Hi I want to restore back to three uk firmware run my bootloader has been unlocked from htc dev unlock and I have a custom rom with touch recovery I have downloaded the stock uk three firmware run but not sure what to do next would appreciate some instructions.
1. Restore backup you made before flashing the custom ROM
2. Manually flash the stock boot.img
3. Manually flash the stock recovery
4. Relock bootloader (optional)
did not make backup so is there a plan b?
are you going back to stock to send phone off for repair?
If you are then run a backup of your current ROM from recovery first and copy SD to your PC for safe keeping.
1. Boot into fastboot
2. Flash stock recovery, found here (if you were on 1.26 before flashing custom rom then flash the 1.26 recovery, and 1.28 > 1.28): http://www.androidrevolution.nl/ARHD/index.php?dir=OneX/Recovery/
3. Relock bootloader: fastboot oem lock
4. Run RUU (phone needs to be in fastboot, and correct drivers installed onto PC for RUU to detect phone).
Edit: If you were on 1.28 before custom flashing then make sure you have the 1.28 RUU
Info found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1609190
thats the thing i dont know what it was on 128 or 126 i tried to flash the 126 ruu and it failed so i presume its going to be the 128 ruu file so does it mean i have to flash the 128 stock recovery aswell or does it not matter.
If the 3 UK 1.28 RUU is available then you just flash that as the recovery comes with it. Remember you HAVE to relock the bootloader to run an RUU
Well i ran the 126 ruu and it failed it said something like get the correct bootloader after i did all the steps flashed stock recovery and relocked bootloader.

Have a look at your hboot version, if it is 43 then you probably have the 1.26 stock, if it is 94 then it should be the 1.28. I have the 1.28 3 RUU here, will see if I can find the download link for you.
Edit: Here is the post to the download link
my hboot reads 0.94.0000 so downloading 128 ruu thanks for the link so what stock recovery do i flash 26 or 28? i dont know what i had before.

you will need to flash the 1.28 recovery. unlock your bootloader first, then flash recovery, then relock again. you can use the same unlock.bin file that you got off HTCDEV to unlock the bootloader.
yep i already unlocked the bootloader just waiting for the download to finish and will post my results soon thanks for the help.
Thank you i can confirm this worked 100%
You're welcome

i tried to relock the bootloader just now but it keeps on rebooting to hboot so i just unlock again and it booted fine albeit being factory reset.
so the question is, after i fastboot oem lock , what should i do to reboot it normally instead of reboot to hboot?
do i need to download RUU exe file and execute it?
i also re flash original recovery since i don't feel like using custom ROM for the time being, i just want to wait for official OTA.
If you want to go back totally stock, then yes just run the RUU again.
M.
It will not boot if you have custom rom installed and oem locked. Hence it keeps rebooting into bootloader with a some warning on the top.
Unlock it again to resume the boot and lose all the settings or run a ruu as suggested before me.

beware if you have a 1.28 based rom (or updated OTA) i dont think a 1.26 based RUU will work. I didnt for me, i had to flash CWM recovery again and a .zip with 1.28.
so we need a new RUU to get back to stock if we have updated hboot.

Hi,
i have S-ON, bootloader unlocked, root, 2.13.401.3
after this update 2.26.401.3 stay still bootloader unlocked?
EDIT: maybe i need S-OFF, not possibly update my mobile...
you need to relock the bl in order to install any ruu.
i had a hard time updating my phone to 2.26
if you take a look at the first thread for this update, the ota update, there are details for how to update to this version and still keep bl-nlocked and easily root

Can anyone send me this file not via filefactory? There are no free slots in there at all
I relock bl and try new RUU 2.26, but problem with flashing. Can you pls describe steps by steps how can is possibly update from 2.13 to 2.26 ? I'm S-ON

try the process in this thread, if you can't get it to work straight away, try using the method i used (thanks to rezo).
1 - install the ruu for 2.14.401.1
(http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?o6ox43q3taa33iu)
1.5 - if you can't do this because you already have the rom from 2.26 (but old radio etc), follow this tutorial so that you can go back to ruu 2.14.401.1
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1540952&highlight=downgrade
2 - use htcdev process (without ruu step) to unlock bootloader
3 - install cwm recovery by flashing this file (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?1rdxmtpx26201or) via "fastboot flash recovery recovery(custom).img"
4 - put update.zip (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?vycb7415nn9boct) on the root of your sd card and install from cwm recovery.
4.5 - if the update doesn't work (i.e. if you still get "triangle !" logo flash this file (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?bqni648c46r5e44) via cwm and choose the option "supervision", then try the update again.
5 - after installation and first boot (take a while) boot back to cwm and flash this root.zip (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?dumbffr3n8igau4)
you should now have the latest stock rom, latest hboot, latest radio, and be root.
What's different in this new update 2.26. ?
Hi guys
I'm trying to download this new ruu for 2 days now from "filefactory" an still: "no free slots"! Ca anyone help me to download this new ruu from other sites?
Thank's in advance!
my current software version is 2.14.401.2, what is the difference if i update to 2.26.401.3? Does it gives any improvement on the performance or battery life?
Thx...

