Gs2 messaging port - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Does anyone have a galaxy s2 messaging app port for the galaxy s3 i miss that landscape feature where you can see other conversations.
And also does anyone know how to fix lte on aosp roms i cant figure out how to get 4g like example on touch wiz roms i get 4g lte but on a rom like slim rom or cm 10.1 i get bars.. but no connection when i use the browser its frustratiing
My concern is the messaging app but if 2 birds can be shot down than kudos

I'm fairly sure if you just grabbed the SecMms.apk for the S2 it would work fine, or be mostly functional.

Okay so just spent the last hour searching..the web and didnt find anything. So i remembered that i have a bunch of roms on my pc from when i had the e4gt, and i pulled the mms.apk ( because on that device its mms.apk not secmms.apk) placed it under system/app with root explorer and it didnt install. I moved the original file out before making any changes.
i found a great working mms.apk tho just not what i was looking for.

Did you set permissions, and reboot after you placed it in system / app ?

Did you try to rename it SecMms.apk in the system/app folder, set permissions, and reboot?
Edit: Didn't see prboy's response lol.

[Q] sigh...process com.android.phone FCs after call

I checked around, even googled, I did find similar topics but I have yet to come across a solution. I just installed the ACS updater and installed the nebula theme for my Epic. since then after I end a call i get the process com.android.phone has suddenly stopped working! error. It even got worse to the point where I couldnt even dial out. I enabled journaling and re-flashed to SFR 1.2, everything worked fine. Tried installing that Nebula theme again and came to the same error. I have no idea what to do with Journaling but I hear everyone recomending it. Any suggestions to fix this?
It's because srf has carrier IQ removed. If you delete the problem apk's from the theme before flashing it you should be fine. Although that particular apk won't be themed...
Edit: system/app is where you will find it. I don't remeber the name of the apk tho... I know if you look through maddogins black bionic theme thread it is discussed in there and someone linked an alternate themed phone or dialer.Apk that doesn't fc.

Look in the nebula thread some one posted a fixed dialer in there. Start from the last page and go back. Shouldn't be to far back.

so after many efforts I am still stuck with this error. I read thru the suggested threads I was able to fix my camera (which I didnt even know was an issue untill I read that thread so thanks for that lol)
I tried to merge the dialer like they said and I still recieve the same error.
thanks for your replys guys!
try posting in the nebula thread then maybe darkierwar can help you out if he sees it. Sorry it didn't work, dude. Good luck.

I think it's the dialeractivity.apk and the phone.apk. I had this issue when I was building Dark Horse 1.2. I replace the the apks with the apk's from a different rom (can't remember which), themed those and the problem was fixed.
im not sure what to do with that. I've got a phone and dialer apk that work, how do I theme them? This is just too confusing

You can drag and drop the png's from the themed version to the stock version you want to use as a base.
Extract the themed apk with 7zip, open the stock apk with 7zip, drag and drop just the pngs in the drawable folders into the same place in the apk you have open with 7zip. Close it and place it in the system/app folder of thr theme.

Samsung Apps like Mini Diary, Memo...

It looks like these apps on other GSII devices aren't on our SGSIIE4GT? They seem like they maybe useful to me, is there a way to get them?

You could go to the GS2 development forums here on XDA, search for a stock rom, download it and extract the .apks.
.....
If u do get it post it up for me

Here you go, memo may need to be pushed to system/app or you can do it with file explorer.
Mini diary force closes. Anyone else have it working?

It worked fine for me with stock rooted ROM and zedomax/kernel, however, here is a version with the corresponding odex file.

