I recently acquired a galaxy nexus. It has a slight purple tint at like under 15%, and a huge one at exactly 0%. Is there a way to adjust the colors so I can get rid of/minimize the effect. Also is there a rom that looks exactly like the stock or something. I am pretty nooby at this. What is the best kernel?
Most kernels allow you to change your color settings, but I suggest you try Franco's App in the Play Store and download either his stable or exp version of his kernel, and then adjust settings in the "color control" settings area.
All of our kernels will allow you to change the color settings and most of them have apps. All of the roms look like stock as well except paranoid android and slim ICS. Kernels are good and bad for everyone and what works for one person will not always work for another. You should try them out to see how your phone responds to them.

Do I have to make a back up? And how would I go about doing that?

Yes, you will have to make a backup.
Then just download the kernel and flash it via ClockworkMod Recovery.
Also, the kernel control apps do cost a small bit.

Is the purple thing fixable via color control? Because at about 15% most purple goes away but if you look at gray under the notification center there's still purple.
Purple tint may be fixable with color control.
You'll have to play with the values, but I'm sure you can get a set-up that suits you.
Secondly, use my sig to get you up to speed on installing all of this if need-be.
Do I flash rom before kernel? Or vice versa?
Rom then Kernel yes.
Download AOKP. I know they have a working color control built in.
Or if you done want to change roms. Download the Franco.Kernel updater app.
It has a wonderful color control that I use all day depending on lighting.
What's the difference between Franco color control and AOKP color control?

They are the same really. But the app has a better layout and it works on ALL roms.
Also if u change the kernel on AOKP it won't work anymore.
I'll tell u how to get the Franco.kernel updater app in a PM. Okay???

You wouldn't if you have the Franco.kernel updater.
Get my PM???
If I flash Kernel and Rom, can I still exchange my device if I'm not satisfied?
YES.
But make sure you unroot. Use wug's toolkit to do that.
Guys, I just flashed AOKP and noticed the purple is gone. Should I still flash franco for better battery life?

Iv been complaining about my battery life on various threads (its 7hrs Max... Minimal use). I keep my brightness at 60% otherwise I get yellow tints.
Ive been told to install a custom rom to hopefully save battery and adjust the colors to remove that yellow tints.
Im using Apex right now. I dont see an option to adjust colors.
Suggestions?
Some AOSP ROMs and CM9 have the option. Hope that helps!

I think every rom has them at this stage.
If you use franco kernel the controls for the colours for his kernel are in his app.
Thanks. I saw the GlaDOS kernel (love the name). And I was going to try that with its app but its not free.
Ill try your suggestions. I was just curious if any one rom over others had better battery life then expected.
Franco's app isn't free either but its only like 2 dollars. That's nothing.
Some rooms have colour control built in like cm9
Now sure where to put this since I'm a noob and can't post in certain sections.
I am having problems with the Trinity kernel. I can't adjust the display options or vibration. I have attached screen shots to help me explain what's going on.
Help please
I'm not sure what ROM you're running but Trinity's settings can be changed via the TKT app from the Play Store or via terminal commands. If you look in the Trinity thread and look for simms22 he has a link to some of the commands in his signature

you are probably using a rom that has a CM kernel..you can only control CM color settings within the rom settings...you can't control kernels like trinity, franco, glados...you need to either get one of the kernel apps or do it manually in the file

I flashed Trinity when I flashed CM10 so I'm not sure what's going on. My phone states I'm running trinity. So....I'm not sure?! I'll look around at some different roms and kernels for fun. Thanks!
The one “erases" the other. You flash trinity, you have to use the tkt app to adjust all that. The cm built in function stops being usable then.
Hey Guys!
I have a Galaxy Nexus running Stock Jelly Bean JRO03C. Not Rooted, not Unlocked.
So now I want to install a custom Rom and Kernel to get more out of my phone. I came from moto Defy and saw the possibilities of Custom Roms.
My Questions are now, which of the many Custom Roms?!
I want a stable one, where everything is working and I want the battery life like in Stock JB+Stock Kernel or even better, if possible.
My Phone has to be smooth like stock JB.
Is it even necessary to flash a custom Kernel? (I don't really know, what it does )
So can you guys recommend me any good, smooth and stable custom roms? (Only thing I really would appreciate are power toggles in Notification bar like in Cyanogenmod)
could you please post a link to rom and kernel?
Kind regards!
CM10 + Franco/Trinity
The tons of locked ROM/kernel posts didn't give you a clue not to post this?
Every phone reacts differently to ROMs/kernels. Every person uses their phone slightly differently, which gives different results depending on ROM/kernel. The only proper answer is "try them yourself and see which works best".
Also, think of the pandas!

