So I have a weird case. My grandma passed away last Saturday but before she passed away I recorded the priests blessing and words to my family using my phone. At the end my phone froze and the file didn't save correctly. I have the file but it's corrupted but I was wondering it was possible to recover uncorrupted data from the phone and retrieve the video...
It would mean a lot to me and the rest of the family that couldn't be there.
Thank you!
Sorry to hear, first thing I would do is get the file to my computer and see if vlc can play and/or repair the file. Beyond that, you'll need some professional help to see if its even possible. Make sure you back up the original file just in case you figure it out in the future.
thank you!
I really hope someone here can help me out. So far my efforts have been fruitless
If you can send me the file then I can take a look at it.
I'm not a professional by any means, but I've taken a few data recovery/computer forensics courses and I'm pretty good with stuff like that.
If you don't want to send it because it's too personal or any other reason, no worries. I'm just trying to help out. I can't promise a solution, but hey, it's free
Send me a pm if you want me to look at it.

Glad you find it hysterical, I've rooted every phone I own myself, the evo, the droid, G1, and the My Touch, just can't get the incredible to be seen in ADB. But glad I gave you some laughter for the evening, but seriously, if nothing positive or helpful to say, why bother?

I'm not trying to be in the least bit unhelpful or rude. Inviting people into your home to root your phone could be a very dangerous idea. You have no idea who these people are and what they want from you in return for rooting.
I wasn't trying to be going against you having root. It seems like team unrevoked is working on making root simpler; why not just wait until they are done? It may save you a stranger in your home doing whatever he may to your home, computer or phone.
Never said anything about my home, but I get your point, and appreciate you pointing that out, and unless they have a rooted incredible in hand would be nothing to discuss, and I figure $25 for 15 min of someones time is a very fair rate.
im sure someone will respond bouchedag, i've rooted 3 phones already from people that needed help in forums, too bad you dont live in socal. Best of Luck
Awww come on lol, noone around here
I'd gladly give you a hand, but I'm in Georgia atm. Taking an east coast road trip by motorcycle starting the first week of July. I have family in VA Beach and will be in town before the 10th. If there isn't an easier way to root by then I could give you a hand for free.
Finally rooted!
Big thanks and mad props to askani53, Thanks to him I now have full root, and thanks to the whole Unrevoked team for giving us a 100% fool proof NAND Unlock!!!!
More info please. I am also in Hampton Roads (Chesapeake), and have given up on trying to root after several wasted nights trying. Did you find someone local to help you out?

Your welcome. No need to thank me, though, all I did was tell you over the phone what worked for me and it happened to work for you.
Please share
This is how I did it.
With the phone on, enter adb reboot recovery in the cmd prompt. When you see the white screen, pop the sd card out, wait 5 seconds, pop it back in. After you here the Windows ding indicating a connected device, enter adb devices in cmd and your device serial number should appear indicating that you have adb in recovery. If you continually get " List of devices attached" with nothing else, hold Vol + and hit Power then select reboot on the phone. Right before you see the Verizon screen, you can enter adb reboot recovery in cmd and start all over. It might take a few tries to get it, but I was able to get adb in recovery over half the times I tried. All other methods failed for me.
Here is the original post on Android Central: forum.androidcentral.com/htc-droid-incredible-roms-hacks/17483-easy-way-get-adb-recovery.html (I will apologize for being new and not able to insert a link). It is probably posted somewhere around here as well. Hope it helps.
hi everyone! I am seeking your expertise as I came upon this forum trying to help my son fix his phone. He's only 11 years old- but as we call him at home our "tech guy". He got a brand new HTC One M8 (carrier is ATT) yesterday and 3 hours later - the phone was "bricked" as I have been told. Apparently, (these are his words) he "unlocked the bootloader using HTCdev, then flashed twrp, then flashed supersu.zip.
I have no idea what any of that means but apparently he did something wrong because his phone is not working and we don't know how to fix it. If you have any compassion for a frustrated Mom who's trying not to be angry with her son -- I would appreciate any advice you can give on how to fix this.
I have attached a picture of what the phone looks like when we turn it on. I also posted this under the ATT forum too.
Thanks in advance for your help!
You bought your 11 year old son an M8?
Do you adopt?

