Does Ace 2 support OTG?
I've looked everywhere for info and all I found was some stone age posts. Has anything changed? I have cyanogenmod 10.2 (adapted for Ace 2) which has OTG function, it just doesn't work.... properly. When I plug USB stick, nothing happens. When I plug my gamepad, light turns on, but nothing happens. I have an adapter that was bought for Nexus 3, used for Galaxy S3 and S4 (I saw posts saying that you need specific adapter, so i'm just throwing that info in).
Edit: Also, when i turn OTG function on, phone thinks it's charging. Even when I plug in and out charger itself.
Ty for any info in advance and I won't forget to push that Thanks button.
Nope. No OTG on ACE II.

Could you link me to the project?
Only power works, and that's been possible since D-Kernel I think...
People have said the problem is all in the kernel configuration, no proof on whether that's true
---------
In fact I don't think any released ROM, 2.x or 4.x, even supports dock mode (or maybe that's due to the very poor resistors I used... a CM based rom even stopped accepting USB until the next reboot...)
Cocafe already tried to make OTG working but he failed AFAIK

http://sven.killig.de/android/N1/2.2/usb_host/
The above link is for G1, N1, Desire but should be able to do the same on other phones
just to use USB ?
I saw someone ask Scotty this question on IRC, and he said it should be able to do it for definite. Someone just needs to do the work to make it happen.
It's called USB OTG! And AFAIK, it is going to be tough to get it working on the G2. But then who knows..It seems Scotty can do anything these days
it is possible on desire:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=702742
why is this not possible on vision?
waiting for this function
holy ass, that thing in the link looks awesome
i have an extra sd card, swapped out the one i use for phone, ran universal USB installer and was able to turn my phone into a "pen" driver.
was able to install some DLC to xbox360

Hi all! I would like to buy a USB OTG(on the go) cable for my mobile. I tried with the OTG Cables available in stores. But they ain't working. I found out that our mobile do not support OTG. The male part of cable has one pin extra compared to the original USB cable. So I just wanted to know if we could but it online or from the store. And yes, I live in India ; Mumbai. I had an idea of buying a female to female cable and connecting one side to USB and other with USB cable to phone. Thanks in advance.:thumbup:

i read the same article, the article explained how to use your old charger cable as otg cable or manually creating an otg cable at home.
i checked and verified by opening my own otg cable and found the same circuit as the circuit shown in that image.
i was wondering if the phone is not sending any power to the cable/pen drive.

i believe if one want to short the pins, it can be done at phone's external plug end.
Please help me to start with the otg development.

as it is a kernel's thing as per my research till now.
and i am sorry about your grand may its soul rest in peace.:crying:
It won't arrive for a little bit (1saleaday is slow to ship), so I figure I'll ask some questions in the meantime.
Does it support MHL 2.0? I've seen conflicting info, in that some places don't even mention MHL support. And if it's not 2.0, does it require that specific 11-pin Samsung adapter? Selling my HTC One and not sure if I should just include my current 5-pin adapter with it.
Does it work with the Smart Dock like the regular S4 and whatnot? Assuming it works with MHL 2.0, I don't see why it wouldn't work with the Smart Dock.
What kind of sound hardware does it have? I don't suppose its Wolfson...
Does it support exFAT for microSD? I've seen confirmation that it supports 64GB cards at least.
And any idea if it'll have a wireless charging back like for the S4? Don't know if it even supports wireless charging.
I've tried mhl 1.0 and 2.0. Both don't work. Also tried USB OTG also doesn't work.
I have a 64gb micro sd but I can't remember how it's formatted. But definitely works.

Well crap, I was banking on at least regular MHL - are you sure its not the cable you're using (as in, it requires the Samsung specific 11-pin cable)? If not, then I guess GSMarena is wrong (wouldn't be the first time).
I've tried both a cheap one from ebay and the samsung geniune one which works with my normal Galaxy S4 without using the power cable......both cable works on my normal GS4 but it doesn't work on my MIni GS4....i've also tried with or without the power cable attached and still doesn't work.

I actually wanted to write something like N00by did, but then I decided to write that bull**** If I'd have had more time I'd have even written something that developers are very shy and they refuse to work if a non-dev is around
But seriously, if you come to XDA you have to learn one thing from the beginning - NEVER ASK FOR AN ETA. And when I say never, I mean never. Not in any kind. Even questions like "why does it take so long" are understood as an ETA.
As real answer I'd say that it takes that long because we don't have many developers and a strange platform (that Marvell SoC seems to be pretty strange)

Although you're referring to the SM-T2175, oddly enough my Galaxy Tab 3 SM-T310 (not through Sprint) works perfectly fine with Samsung's "OTG" cable (EPL-AU10WEGXAR). I've even been able to hook it up to a USB hub and connect multiple USB devices to it, specifically a thumb drive. Obviously it's a different model and not quite the same, but just putting it out there in case it helps anyone.
To be sure, my Galaxy Tab 3 specs:
Model:
SM-T310
Android Version:
4.4.2
Kernel Version:
3.0.31-1984358
[email protected] #1
Build Number:
KOT49H.T310UEUCOl1
Yes, using stock ROM lol
Side note: Only thing I haven't been able to get to work yet with it is a WiFi dongle (because I wanted to use a high-range antenna with it)
Can anyone tell me how to get the OTG function to work? I have used OTG cables and adapters with various thumbdrives and hardrives formatted to Fat32 and NTFS but nothing works. I tried it with various trial OTG apps but still nothing.
My previous tablet, Asus Zenpad 3S 10, read anything connected via OTG no problems.
Thank you.
Everything works here. For Ntfs you need paragon app. Fat 32 is natively supported.

Apologies on the late reply.
I have tried the same otg adapter on the Asus Zenpad. It worked fine. I did not use any app for the Asus.

@gabripranzo,
I tried the app (even though it stated that it isn't optimised for the S4) on my thumbdrive and it worked (on trial). I will try again with the 1tb external drive from my office tomorrow. I want to make sure that I can read that as it cost US$10 to get the full version.
Thank you to all of you for your help and suggestions.

Is there really no solution on how to get OTG to work on the Galaxy Tab S4 ?
My OTG works fine on an Xperia Tab Z2.
I would recommend trying a different adapter. I have no issues using OTG on my Tab with a scosche USB-C adapter. Although your adapter may work on the Xperia, it may not be suitable for the Tab. Try another adapter as again, works perfectly on mine.
Tnx - will try with other cable. Have so far tried with 2 different USB-C to USB Micro adapters and the OTG cable without success.
Thought the fail is with the adapters since the cable has worked without problems in other setups like on PC & Laptop.

••• Bought another OTG ~ USB-C to USB-A cable.
Works without a problem.
Now I'm just waiting for Pie with the system-wide Dark mode....