ah forgot to ask for that.
Could you pls post a link to rom and kernel? And can you tell me the advantages of your suggested rom?

awh yeah, i'm sorry for asking. Thought I'd get help here.
You really want stable rom? Stock. No doubt about it. You only flash custom ROM if your want more customization. Battery life can't be better than stock unless you underclock or undervolt.
Also there is no best ROM and kernel. It's what you like the best and the one that suits you the most. Please keep that in your mind.
If you only want custom ROM for notification toggles, seriously check out apps like power toggles. Works and works well
It isn't necessarily to flash custom kernel, but it'll give you ability to overclock and stuff. That's what it's all about

There are only three things I miss in Stock, coming from Cyanogenmod 10-Defy. The T9-Dialer, the toggles in Notification bar und the Battery Symbol in percent.
The apps for the toggles and battery percent annoy me, because they use the top left space of notification bar and don't fit to the design of JB in my opinion

If you're coming from cm. Just use cm. It'll probably be best for you.
Swyped on my Galaxy Nexus running AOKP with Franco Kernel, overclocked to 1.4GHz
OP, please read up and try them. Opinions will vary, as well as how they perform on your particular device. Thank you for understanding.
is it just me but i think my S3 screen is too vivid in color?? too much red (i notice on actors face), green and blue specially when watching 720P or normal 480P rip movies??
im using 404 V70 rom from wild if it matters..
No its not just you. Im using stock at&t s3 and colors are just too vivid, like you said. Especially red. Display on my i777 was much nicer.
If you are on stock LH2, you can install Morfic's kernel and change the gamma hacks to hue your colors towards more R,G, or B. Obviously, you need to be rooted and know how to install kernels and such.
Much the same as with Voodoo kernels on earlier Galaxy devices.

ThanKs. not sure if my rom will do this though (xquizit v70) but im surprise with so many roms, dev, fix and hacks here that no one made a universal fix yet?? It's really not that good watching movies on the s3 specially if the scenes are with many red blue colors... Even just looking at photos too? Colors are just too dark...
hoping wildchld is reading this and maybe incorporate the fix to his rom..
I would kinda like Samsung to take action and come up with a fix in their JB update..
It'd be hard to fix, my screen is perfect.. They could add sliders and settings though. Kind of odd my tv and monitor let me adjust but my phone doesn't.

Does it correct the colors on its own or is there a setting that comes with the kernel that you can adjust yourself?
That's just the nature of superAMOLED.

Hi,
anyone knows how i can change the vibration intensity of the soft keys? its now too high for liking, making the phone seemed somewhat hollow when i press the soft keys. I think the minimum intensity is also too high coz i cant make it any lower with swiftkey settings too.
Do i have to root it or anything i can do?
Thanks!

if you could root there are amazing custom roms on HTC 10 rom section... i don't like the default vibration intensity but then even before i inserted the sim i unlocked and rooted htc 10 so....
The default vibration setting on the stock rom is a staggering 79% Waaay too high! The best kernel for adjusting your vibration intensity is the ElementalX. Yes, you will have to root your phone to install the EX kernel. The vibration was driving me crazy. Of course, my girlfriend liked it, but that's another story. d'oh!
Using the EX kernel you can do this.....

Can this kernel work with all custom roms or specific ones? i have flashed roms before but never flashed kernels before, appreciate some guidance on this!

EX works with all of them. Just get the EX Kernel Manager from the Play Store and you're ready to roll.
