Thank you. - About xda-developers.com

This forum saved my phone. This was my first internal issue with the phone. All I can say is thanks, and my Galaxy S2 and I appreciate it. I did figure it out myself in the end but without this place, I'd still be mourning my phone. Thank you.

Help with Recovering Video

So I have a weird case. My grandma passed away last Saturday but before she passed away I recorded the priests blessing and words to my family using my phone. At the end my phone froze and the file didn't save correctly. I have the file but it's corrupted but I was wondering it was possible to recover uncorrupted data from the phone and retrieve the video...
It would mean a lot to me and the rest of the family that couldn't be there.
Thank you!
Sorry to hear, first thing I would do is get the file to my computer and see if vlc can play and/or repair the file. Beyond that, you'll need some professional help to see if its even possible. Make sure you back up the original file just in case you figure it out in the future.
thank you!
I really hope someone here can help me out. So far my efforts have been fruitless
If you can send me the file then I can take a look at it.
I'm not a professional by any means, but I've taken a few data recovery/computer forensics courses and I'm pretty good with stuff like that.
If you don't want to send it because it's too personal or any other reason, no worries. I'm just trying to help out. I can't promise a solution, but hey, it's free
Send me a pm if you want me to look at it.

I have 2 questions...

Okay, first question; Does anybody know if the Desire HD will get CM10 or when Team IceSense will finish theirs?
Second; Do you think I will be able to get a Sim card reader slot fixed? And if I can will I have to Un-root my phone?
Please help me. I'm stuck with this stupid Xperia X10.

I was gonna answer but then I kept on reading and decided to do you a favor for the long run.
Try using google to find those answers.
Edit: buddy, I went through your previous posts. It seems that you need some guidance. Read up a bit in google about rooting and other things - mainly because there is a lot of reading involved. Once you have done so, come back here with your questions, I/we will try to help you.
The main thing here in xda is about reading and comprehending. If you can't do that, there isn't much we can do for you.

[Q] Upgrade Vibrant to SGS3

I'm very close to doing this, but would like to know how to transfer my apps from Vib to S3.
Vibrant ROM is Bionix V Fishman mod4 with Bali 1.8.8. I have Titanium pro; is that the best way?
Tried searching for this using "Upgrade Vibrant to SGS3", "Transfer Vibrant to SGS3", "Move Vibrant to SGS3", "Update Vibrant to SGS3".
No relavant results are returned. Maybe my verbiage is not correct.
Any suggestions? Thank you.
I came from a Vibrant too, so here is my story.
I backed up all my apps with Titanium and copied everything off my Vibe's Internal to my PC. Then I got the SGS3 and plugged it in to my PC to let the drivers install. I then copied everything that I felt was neccessary (I did some house cleaning of things I didn't really need anymore) over to my SGS3 Internal. Then I disconnected and mounted my External. From there all I did was sign into the Market, downloaded Titanium (obviously after I rooted) and restored my User Apps and Data. Took all of 20 minutes.
Thanks Woodrube; I recognize you from the multitude of helpful posts in the Vib section.
I had a notion this is the process but wanted to hear from someone who already had this experience.
You can also just back up everything with titanium but to the sd card, then when you get the S3 just put the sd card in and restore after you root

Thank you. Initally I was thinking along these lines. Have YOU actually done this?
As you can see from my current ROM, I haven't flashed for quite some time so I'm a bit rusty. Looking for advice from the more experienced folk.
Both you and Woodrube offered suggestions that to me seem spot on to what I thought was the correct process.
Love the support from this community.

I have moved from my optimus v, to the motorla triumph, to the s2, and now to the s3. From each one i would backup with titanium to the sd, and after getting a new phone and rooting it, Iwould just restore my apps+data. There's no way in hell I was starting over in all my games lol

HELP, Made a Rookie mistake and bricked my phone

Hi all,
I could not believe that I just made such a huge mistake.
I was curious to try the UltimaROM and downloaded it. It has so many features and for the first time in my life I did not check that this ROM is for I9100 and not the t999.
I was also curious to update the CWM and asked it to install the "latest one" which is one of the features in the menu.
Once it asked to reboot, after the install - the phone never woke up again. I cannot get it into recovery or download mode. The power button just do not respond and I do not feel the short vibration that usually occurs when the phone is being turned on.
I'm on a business trip for the next 4 weeks and now I'm stuck without a phone...
Does anyone have any idea how to help? I'm lost without the phone (and yes, I know I should have not done that when I'm away from home and I should always check the phone version.. I did a silly thing but can anyone please has any idea how to recover?)
Thank you in advance.
You can't without JTAG or whatever it is that's talked about in every thread like this one. Its dunzo while on your trip :-/

Same Rookie mistake.... I guess.
I have the same issue.... Everything seemed fine until I hit the "Reboot now" button and WHAM! Nothing. Mine is the Sprint LTE version, but the Guide I used from the Mod Dev himself didn't specify that this was for a specific S3. It was however mentioned in the comments AFTER the tutorial. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You can send it into mobiletechvideos. They'll do it for $50 I think. They're in Texas though so shipping may be a pain. But still better than getting a new one.
EDIT: it is actually $60 there. Here's the link http://mobiletechvideos.mybigcommerce.com/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-jtag-brick-repair/

Yeah you have no choice but to send it in for repair either to samsung or to other repair place, such as mobiletech videos. I hard bricked mines a while and sent it to mobile tech videos and got it back within a week from the date I shipped it to them. I did pay for express overnight delivery though. You can also try jtag but that is known on helping with soft bricks, you've hard bricked yours, but hey you never know. There are no other options you can do.

Try removing the battery and putting it back in. Then push power, boot into recovery, and restore nandroid.

[Q] Phone is rooted + running ROM, but system says unrooted

If this is in the wrong place for posting, please feel free to let me know.
A few months ago I tried to root and put a ROM onto my Galaxy S2 but I suppose something must have gone wrong. I'm not used to rooting, especially since the phone I had before this one was an Evo and much easier to root. Regardless, my phone is a Virgin Mobile phone, but I was assured that the Sprint ROM I am currently running would work on my phone. I flashed it and it booted fine and has actually worked pretty well ever since.
My only problem is that when using a root checker, I notice my phone shows up as unrooted. I have no idea where I should go from here. If I should treat it as a truly unrooted phone and try to re-do everything, or try to flash a different ROM made specifically for my phone. I'd rather not take a chance on bricking my phone and thought I would ask for some opinions and hopefully get guided in the right direction.
Thanks in advance for any help, and sorry if anything I typed here is unclear. It's a pretty weird thing to try and explain.
(I have actually made a similar thread back in March, but got no responses. Not sure if it's still okay for me to go ahead and make a new thread for this.)
Before we do anything; sticker on phone chassis under the battery - what model ?

I apologize that it took me this long to reply, I have a hectic work schedule. Thanks for responding.
The model number listed is SPH-D710.
No probs. I had an inkling you might be in the wrong forum hence I asked for confirmation of which S2 variant you have. US variants have their own fora, so your thread belongs here, you're more likely to get accurate/specific help in the right place.
I've asked mods to move your thread, sit tight until they do.

I must have completely skipped over it, thanks. Hopefully someone there can help. I'm hoping to sell this phone soon and don't want it to give the new owner issues.

Well, darn. I'll still check back on this thread but so far I'm still pretty lost, even after numerous searches online.
