[Q] Kindle Fire 2 - Red Screen but i dont come further.... - Kindle Fire 2 Q&A, Help and Troubleshooting

Hello XDA Dev Members,
first, please appologise my english if my wording isnt the best.
@topic
I have a Kindle Fire 2 here at my desk.
After i rooted the device i tried to install TWKP to make backups and install new images.
But after that the Kindle doesnt boot anymore and just shows a red screen.
Ive red very much at this forum but im unsure what to do.
First of all i build a Factory Cable with the tutorial
I solded all Cables like in the Pictures.
I press the powerbutton vor 20 Seconds and plug in my Factory Cable but it only shows the red screen instead of the "fastboot mode" screen.
Also I tried the Instruction from "flopower1996" ( i cant link because im a new user ) but it doesnt work for me.
Do i need some special Cable for the Factory Cable or does any usb cable will do it ?
Can you help me further ?
Thanks for your attention

[Q] Fastboot cable where to get in Europe/Germany?

Good morning,
in many threads here I found the recommendation to use a fastboot cable. I have recently rooted my Kindle Fire 2, it works like a charm, but I want to install a "true" Android on it because Amazon changed too many things which are annoying me. It's some kind of an Apple device...
But back to my question. Installing a CustomROM without a fastboot cable seems to be NOT RECOMMENDED (or impossible?)
Therefore: Where in Germany (or Europe) can I get a fastboot cable? Is maybe some kind of other cable known to be compatible?

mine is also from SkOrPn - had it within 4 days - to austria !
You might also try amazon uk http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0099E59SG.
I don't know if they ship to the rest of europe, but it's worth a try.

I got this one. Delivered in 2 days and works perfectly.
I live in The Netherlands and also ordered my factory cable from SkOrPn. Took 9 days to get it here, but I ordered it during the holidays.

The cable that boots the Kindle Fire into fastboot mode is more generally known and advertised as a Motorola factory cable.

The last things I need are more cables, so I bought an adapter instead which converts your Kindle standard cable to a fastboot cable.. It worked perfectly, managed to brick my KF2 on the first attempt! However, it took a week to arrive by post from the USA to Marseille in France, which was very fast. Shipping is a bit steep, though. Take a look:

Michael.
Yep, you only need to jump pin 1 to pin 4 to make a fastboot cord.

It'll take forever to get to you. Better off with a SKORPN cable. His are guaranteed too.

Don't want to sound offensive, but if that post and attached picture isn't clear enough, you might be best just buying a cable. There have been a few instances of people damaging their kindle when they get the soldering wrong.

[Q] Fastboot / Factory Cable available to buy on Amazon..?

Hello everyone,
I am new to the xda forums (Well, new as in I've just registered), but I've followed your tutorials on how to root and install Android on KF2.
Unfortunately for me, and for a whole bunch of other people, this hasn't worked.
I'm stuck at a red screen. Yeah.. Sucks. What's worse? It's my brother's kindle. He wanted me to install android for him. I keep telling him everything is alright, at the moment he's stuck using my Iconia tablet and my PS3. I want to return it to him good as new ASAP.
I want to buy a fastboot / factory cable for my kindle in order to reset it. However, the only places I can seem to find it is eBay / some guys here on the forums.
My family have an account on Amazon.co.uk, and I have some money left over from christmas. I was wondering, that if someone is currently selling Fastboot / factory cables, could you please put it up on Amazon? For example, on this link:
If someone could put it on Amazon uk for the one time, I will be very grateful.
I am only 15, and I need this cable asap. We have a family credit card and so hopefully I can buy it when it is available. I am sure that there is probably a lot of people in the same position as me, and having it available to buy on amazon would help so much.
(I am from UK, so please make it affordable for me (as well as shipping) otherwise I won't be able to buy it..)
Thanks for reading guys, enjoy the rest of your day
I tried contacting Amazon support. They said I could get a free kindle exchange, but I am two weeks out of my warranty. BOO HOO! D:
Try skorpn. Dude is legit and ships international.

