It`s pretty scarce on detail, I guess it`s with 3 year contract. I figure I would post it for future T-Mo user...
EDIT: it's on a two year Contract.
If anyone gives it a try post your experience!
I used this deal back when I got my T-Mobile Shadow. I plan on doing so again for the Touch Pro 2, probably tomorrow. I'll post about how it goes!
A 3-year contract? People actually sign those? Aren't you (in the end) paying more than double?
That site doesn't even mention contracts... Where did you get the 3 year contract from?
It will require a 2 year contract, T-Mobile doesn't offer 3 year contracts.
Great deal
I already have a family plan that is maxed out (5 lines). Between myself, my wife, my 18 year old colege freshman, my 16 year old (HS junior), and 14 almost 15 yr old (sophmore) we were maxed out.
I ordered with this promotion getting a 2-line family plan (all activation, etc waived) and getting it for $300 + tax, etc for 2 of them shipped. Note that the promotion also includes other phones and the @Home package if you are so inclined. Awesome deal.
Basically, I am spending between $50 and $150 than many people and getting two of these phones for it. I had to get the new data plan. I have the old grandfathered $19.99 plan on my other phones and $10 unlimited family messaging plans... wish I could use the same plan.

So you now have 2 more lines than you used to have? Doesn't that cost about $70 more per month? That is $1680 for 2 years, FAR more than the difference of just buying 2 unsubsidized Touch Pro2s...
Would someone explain how this works, if you are already an existing T-Mobile customer? Do I have to call T-Mobile and cancel, then call this other number and sign back up? I know this deal saves $200, but this seems like a lot of trouble to go through. Plus, how do you keep your current phone number?
The number is T-Mobile Business Direct. They'll be able to handle everything on the phone with you.

My bad, I just assumed it would be the longest contract since it didn't mentioned anything.
I wasn't aware that T-mobile didn't have them, we sure as hell have them in Canada!
Thanks for the correction, good luck to the T-Mo guys, sound like a very descent deal!
T-mobile OEM on the AT&T network?
I'm wondering, if I buy the T-mo version, can I just SIM-unlock it and run it on the AT&T network, or will the radio ROM not work on the AT&T band? Any thoughts? sick of waiting for AT&T, and they're probably gonna fark up the keyboard anyhow.

Yeah 3 year contracts would suck! No U.S. carries have 3 year contracts. I actually select 1 year contract when I upgrade. I pay the same price as 2-year because I have AT&T Premier (you have access to Premier if you have a discount from your place of employment). This way I get to upgrade to the latest HTC phone every year. And every year around this time is horrible waiting for the next one to come out!

Lucky you, I mostly have to get unlocked phone which are expensive, no contract, but lotsa cash =/
Life was easier before 3G. I will mostly get stuck with crappy AT&T keyboard layout as well thought lol.
Called and ordered today, everything went down well
As an existing customer (off contract) my CS rep first offered to set up a new account (with a new phone#) or add an additional line to my existing account in order to take advantage of the deal. I asked if there was any way I could keep my # and get the deal, or if there was another deal somewhere in-between this and $350 the T-Mobile shops are asking.
She took a moment to check with her manager, who approved, and I got the deal with my current phone number, no problem. Also waived activation and added free shipping. Should have the phone by friday!
This is the 3rd or 4th time I've dealt with Business Direct instead of regular CS, and the folks there are amazing. Much <3 to Amy, my rep today

Nice! I played with the T-Mobile TP2 at my local T-Mobile store and I just can't wait to get my own! AT&T's version will supposedly release in October! So long!
I know most people hate the AT&T keyboard layout, but I prefer it.
Argh, perhaps I spoke too soon :/
The CS rep I spoke with had told me I should receive a confirmation e-mail along with a tracking # in my e-mail some time this afternoon, and that if I didn't I should call back to find out what was going on. So sure enough, no e-mail, so I called Business Direct back...
According to the rep I just spoke with, there was an "open order" on my account, but with no phone or contract details whatsoever. He could find no information about the voice/data plans I had set up, nor anything on the phone itself.
I intend to call back tomorrow, in the hopes that Amy (who had mentioned she was having trouble entering the data into the regular system and had to enter the information in manually(?)) has been able to clear this up. My fear is that another CS rep won't be able to give me the same deal Amy was able to work out with her supervisor. Bah!
Just called in and ordered a new line for our family plan and got the 149.99 price. The rep explained that since the TP2 orders have to be done manually it would take an extra day for the order to be completed. Phone should arrive 3-5 days.
Since I am already out of contract I will just cancel my current line once the Tp2 arrives. No Web plan was required to get this deal either. Just unlimited text messages which we already have on the family plan.
That's good to know, Kable. I'll give it some extra time to make its way through the system then

