Hi,
My mobile fell into water and when i took it out, there was one light and the phone switched off!
I dried it under dryer but no good, is my motherboard gone? or any chance ?
I had rooted my phone, so will they come to know its rooted and warranty will go?

Dryer alone would not take out all the water of the internals of the phone. Best move, not sure if you're still in time as I haven't done it, is to take zip lock bag and fill it with white rice and put in the phone in without cover and battery. The rice will absorb he moisture and leave it completly dry inside.
leave it over night in the rice before trying to turn it on. If it doesn't turn then they won't know it's rooted. If you have Asurion, some say they don't care much if you have rooted a device and they sometimes surcharge $25 for flashing to stock.
Good luck!
You can also us desiccant Bags. They work quite well,an are fairly cheap. Just whatever you do, do not turn on the device till you have fully died it out.

that's very important, don't turn it on until its completly dry or the device could and will short and there's no coming back from that...

Last night i was in the bathroom, and accidently dropped it in the sink, It wasnt submurged under water or anything, it had a light splash of water near the charger port, the sticker under the battery is slightly pink. The phone works fine. No problems. however when i plug it into my computer, i cant turn on usb storage, but it will charge, also I tried winamp yesterday and it synced my phone and copied all music to the phone.. What should I do? I could swap the phone out but the problem is it's rooted, and if they find water damage they said theyd charge me 200 bucks. What should I do? Could i call HTC? :/
If you don't have insurance then theres nothing you can do except get another phone.
For future reference if you ever drop your phone into any kind of water....immediately take the battery out...leave the phone apart (back case, battery, phone) and then stick them all into a big bowl of uncooked rice and let them sit in there for a couple of days.
The rice will absorb the moisture and usually your phone will still work okay.

I did leave it in rice for a about 6 hours, i noticed the battery seems to have a water damage sticker on the bottom of the battery and it didnt even hit that. the water damage seems to be minimal

Well if you can live with your phone the way it is then just do that. If not then pay the deductible and get yourself a new phone.
I may consider just keeping it, I mean i could just use dropbox to sync. Maybe it will come back to life.
EDIT: WOW. my usb is connected!! wow. dude. wow. sounds like a troll post but it's working again. this is insane. i just blew in it with canned air and it started to work.
You probably blew some water droplets off of where they were shorting a circut perhaps dried it id still be careful

I'd leave it in the rice with the battery out for as long as possible. It may take a few days for the water to dry out.
I went swimming with my phone once, for a good 5 minutes before I realized what happened. There was a nasty buzzing noise (I though it was an insect).
I dropped it in rice, stuck some packets of dessicant in it (the packets they put in shoe boxes and electronics) and it functioned for a month. It then died completely and I had to toss it. This was the Nokia 5300 from back in the day.
My wife dropped my galaxy nexus in a bucket of water. So I pulled out the battery and they both sat for about 20 minutes separate, then I powered it back and it gives the usual screen of "I just got dunked!" and isn't working correctly.
Apparently, Verizon never added insurance to my phone when I signed up for it when I got it.
Thoughts on what to do???
How long ago did you buy the phone because you still might have time to buy a warrenty.. put your phone in rice for 24 hours.. not sure if it should be cooked or not so Google it... I'm sorry for your lose and everyone here at XDA forums wish you the best of luck.. the galaxy nexus is a fighter!
Remove the battery and store the phone in a container with lots of rice for a few days. It is a long shot but I have saved a few devices in this manner. The damage may already be done since you tried to power it on.
Something else to do is rinse the phone thoroughly with distilled water before putting it in the rice. This may get rid of any residue left over from the water in the bucket.
Claim on the house insurance? Ive never made a claim before but thats what its there for.
You should put your phone in a convection oven at 50-60 degrees centigrade for like 24 hours.
The battery should NOT be put in there!
One should never try to power it back on after 20 minutes.
This won't help you now, but as others said, after dropping into water DO NOT turn the phone on without letting it sit in a bag of rice for two days MINIMUM>
Wow, sorry about that. You did the right thing by pulling the battery. I really don't understand why you powered it up so soon though, did you think it would dry out in 20 minutes?
Jackpot! Just added total coverage insurance Had 9 days left.
Should I go ahead and make my claim? Or wait a day or two?
And I rooted and unlocked my phone, and since I cannot restore it back to stock, should I report it as lost or will it not matter?
Uncooked rice. For a couple days.. maybe you'll get lucky

It's not that difficult to get a new one. You can usually find suitable replacements in bars or on dating sites, especially if you've got money. Look for a model that doesn't drop your calls (in water).

