I'm taking it that you got it from PhAkEer's post from the thread?
And by elaborate, are you needing help by placing the file in the proper location? I prefer to use Root Explorer for such tasks.
And I believe you have to set the permission of the file to rw-r--r--

Sorry here's a little more info.
I've gotten up to that point using Root Explorer. I figured i could copy permissions set for other apps. Was that wrong? I've never had to do that before. One thing I wasn't sure about was the other two files(com.joko & com.Funmade) Do they stay in the extracted folder or should they be moved into the system/app folder? I was able to add a settings widget and a randomize widget only. Nothing seems to apply when i go through the settings.
** I remembered having read about widgets not working with the new launcher, so i went back to the old launcher now everything seems to work. I'm still unsure how to set it up as the lock screen though.

I apologize but I'm not back on S5 at the moment. And you're right I believe . That was an apk, not an .so file that I listed the permissions for. Let's see if we can't get PhAkEer to respond..
:edit: I sent a pm asking if they could provide the answer
In the mean time, I'm thinking that the other two don't have any bearing.. here's his post.

Unpack zip, put lib in /system/lib
PLACE the siso apk in /system app and set permissions.
The other two should just compat with package handler

Unfortunately with version .8, things went, well, wonky. Technical term of the day.
It is a great rom, but couldn't get root to stick for unknown reasons. Not saying you can't root after flashing but VeNuM also had other issues, so best not to put it out for the masses.
Not speaking for him but I think S5 achieved the goal of what he meant the rom to be.
Phakeer was working on trying to patch things up in .8 but don't know the current status.

I hate to say it but I actually prefer the candy coating user experience of Sense to that of Stock Android. While playing with CM5 there were many things I liked and many I didn't. As a result I went back to Sense. Perhaps it just because it's what I have grown to know over the last couple days.
Anyway, the one thing in CM I really did like was the Photo Gallery, which included Picasa. Anyone know what I can do to get that Photo Gallery into Sense?
I think I might play with some other Sense ROMs today. Maybe someone has already done the work for me.
Thanks in advance for any help.
i may be able to make a zip for you. wow im busy tonight. i have to make a theme for the droid/milestone, a theme and two zips for sense roms.

I don't mind doing it myself. I just need a push in the right direction. I'm technically inclined but 3 days new to Android. What exactly am I looking for? Is the stock Photo Gallery a widget or app of sorts?
If you are willing to send me something later, that's cool too. I'm just trying to suck in as much info as possible. I don't want to cook or anything but I'd like to be able to have better control of what I can do to my existing ROM.
Thanks!

it is an app. if you want a zip i can make one. if not, the app is located in the system/app folder of cm5. all you have to do is put the app in the tools folder of the sdk and adb push gallery.apk /system/app in rcovery.

So I installed the app and it seems to be working just fine. Thanks.
I'd like a widget or something for it so it's open on a home screen without needing to open the app. Additionally, is there any modding of the app file that I can do fix or remove the camera button. It doesn't seem to work in Sense.
Thanks again for all your help.

There is the possibility it could also be a widget. I may be mistaken, but I think unless you actually installed the gallery, in order to use the widget you'd have to delete some file. Again, I may be mistaken, I haven't tried this.
EDIT: I'm just thinking this because I remember in order to properly remove the Facebook/Twitter/etc widgets from stock, one had to remove some sort of database to force a widget database refresh, because it only does that on a legit (un)install

Yup Yup, I almost **** myself last night thinking I got it all figured out. Then I tried to call the local time/weather hotline because it was colder than a mug & noticed I couldn't make a damned call. Good times.......
I got this too work with no problem. Once you download it, with root explorer copy the current contacts.apk and place it into a spare folder. Once done, rename the ics dialer so it shows Contacts.apk and then copy it. Navigate to /system/app and change to mount r/w, click paste. Select the ics contacts.apk and select install, agree to have it overwrite and then it may come back as not installed. Click home and you will notice your phone and contacts icons are gone. If you go into the app drawer you will see the ics apps. They function without any fc's for me so far

Well I followed your steps here and everything functions for the most part except when I try to make a call and then hit the phone icon to make the call, I always get a fc. It either doesn't recognize the key press as I don't see the phone icon light up green or it does light up green, the icon stay's lit then still get a fc.
Otherwise I can make call directlys from the contacts fine. Seems to be a issue with the phone button function as I can use all the other buttons fine on the keypad, text button works fine as well as the end, speed dials work too. Well, almost there anyway. I'm going to restore by backup contacts until this gets figured out, otherwise I'm pretty excited about the new look of the dialer.