Yes, but I needed 2 more lines anyway because my family plan was already stretched to 5 lines and I needed a phone for my son and another phone line for my side business.
1 year contract
guys
read thro the thread. earlier, using business direct, i always got my wing(s) and shadow for 1 yr contract. any luck this time.
did any of the folks who already order it ask if 1 yr contract was possible?
thanks

Just curious here. I qualify for the Premier Upgrade right now (and have qualified since November of last year). I just haven't really had a use for it since I shelled out the mucho cash for an unsubsidized EVO back when it came out.
From the sounds of it, my upgrade is going to be taken away from me even though I've already earned it. Has anyone been able to call up Sprint or do anything to manage to keep their upgrade? Any ideas?
What if I change to the unlimited plan today, anyone know if I'd be able to keep my upgrade? I think spending an extra $20 this month on my service would be worth keeping my upgrade past April 1. When I grab a new phone, I'd just bump down to the 450 plan. I'm ok waiting 2 years after the fact, I'm just not really happy with earning an upgrade and then having it stripped from me.
I'm in same.boat I ma call sprint this month to find out, I got an upgrade now and another one in 6 months and I really want to find out, I'm planning of getting the "summer " phone the sprint always releases and get the other one for my wife in Xmas time, but overall I think we should keep it cause it sounds fair to me

I just upgraded to the Unlimited Plan. With the student discount it's not that much more expensive than the 450 plan I have with TEP. Since my intention is to get a new phone in June or whenever, I don't think TEP is going to really be all that necessary for the next couple of months.
The plan "should" kick into effect on March 22 my account says. So that's before the April 1 deadline. And...with my discount, I'm still over $99 (although I don't think that matters). So, I don't anticipate any problems but I'm always skeptical.
I've talked to both executive services and the office of Dan Hesse. both said there is NOTHING they can do about this. They cannot change your upgrade date for any reason.
OK so we keeping them nice I was tripping man, I bought the Evo without contract and I like it a lot and yes it last me more then any other smart phone (iPhone was the other one the last me) but I alwasys would get an smartphone every 6 months I got my Evo since launch and I haven't seen anything that would replace it but CTIA is coming.so I was worried that I would have to buy another 500$ device

I'm in the same boat, got an upgrade waiting for me and want to use it when the new devices roll out. When I talked to CS they said I will still have it when the policy changes, Hope it's true.
such a good thing to hear. i didnt want to get jacked for my upgrade and have to pay for a new phone at full price.
I've been with sprint for 13 years now so I qualify for yearly upgrades regardless of new policy. Guess it pays to be loyal

Sorry, I think some people need clarifying on this. I've just read this as, "I will lose the upgrade that I already earned if I don't use it before 4/1. There's nothing Sprint can do, even if I complain."
That's what I was expecting.
I think some people heard, "I've earned my upgrade already and if I don't use it before 4/1, I keep it because it's not possible for Sprint to reverse and change this."
This isn't what you meant though, is it?