Wait a few days.. and probably file a lost claim though you might have to file a police report for that.

Ok, THAT is funny... and very true, he may need to make that change
As far as the unlocked rooted thing, i don't think it matters at this point. If you are getting it replaced anyway, just totally kill it so it doesn't turn on. who's to know.
Seriously, put the phone in a ziplock bag with UNCOOKED rice for at LEAST 24 hours.
It will absorb all of the moisture out of the phone. Don't be stupid and try to turn it on or plug it in before 24 hours or you risk frying it.
The battery will most likely be fully depleted also. But take it slow. The phone will also still be a little "wonky" even after a few days.
Be careful with the rice too. I usually fill the bag up half way and lay it on a counter... gently placing the phone on top. Last thing you want is rice dust lodged in your buttons (ie Don't shake the bag)
I've done this a few times. Once in the toilet (before use), my kid threw my phone in the tub while I was showering, and my gf dropped her in a puddle.
All were recovered fully.
You have to watch out for water damage with the stickers unless you have full coverage. Theft and loss are two different things. I don't know if you'd need a police report if you just "lost" it. Maybe you were on a Ski Lift and fumbled it into the woods below. Perhaps since we don't have an official 3-Pin Car Holder, the phone slid and fell out the window. I don't think any of those would require a police report.
The window excuse gives you reason to stress test the screen with your car.
Rice thing worked for my wife once on her env3...second time she had it in the washing machine and it left lines on the screen...so rice didnt work on that occasion...luckily when youre best friends with a verizon store manager they can make your life much easier.
You do know that making a claim on your insurance at this point is basically just petty theft?
Another thing to know is to dunk in rubbing alcohol before you let it dry out. The alcohol will actually displace any water still left in the phone (as much as possible) and then you can put it in rice.
When you place the phone in rice, I wouldn't seal the container unless you live in swampy super humid environment. Sealing it traps moisture and ensures the only place the water can go is the rice. That's not the objective. The goal is to draw moisture out of the phone. It doesn't matter if it goes into the air or the rice.
The alcohol option makes since as it evaporates more quickly. But I'd only do that immediately after it happened like the poster stated.
Lastly, swap it out at any time. They don't care because ultimately it will end up in a he said she said ordeal. They will just end up insuring it any how. I've actually had a repair facility add insurance to my account so they can work on my device. The key is being in that window that you can purchase it.

i once washed my ipod in the washer. it came out, was still on, i turned it off and kept it in rice for 2 days. then it wouldnt power on. i left it in the toaster oven on 165 for a couple of days. still no go and pc doesnt even detect a usb device. after 2 weeks i thought id turn it on.. and it still doesnt. but before i threw it out, i decided to connect it to the usb, and bam! red charging battery. it works perfectly fine now.
Well, apparently my insurance didn't go through yet and my claim didn't work. Took advice from a friend who works at verizon and I hope I can still do the claim again.
My phone is sitting in rice.. hoping it works.
A little late, but I saw an article on life hacker today about a product designed especially for drying wet portable electronics. Fairly reasonable price swell.

I lied. Here: http://venturebeat.com/2012/01/06/dropped-your-phone-in-the-toilet-use-bheestie-to-fix-it

Hello, I have a Note 2, and today I accidentally did spill water on it, I did take out the battery, dry everything, battery, contacts, the surface, I removed the SIM card, and I have not turned it on since it happened, I'm afraid that there's still water inside; I dry it at least 5 seconds after it happened, I was readin on putting the phone in rice in a bowl, without battery, disassembled or assembled? does it work? does it has to be fully covered? it's dry now, but if you please can give me another advice, I would appreciate it, thanks!