what is the error code?
things to remember when you flash an ruu :-
you should not have modified system files (except for root)
you should have stock recovery to start with
you may need to create gold card
you should be relocked bootoader
if you are already on a software number which is higher than the ruu you are trying to install, you may need to downgrade first, using the guide posted above.
Is there anyway without S-OFF to update the radio? I would rather not loose any data too. I've manage to update everything but the radio.

if you're s-off already, can't you just flash the radio.img?
don't quote me on that, i'm not s-off myself, so i'm not reallu 'up' on all the thigns you can do and how you do them. but i was under the impression that with s-off you can flash it same as you flash recovery.img or system.img?
Do I need to flash radio? Because my girlfriends WFS has been t-mobile branded so I think I'm not able to flash RUU without gold crad?
Is it possible to flash system.img and boot.img only? Or will there be conflicts with radio/ramdisk etc...
BL is unlocked and device is rooted atm!
I installed this RUU to my Wildfire S by this tutorial
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1540952
My phone had unlocked bootloader (via htcdev.com), Root, S-On and my Hboot version was 1.09.0099. When I was trying to install RUU I got ERROR 140(bad hboot version). So I used mentioned tutorial to downgrade hboot and then I install new RUU.
I downloaded RUU 2.26.401.3 from this site because on Football's FileFactory link are allways full slots.
Code:
http://narod.ru/disk/51502291001.c558c29e878e383684edd1a956d417fd/RUU_Marvel_S_HTC_Europe_2.26.401.3_Radio_47.23e.35.3038H_7.57.39.10M_release_261695_signed.exe.html
And there is a ZIP version if someone want
Code:
http://narod.ru/disk/51500892001.cf33d25826e44363856289cb11302527/PG76IMG%20-%20Marvel_S_HTC_Europe_2.26.401.3_Radio_47.23e.35.3038H_7.57.39.10M.zip.html
Sorry for poor english.
Can anyone please upload the RUU to another server?
FileFactory is always overloaded. And the russian site is too slow to download from America. 3kbps gg.
Any issues unlocking BL and rooting this update? Any compelling reason to stay with 2.13.401.2/3?

Hey guys,
I have an HTC__044 device which is unlocked and running a custom ROM with a custom boot.img. I am wanting to restore the phone to stock ROM so I can download the JellyBean OTA.
I've seen the procedure for returning to stock RUU, but I am not sure on the procedure for when you have a full Nandroid backup of your stock ROM.
Could someone please clarify?
I understand it to be as follows:
1. Boot in to recovery and restore Nandroid backup of original ROM
2. Flash stock boot.img extracted from RUU via fastboot (or boot.img from backup directory on SD card)
3. Flash stock recovery via fastboot (or recovery.img from backup directory on SD card)
4. relock bootloader via fastboot
5. Reboot phone and stock ROM will be recovered
6. Download and install OTA.
Have I missed anything? Do you really need to flash back to stock recovery? I don't really see the point of doing that?
Thanks

Yeah, looks good to me.
You don't need to relock it if you're just going to apply the OTA.
To apply OTA, you need stock recovery.
Oh really? Cool!!
So I can just recover the NANDROID backup, and flash the boot.img then check it boots. then flash the stock recovery and download the OTA without re-locking?
I thought you had to lock the bootloader to get OTA updates as unlocked bootloader sets the CID to none, so no OTAs are detected, no?

I've never tried it, but as far as I know, you don't need to lock it, updates are based on IMEI, not CID, and although CID can show as all 1s in some places, fastboot oem readcid should return the correct one.
However it takes about 5 seconds to lock it and just a few more to unlock it, so... Your choice.
If you have the Stock RUU your device shipped with, just go in fastboot, connect to pc and run the RUU.exe.
If not, the steps in first post looks like a good route to flash back to your original ROM.
In my case it was shorter:
1. Restore nandroid backup (of the original ROM, did after root).
2. Fastboot oem lock
3. Run RUU
That's all.
You can try this too.
Regards.