You'll probably get bumped down to silver.
I called Sprint yesterday (from my Hero) and they said if I didn't use my upgrade by April 1 that I was going to lose it and wouldn't get a full upgrade until January. I'd rather live with a 2nd-tier phone (as I'm guessing the EVO will be in about 6 months or so) for 6 months than a 3rd-tier phone for 10, so I went ahead and got my EVO last night.
Basically you need to find a way to get your plan to $89.99. Here's how I did the math:
$69.99 + $10 for 4G = $79.99/mo + $10 of other stuff (more minutes, equip. protection, etc) = $89.99. Pay that bill for 3 months and you've got Gold status.
You wind up spending $10/mo more than normal, but 12 months and $120 later you are granted a $150 upgrade (you make money) and a full 12 months ahead of schedule (you save time). Considering going with Verizon or AT&T or whatever and they'd have us paying $99.99 for roughly the same service with the same old 22 month upgrades, Sprint is still the way to go.
Then again, they could pull the rug out from all of us like they did this time around, so who knows if this will work. If they try and change my status again next February I'm going to file a class action.
Try communicating with Sprint support guys, I'm not sure what to say.
As it stands, I'm keeping my unlimited plan until I upgrade at least. I've been able to exercise my upgrade since 10/1/2010. There's no reason I shouldn't qualify for the "yearly" upgrade as of this moment. Some people may have a different situation (they haven't earned theirs yet, they'll earn it after 4/1). That's probably a different story.
Sprint has led me to believe the following:
I've earned my upgrade as of 10/1/2010. I currently can use the upgrade whenever I want. I let the tech know that I'd like to keep my 450 Everything Data plan. I specifically asked if I could still use the upgrade in May 2011 if I wanted. I was informed that I could.
My concerns over the following log. Did she fully understand that I was asking about a situation where I'd have the 450 Everything Data Plan? I've upgraded to the Unlimited Plan, maybe she's giving me information based on that?
Here's our conversation:

Take what you will from it. Maybe it's not clear what I'm asking here and I was given wrong information.
Either way, the specifics state that I can use the upgrade I've been eligible for since 10/1/2010 after 4/1/2011. I intend to do so. If someone at Sprint stops me, I'm going to possibly raise some hell and throw this in there as evidence of what I was told.
I shouldn't "have" to keep my Unlimited Plan, but I will for now just for the heck of it. Eh, I just landed a new job making twice as much in salary. Maybe I'll just stick with the unlimited plan simply to retain the yearly upgrade.
If you currently are eligible for a Premiere upgrade, AND you will become a Gold Premiere Member on 4/1, you will still have your upgrade.
If you currently have an upgrade, and will become a Silver Premiere member on 4/1 you will lose the upgrade.
That's what they have told me. It may be wrong, considering the CSR's track record of not having a clue about anything.
So you mean to tell me if I had a unlimited plan since the launch date of the evo I could get a upgrade this year? If so, this just made my day.

Unfortunately for me, that means that they'll take my upgrade away even though I upgraded to the Unlimited plan because I won't have a three months base average $89 bill right away.
Well if that ends up being the correct outcome, then the question would be if I'd earn back my upgrade 3 months from now...or if I'd have to wait until 10/1/2011 regardless of what I do.

I believe your math is flawed... Only the base rate (69.99) counts towards the gold level, your $20 in addons don't count for didly squat And since your base rate is not $89.99 or higher, you are a silver level member.
I just called sprint and they said I would be eligible for and full upgrade in 2012 and I will be eligible for $150 upgrade in the coming months. So what's the hype about. I still have to pay money this year for a new phone if I want one. Even though my bill is well over 89 dollars. They also said in order to be a gold member you have to be with sprint for ten years. Someone tell me if I'm missing something here.

I have a Droid Incredible that I got probably a week or two after the release date (somewhere around May 2010). So my 2-year contract ends around the first or second week of May of 2012. My Dinc is pretty much dead, lots of problems with it now and I need to replace it before May. I was wondering if anyone in a similar circumstance (or anyone who knows) can give me an estimate on how much it will cost to upgrade to the GNex tomorrow? I also have a employer discount of 20% monthly and 25% on accessories (if that has any effect).
Also, in case it matters, my name isn't set as the owner of the Family Plan that I am on but I do have the main line that the Plan is attached two (the other two lines on the family plan are the added lines). Not sure if I need to get him to come with me (we live 2 hours apart) or if getting him on the phone/knowing his SSN would be enough to allow me to upgrade. I will be paying for it in cash so I don't need to charge it to the monthly phone bill.
Thanks,
Steven
I don't believe you can get an early upgrade until 20 months into your contract.. so you would have to wait until January to get it for $299.. Otherwise it will most likely be $649 off contract if you really can't wait..
That would really suck considering it is only like $150 for the ETA. They can't let me pay the $150+300 for the phone? I guess I can wait until mid January but my phone sometimes goes days where it reboots every 10-15 minutes plus even with the extended battery it can be 10% by like 1pm (used to last 2 full days easily). Some days it is virtually impossible to use and I just leave it at home. (sorry for ranting, lol)

Haha no worries, I was in this position before my Nexus with my original Droid
You can certainly try, it depends on who you talk to really.. if you talk to someone who is having a particularly good day that has enough authority (I'm assuming a store manager could do this) then you might be able to get it a month early, who knows.. worth a shot. Goodluck
I have a Droid Incredible and Verizon shows I am eligible to upgrade. I had already planned on upgrading to the Nexus but I accidentally killed my phone over a month ago which made me even more anxious.
I don't think I upgraded to the Incredible right away (at release) but I might have. Still only a two week difference and I was eligible to upgrade (with a renewed contract) back in November for sure.

