Display with yellow spot bottom left - LG Optimus G (International)

Hi all!
I´m a proud user of the E975 after 2 years of LGOS
Unfortunately now an error occured I can not stand - after using 10-15 Minutes a yellow spot appoears. It absolutely depends on the temps of my hand.
If I store the device at my work (abou 27°C) the spot already is shown. Then 5 minutes in my hand are enough to bring back the ugly thing...
Could you give me any advice? W-Support (repair center in germany) told me that the display works within the LG´s standards. Has anyone notices such display bugs as well?

Dead Pixel - Please Help!!

Hey,
I have had my device for one week, so under DSR working days I should still have time to return.
I have discovered a dead pixel at the top of the screen, which is always blue - I will try and get hold of tMobile tomorrow but wondering if anything else I can do or if It can be sorted.
The pixel appears blue on bright backgrounds, and is annoying - but i'm pissed because i got it last saturday, so its 7 days till now, may be on my own grrr - They state that the 7 days cooling of starts the day after the phone arrived, so its now 8 days so today is fine, however DSR states working days, minus weekend and good friday I should have a few more days - None the less hoping to get it replaced? Oh, forgot Easter Monday too :S
I've emailed tmobile and will try and phone them now, hopefully CS is still open.
Thanks
Also, I think it just developed or something, wasnt there before? - When screen is black, its not visible, when screne is red visible as a black spot, when screen is blue not visible, when screen is white visible as a blue spot - Ran that JScreenFix app twice both times for 20 minutes, no change :S

Sorry to hear that
JScreenFix is only for when the pixel is stuck not dead,
from your description the dead pixel is RED not BLUE.
I am just curious as to why you say PLEASE HELP!! it's not like we can help you. Just return it for warranty or replacement.
Its panic - and when one does it they become ignorant
Well, I've contacted TMobile, they have no HTC Desire stock so cant exchange it now, however I'll call back tomorrow and a note has been left incase I'm out of the 7 working day DSR period.
Spoke with a lady who hadnt the idea what a dead pixel was and said "in the meantime ask HTC if there is a solution"
Thanks
I have also discovered a dead pixel in the middle of the screen. Can't see it unless you really look for it. It is only visible on a white background and shows up as pink... lol
Will they exchange mine under warranty? I don't want to call them now, I will use it for a few more months and then exchange it for a new one.
Doesn't there have to be 3-4 'Dead' pixels before an item is deemed 'Faulty' and any returns is at the manufactures discression?

Basically - yes. It also depends how many and the type of defect within an area. If you have 2 at opposite ends of the display - this could be ok, however if they were close together - could be classed as a defect. Its basically up to HTC and what their criteria is.
I would have thought they would replace a dead pixel, even if it was only one. Let us know how you get on with your replacements.

No way in hell will they swap it for a new one if it's a few months old. Do it right away and they MIGHT, maybe.
T-mobile agreed to swop mine out 3 weeks ago but haven't replaced it yet due to lack of stock. Whilst I could chase them I'm not overly rushed as I still haven't received my screen protectors yet!

I have a red pixel.. what does that mean? I have had it for a long time but im not sure if its dead or stuck..? thanks in advance
dead pixel means that nothing is shown the pixel is only ever black... stuck pixel means that it only ever shows one colour...
that was the definitions i was last told anyways!!
You both have dead pixels. I think it highly improbable that they will ever become unstuck. Hehe.
If you can take it back then do so quickly because only a new screen will fix it.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
If the pixel is red, or any other color except white or black, it probably is a stuck pixel. And I read the beginpost quickly, and if I remember well (it's pretty late here, sorry for any possible mistakes in my post), the pixel sometimes changed.
If that is the case, it is absolutely not dead. If an app which 'wakes up' the pixels doesn't work, I don't know what will. And last, I wonder if your provider or the manufacturer will repair this for free. I read somewhere that there have to be a certain amount of dead pixels before it is accepted for a free repair.

[Q] Appearing and disappearing white pixel?

Hey guys, today I noticed something weird on the left-est (if that's even a word) panel of my HOX. When i click on bottom half of the screen, a white pixel appears and stays there until i touch the screen again and sometimes the white pixel just flashes! This only happens on the 1st panel (from the left) and I don't know if it's just a glitch or a hardware problem. The thing is, this is my second HOX (I had another one for 1 week before replacing it (it had a small black circle-y spot) ) and I had it for more than 2 weeks and the returns policy of the store I bought it from says that they can't replace it if it's more than 2 weeks old. Any ideas if it's hardware or software related, or even ways to check so?
UPDATE:
I think you'd want to know that I have an HT23 model
I had a similar problem with a bright red pixel at the left of the center of the screen. It usually appeared when I am not touching the screen and disappears when I do. After the screen got a yellow tint that appeared next to the volume up button which got worse the hotter the phone got, I took it to the shop and they replaced the "touch, battery and speaker". Touch pretty much means screen as well, I have no idea why they changed the other 2.
It's definitely a hardware problem since I had a similar issue with a stock phone. Btw the yellow tint appeared after 5-6 months, the red pixel was there pretty much from the beginning.