Yup Yup, I almost **** myself last night thinking I got it all figured out. Then I tried to call the local time/weather hotline because it was colder than a mug & noticed I couldn't make a damned call. Good times.......
I got this too work with no problem. Once you download it, with root explorer copy the current contacts.apk and place it into a spare folder. Once done, rename the ics dialer so it shows Contacts.apk and then copy it. Navigate to /system/app and change to mount r/w, click paste. Select the ics contacts.apk and select install, agree to have it overwrite and then it may come back as not installed. Click home and you will notice your phone and contacts icons are gone. If you go into the app drawer you will see the ics apps. They function without any fc's for me so far

Well I followed your steps here and everything functions for the most part except when I try to make a call and then hit the phone icon to make the call, I always get a fc. It either doesn't recognize the key press as I don't see the phone icon light up green or it does light up green, the icon stay's lit then still get a fc.
Otherwise I can make call directlys from the contacts fine. Seems to be a issue with the phone button function as I can use all the other buttons fine on the keypad, text button works fine as well as the end, speed dials work too. Well, almost there anyway. I'm going to restore by backup contacts until this gets figured out, otherwise I'm pretty excited about the new look of the dialer.

The only thing I couldn't get to change on the dialer itself was the top tabs. Think I read somewhere once that was theme related I dunno. I'll look through it all again tomorrow morning when I get home from work

#1 Open root explorer
#2 navigate to where you placed the file provided by whatamonster here
#3 copy the file and navigate to root/system/app (make sure to make a backup of original before pasting) also make sure you hit mount r/w in the top right corner too
#4 Rename the original to Contacts.apk.bak
#5 enjoy !
Good stuff, works great! Thanks.

#Havingablast w/ my SGS2
i was attempting on going through the systemui and framework and finish off the theme for the dialer/contacts and the rest of the menu's but then it occurred to me that everyones using a different rom which meant different frameworks and ui's and thats alot of work going through each rom like that
i really dont have the time to go right at it. but i'll work on it slowly i guess
glad its working for everyone so far tho enjoy.
Looks GREAT! Any chance that this will work on the sgh-i727R? It's rooted but otherwise stock .

Softkey question.

When I first started theming the nexus I would go into the .zip of the wanted rom and replace the softkeys. It was very easy because they were all named ic_sysbar...
I have had trouble locating these files for awhile now but have gotten by with the great rom control or toolboxes built into roms. However, I would like to know what these pngs are called now, and where they are located, with in the re.apk.
Could somebody tell me? and is it still as easy as replacing these pngs to make it work?
I know these are noob questions but I cant find the pngs
-Thanks
Please move this thread to Q&A. Thank you!
I'm not of much help on this, but if I were you, I'd delete this thread and put it in Q&A; maybe even Themes and Apps. You're going to get flamed for posting in development, so I'm just trying to help out.

I'm taking it that you got it from PhAkEer's post from the thread?
And by elaborate, are you needing help by placing the file in the proper location? I prefer to use Root Explorer for such tasks.
And I believe you have to set the permission of the file to rw-r--r--

Sorry here's a little more info.
I've gotten up to that point using Root Explorer. I figured i could copy permissions set for other apps. Was that wrong? I've never had to do that before. One thing I wasn't sure about was the other two files(com.joko & com.Funmade) Do they stay in the extracted folder or should they be moved into the system/app folder? I was able to add a settings widget and a randomize widget only. Nothing seems to apply when i go through the settings.
** I remembered having read about widgets not working with the new launcher, so i went back to the old launcher now everything seems to work. I'm still unsure how to set it up as the lock screen though.

I apologize but I'm not back on S5 at the moment. And you're right I believe . That was an apk, not an .so file that I listed the permissions for. Let's see if we can't get PhAkEer to respond..
:edit: I sent a pm asking if they could provide the answer
In the mean time, I'm thinking that the other two don't have any bearing.. here's his post.

Not.flash.
Unpack zip, put lib in /system/lib
PLACE the siso apk in /system app and set permissions.
The other two should just compat with package handler

Unfortunately with version .8, things went, well, wonky. Technical term of the day.
It is a great rom, but couldn't get root to stick for unknown reasons. Not saying you can't root after flashing but VeNuM also had other issues, so best not to put it out for the masses.
Not speaking for him but I think S5 achieved the goal of what he meant the rom to be.
Phakeer was working on trying to patch things up in .8 but don't know the current status.