#2 navigate to where you placed the file provided by whatamonster here
#3 copy the file and navigate to root/system/app (make sure to make a backup of original before pasting) also make sure you hit mount r/w in the top right corner too

i really dont have the time to go right at it. but i'll work on it slowly i guess
glad its working for everyone so far tho enjoy.
Looks GREAT! Any chance that this will work on the sgh-i727R? It's rooted but otherwise stock .
There were few requests to silence camera shutter.
I tried to make it completely silent but wasn't able to shut off autofocus_ok.ogg.
Any time I edit this file to take off sound it will break the camera.apk
I put together a small zip file the will flash modified camera.apk and replaced few system ogg files to take of most of sounds.
This will give you:
1. Video on - silent
2. Video off - silent
3. Shutter sound - gone
Then only sound left is autofocus. If someone more skilled will take if from here that would be great.
If you still interested you can download zip file here:
http://jumbofiles.com/3iellys5igbq
Copy/Move zip to root of your sd card and flash in recovery.
This should work with any ICS build.

Because not every one:
1. Has rootexplorer app
2. Knows how to navigate in system folders and edit stuff.
3. Not all ogg files are in the system and some of them are in app itself (autofocus_ok.ogg for example).

I'm not sure I understand the question.
If you mean GB builds than it won't work since it will flash an ICS camera.apk
Different builds and different API numbers.
But this should work with any of ICS leaks out there.

You can try to install it but you'll probably just get 'application not installed' or 'parsing error'.

Would THIS work for our phone? I am running JediX12 ROM but Im assuming it would work for any ROM and work in general as I poked around inside the apk with ninjamorph and an xml editor and found all the needed things to change. I just cant seem to get it to work and I would really love this mod simply for the SCREEN ON/OFF toggle. I hate that the screen turns on with a text and right now Im using SMS Pop Up to band-aid the problem but this would be a permanent fix! I'm sure other users would love this feature too! Plus there are a bunch of other cool features that could be implemented too, idk why Samsung didn't do this off the bat! Could someone with more experience upload a modified APK for me/all of us?
Thank you
Anyone have any ideas?
Well I know the screen on/off bit works on the T-Mobile UVALL4 4.1.1 SecMms (it's included in Tweaked fwiw), so I would imagine it to work on the international-based ones as well.
I figured it would work but I didn't know for sure. Problem is I can't figure out how to do it...I tried following the directions and I just can't figure it out I can't get the app decompiler to work. I messed with the xml using NinjaMorph on my phone and the things are there to make this work but I don't know how to do it. Maybe I will download Tweaked and just pull the apk out of there.

There needs to be certain apks on the device, if you are using a custom ROM, those apks may be deleted.
For reference, the dial codes on Samsung Roms seem to be died to the DM APKs. There are about 3 of them

I know that HiddenMenu.apk is the actual apk that holds all the activities inside it. There then is another service/receiver that actually listens to the numbers being dialed inside the dialer.

This is what I found seem to be related to Dialer codes, somehow:
Samsung DM * (both phone interface and Service)
HiddenMenu
Phone / Dialer (depending on rom)
Somehow these are all intertwined to work together.
The DM apks are responsible for the actual interaction between the dialer codes and the network (i.e. PRL Updates), but are also somehow linked to the function working. Ill play around with the apks a bit more and try to gather some more info.
ok guys, thanks to @tdunham here is how to get dialer codes working again. Go to system/csc/common/system/etc and copy SPR_keystrings.dat. Then paste it into the system/etc folder. Set perms to rw-r-r and that should do it.
Awesome. Thanks for that. I didn't get around to any detailed looking into this issue yet.

@Karlinski
If this takes care of this for you and so that others can know that this has been resolved, please advance edit the OP and tag the topic with the word <SOLVED> and something in post #1 as well with the resolution. Users have quite the limited attention span, they wont bother reading for the solution, they'll just ask instead of looking.
I'm still not sure how to do all of that I could not find anything in my settings about the dialer if you can help that would be awesome

That SPR file is already there in the ect folder and still don't work, even after an overwrite.
