Hi I want to restore back to three uk firmware run my bootloader has been unlocked from htc dev unlock and I have a custom rom with touch recovery I have downloaded the stock uk three firmware run but not sure what to do next would appreciate some instructions.
1. Restore backup you made before flashing the custom ROM
2. Manually flash the stock boot.img
3. Manually flash the stock recovery
4. Relock bootloader (optional)
did not make backup so is there a plan b?
are you going back to stock to send phone off for repair?
If you are then run a backup of your current ROM from recovery first and copy SD to your PC for safe keeping.
1. Boot into fastboot
2. Flash stock recovery, found here (if you were on 1.26 before flashing custom rom then flash the 1.26 recovery, and 1.28 > 1.28): http://www.androidrevolution.nl/ARHD/index.php?dir=OneX/Recovery/
3. Relock bootloader: fastboot oem lock
4. Run RUU (phone needs to be in fastboot, and correct drivers installed onto PC for RUU to detect phone).
Edit: If you were on 1.28 before custom flashing then make sure you have the 1.28 RUU
Info found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1609190
thats the thing i dont know what it was on 128 or 126 i tried to flash the 126 ruu and it failed so i presume its going to be the 128 ruu file so does it mean i have to flash the 128 stock recovery aswell or does it not matter.
If the 3 UK 1.28 RUU is available then you just flash that as the recovery comes with it. Remember you HAVE to relock the bootloader to run an RUU
Well i ran the 126 ruu and it failed it said something like get the correct bootloader after i did all the steps flashed stock recovery and relocked bootloader.

Have a look at your hboot version, if it is 43 then you probably have the 1.26 stock, if it is 94 then it should be the 1.28. I have the 1.28 3 RUU here, will see if I can find the download link for you.
Edit: Here is the post to the download link
my hboot reads 0.94.0000 so downloading 128 ruu thanks for the link so what stock recovery do i flash 26 or 28? i dont know what i had before.

you will need to flash the 1.28 recovery. unlock your bootloader first, then flash recovery, then relock again. you can use the same unlock.bin file that you got off HTCDEV to unlock the bootloader.
yep i already unlocked the bootloader just waiting for the download to finish and will post my results soon thanks for the help.
Thank you i can confirm this worked 100%
You're welcome
Hi,getting back to stock is not really my department. So just to make sure
1. Install nandroid backup of stock rom - done
2. That means that since my boot.img is stock as well as the rom itself is stock, that i only need recovery?
3. fastboot flash recovery recovery.img - i'm on 1.29.169.13 rom, can i use any 1.29 IMG? http://www.androidrevolution.nl/ARHD/index.php?dir=OneX/Recovery/ ?
4. I have to relock my phone, right?
fastboot oem lock
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot erase cache
no need of any ruu, reboot, install OTA, done?
note that there is no RUU available for my phone except for the 1.26.169.13, which is 2 updates older than mine.
You will need to install the boot.img from your backup using fastboot.

Hey guys,
I have an HTC__044 device which is unlocked and running a custom ROM with a custom boot.img. I am wanting to restore the phone to stock ROM so I can download the JellyBean OTA.
I've seen the procedure for returning to stock RUU, but I am not sure on the procedure for when you have a full Nandroid backup of your stock ROM.
Could someone please clarify?
I understand it to be as follows:
1. Boot in to recovery and restore Nandroid backup of original ROM
2. Flash stock boot.img extracted from RUU via fastboot (or boot.img from backup directory on SD card)
3. Flash stock recovery via fastboot (or recovery.img from backup directory on SD card)
4. relock bootloader via fastboot
5. Reboot phone and stock ROM will be recovered
6. Download and install OTA.
Have I missed anything? Do you really need to flash back to stock recovery? I don't really see the point of doing that?
Thanks

U can try to relocked your bootloader and flashed the RUU for your device to return back to stock and waiting for JB updates.