When reading your thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2055377 I'm a little bit puzzled on why do you want to revert to stock as your device is already on JellyBean and there is no further OTA at the moment.
Here are three scenario that you may need to choose.
1) You just want to revert to stock ROM but you still need to root it.
a. Flash the stock boot.img attached here (That's the stock boot.img for 3.14.707.24)
b. Restore your nandroid backup
c. Reboot.. you are done .. you will have stock ROM but still on custom recovery in case you still need to play around like rooting the stock ROM or whatever you want to do.
2) You want to revert to stock ROM with everything complete stock with your nandroid backup.
a. Flash the attached stock boot.img
b. Restore your nandroid backup
c. Reboot to bootloader again
d. Flash the attached stock recovery.img (That's the stock recovery.img for 3.14.707.24)
e. Relock your bootloader with command "fastboot oem lock"
f. Reboot your device.. you are done.
3) You want to revert to stock with a RUU.
a) Download RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_JB_45_S_hTC_Asia_WWE_3.14.707.24_Radio_5.1204.162.29_release_296434_signed.exe from various site that you can it this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1543604 or you can download from where that I uploaded one : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34971176&postcount=2487
b) Put your device in fastboot mode and relock your bootloader with command "fastboot oem lock"
c) In fastboot mode too, run the RUU and follow the updater instruction - next- next-update-blablabla until it finish
d) Complete the setup wizard, you are done.

and the backup i had already is restored and the boot.img flashed so there is only one thing left is to lock the oem and then the updates will be installed am i right pls help cuz i want to stick to the stock rom and get updates now.
To be able to update official HTC updates you need
1. stock rom - you did that
2. flash boot.img - you did
3. flash stock recovery.img - you didnt do that, you still have CWM
You dont need to relock bootloader
Stock recovery.img you can find here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957376 in firmware, but be aware that you need matching CID

Just fyi, but I'm pretty sure you can flash RUU in RUU mode with bootloader unlocked.
Phone works fine without recovery, but you can't take an ota, flash roms (custom recovery) or wipe data/cache.
I'd unlock again, and flash either stock recovery, run the RUU again, or flash TWRP 3.0.2-2. Why were you using such an old version in the first place? That's likely the cause of your issue in getting the phone to boot to TWRP.

I'd unlock again, and flash either stock recovery, run the RUU again, or flash TWRP 3.0.2-2. Why were you using such an old version in the first place? That's likely the cause of your issue in getting the phone to boot to TWRP.

With s-on you need to relock the bootloader to use official signed ruu files. When he flashed the ruu he could be seeing the exclamation mark that is normal as a warning before entering the stock recovery for which you need to push a volume and power button combo (don't know them heads up)
A possibility is to clear the cache and try to enter again (as this was a thingy on older HTC devices) or indeed as suggested at least to use the latest twrp available

It doesn't get as far as red exclamation mark, that's what I was waiting for. I'll try the newer version of twrp tomorrow after I've unlocked bootloader again. Do you think the same unlock code will work again?

Yes i think it does work again. But that's a try and find out. There is always the possibility i could be wrong.
Edit :
This is why i love s-off....no more relocking / unlocking the BL with also an increased chance of bricks. The BL isn't made to be relocked and unlocked over and over.

Sorry, but I believe this is misinformation, possibly residual to older HTC devices. I've heard this going back to the M7.
You need to be s-off to flash in download mode, but s-on can flash signed firmware and ruu's in RUU mode. I'm s-off so I can't test at the moment, but I'm about 99% that my information is correct.
S-on, you can only flash same or newer, though. You can't flash older firmware.

I'm 100% that you can flash signed firmware package in ruu mode with bootloader unlocked and s-on.

That's new to me. Hopefully it isn't just tied to the developers edition then.
Thanks for the information

I'll bare that in mind, will unlock tomorrow again and try newer twrp. Only reason I relocked was to run ruu to get phone running again.

Where can I find 3.0.2.2, can only see 3.0.2.0 on twrp site?
Cheers
Edit.... Found it. ?
@jollywhitefoot
I've got stock recovery back on phone. Can you think of any reason, other than old version, as to why twrp wouldn't boot after flashing it ?
Will try again tomorrow.

I'm not exactly sure, but up until 3.0.2.2 Captain Throwback didn't even have the device and was working blind. I know he was trying different things to make it compatible with different variants, too, so in my mind that was a test build. I'm not sure why they have it on the downloads page. For me, I always download it from the download section of the twrp thread.