So should I go and ask/demand for a replacement? It doesn't bother me, I don't even use that panel at all, what annoys me is the fact that this is the second HOX I've had and it also has a problem!
It's a hardware fault go and demand for a replacing (HT26+/SH26+).And, if someone later on (in this thread or else ware) suggest to use a software to fix it. Don't bother with it.
I have HT25 with yellow tint showing from time to time. It's annoying me, and still I didn't get the chance to give to to HTC care.

[Q] Display gone

Hello
YES CALL ME A NOOB IF YOU FEEL LIKE OR IDK WHATS THE WORD USED AROUND HERE FOR A NEWBIE
Well since yesterday my Xperia S display has the yellow tint issue I think it happened because of overheating. I left it connected to HDMI port for very long time but I had it connected for long time earlier aswell but didn't had this yellow tint issue.
I only came to know about this today and found it is an known issue. I was planning to get my whole body changed since 1 month as I don't want to buy a new phone I was quite satisfied with it but now I'm depressed as the whole things messed up.
Okay enough stories so what happened is the yellow tint stayed till today around 7 and now the display is totally gone I can only see the lights with black displa I mean its alive. I feel the vibration while trying to turn off or on whatever. I even watched a movie with it on my TV as it was clear on the LED TV.
I went to the service center and the chick did nothing but gave me her lovely smile and telling me it will cost 12000 RS INR, the display was there till then it went away after I got home.
I'm dying here depressed wondering if I have unread messages of chicks.
Now I saw a few displays of the phone on ebay around $35-$55 which wouldnt be more than 5000 RS INR.
I don't even own a credit card but I'll manage if you guys think I'll be able to replace the display myself and there is an complete guide here that will help me replace it. I've done a CDROM and HDD thing on PC but gluing and delicate things scare me and I just don't trust the normal shop keepers here they will charge me way too much and I'm 101 % sure it will cause problems in future.
So please help me. It's been only 7 hours without my phone and I've smoked 12 cigarettes in its depression.
Hoping for positive response.
Thankyou in advance.
Ok so your problem was a yellow tint and now a dead screen?
Well yellow tint is caused by high temps, aka direct sunlight and summer heat
Dead screen? Try shining a torch on the screen its self see if your backlight is broken (no light = very dark screen)
You may be able to replace the LEDs instrad of the whole screen
Ill try to find a guide for you

Well touch and everything seems fine. I couldnt sleep last night so this idea of connecting to hdmi came up.
Everything on tv screen was clear and my touch on the phones were resonding smothly which I could see on the tv.
I'll be really mad now if an easy fix is there and with less cost as I was just not able to live without it.
I went to this place in my city and He is changing the display for 4.5 k INR which is better than 12 k that sony was charging.
NO guarantee or warranty but my friend has his xperia sola display changed from there and it works like a charm however theres a thumb impression on it which the guy said can be fixed by gluing it again.
but my friend just using it for time pass like I just want to use this for some more time till a better phone comes which will make me buy it.
thankyou for your time.
LOL Unread messages from chicks haha. You want to buy another phone? Buy it. You don't deserve the SONY XPERIA S.

That burn in is really bad. It's got to be a problem with your screen, and not common to all G4s or we'd be seeing others complaining by now.
I've seen phones that bad in stores, but their screens are on all the time. How much screen time have you had with Opera running?
Good thing the provider is replacing it!

hmm not that long troug. if i use opera a while not it disappears almost completely.
use it agian 2 minutes. its bck
and restarting my phone does not help.
removing opera does also not help.
if i got my new phone no opera anymore.
I just can't believe that's from Opera alone. There had to be a problem with the LCD in your phone.
I understand if you don't want to risk it by using Opera anymore but I don't think it'll happen with your new phone.

Lcd on mobile phones normally never get burnins, it's an amoled thingy (samsung phones) and it's an important reason I wont get a note 4 but a G4, so I really hope it was a single defective screen.
Did you try one of the screen retention fix app?
Did you try a factory reset? Call me crazy but it's not normal that a screen burnin doesn't affect white pixels, and it shouldn't do a green stuff, it could be a crazy bug

That's not "backlight leak" or "light bleed" as it's generally called. It's a bad LCD panel.
FYI This is how light bleed on the G4 can look like (It's mine).
I have a new device. So it's solved. But I see more people getting problems with the screen.
That's more likely to be just image retention and not an actual burn in.
Burn in = actual damage since the material gets burnt out than the rest of the other materials in the screen.
Image Retention = the liquid crystals on the LCD haven't fully returned to their original state for the meantime only.
A burn in commonly happens on crt, plasma, oled screens. For the reason that these technologies "burn" a specific material on their screen to produce output. LCD screens like IPS are very less likely to have burn ins but image retention is always possible but not permanent.

