Thanks,

Yeah, it'll work i think. But my main problem is that i dont have the right "tools" to connect my HOX NFC sensor to my pc, via my HOX USB port.

Try to use Google Search....maybe you need an app for that...so try to search in Google ...for example nfc card reader android or so...just use your fantasy or so xD

I'll try to find something,
thanks!
Have you found something that works? I am also interested in using HOX as nfc reader/writer. I guess for the same reason .
Nope didn't found something. Not even close to something that might work. If we want this we must make our own tools. But then we are world first . If you found something, i'm interrested!! Thanks

You mean like this?
http://sven.killig.de/android/N1/2.2/usb_host/
The above link is for G1, N1, Desire but should be able to do the same on other phones
just to use USB ?
I saw someone ask Scotty this question on IRC, and he said it should be able to do it for definite. Someone just needs to do the work to make it happen.
It's called USB OTG! And AFAIK, it is going to be tough to get it working on the G2. But then who knows..It seems Scotty can do anything these days
it is possible on desire:

why is this not possible on vision?
waiting for this function
holy ass, that thing in the link looks awesome
i have an extra sd card, swapped out the one i use for phone, ran universal USB installer and was able to turn my phone into a "pen" driver.

Thanks for your answer. You know a Guide how to port this to Z ? Perhaps we can insert some modules..
I've managed to boot ubuntu ontop of android but I think Android needs the modules first to pass usb-host-mode

I have a Kindle Fire 2 here at my desk.
After i rooted the device i tried to install TWKP to make backups and install new images.
But after that the Kindle doesnt boot anymore and just shows a red screen.
Ive red very much at this forum but im unsure what to do.
First of all i build a Factory Cable with the tutorial
I solded all Cables like in the Pictures.
I press the powerbutton vor 20 Seconds and plug in my Factory Cable but it only shows the red screen instead of the "fastboot mode" screen.
Also I tried the Instruction from "flopower1996" ( i cant link because im a new user ) but it doesnt work for me.
Do i need some special Cable for the Factory Cable or does any usb cable will do it ?
Can you help me further ?
Thanks for your attention

Hey all,
a few days ago my galaxy nexus has fallen onto the ground and the display broke. So currently, I cannot use the smartphone anymore, as the display does not turn on and also the touch ability seems also to be broken. However, I can enter fastboot mode so I would be able to flash some stuff, like another OS. As I bought a new Nexus 5, I do not really need the old galaxy nexus anymore (even if it was a nice smarthone).
But, I would really be sad if I must throw it away because it is a really powerful device and every other unit (WLAN, processor and so on) seem to work. So, now I have the question if I could use in alternatively, e.g., flashing some linux on it and use it as mail server or media box. The idea came up because I wanted to buy a raspberry pi and then I thought: Hey, the galaxy nexus is much more powerful and the raspberry pi also does not have any screen.
Would this be possible? Use the galaxy nexus like a raspberry pi?
So, I'm looking on some nice alternative ways of using the phone and perhaps also some references on how to do it.
Greets,
mister-viper
I'd change the screen and sell it...
Alternatively, you can also buy an MHL cable and use it as TV media player, using a BT mouse/keyboard.
genus edusbb
maybe you can use it for tethering?
Or maybe sell it for parts ( I need an ear piece )

I had the OP's exact same issue and I replaced my screen. I have an extra earpiece that I'd be willing to mail to you if you PM me your address, provided I can find my stamps.

Does Ace 2 support OTG?
I've looked everywhere for info and all I found was some stone age posts. Has anything changed? I have cyanogenmod 10.2 (adapted for Ace 2) which has OTG function, it just doesn't work.... properly. When I plug USB stick, nothing happens. When I plug my gamepad, light turns on, but nothing happens. I have an adapter that was bought for Nexus 3, used for Galaxy S3 and S4 (I saw posts saying that you need specific adapter, so i'm just throwing that info in).
Edit: Also, when i turn OTG function on, phone thinks it's charging. Even when I plug in and out charger itself.
Ty for any info in advance and I won't forget to push that Thanks button.
Nope. No OTG on ACE II.

Could you link me to the project?
Only power works, and that's been possible since D-Kernel I think...
People have said the problem is all in the kernel configuration, no proof on whether that's true
---------
In fact I don't think any released ROM, 2.x or 4.x, even supports dock mode (or maybe that's due to the very poor resistors I used... a CM based rom even stopped accepting USB until the next reboot...)
Cocafe already tried to make OTG working but he failed AFAIK

Ive been searching everywhere on the net for a battery replacement and nothing has come up. My pixel C screen was lifting so I removed the screen to find the battery corroding and expanding. The battery must be replaced but I think there are none available anymore. This could be the end for the Pixel C and its too bad. These tablets are still ahead of 90% of all tablets tested by 3dMark. This is still a very viable tablet and without replacement batteries available, its not a good sign.

Yes I have searched ebay, aliexpress and much much more. I went through 40+ google results and tried to add to cart or inquire regarding this specific battery. As far as I can tell there are none anywhere and no one is making an aftermarket battery. Unless someone is up for the challenge to prove me wrong.

Im still looking for a replacement battery for the Google Pixel C. There seems to be none left in the world.
Has anyone found a place to buy batteries for the Google Pixel C ? Please PM me.
The guys here https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-7-2013/nexus-7-2013-qa/replacement-battery-t3405361 had some interesting ideas about replacement batteries for the nexus 7. Obviously a bit of legwork will be required to get something workable for the C but it shouldn't be insurmountable.
So what are the actual dimensions of the battery components on the pixel c?
Seems available here:
https://www.battery-store.eu/laptopcomputer/1004291.htm
Well, hey, on this battery search, let us know if you find any screens!
From a thread on ifixit..
Regarding replacement batteries, you will find that OEM replacement-anythings are not produced or sold for any devices anymore, since the cost to employ repair technicians is now greater than the cost of producing a new device everywhere in the world. As a consequence, all replacement parts sold are stripped from existing devices. Because of this fact, the longer a device has been out of production, the less likely the possibility that you will find any wear and tear items in as-new condition. For screens, you will increasingly only find replacements that were polished to have scratches removed — along with the Gorilla coating (making them much more likely to collect grime and crack). For the Nexus 9, you will realistically not find a replacement battery with more, or even the same remaining capacity, vs the one you’re replacing. Again, keep in mind: we’re talking probabilities, not absolutes. Your friend may get a good part from a place one day and you won’t, the next day (or vice versa).
[/unquote]
I'm looking at a way to remove the battery totally from the C and power it by an external power bank or the charger. The nexus 7 users came up with a mod to accomplish this to use the device powered by a car. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9N2Bh4fI8Bo. Nexus 9, which has a similar setup to the C(dual batteries) has a thread here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-9/help/nexus-9-battery-mod-t3798212
I plan on doing something similar for the C but won't be able to get it done for a number of months due to circumstances beyond my control. Also, I'm not severely hindered as when my first C battery became swollen, Google sent me a refurbished replacement. Well, actually Google screwed up and sent me two replacements(same tracking number, 2 different packages), and only one of them currently has a swollen battery...
If anyone is desperate, and maybe a bit less electronically challenged than I am, they can have a go at this, otherwise we can wait till later and I'll give it a shot.