Going by the pic, the bootloader has been relocked. So that's a problem. The bootloader will need to be unlocked again. I would suggest heading over to Youtube, as I have found video tutorials the most helpful when I was learning this stuff. There are plenty of videos that are even specific to the M8.
Edit: I should also point out that a phone can almost always be saved/restored if it still powers on. So don't panic. It would probably be in your best interest though to find someone experienced to fix it. Trying to explain the process to fix it here is not going to be helpful to someone who doesn't know what they're doing. If you can't find someone experienced, then my best suggestion, as stated above, would be to watch some Youtube tutorials on unlocking/rooting the M8.
Okay. In all seriousness.
When was this screen grab taken? In other words, is this your current position with the phone?
Relocked... etc etc
Are you in the US on AT&T?
Your tech son needs to restore ATT backup.. Hopefully someone in that forum has it

UPDATE on my son
Thank you all so much for your responses! It is much appreciated. Believe it or not - this kid fixed it all by himself. Basically (remember I am not technical) he unlocked the boot loader then flashed a ROM onto an SD card and was able to load. Don't think I worded correctly - but I think you know what I am talking about -- it's fixed and working fine. WHEW!!
I guess he "retraced" the steps he did last night and was able to get it. Actually it's strange the first ROM he put on wasn't allowing him to find or pick up wifi. He found another and got it. This kid is good!
I will certainly keep the info to this forum handy because something tells me that I will be visiting again with this child..................
Have a great evening!!
p.s. I typed the wrong key -- he's 12 not 11 And - sure I'd adopt! But he did save up his own money to get this phone and only wanted it to do these "cool" things as he says to it.....rest of my family - we are simple and use Iphones -- sorry.
All I can say to this is Wow!!

I'm glad to hear everything worked out for you and your son.
It's great to know that you're letting your kid tinker around as he is. I know these are quite expensive devices, but we often do learn from our mistakes, and that is even more true when it comes to technology. I'm sure that I have a bit of a bias being a software developer, but tech is such a huge part of life now, and that is only going to become more so with time. So getting an early start as he is, your son is going to have a leg-up in the world, even if he doesn't choose this type of field as a career path.

Agree! But keep an eye on him, so that he sleeps from time to time. And hide your car keys!
Please don't create multiple threads asking the same question.

Thanks!! He's very into all of this stuff and always has been from a very young age -- started with Legos at 2. He doesn't play sports and this is his "thing". He really LOVES all this stuff. He's actually really good and understands most things. As you can see - we certainly have issues now and then but overall we certainly let him "tinker". I really should write stuff down so we can laugh about it in about 10 years. We tried to limit his Internet time a couple of years ago and added a password on his computer that we had to input on his computer to gain access. Little **** put a keystroke logger on the computer to get the password. Then he somehow modified the main password screen to say PENIS when we logged on. The stories go on and on....... We will let him continue his technology building and hopefully he really have a bright future in technology!
Thanks for all of the input and support from this forum!

