I have tried resetting the phone flashing fresh stock firmware on, tried 2 different PC's and also 2 different USB cables and all with the same result. So guys any ideas?

I can't get USB mounting to work on my linux PC, windows PC, or work windows laptop.
The computer completely fails to recognize the phone, even when I manually tell it to connect as usb storage device.
I've tried three different USB cables.
ODIN mode isn't recognized either, no USB devices are detected and Odin does not display an ID for the phone.
So WTF do I do know? I believe I need to return to stock firmware but I don't know how without using Odin.
You need to download the drivers for your computer in order for it to read your device. I believe its somewhere here in the forums if not Google it. I would post a link but I'm not on my computer

You can download the drivers from the how to root thread in the dev section.

Are you using the original samsung cable? Mine refuses to be recognized by my pc's if it's not the original cable, works fine with the original but the system never picks it up with any others.

Did you try installing Kies SW from the Samsung site? Installing this SW will also install all of the appropriate drivers on your PC.

Evening amazing people of XDA-Developers!!!!!
My issue is that my Galaxy S 3 (III / I747) charges when plugged in via usb but no drivers are installing. I am unable to see my phone via MTP or Odin (to flash roms or root), my phone does not show me any way of changing the MTP or the other option when plugged in via the phone itself.
It is 2 days old from Costco. I have installed the drivers via "Samsung GS3 QCom ToolKit" and "Kies" with no success.
Thanks and hope I can get this figured out.

What's your operating system? I'm On Windows 8 64 bit and I had to manually install the drivers (clicking on the driver installer) you might also want to try install as administrator and teen off UAC on your PC

I had a similar issue where it was installing as a modem instead of a phone. I manually installed the phone drivers after uninstalling everything
and rebooted, then it started working correctly.

You're never prevented flashing by not using a computer unless you stick with Odin only, even then you have Mobile Odin. Read above and see if it works. Neither of you stated the OS used and causing the problem.

I had this problem when i tried to update S3 from ics to jellybean with NEW install of kies. Had to go to windows settings and untick auto update( i set it to ask me every time) and reinstall kies. Windows auto update seemed to be updating what kies had installed. After this my drivers installed as soon as I plugged in my S3 although windows update does now show 2 samsung update available, I just don't allow the updates.
Hope this helps

I had the same issue, after getting in contact with samsung, all i had to do was turn off the phone, remove the battery, wait 60 seconds and re install battery. after that worked perfectly.
Install Samsung Kies. That will fix the driver issues and it should appear in ODIN after that. That's how it worked for me.

Running Windows 7 Ultimate x64... I have done the following to hopefully alleviate the issue I am having but with no success:
System restored...
Installed KIES...
Used the toolkit...
The only thing that works is charging... even running in Odin, the computer does not recognize the phone... where are the drivers so I can manually install them?

Hi since the last firmware update on note 2(4.1.2) my usb connection to computer have stopped working i plug it and just charge, odin, kies and windows device manager dont recognize it, i have tried in 3 differents computers with 2 differents cables, also a s3 have worked in all computers with both cables, also have restored to factory settings. The charge speed its the same and phone port seems fine. The phone is 2.5 months old, and wasnt rooted.
Can it be firmware problem or its hardware? did the warranty cover this? Also is someone with the same problem?
Should i try flashing to other rom?(with the recovery mode only)
Thanks and sorry for bad english.
i think its firmware problem, if i go download mode the phone is recognized and can flash it with odin
Try changimg to mass storage (ums) imstead of mtp...

I bought a Korean Note II (SHV-E250S) and my computer wasn't able to recognize it from the get-go. Now, I installed a rom that caused my phone to be stuck at the first screen and I can't connect my phone in download mode to restore it. I tried a different cord (supposedly OEM), reinstalling kies, downgrading kies, installing just Samsung USB drivers, uninstalling the unknown device driver, shutting down the computer, installing updates, reupdating kies, emergency software recovery/upgrade, switching USB ports, USB debugging on/off (when the phone still worked). I'm literally out of things to try. Any help will be appreciated.

No. Sorry. I made a back up in clockwork recovery but I get an error MD5 mismatch.
Device Descriptor Request Failed (Code 43)
The phone is now soft bricked and I get Device Descriptor Request Failed (Code 43 I sold it to someone with a T-Mobile rom and N7100 clockworkrecovery. They updated clockworkrecovery and now the phone just boots into recovery and then restarts. I cannot get the phone to connect to the computer at all. I get an error. I have tried talking with support but they tell me to try everything that I have already done, such as; different usb ports, cords, computers, had the usb port replaced, reinstalling software (all of them), and restarting download mode.
any development?
I have the same problem, device descriptor request failed.
Luckily, im not bricking the phone yet.
Nothing
I gave up on that phone. What have you tried?

Some search on google told me that we need to fix the usb pin.
Im not yet trying it. Im afraid it will cause another problem. So i leave the phone as it. Even though i cant do anything to update the phone. (Maybe i do have change to update the phone, but it will take a risk)
Try to fix your usb port pin.
On the phone? I had the pins on the USB port replaced and I bought a new USB port from China with no help. I also tried 5 different computers (both mac and pc) as well as different oem USB cords.

I recently upgraded to the S5 and wanted to turn my phone back in to Sprint for a credit. When I went to flash it back to stock using Odin the USB connected then randomly disconnected during the flash. Now it won't boot into anything but emergency mode and wont stay connected in Odin long enough to flash. I made sure the drivers installed and the pc could see the phone when plugged in. I am using a cord that is only a couple of weeks old. At this point are there any options to put it back to stock or am I out of luck? I never used Kies either. Thanks in advance for the help.

I've tried about three different cables, all three USB ports and the only other laptop is a Windows 8 machine I can't get to detect the phone at this point. So it is sounding like my suspicions are confirmed on a successful flash. Thank you for the advice, love the signature btw!