Yeah, looks good to me.
You don't need to relock it if you're just going to apply the OTA.
To apply OTA, you need stock recovery.
Oh really? Cool!!
So I can just recover the NANDROID backup, and flash the boot.img then check it boots. then flash the stock recovery and download the OTA without re-locking?
I thought you had to lock the bootloader to get OTA updates as unlocked bootloader sets the CID to none, so no OTAs are detected, no?

I've never tried it, but as far as I know, you don't need to lock it, updates are based on IMEI, not CID, and although CID can show as all 1s in some places, fastboot oem readcid should return the correct one.
However it takes about 5 seconds to lock it and just a few more to unlock it, so... Your choice.
If you have the Stock RUU your device shipped with, just go in fastboot, connect to pc and run the RUU.exe.
If not, the steps in first post looks like a good route to flash back to your original ROM.
In my case it was shorter:
1. Restore nandroid backup (of the original ROM, did after root).
2. Fastboot oem lock
3. Run RUU
That's all.
You can try this too.
Regards.

Before you do anything, the best thing to do is to check again what is the actual software version no.
Go to fastboot and type below command
fastboot getvar version-main
Tell us the no. written there
Then we talk about getting your ROM back to stock

When reading your thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2055377 I'm a little bit puzzled on why do you want to revert to stock as your device is already on JellyBean and there is no further OTA at the moment.
Here are three scenario that you may need to choose.
1) You just want to revert to stock ROM but you still need to root it.
a. Flash the stock boot.img attached here (That's the stock boot.img for 3.14.707.24)
b. Restore your nandroid backup
c. Reboot.. you are done .. you will have stock ROM but still on custom recovery in case you still need to play around like rooting the stock ROM or whatever you want to do.
2) You want to revert to stock ROM with everything complete stock with your nandroid backup.
a. Flash the attached stock boot.img
b. Restore your nandroid backup
c. Reboot to bootloader again
d. Flash the attached stock recovery.img (That's the stock recovery.img for 3.14.707.24)
e. Relock your bootloader with command "fastboot oem lock"
f. Reboot your device.. you are done.
3) You want to revert to stock with a RUU.
a) Download RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_JB_45_S_hTC_Asia_WWE_3.14.707.24_Radio_5.1204.162.29_release_296434_signed.exe from various site that you can it this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1543604 or you can download from where that I uploaded one : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34971176&postcount=2487
b) Put your device in fastboot mode and relock your bootloader with command "fastboot oem lock"
c) In fastboot mode too, run the RUU and follow the updater instruction - next- next-update-blablabla until it finish
d) Complete the setup wizard, you are done.

You have to flash the stock recovery.....the nandroid is taken with a custom recovery so the stock recovery is not included in the nandroid .... therefore you need the stock one

Help please urgently needed.
I need a stock backup of JB on telecom nz. CID TELNZ001. with s on
or a firmware.zip with JB and hboot included.
Reason: MAINVER IS HIGHER THAN ANY MAINVER THAT EXISTS IN THE WORLD.
it was updated in the androidinfo.txt.... so it permently updated the mainver. unable to roll back to stock ICS as mainver is newer.
and there is no RUU for JB on telnz001.
even if there was a RUU, it would result in an error as mainver is newer than ANY JB firmware in the world 3.76.xx.
many attempts of trying firmware.zip, rom.zip ruu, flashing through fastboot, ruu mode etc all do not work.
i can restore to stock ICS software by changing androidinfo.txt to match my mainver..... but with OTA updates it results in constant rebooting or rebooting into fastboot as mainver is newer than OTA update.
and yes when i tried all this i relocked bootloader, reflashed stock boot and recovery, tried many different boot.img, recovery.img files. nothing seems to work
and 9/10 times a zip is ALWAYS corrupt.
IF ANYONE HAS JB TELNZ001 nandroid or firmware.zip could they please upload, also needed hboot so JB works thanks
You need a ICS nandroid backup or a lower version than that. Your bootloader says 1.12 hboot, that's not a JB hboot.