Yes disassemble it. i mean remove battery cover and battery too and let it in a bowl of rice(covering the phone with the rice) for a day. It'll absorb the humidity and phone should work .
hope i helped, bests

well yes you can keep the phone on a bowl of rice but dont fully submerged the phone in rsther kkep it on top level just a bit submerged, dont ever try to to use hair dryer and stuff, rather the best way would be if you can disassemble the unit and keep it to dry moisture for a day and it should run fine after that ,do check if any motherboard has any water residue and even the digtizer if found then let it dry more until unless you are sure it has soaked the moisture
I've left the phone in a bag half covered with rice, I won't use it until tomorrow, I'm pretty sure it's ok, as I said, I dryed it in about 5 seconds after I spill the water, thanks for the help, I will let you know if it works
EDITED: It works fine! I just hope it does not give me any problem in the incoming days, thanks!!!
So my wife forgot my phone out on the deck today in the rain. I don't know how long it was out there but discovered it when I went looking for it. I tried drying it out the best I could with a hair dryer and towels. When it was wet it was on but the buttons wouldn't wake the phone and the only sign of life was the home button lit up along with the back and menu buttons.
When I was finished drying it out I put the battery, sim card, and sd card back in and now it won't even power on. I have the phone sitting in a bag of rice to try and dry out any moister that is probably still in the phone. But what are the chances she just killed my phone? Has anyone had any luck bringing the G Pro back to life after water damage?
The rice in the bag trick is probably your best bet .......leave it in there for a good long while .. I would go like a day or something .... Some phones it works ... Some it doesn't ....

before you soak your phone to rice. yout priority is to remove most of the mositure in the motherboard/logic board by soaking it with 100 % isoprophyl alchohol. 70 -90% is not recommended as this solution still contain little water. then soak it with dry instant rice which is much better than the raw rice

Should I leave it disassembled before putting in the rice or is it fine for it to be all together?

yes, focus on drying the logic board and the lcd panel
Put it in rice
I got it as dry as I can, put it all back together, and now it's been sitting in instant dry rice since last night. I also used a hair dryer to help dry it out. The heat shouldn't hurt it right? I mean these smartphones these days can get pretty hot anyway....lol
Well. it's official. The phone is gone. I had a couple people try to revive it using the alcohol method with no luck. So, now I have to find a way to get a new phone and cheap as I have very little money to spend, a baby on the way, and no home phone. So I have no phone. Anyone know where I can find a good phone cheap? Like 100 bucks cheap?

Try Moto Atrix HD. Best phone for $100. Or your might need to look for a moto g.
By the way, next time find your phone wetw(if it happen again ), power it off as soon as possible, remove battery and keep it dry in rice for more than 3 days. Lots of my friends got their phone back to life from toilets in this way. Again, remove battery and leave it for 3 days. Don't power it on within 3 days.
Hi long story short: Phone slip from my jacket into a ice cold water cooler and spend there at least 2 minutes.
I was able to disassemble and dry it up, did a trick with usb charging and replugging the battery at the same time of powering it up and I got it working again.
The display is soaked in water still no matter how much I try to dry it using a hair dryer. So I order a new one. + a new battery just in case this ones goes bad eventually.
Now my problem is that the usb is not being recognized while plugged on a computer.
Beside this I don't know what other hidden issues it might have.
How screw am I ?
How much mileage can I get out of this phone now?
Do you have any kind of corrosion on metal contact and/or phone motherboard? If so, the only way to fix corrosion is to clean it in ultrasound bath with chemicals.
you're not suppose to turn it on until it fully dried, too late for that
you should have left it in some rice for a few days
do it now and it might still be recoverable since it seems to still work, but don't get your hopes up

Put the turned off phone covered in a bowl with uncooked rice asap and let it in for a day or two to extract as much moisture as possible :good:
Well it seems it is done.
First the volume button went out, then the power button. I tried and clean it again with alcohol to no avail. Send it to a repair shop to see if they can fix it since the phone is still working but can't turn it off without the buttons.
Thanks everyone that chime in. really appreciate it!