So is image retention common, because I've never had this problem until I got the G4 which is my first flagship: every other phone I've had was a budget and never had a problem like this.
I've never had image retention or burn in on any of my LCD phones but have had it on all my OLED/AMOLED phones.

LG used this "Quantum Display" of theirs (A modified type of IPS LCD) which had a different arrangement of pixels and whatnots which would have likely been the reason why image retention was much more common on theirs than other manufacturers' IPS displays, but in return.. the color gamut of their display actually expanded in range and also provided less energy consumption.
Same here LG G4 "screen burnes" all the time!!! - previous screens stay faded over current screens, just like on my old plasma TV... WTF???
I don't know what is screenburn but sometimes I see vertical narrow black stripes popping for a second in the same place, any thoughts what this can be? Is that a faulty display or some software bug, anyone had this issue?
What did other people who had this issue?
Now I'm also having it. Own the phone since ~11month. I recognized it 2 weeks ago, researching the problem. Before I though it would be a graphic error.
Have the plan to write LG about my issue. But have rooted the phone the official way. I must lookt at the LG root condition, I think this is still covered by waranty even with root because of HW issue not caused by root.
BR
I had a image retention issues on my screen (few months ago came from service for bootlooping) AND I have bootloader officially unlocked. And they still changed my display. But I live in Finland EU and we have this mandatory 2 years warranty regardless of rooting the device. Only if they can proof that rooting caused the device to broke then its not covered by this mandatory manufacturer independant warranty.
But image retention or bootlooping aint such a case and they replaced my MB and now my screen.
It just shows how **** the G4 is in case of build quality, I have experienced screenburn and I'm after a bootloop issue as well, so glad my OnePlus 3 is coming at Monday. G4 has a great development and thats why I love it I wouldn't buy ever again.

What is dying? Display or graphics chip?

Hello guys!
Background
___________________________________
I'm here to report a sad thing that is happening to me. I'll try to keep it short.
I bought my Zenfone 2 64/4 and got it by first days of october. It's one of the best and fastest phones I've ever used. I noticed the display came defective with the lower left corner a little dimmer than the rest of it, but I couldn't care less because increasing brightness would solve my problem. The bad part was on about december or january when I dropped my phone, I did drop it twice: it slipped from my hands the first time but it was a light fall of like 30 cm; and the second was from greater height and so intense it got scratches on the back cover and the frame, (the impact was on the case and it got no scratches, none at all, like ZERO) but the screen remained intact.
After that second fall, maybe a couple of weeks later, I started to notice a weird color "seeping" and some vertical lines. The screen tarted to look like a painting on a canvas which got splashed with water and the colors started to "fall" and merge with the ones below.
I've been living with my screen like that for like 4 months now and no problem at all, I was thinking about buying a new lcd replacement. But wanyway.... now for the important part.
Problem
________________________________________
Now, after I opened my phone and tried to "connect" the loose cables from the screen (after an impact, it's possible the cables to ge loose), noticed that the screen didn't get better and that problem was not going to disappear. After a failed attempt to repair it, I sealed the phone again and some days passed (like less than 4). Suddenly, I notice weird glitches on the screen and uninstalled CyanogenMod 13 and reverted back to ZenUI, since I though CM 13 was causing the graphic glitches. After restoring ZenUI, I notice the glitches are still present and it's driving me crazy. It only happens on a certain portion of the screen, the top of it is working correctly. Aaaaand, to feed my paranoia, I've seen picture on Google of dead graphics cards and those weird glitches are similar to mine
TL;DR
________________________________________
I am scared, I want the problem to be the screen and not the GPU; if it's the GPU (or CPU), I am screwed. This phone was supposed to be my girl's gift after I got an LG G4. Gonna upload a video later, so you can see the problem. :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying:
Why don't you submit you Asus at service center ??
I don't think they will ever help me since I rooted my phone and installed CM. Void warranty.

Flash the black splashscreen zip through whichever recovery you use first in case you still have the white asus splash screen indicating your bootloader is unlocked. Try and flash stock rom on your phone and remove root through Supersu app after this and hope they don't check if your bootloader is unlocked as that's what counts. Take it back to the shop. All the best

Actually, I don't have an USA address. ASUS loves USA but not México nor South America. Bad luck for me.
Proof
Here's a proof that this display is acting B-A-D-L-Y.
