If you are on a stock rom may be you'll feel that the brightness is bit low. But on custom rom the same is not so.
If you have a matte screen protection you may experience the low brightness but not otherwise.

I have this phone from my brother, he used it about 1 year. It's my first Android phone.
All i know is, the phone have root / kernel AK 225 SKL /
How do i find if the rom is stock or modified ?
Thank you
LE : i read this, on xda forum :
" The screen seems to be limited in brightness from the factory, as a matter of settings. Using AOKP Rom and increasing the color multipliers makes the screen much, much brighter, but i've read speculation that it could cause the screen to burn-in images much faster, which logically speaking, seems to make sense. Maybe it's limited by Samsung for that reason. This particular panel seems slightly more prone to image retention than the one on my Droid Charge, granted it isn't the same as burn-in, but maybe an indicator of inclination toward it "
Should i try, maybe, AOKP Rom ?

Yes. but make sure that you know what you are doing. Follow the instructions of rooting, flashing custom recovery, so that you don't get stuck anywhere.

What's the difference between Rom and kernel ? How do i find out which Rom i have now ?

Turn off the phone:
Press Volume up + Volume down simultaneously. While you hold both press the power button.
The screen will show the details where you may check whether the bootloader is locked or unlocked.

Overall, it runs splendidly. I'm having issues with link2sd, but i'll get it sorted in a jiffy.
Nice work and it's already pretty stable now.
But what about a2sd? And I've got some problems with teminal emulator. Cannot grant su access to this app. Wierd
I found something else...When I plug in my headphones, they are recognized by the phone but when I play music its played by the loudspeakers and not the headphones... It's really annoying!!!
hej what internal file system is this rom build for? If its ext4 im ready to give it a try I hope the build is based on the cm 9 b3 its more stable and less buggy than version b2.

Right, so I've been playing around with it for a while now and i couldnt find that many bugs.
Camera - Known issue
Battery drain - Isn't that horrible. Yes, it gobbles up the battery, but its still better than some mobiles. Still light years ahead of San Fransisco and Xperia X10.
Home button doesn't work. - The mobile wakes up when pressed. But it does nothing in the browser, settings menu and so on.
No WIFI notification logo. - Not vital, just slightly annoying.
Link2SD gives error. - But completes actions regardless and works fine.
MIUI Clock distorted and cropped - Probably due to the DPI alteration. Original DPI setting would be appreciated.
No notification bar power bar - Might not be relevant since i have yet seen a MIUI rom with that particular power bar.

Ta, mate. Great work otherwise.
Correction. Link2SD gives a false positive. EXT partition is unmountable but Link2SD still gives "Appname linked to SD card" notification. It reverts to native app2sd instead.
I went to settings and left my phone on, and when i came back it was frozen. When i held my finger on the screen i got a lil vib as a respond.
edit: didnt get passes the lockscreen this time xD
I recently acquired a galaxy nexus. It has a slight purple tint at like under 15%, and a huge one at exactly 0%. Is there a way to adjust the colors so I can get rid of/minimize the effect. Also is there a rom that looks exactly like the stock or something. I am pretty nooby at this. What is the best kernel?
Most kernels allow you to change your color settings, but I suggest you try Franco's App in the Play Store and download either his stable or exp version of his kernel, and then adjust settings in the "color control" settings area.
All of our kernels will allow you to change the color settings and most of them have apps. All of the roms look like stock as well except paranoid android and slim ICS. Kernels are good and bad for everyone and what works for one person will not always work for another. You should try them out to see how your phone responds to them.

Yes, you will have to make a backup.
Then just download the kernel and flash it via ClockworkMod Recovery.
Also, the kernel control apps do cost a small bit.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Is the purple thing fixable via color control? Because at about 15% most purple goes away but if you look at gray under the notification center there's still purple.
Purple tint may be fixable with color control.
You'll have to play with the values, but I'm sure you can get a set-up that suits you.
Secondly, use my sig to get you up to speed on installing all of this if need-be.
Do I flash rom before kernel? Or vice versa?
Rom then Kernel yes.
Download AOKP. I know they have a working color control built in.
Or if you done want to change roms. Download the Franco.Kernel updater app.
It has a wonderful color control that I use all day depending on lighting.
What's the difference between Franco color control and AOKP color control?

