Switching phones SIII to Note II - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Well my contract is finally coming to an end (August 2013), I am looking at the Note II my question is, if I backup all my apps, games, text messages and Swiftkey dictionary using Titanium Backup will I be able to import them into the Note II without any problems? Or does the Note II use a different kind of APK/File?
Also will it be better to wait for the Note III?

I'm sure you'd be fine with TiBu.
Regarding the note 3, If it were me id wait

All Android devices use the same APK files.
Limitations are mostly software (newer apps on old Android versions) and sometimes hardware due to lack of a particular sensor on the device the app needs.
In your case, you should be OK.
As for backup/restore using TiBu, as long as you plan on rooting your Note II, you'll be fine.
Otherwise, you may want to look at Helium as your backup/restore solution : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.backup

The Note has a locked bootloader FYI. And from my experience with my dad's Note II the stock TW has way more bloatware than I remember the S3 having. I'd get an S4 instead (or wait for the S5).

Are you already rooted? If not, while rooting you will be loosing all that data you want to back up. If you're not rooted, then go fetch Helium from the play store. It can back up all that sort of thing without root.

Do a backup in recovery on your s3 save to external SD card. Root your note 2 download nandroid backup in play store on your note 2, insert SD card. I have a note 2 and a s3 and I'm constantly backing up all my data and switching phones every couple weeks. Nandroid backup, backs up apps data texts and call records. If u have any questions just message me. I do this all the time without any problems

I am rooted already and have nandroid back up. What Mike said has me thinking is the Note bootloader locked? Or will I be able to unlock it via Odin?

There is a sticky for other device discussions

Switching Carrier and Phone need help getting data

I am switching both carriers and phones. I am moving from ATT with the SG2 to T-Mobile to the SG2.
I have invested tons of time setting up my ATT version and loads of data in my apps. I am not worried about the Mail/Exchange part I realize I will need to redo that part. What I am hoping someone can help me with a way to move over is the following: (Also I am NOT ROOTED)
1. Touchwiz screens
2. Application data from Market downloaded apps
I realize I can reinstall the apps but the data from the apps is my issue. I track expenses etc using several apps.
TIA,
ED
Without root you're sol mate

a couple of things re: data
as far as emails goes, if you are hooked up to Exchange Server or Gmail
your email resides on the server side, and stays there.
but if you are using POP3 emails that have been downloaded to the phone and removed from the server, then you will be stuck, unless you get Titanium Backup (which needs root) to migrate the emails over to the new phone

Well thats not the answer I was hoping for. I would prefer to not root install Titanium and reflash since I am returning the SG2 back to ATT. I don't want something to go wrong.
I'm still hoping for a better answer.

Backup questions - from stock to new rom

I have a 2-3 weeks old gnex unrooted with stockrom.
I want to root and switch rooms, but keep my app data.
Is there anyway to do this?
Google has a backup service, but i have no idea how it works.
There are mainly 4-5 app datas i want to keep. incl Wifi data, gta III, World of goo...
Is there anyway to root without data wipe?
Thank you
You can try this or you may have success using mybackup from the market. I'd have thought that the phone could be rooted without unlocking but a little searching seems to reveal the opposite.
Thanks will try that! Cheers

Sim toolkit not working after rooting?

I am not completely sure wheter this happeneing after changing my mobile call and data plan or after rooting but I think it happened after rooting. Namely, the sim toolkit previously worked and I could access data on how much I had spent etc...now it doesn't. Is this common and is there a fix other than flading custom roms etc...I quite like the phone the way it is. Thanks all!
Try rebooting without sim card and then rebooting with it.

Nah I require root. I guess it is a sacrifice I have to make to have root. I don't understand though... I thought it could be because of Root call blocker as well but I disabled it and no change...
You can reroot lol

That doesn't make much sense to me, I already have stock rom rooted?
If this helps, I checked my applications and this application is supposed to be 0,00 B in size. I don't want to mess around if there is a chance I brick my phone. I will be the first to admit I am not too good with all this. Rooting was about top of my ability. So if anyone can help a damsel in distress out with a simple solution, I will be grateful.
I found stk.apk in system/app/ with root explorer, what will happen if I click instal?
Does this make any sense to anyone? I did do OTA update just before I rooted: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=34909
Try installing it

The issue resolved itself when I removed GoLauncher. Don't know why. For now it is OK.
The issue returns itself. It turns out it fixes itself if I put the phone in airplane mode, restart it, then after it restarts, turn off the airplane mode (which requires sim code then). OK so I know what to do now, but it is slightly annoying that this keeps happening. Basically it happpens after every reboot if the phone is not rebooted from airplane mode. Any ideas?

Migration to LG G3 w/o Root

I am used to having root so backing up and moving to a new phone was easy. I am using the Sprint variant so root is not available yet. What are other options to transfer data from my S5 to the G3?
Usb cable to computer. What are you transferring? Most of my stuff is Google contacts, drive, or on dropbox. If you want things like app settings transferred, I'm not sure if it's possible unless an app specifically has that feature.
App settings, gmail account info, etc. I am thinking that I am going to need to reset it up manually. If I could only find the wireless back for it locally, it would make it worth it. That is the big draw back of switching from my S5.

just wait root should be here for you soon maybe by the end of the weekend
Why don't you use the SD card slot? Copy everything you need from S5 on a card, put it in the G3, copy back, done.
You can try this for most things. Plus it allows you to wirelessly transfer backup between devices.
My Backup Pro
It also has a free version but I don't remember what is missing in it since its been a long time I have been on a paid version
