ATT SGH -i747 Unlocked on TMO no Sim error - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

I am confused and looking for some help. I have a SGH-i747 ATT S3 which I rooted before when I was on ATT. I currently unlocked it and then decided to change my rom. Being that I was not on TMO network I downloaded a TMO rom however once it was done I got a no sim error. In this situation is best to continue using ATT roms? I am going to unroot back to ATT and see if that clears the problem. What is recommended in my situation?

Using t999 on at&t

Well, just moved to washingron, and t-mobile has no coverage within 10 miles of where I am at, but at&t has full 4g here. Got the at&t sim, on the go-phone plan, modified the apn and get data now. However, I keep getting warnings that my sim card is bad by several t-mobile functions. Can I flash an att rom to it, and do I need to avoid the att modems, or are they also ok to flash on the att network?

No. You can't do that.

First of all, don't flash any modems.
My phone is an AT&T Unlocked i747 Galaxy S3 and I no longer have AT&T service, but instead I chose Tmobile.
I now have a tmobile sim and have been flashing Tmobile roms ever since I changed my carrier to tmobile.
Everything works fine as long as I do NOT flash any Tmobile Modems.
None of the Tmobile or AT&T custom roms contain the modem image.
All of this also holds true when coming from Tmobile sim and going with AT&T sim.
If your phone is not unlocked I would suggest that you unlock it for best results.

What about kernels? Which T-Mobile ones can we flash onto an AT&T S3? I'm doing what you are. AT&T S3 on T-Mobile.

If you have a tmobile sim chip then flash tmobile kernel.
If you have a AT&T sim chip then flash AT&T kernel.
But if I were you I would stay with stock kernels which all the custom Jellybean 4.1.1 roms already come with.
So if you flash a Tmobile custom rom, it will come with a tmobile kernel.
If flashing a AT&T custom rom it will come with the stock AT&T kernel.
Good luck!

Awesome! I have a T-Mobile Sim in my ATT s3. I'm running universe s4 ROM. So I wouldn't have to flash a kernel when flashing TW ROMs from tmo?

You never have to flash a kernel regardless of which rom you flash.
All roms come with kernels, all the kernels you see here in XDA which are separate
downloads are custom kernels unless they are specified as being stock.
Custom kernels might be OK for experimenting for those people who want to
over clock or under volt their phones. In my opinion it's a waste of time and
cause more problems or issues than whatever advantages they may have.
(in my personal experience custom kernels have no real advantages at all)

Hotspot

Hello all, I recently switched over from AT&T to TMO with an unlocked AT&T GS4. My cell says that I have an invalid sim card when I try to use it as a hotspot. I called TMO and they told me not all TMO features will work on a ATT phone thats unlocked. Any walk arounds??

I have an AT&T variant (unlocked) as well and I while I cannot install a recovery without Safestrap, I do have Safestrap installed. I also called T-mobile about the Wifi Hotspot not working and they advised me that it would not work on their stock rom but I could try flashing a T-mobile version. I've tried about a dozen rom's so far but I cannot get some of them to boot at all and the ones that do, I have no working Wifi. I've also tried about 6 different AT&T kernels with these roms and so far, nothing works. I 'think' this is something to do with Safestrap but I don't know for sure.

ATT rom?

My phone is unlocked and this Tmobile rom is about to make me crush this phone, can I load the ATT rom for the skyrocket and use it with my straight talk att sim I am already using?

Will your phone not recognize your SIM? I unlocked my phone and had another SIM other than T-Mobile and it was working perfectly. But yes, you can flash ATT Skyrocket ROMS if you think that can fix your problem. I currently have the Embryo ROM on my Hercules which is meant for the Skyrocket.

It works, but after an update about 2 months ago this phone is slow to load the keyboard when trying to text, closing menus and apps takes forever it didn't used to do that. I figured trying an ATT rom might fix the problem and might have a way to block OS updates.

[Q] AtT NOte 2 unlocked, now using Tmobile, Can't upgrade firmware

MY sister called ATt to unlock her phone when she went abroad, they did. Now she no longer has ATT and is with tmobile. Using the Tmobile sim card, she can't seem to upgrade her OS using the firmware update option in settings. How can she go about upgrading? she currently has android 4.1.2 with the NOte 2?
also if i flash aokp on her phone, but she don't like it, then flash back the original 4.1.2 firmware, would i lose the unlock that ATT did for her and she can't use Tmobile anymore?

Unlock is permanent ok.
Ota updates come from AT&T servers, meaning you'll need to be on AT&T network.
Btw plenty of stock 4.4.2 Roms in the development section you can flash for her.
Aosp is to buggy and isn't official 4.4.2.
Check here>> http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-2-att/development
And good luck..

Unlocked an At&t SGS3 for use on Tmo

Hey guy I just unlocked an old SGS3 for AT&T SGH-I747. Now i plan on giving the phone to my mom for her to use since her current phone is a POS... how would i go about getting tmobile firmware on it for her without bricking. I know i have to root first and then Recovery then Rom, but is it safe and stable to run TMO rom on the att model of the S3. I just want to make sure that i go about this the rite way.
Thanks in advance
Will she be using T-Mobile data? The i747 does not natively support aws frequencies so that may be a problem. Voice calls would probably work.
You can't flash the t999 modem and bootloader to the i747 so forget about flashing a T-Mobile rom to i747.
Pray tell: How did you Un-Lock it?
I haven't been able to get past the debug screen?
Any info is appreciated, Thanks!