I got my OG Droid a week before the dInc came out, and I was eligible on 12/3... so those of you who bought a dinc day of, or really early on, may be eligible right now or very very soon.
That being said I spoke to a guy who got me my Rezound a day early (I returned it because it was bad, 2 of em) because I was going out of state and I just went about it not expecting them to help me but asking kindly for some help because my OG Droid's headphone jack is all but shot and I use it to listen to music in my car.
Dont know if it will work, but only a manager can force the system to let you get an upgrade early. Worth a shot, just dont get your hopes up. Good luck.
Edit: I just read about the not being the primary / authorized person on the account to make changes, you may run into a lot of road blocks. You may have to have the account owner call up Verizon and see if there is anything they can do to get you authorized to make changes. Even though you aren't charging the phone to the account. If you are paying the subsidized price for the device you are infact signing a contract that binds that line up for a set amount of time. (2 years most likely)
don't let the responses discourage you. I signec a 2 year this past march & got the thunderbolt. in october, the thunderbolt started having some "big" issues & I wasn't paying for insurance so decided to call 611 for the hell of it and see if they'd do anything for me.
they ended up offering me an early upgrade!
which I eventually used for the rezound and exchanging tomorrow.
definitely call them & see what they can do. I wouldn't bother going to a store as they'd just tell you to call anyway.
Early Upgrade
If you signed a "New Every 2" plan before Jan 2011, you should be able to upgrade your phone after 12months. VZ will tell you that's there's a $20 charge for upgrading early. This is an optional charge. I upgraded from my OG Droid (bought 11/09) 13months later to the Droid X on 12/1/10. Charged the extra $20 bucks. I signed a new 2 year contract (ne2). I just upgraded to the Droid RAZR on 12/3/11. When I upgraded to the RAZR, they waived the $20 charge.
After Jan/2011 VZW did away with the NE2 plans and now enforce the 20month upgrade discount policy. Now I'm not sure how this affects you when you are not the primary on the account. But I would at least look into it. Also if you go through multiple phones, talking to Customer Relations not service might help you get an early upgrade for repeat problem phones.
I tried Amazon Wireless and it said I wasn't eligible, so then I tried LetsTalk. They said I am not eligable until 1/4/12 so that is only 20 days from now. I am going to call Verizon this evening or tomorrow and see if I can get them to bump it up less than a month so I can purchase it earlier, otherwise I guess I can wait until January 4th.
It also said I can order it now and they will hold it for me until the fourth. LetsTalk's price is $174.99 for me to upgrade so I may order it now to lock in that sale price, though it would suck if they or somewhere else got a better deal by then. Hmm, decisions..
I emailed Verizon last week and they just called me back and left a voicemail saying they will let me get my upgrade early! I have to call the specific person back and I hope she will enable my upgrade not just force me to buy it through her (Verizon) instead of being able to get it though Amazon or LetsTalk since I would be saving $125. I will let you guys know in case anyone else is interested in upgrading early.
I was able to upgrade early despite being in contract only 8 months in with my Thunderbolt. I had to agree to buy some accessories which came out to be about $400 total but it sure beat the price of paying $650 + tax for another 8 months extension.
It all depends on who you talk to I guess.
I had the dinc and got it about 3 weeks after release. I got my nexus on Thursday and just had to pay the $20 early upgrade fee. Was about $360 when it was all said and done. Go to your store and just ask. Doesn't hurt.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
I had to buy it through Verizon but she discounted it so it wasn't the full $300. I should have it in two days and I already purchased a screen protector and also the extended battery for $25. A nice Christmas present to myself.
I too came from having a Dinc. I got my Dinc in July 2010. When I was on VZW website it said I was able to upgrade back when the T-Bolt came out. I just waited till the GN came out and ordered it and only had to pay the $299 + tax. Nothing else. Was disappointed no discount like the old days w/ new every 2 years but oh well. I was even able to bill to my account w/ free shipping and just got it and life is good.
In an industry where customer churn can be likened to the fearsome troll under the bridge, Sprint has launched a program designed to keep its favored subscribers around for another two years. While not everyone is eligible -- those who've upgraded less than eight months ago, corporate outfits and those in collections need not inquire -- the program lets customers buy their way out of their current commitment and become eligible for a new, subsidized handset. The promotion begins February 12th and is set to run through the 14th of April, where the amount you pay correlates to the time since your last upgrade. So if you're currently pining for the Epic 4G Touch or the iPhone 4S, just give your local Sprint store a call this Sunday. They just may be able to hook you up.