They are the same really. But the app has a better layout and it works on ALL roms.
Also if u change the kernel on AOKP it won't work anymore.

YES.

Hey Guys!
I have a Galaxy Nexus running Stock Jelly Bean JRO03C. Not Rooted, not Unlocked.
So now I want to install a custom Rom and Kernel to get more out of my phone. I came from moto Defy and saw the possibilities of Custom Roms.
My Questions are now, which of the many Custom Roms?!
I want a stable one, where everything is working and I want the battery life like in Stock JB+Stock Kernel or even better, if possible.
My Phone has to be smooth like stock JB.
Is it even necessary to flash a custom Kernel? (I don't really know, what it does )
So can you guys recommend me any good, smooth and stable custom roms? (Only thing I really would appreciate are power toggles in Notification bar like in Cyanogenmod)
could you please post a link to rom and kernel?
Kind regards!
CM10 + Franco/Trinity
The tons of locked ROM/kernel posts didn't give you a clue not to post this?
Every phone reacts differently to ROMs/kernels. Every person uses their phone slightly differently, which gives different results depending on ROM/kernel. The only proper answer is "try them yourself and see which works best".
Also, think of the pandas!

awh yeah, i'm sorry for asking. Thought I'd get help here.
You really want stable rom? Stock. No doubt about it. You only flash custom ROM if your want more customization. Battery life can't be better than stock unless you underclock or undervolt.
Also there is no best ROM and kernel. It's what you like the best and the one that suits you the most. Please keep that in your mind.
If you only want custom ROM for notification toggles, seriously check out apps like power toggles. Works and works well
It isn't necessarily to flash custom kernel, but it'll give you ability to overclock and stuff. That's what it's all about

There are only three things I miss in Stock, coming from Cyanogenmod 10-Defy. The T9-Dialer, the toggles in Notification bar und the Battery Symbol in percent.
The apps for the toggles and battery percent annoy me, because they use the top left space of notification bar and don't fit to the design of JB in my opinion

Hi,
I have Xperia S from O2, locked Bootloader. My phone is fast and smooth running. Battery life drains 10% in 8 hours of turned off, and about 20-30% turned on for 45 mins.
ROM - XTXperience_7 (installed Start of Jan)
Android Version 4.0.4
Baseband - 8660-AAABQQLYM-314010-28
Kernel - 3.0.8+1.0.21100-30145-01956-g43358ca

It all depends on what your preferences are, I would suggest trying a few different roms (like cm10, aosp, paranoidandroid etc) and see what you like best
but make a backup of your current setup 1st so you can revert to it easily

I live in austria and i bought a white galaxy s4 without contract and now iam not sure which rom to flash ^^ i will wait with rooting and flashing until the google edition s4 is out and custom roms of this version have been made( i think it will really fasten up the process for the hackers am I right? )
2 more questions :
1: Can i somehow extract the camera app from touchwiz and take it over to cyanogenmod and or any other ROM?
2: Even if i turn off automatic brightness control and disable color corretion and everything else in the settings the phone still throttles down the brightness on bright pictures and for example if iam using the browser..... It is noticeable the most when you open a white page and then pull your notifications down and then back up the screen goes from bright to not bright which is very annoying!!!!
do you think a custom rom or even a custom kernel can fix this problem (edit: my phone does´nt do it now but that might be because im at 85% battery, will keep an eye on that)

If your model is the 9505 you can flash any ROM you wish as long as it isn't from the 9500 section and that you use a kernel for your specific device.
Camera app is dependent on TouchWiz framework, so no; it can't be extracted and used on AOSP/CM/etc.
About your automatic brightness; it may be have something to do with Settings->My Device->Display->Screen Mode. Adapt display, if I understand the concept, will automatically change color profiles depending on what you are viewing which could be what you are perceiving as brightness adjustments.

Flash The Omega Rom from the i9505 Section or Darthstalker from the T-Mobile Rom.
I would suggest against any Cm 10.1, AOKP and or PA. They are still VERY BUGGY for daily use, with updates every week. Not sure if you want to use that type of Rom for daily Use. .Your Call.