I was the same from an early age and always have been. I have taken apart or modified more household items than I can think of. I broke a lot of stuff messing as a kid, but now I have a lot of knowledge and can fix almost any thing properly.
It seems you are not so bad yourself with the technical stuff as most moms wouldn't have a clue or even be able to repeat what you have explained here.
I have a SGS3 from ST my sons friend thought he was some kind of genus phone god and was gonna, so he said make it faster. all he did was soft brick it. moral there is never forget your phone at home while at work.
It took me almost two years I believe but I got a rom on it. I went with wicked sensations 5 and anaconda as a theme. It made the phone fast and looks awesome cudos you guys, great design. There is just one problem its on sprints atm's and I cant for the life of me figure out how to change it. I tried every trick I could think of. it wont allow me to use any program off Google store and it wont allow me to do it manually. The mobile settings arnt even even there and there is no manual place to manually change any thing please guys I am begging for help. mean while I am wasting my $45.00 card and money does not come easy to me I am disabled for the time being while my neck and back heal. So please please tell me how to change to ST numbers I have the numbers it just doesn't give me a place to put them.
I'm thinking that you are talking about APNs not ATMs. I have placed a link in the post that may help you out. I see you are posting in the Sprint forum and the link is for the Verizon S3 so this is mostly a "here is basically what you're looking for." You will need to flash the ZIP file while in recovery for the APNs to work. In my experience I have always had to flash right after I initially flash the ROM but before I reboot, other people may have had other experiences. You might try a google search for: Straight Talk APN S3 Zip verizon/sprint/at&t/etc.

On a side note, your post has some errors with the terminology and grammar used. The biggest part here is using the proper terms. I think you would have better success if you did that.
I'm sorry if I come off like a mean person but I want to be helpful. I really do wish you the best.
Look, I know I tried and failed miserably to get something going for the previous first generation Revvl, and I probably let a whole lot of people down... but after my recent successes with the Orbic Wonder and Vortex Synq, I couldn't help but try and take this on because it's too tempting
Like before, I don't have this phone myself (I'm on Verizon now), but if anyone has one and wants to see if we can get something going let me know and we can work together. Even if we can only get root access and maybe a custom recovery, that would still be better than nothing. Since my last attempt at the Revvl line I've learned a few new things and have a couple more tricks up my sleeve. I can't guarantee anything obviously, but if anyone wants to give it a shot we can certainly do so. I'm personally down for Round 2 at this point if any of you out there are
I found a couple at a local pawn shop for cheap. If you think you can get Majisk on them, I'll pick one up!

Depends how cheap, because there's no guarantee I'll be able to get Magisk on them. Not sure how the odds will be. If you're talking like $20 cheap then yeah go for it, even if it fails you can have a backup device to screw around with. Any significant amount of money, don't risk it.
Help
Anyone knows how to solve this
Is this dead?
I realize it's been a hot minute since this thread was active, but I have this device and if there was a way I could get it rooted it would be greatly appreciated
I just picked up a new revvl plus 2..I'm search of a successful root process either via an app or a Manuel breakdown on using my PC.. preferably PC tools ....I'm trying to get as much up to date info as possible any help in this would be great and appreciate..
Thanks for any help in advance.

Hey guys, im pretty sure i know the answer to this question but i was hoping for some help anyway. I managed to encrypt my phone and restart it and now i dont remember the password.
I have a bunch of my kids baby pictures on it and im desperate to try and unlock it, is there any chance there will ever be discovered some exploit or if anyone knows how to get into it?
I know about bruteforcing the screen lock with a kali phone but i cant seem to get it to work.
If anyone knows a way, ill be forever grateful, even if i need to keep it for 20 years until someone finds an exploit.
Thank you guys.

Having kids means having a really good reason to have some sort of photo backup. Typically I'm very skeptical when retrieving photos of kids as the reason to bypass lock screen security.

To be honest i fell into a short but very bad meth addiction stint last year, i had recently upgraded from OP7 and got paranoid and started screwing with security settings, because of being wound up on meth i forgot the password almost immediately after i changed it, literally seconds after.
Because of my meth addiction creating paranoia i didnt backup my stuff ever, now i do selfhost a cloud at home where i got automatic backups, i learnt my lesson. I wanted to avoid judgement therefor i didnt mention it in my initial post.
Im not a petty thief, father of two and got a steady job, i just fell into the darkness for a while because of depression and PTSD. No stolen devices here, i could probably even produce a receipt for it if it helps.