It's more like they want to get rid of Wimax phones and other inventory it seems like. It's a ripoff, hardly worth the price. Ebay is cheaper

IMO opinion this is more of a contract buyout to get new user pricing than it is an early upgrade promo like the Sprint Premier Gold program was.
It makes 0 sense to pay $55 to buy out for early upgrade if you're like 1-4 months out.

Keep in mind though, that we live in a world where people will happily spend well in excess of $55 to "upgrade" from something like a IPhone 4 to a 4s. Sometimes, "sense" takes a back seat to a desire to be instantaneously satisfied... lol

I have to agree, people at my store will pay a lot to get their upgrade now to get the phone they want now. I think a lot of it comes from people who buy cheap phones and just can't take having them anymore and will do anything to get out of that phone.

This actually isn't a promotion. It's just a last resort offering by Retention as of right now. You pay on average $10/month remaining on your contract with an average maximum of 6 months to move your upgrade up. We've been doing it for months for customers in my stores, but it's never really been publicly advertised.

Are you working for a corporate store or a preferred retailer? I'm a preferred retailer and would love to know how you go about doing it, and compare that to the way we do it at our store. Shoot me a PM, love to compare notes!

can i be included in this? i only have a way for 2 weeks early... preferred retailer
My wife is only 2 months away from an upgrade; if she waits, she still pays 36 dollars "activation fee", or, if she does it tomorrow, its the same 36 dollars, so, if you are a month or 2 away, it doesn't cost you a dime more to do it now..
yes, i am sure its to clean out the existing inventory before the "new" network is in full swing..
WOOT, 3000 POSTS!!
I work at a preferred dealer as well, just tell your customers to call customer care and see if they can do an early upgrade. If that doesn't work have them be transferred to retentions and say someone they know was able to buy out their remaining contract and get an early upgrade. That easy. I have my upgrade still, saving it for the GSIII because I'm not stupid like some people.

i have an airave for that
Ok I called Sprint customer care today inquiring about the upgrade. My girl's line is due for upgrade in October and I am tired of her complaining about her Evo3d restarting all the time. So I called to see if I can get that upgrade for an Iphone for her. I was told that the new promo is only for people who's upgrade is in April or earlier and are also having phone issues. I think I'm going to call a corporate store tomorrow. Any advice or am I wasting my time? The Engadget article said if you upgraded within the last 8 months your or not eligible. I didn't upgrade this line within the last 8 months.
To upgrade or not to upgrade....
I saw this on Friday and wandered into a Sprint store on Sunday. The fella at the desk told me this was all legit and that I would need to call customer service because he could not do anything from the store (he said to ask for the "retentions" department).
I've been suffering with a Hero for the last 18 months. Loved the phone when I first got it, but it didn't take long to realize that it was not powerful enough to keep me happy. My wife is on her third Moment because everything about that phone just doesn't seem to work. I was hoping to hold out for an LTE phone but it appears those won't be dropping until late summer, and I'm not sure if we can hold out that long.
On the Sprint website, I get a message that I am eligible for $150 off a new phone on April 1 (remnants of the Premiere Program). From what I read, I'll have to pay $36 to upgrade in April or I can pay $55 now.
So my question(s) to all you Sprint people out there, am I reading all this correctly? Will I still qualify for the $150 off the new phone? Am I absolutely crazy for not waiting for LTE? Should I take the SGS2E4GT (Galaxy S 2) or hold out for the Nexus?
Thanks for the input.

