Hey guys, I saw on the Sony website that the Xperia features USB hosting. I have an external HDD that is externally powered and I would like to hook it up to the Xperia with a view to transfer files etc.
Do all I need to get is a USB OTG cable for the Xperia ? Thanks
I only did it on my sony tablet s and only needed otg cable and extra power supply for the hardrive in fat32 format but I believe it is honeycomb feature, not gingerbread or plays. I maybe wrong

It is a feature not in the Xperia Play atm. DoomLord made it work on other 2011 Xperias but the Play was a different story, he has tried to work around it a few times but still a no-go for now.

That is a shame, has anyone managed to do this yet at all ?
Thanks.
I read somewhere that this feature is coming to all ics phones in the 4.0.3 version

This question is mostly for developers;
Would be cool to wear the buttons mapping system that has the Archos Gamepad, and do our Xplay also compatible with all buttons (including touchad, and volume keys (to use L2 & R2),
Here's the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rgsJ7gUK1cA
But it is just an idea, hence a possible, is in you to confirm it.
Hopefully if you can.
regards
There is already an app for that for the xperia play. Its called gamekeyboard which does have a few bugs in it.

If I know, know her, but has several bug and consumes too much ram, and clashes with some games. like USB / BT Joystick Center, instead of the Archos Gamepad should be something that is included in the system (I think) not to consume any of ram, and looks much better than (Gamekeyboard & USB / BT joystick)
Is there an app that can convert the Xperia PLAY into a Bluetooth game pad? I have tried tablet remote and this doesn't quite work. I am looking for something that will make my Xperia's controls mappable on another device in games like dead trigger. This maybe a bit far fetched but I think this would be a cool app to have.

You could always just, well, play Dead Trigger on your Play. It's a bit far-fetched but it just might work
Joking aside, I don't think so :S

I heard BTController can do it, but I don't know if it transfer the hardware buttons as well.
Use BT Controller. The developer created a fix for our circle button too. I use my Play as a controller for emulators being run on my Asus Slider.

In Korea , Xperia Play named 엑플 . It s read [Expl]
Sorry about the thread is too long.
Thanks for reading thread by noob
Unfortunately, the Xperia Play doesn't have a micro HDMI slot and so can't be connected to your TV in this way

It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
The xperia play development version(that version they showed on shops, magazines)have an HDMI port, but the public release of xperia play don't have this port, maybe it have the software inside, but as far I know no one find such software, maybe possible install them,I think.

Correct the development version of the xperia play had hdmi out. The production models don't. Software wont fix a hardware issue.
sadly only the developer models have an HDMI out :crying:
So there is no way we can connect our xperia play to a tv or monitor?
Find a development model.
Doesn't the play support analog video out via USB??

Like I said,if the software of HDMI is in the phone, you could theorically use a microUSB-to-HDMI cable, check this link: //talk.sonymobile.com/thread/26107
(place http,I dont have 10 posts)they say in service mode shows that xperia have the software.you could use a microUSB-to-HDMI cable to check if work, but at your own risk, since I still don't have one, that's all I can do,

Do you really think no one has tried this?

So that means it does not work??
Hi guys,I have researched and find that microUSB-to-HDMI adapters uses a standard called MHL(mobile high-definition link) to mirror the phone screen on TV,I also find on this thread: //forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1943872
That MHL is software-based,they are even trying to port some of apk from xperia line that support MHL,but they are trying to port to xperia phones that uses NovaThor cpu,at Wikipedia page of MHL: //en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_High-Definition_Link
shows the phones that have native MHL support.
Resuming all this stuff:
1orting MHL to xperia play is possible since is a software.
2:with the port made will be possible to use microUSB-to-HDMI adapters.
With the help of some devs we could port it to xperia play.

Hello fellow Xperia users, is it possible to add ps3 controller support to an Xperia phone with cyanogenmod? Or does anyone know what apk in the phone it is? My phone Xperia Z Ultra supports it natively but I wanna use it on cyanogenmod.