No i dont, i need a JB firmware.zip / rom.zip or a nandroid backup, i have hboot1.39 for telnz001 which i can flash IF i get the nandroid backup.
IF i put ICS on it WILL crash on OTA updates, it reaches the 2.17 update and CRASHES it boots and reaches the ring lock screen and restarts, i have tried this dozens of times, with my own ics backup, other ics backups, extracting the rom from telecom nz ruu (ics) and everytime it crashes after the OTA.
By flashing hboot 1.39 for my own carrier i will be able to use JB TELNZ001 this is why i am asking for it, as a last resort i created a username and password specifically for this question as i have been trying to revert back to stock ( and have it FULLY UPDATE WITHOUT FAIL ) to JB and have not been able to as it fails,
after doing this i have updated kernals and other img files, and have not been able to get it to fully boot after the OTA update.
You say you have the firmware for the 1.39 hboot, yet you ask for a JB nandroid and a JB firmware. I read it very clear in your OP
No i have the hboot 1.39 FILE, NOT THE FIRMWARE, the firmware i said i had was ICS stock, which when i update it FAILS ALL the time. i made that clear, if i had the firmware for JB i wouldnt be asking for nandroid backup... all i am asking for is the nandroid backup of jb telnz001 as all i have is the ICS nandroid, ruu , firmware.zip and rom.zip, which all of the above when installed refuse to flash properly or boot, its not even the JB update it crashes on, its the update just before the JB update. However i did say i have the JB firmware OTA zip, which is USELESS as it CANNOT be flashed
Edit : nevermind !
I wish you al the best and good luck to find a nandroid.
Mr Hofs said:
Then you might have used the wrong words. The file to update the hboot to 1.39 is the firmware. And the firmware you speak of as ics stock is the nandroid backup ics !

So do i , i obtained the hboot 1.39 from an OTA JB zip file, whch in a way i supose is firmware. but there is no way to install the zip file onto ics. or is there? its not flashable and contains recovery.img hboot 1.39 boot.img and a system folder and a few other things, if the folders were img files i would just flash these and wouldnt have a problem.
i guarantee if i can obtain a nandroid backup of JB it will work, i have been susessfull on another htc one with a very similar problem, but the problem is i cant use their nandroid they are no longer in the same town , so i am unable to use it untill one is available to download

Paste the firmware.zip in your fastboot folder.
THen
1. fastboot oem lock
2. fastboot oem rebootRUU
3.fastboot flash zip firmware,zip
The hboot is upgraded. But you cant boot up cause tou are locked.
Again unlock with fastboot and your unlock_tocken.bin
A standalone firmare.zip is flashable. But i don't know if it can be extracted directly from the ota. Search in the collection of firmare updates. Maybe there is news about that
The firmare can be flashed with
Fastboot oem rebootRUU
Fastboot flash zip firmare.zip
These commands and the right firmware will update the hboot to 1.39.
The only question is if you can flash the firmware.zip without it needing to be modified or not ?
i can flash a modified or unmodified firmware.zip easly with adb / fastboot with phone in RUU mode, the only problem is the contents in the OTA update are folders so its not flashable, i zip boot.img hboot file recovery.img and system.img and androidinfo.txt name it firmware.zip and flash it... the problem is i can not find the system img which has JB contents, as the zip contains apks, folders and files and its not flashable lol. hence why im asking for someone to upload nandroid backup , or a firmware.zip containing JB as i can put my TELNZ001 hboot file in the zip and susessfully flash JB onto my hox
Maybe you can ask here too about a firmware ?

contained in the ota update is many files folders and img, except system img its just a dir folder, there is a firmware.zip but its corrupt. actually almost every zip i extract from or download (flashable ones) are ALWAYS corrupt, and i have noticed MANY peol;e have this issue.
also if i put ics on and ota it boot loops regardless of weather im locked or unlocked, regardless of boot img, recovery or even flashing kernal no matter what still boot loops
I think the firmware.zip is encrypted and not corrupt.....