I would buy a used phone off Craig's list or something now and hold onto you upgrade for an LTE device. You can get an E4GT for around $300 and EVO 3D for much less or an Nexus 4G for even less then that.
That is what I would do because once the GN drops you know you will want it or whatever cool LTE phone comes out soon after that...
The way I read this is that they are just pro-rating your ETF (the way they all should do anyway).
In theory, it works like this:
A high end handset costs ~$600 but in exchange for signing a 2-year contract, the cell phone carrier will subsidize $400 of the cost and roll the cost of that "loan" into the cost of your monthly service. You get a new phone without as large an initial outlay of cash and they gain a steady source of income for at least the next 2 years.
In theory you should be able to bring your own phone and get service at a lower cost off-contract because you aren't paying off a subsidy but since the top 3 providers don't offer this, there is not really any benefit to not taking the subsidy. You are already paying the same monthly rate so other than not being locked into a service contract, you gain nothing financially from not taking the $400 subsidy.
Along with this, in theory, your ETF should drop by 1/24th every month as you are basically paying off the subsidy one month at a time over two years. Once again, it doesn't quite work that way. At least this is an attempt to let people pay off the remaining subsidy before signing a new contract and taking a new one.
I would prefer to just pay $600 for my phone and then pay $17 less per month (approx 1/24 of $400) with no contract but since the US market seems accustomed to cheaper subsidized handsets on contract I don't know it would ever take off much. The contracts, handset exclusives, and lack of porting options have made it so the carriers have little incentive to compete on price or plan options..but that's another topic for another day.
Well I got mine it was 40 bucks but.my Gf needs a new phone had so, iPhone 4s and she can have my day 2week old epic touch 4g
Update: I got my upgrade and the fee was added to my bill and my upgrade is now waiting. Pretty cool. I have another upgrade in August so I will se what they have then.

I have a upgrade in October, but I'm debating to hold off for the s3 which could be a long way off or get the epic touch. I have a 3d right now but the white epic touch looks sexy.

Most of the other carriers are ahead of the game. What happened to T-Mobile?
Based on their past record, they probably won't announce a BOGO deal until after the trade-in offers expire. Perhaps they will offer BOGO for the next holiday, such as memorial day...
I was surprised that they went with a trade-in offer this time, as their new favorite deal seemed to be just BOGO's last year...
Really looking to switch to t mobile and get the s9, but waiting on the bogo deal. Asked a store and the guy said in 2 weeks. Of course I don't know how accurate that is, but would be perfect for me and my dad to hop on it, especially since he can get the senior plan for 70 bucks for 2 lines.. Lol
Sprint does NOT have a BOGO. They only offer a lease one get a free lease on a second. So a LOGO, only you never own the phone, you only get to make perpetual payments.

But you get within 1% reliability of the other guys!
It's live. But not the good one with the prepaid MasterCard. Seems like you have to keep the new line active for the full 2 years.

Actually , their "trade in" is a bit iffy. You get a S9 for a trade in, and in return they offer $12.89 refund per month for 24 months IF you finance the S9.
I handed them over a S7 I had from 2 years ago, and in return I pay $17.11 per month for the S9. It's not like I can pay $360 instead if $720 and own the phone. The quick way out is pay $720 and keep the line to keep getting the refund, or lose it. In my case, I don't mind as I can't get a better international deal than TMO elsewhere for the price, and I travel a lot..

Man, that sucks... I purchased mine from Samsung directly... Tmo version was about $420 with the trade-in, and luckily they only make you pay tax on that amount (not the 700+ price).
I also wanted to put it all on my credit card as one payment because anything I purchase with it automatically gets 1 extra year of warranty... (chase saphire reserve)
Any idea about how long these sales last on the bogo? Been waiting for this, but now my father left on a trip and can't do it till around April 24th and he gets the senior discount so I just get on his plan. But who knows if the sale will be then. My biggest dilemma is losing my phone number from straight talk as I'm on straight talk now and want to save the number, but if he goes to a store elsewhere and ports my number over, I'll be phoneless for a few weeks til I get my Sim card back from them
You can get a new line without porting your number over. Then when you get to your sim card or whatever then you can go to the store and finish the port