MHL question of HTC One (M8)

I just wondering if the MHL adapters of Samsung can be applied to HTC one M8. Dose HTC M8 Support MHL functionality like Samsung Smart Phone? Anyone know about that? Any answer will be appreciated.

The M8 does support MHL, but Samsung uses their own proprietary nonstandard 11-pin version of MHL that is not compatible with standard 5-pin MHL devices from other manufacturers such as HTC and LG. There are, however, many MHL adapters that work on the M7 and would presumably work on the M8. This is the one I use: http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=108&cp_id=10833&cs_id=1083314&p_id=8675&format=2
I ´m with an unlocked M8 which is with the 2.23.118.3 firmware version, which is from T-Mobile Poland. I tried 2 generic MHL adapters and with the HTC Official AC M490 MHL Adapter but it just dosent work. When I connect everything up (no matter the line-up) the phone says it´s in MHL mode and that I can now see a video on the TV but the TV dosent receive any signal. I tried with different HDMI cables and on 2 different TV´s and 1 Projector but still nothing.
Can it be from the firmware version or something? On my old galaxy S3 and S4 it worked flawlessly, including simple mirroring. Can someone using this firmware please confirm that MHL is working?
Thanks in advance
Cheers

Suppliers don't carry Pixel C battery replacements anymore???

Ive been searching everywhere on the net for a battery replacement and nothing has come up. My pixel C screen was lifting so I removed the screen to find the battery corroding and expanding. The battery must be replaced but I think there are none available anymore. This could be the end for the Pixel C and its too bad. These tablets are still ahead of 90% of all tablets tested by 3dMark. This is still a very viable tablet and without replacement batteries available, its not a good sign.

Yes I have searched ebay, aliexpress and much much more. I went through 40+ google results and tried to add to cart or inquire regarding this specific battery. As far as I can tell there are none anywhere and no one is making an aftermarket battery. Unless someone is up for the challenge to prove me wrong.

Im still looking for a replacement battery for the Google Pixel C. There seems to be none left in the world.
Has anyone found a place to buy batteries for the Google Pixel C ? Please PM me.
The guys here https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-7-2013/nexus-7-2013-qa/replacement-battery-t3405361 had some interesting ideas about replacement batteries for the nexus 7. Obviously a bit of legwork will be required to get something workable for the C but it shouldn't be insurmountable.
So what are the actual dimensions of the battery components on the pixel c?
Seems available here:
https://www.battery-store.eu/laptopcomputer/1004291.htm
Well, hey, on this battery search, let us know if you find any screens!
From a thread on ifixit..
Regarding replacement batteries, you will find that OEM replacement-anythings are not produced or sold for any devices anymore, since the cost to employ repair technicians is now greater than the cost of producing a new device everywhere in the world. As a consequence, all replacement parts sold are stripped from existing devices. Because of this fact, the longer a device has been out of production, the less likely the possibility that you will find any wear and tear items in as-new condition. For screens, you will increasingly only find replacements that were polished to have scratches removed — along with the Gorilla coating (making them much more likely to collect grime and crack). For the Nexus 9, you will realistically not find a replacement battery with more, or even the same remaining capacity, vs the one you’re replacing. Again, keep in mind: we’re talking probabilities, not absolutes. Your friend may get a good part from a place one day and you won’t, the next day (or vice versa).
[/unquote]
I'm looking at a way to remove the battery totally from the C and power it by an external power bank or the charger. The nexus 7 users came up with a mod to accomplish this to use the device powered by a car. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9N2Bh4fI8Bo. Nexus 9, which has a similar setup to the C(dual batteries) has a thread here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-9/help/nexus-9-battery-mod-t3798212
I plan on doing something similar for the C but won't be able to get it done for a number of months due to circumstances beyond my control. Also, I'm not severely hindered as when my first C battery became swollen, Google sent me a refurbished replacement. Well, actually Google screwed up and sent me two replacements(same tracking number, 2 different packages), and only one of them currently has a swollen battery...
If anyone is desperate, and maybe a bit less electronically challenged than I am, they can have a go at this, otherwise we can wait till later and I'll give it a shot.