thanks dude, i asked there and they updated the link.. but its still 1.29 (ics)
i have a file named
OTA_ENDEAVOR_U_JB_45_S_Telecom_NZ_WWE_3.17.781.2-2.17.781.3_release_304681lsq8o9k2p8n4minf.zip
it contains firmware.zip with hboot.139 in it, i cant flash as it comes back unknown error 99
regardless of locked or unlocked bootloader.
i tried extracting files, and editing androidinfo.txt to match my mainver, but still comes back with an error.
is there any other way to flash the hboot? i have the img itself, and still have the original ota update zip but its not flashable
OK so i can only run one rom.
stock ics
any other rom will not boot, even after flashing boot.img i really just want to get this phone working

Hi guys.
Finally today I receive the OTA upgrade to JB. First an smal upgrade was succesfully downloaded and installed, and then the firmware to upgrade the phone to JB (I had 4.03 custom rom).
After the phone install the JB upgrade the phone stuck on the HTC ONE white screen
I had a backup on the SD that let me recover the phone, I try to install the upgrade again, with the same luck. I read a post that said that erasing the SD will resolve the issue, and I have no better idea than do it!!! (yeah... really!!)
I read several post all day on XDA, I try to flash again the boot and ROM with the upgrade that I save on my PC, and with a Backup via
fastboot. But nothing work (I dont know if I did it right). I cant see the SD on fastboot, already try a factory reset, when I go to the recovery option on fastboot the phone just rebooted with no options.

My CID is BSTAR301, I only have the backup files that I copy to my pc and the OTA upgrade that the phone download. I attach the images of the files that I have.
Could you please tell me how to restore it to complete stock with the commands? which files should I use?

I assume that you first installed CWM or TWRP recovery to root your HOX, and if you make backup of your recovery this is CWM or TWRP recovery.img, not stock recovery.img that is came with phone because you reflashed original one with TWRP or CWM and official ROM need official recovery.img. I hope that you make nandroid backup before root with TWRP or CWM because is it "must to do" in every installation guide. If so, when you wanted to update via OTA for official JB you needed to:
1. reverse to stock software (for you, you needed only to unroot or use nandroid backup if you have yours, if not try to find one in xda one x forum matching your current CID and main-version)
2. reverse to stock recovery.img that is matching your CID (exact matching) (you need to find it on xda one x forum section) - i see that you have firmware folder but dont know is it from your backup or from OTA, if it is from OTA than you can use recovery.img from that folder to flash stock recovery.img via fastboot commands (only recovery.img)
3. then you can do official JB update via OTA
And then if you have need to custom ROM you need flash again CWM or TWRP recovery.img
Also you can get full stock with RUU but RUU must fully match your CID and main version, but RUU isn't available for every phone version, and after RUU you can do officall OTA JB update (for RUU you need to lock bootloader)
Information that can help us is yours phone current main version (fastboot getvar version-main)

Thanks for your help! I got the an RUU, after that I sent my backup to SD and now I have 4.0.4.
Now my phone show me a message to install the OTA to 4.1.1, but when I select install the phone make a reboot and show me CWM recovery with the message:
Finding update package...
E:unknown volume for path [INTERNALSDCARDownload/OTA_ENDEAVOR_U_JB_S_BSTR_ESN_3.14.515.36-2.17.515.1....
E:Can't mount INTERNALSDCARD...
Installation aborted.
Why the phone can't mount the SD?
You need a stock recovery. Do :
Fastboot getvar version-main
And post the outcome !
Edit :
4.0.4 software....you need this recovery and then install the ota again

This is the result:
C:\CustomRUU>Fastboot getvar version-main
version-main: 3.14.515.36
So... I just need to install the recovery that you send me, reboot and try to install the OTA?
