am using tasks latest aokp ROM and toonz latest kernel. Maybe i should try another radio?
Using uclh9 radio.

Bump. Does anybody know how I can disable LTE? Tried both methods in this post and i can't disable it.
To do this you also have to set the phone and mms APN. I rememebr a few times on my Note getting it to switch and stay after switching APNs to phone then choosing wCDMA otherwise it just goes back to LTE. PTA will lock you to LTE. Also it may lock to LTE in the radio load.

Where can I set the MMS APN?
Changing my APN to wap.cingular won't connect to anything. I'm not 100% sure but I could of sworn I used to be able to just select the wap.cingular and it would connect to hspa. Not sure what happened mabey at&t cracking down

To change the APN you go to settings > under network click "more" > click Mobile Networks > Access Point Names
But you need to know the APN Settings. Idk what they are for no LTE.
And I have same issue, select wap.cingular and I get no data

Wap Cingular is the no lte apn, but like you've found out its not working anymore for some people. Works for me, but my hsdpa is one quarter its normal speed.

Hey guys, if you would like the correct HSPA+ APN to switch to on AT&T, please see my signature and use the APN in the OP of my thread.
Can't post in the development forum yet so I'm asking here.
Just curious if anyone has reported any issues with connecting to the new T-Mobile LTE network with this ROM (Wicked v2 for T-Mobile S4)? If I set my phone to only connect to the 4G network, it has no problem connecting. However, whenever it tries to switch to the LTE network, it won't connect again unless I force the phone to connect to a 4G or slower network. The LTE network connection worked fine on stock.

That isn't a feature I've used yet, so I wouldn't be able to provide accurate feedback. Mine doesn't do it now but I'm not sure if it did it before either. Possibly some bloat that was removed?

Yea, that fixes the problem. Thanks for the info. Also, make sure you reboot after adding the APN or it won't connect to the LTE network.
Especially with this community pay attention to apn type in new settings I appear to have been able to thwart the tethering block with v2, appears they did away hiddennapn or Nick was able to kill it in the build.....will continue to test before I say for sure but im getting native tethering and 25+mbps up and down speeds on the m919 (tmo s4)

I have the ATT SGH-I747 with Baseband I747UCDLK3. The phone was rooted, CWM 6.0.3.1 Touch was installed, and has been running CM 10.1.x nightlies for a while and now is finally running the latest stable release.
When LTE was enabled by TMobile in Atlanta recently, I went from having a solid/working 3G/H+ data connection to no data at all. It is as if the phone would persistently try to connect to the LTE network and fail. It would also try to drop back down to 3G/H+ but have no working data connection ever since the day TMobile turned on LTE in Atlanta.
As a workaround, I set the phone to use Preffered network mode as: GSM/WCDMA and the Data has been working fine on 3G/H+ but of course not using LTE.
Is there any way to get LTE working in this configuration? Could this be a problem with the Baseband or is it CM 10.1.x?
TIA for any information you may provide to help me fix this problem.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but T-Mobile uses different LTE frequency than AT&T.
Finally got it working, 4G!!!!!!

I have finally gotten it to work. The problem was that the APN information necessary for LTE was missing.
I created a new APN manually with the information from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2236735
Name : T-Mobile LTE
APN: fast.t-mobile.com
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
APN Type: default,supl,admin,dun,mms
Now the phone is working properly at 4G speeds, speed tests show over 25Mbps down and 10 Mbps up.
Thanks for the info!

Hey, I have tmobile as my carrier and an unlocked at&t S3 i747. What baseband/modem are you using? I can't get a strong signal at all.
weird issues
So I have an issue. I have a i747 and have T-Mobile. My internet works fine. Sometimes. If I want to brows the web I have to first make a call And then my internet just starts to work. Usually... Can some one help me out.
Has anyone changed their default apn settings and gotten better results, if so, could you kindly post them.
I know this has been beaten to death, but I'm getting awful upload speeds and I have to think someone out there found a good apn tweak for the tmous (preferably in nyc!) settings.
FYI, even on my note 2, i never got great LTE speeds, and always unchecked the LTE setting because i got better speeds on just 4g. The exact same is happening with my note 3, which is pretty frustrating. Tmo said im not being throttled, andf i have unlimited everything so i cant figure otu what the issue is.
any input would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
Jason

Just create a new APN from the main menu and replicate all of the settings except for the APN protocol field. Then just simply select the new APN the menu.
I'm trying APN protocol: IPv4 now. I doubt it'll make much of a difference where I live, but it's worth a shot.

Sure. Had to be multiple screenshots due to the scrolling though.
It's exactly the same as the factory APN, minus the name and APN protocol fields.
No noticeable change yet though. I have terrible signal in my office to begin with. Will have a better idea if it helps later on.
So I changed mine to IPv4 i use to get around 0.86 mb/s changing it to IPv4 i get 2.00mb/s on LTE... on 4G i get around 15... i had a s4 and a 5s that went faster on LTE...
I use the old apn, the epc.tmobile.com and get better speeds on it.
