oh rite, thats a balls. Dont think theres any other way. Try taking the phone apart and cleaning the buttons. ul be surprised at the dust there. Hopefully that will work. If it dont then the only other way is to flash an ruu via bootloader. What does ur phone say in bootloader?

Did you try running the adb commands that jmcclue listed above while in hboot?
Maybe try running fastboot commands such as "fastboot devices" to see if its recognized.

Hi Capone5,
One way to do it, is by downloading a recovery img ([url]http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1791371[/url] or [url]http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1474327[/url]) unzip and put it in the fasboot folder, plug phone in fastboot mode and type 'fastboot boot [filename].img'
Hope this helps

You dont do "adb fastboot devices". You do "fastboot devices"
adb only works when phone is booted or stuck at boot animation, thats why i said try turning on phone then try adb while it bootloops r stuck at splash screen but his phone boots straight into bootloader. Also there is no command for fastboot to reboot recovery. Personally i would take phone apart and clean buttons, worth a shot.
@ op what boes it say in ur bootloader ?

Would fastboot work without selecting it in hboot? If fastboot is able to detect the phone, then he can use "fastboot boot recovery.img" to boot into a touch based recovery like 4ext (without actually flashing it).
Heres his bootloader:
this i get when just trying fastboot devices

the buttons of volume are broken and i try everything to just press - and nothing hapened...how can i load a new recovery threw fastboot?
Check your android-sdk/platform-tools/ directory to make sure the fastboot.exe is there.
If its not there, redownload the sdk and setup adb/fastboot using this guide. Also make sure you install these fastboot drivers
Then try "fastboot devices" again and hope that the phone shows up. If it does you can boot a recovery by doing this:
-Download the 4ext recovery img from here
-Extract the zip and put the recovery img in your android-sdk/platform-tools/ directory
-Run "fastboot boot recovery.img"
If its not showing up in fastboot im not really sure that you have any options, other than to do what jmcclue suggested.

Hi people.
I got some problems and some questions.
Until now I was perfectly happy with CWM 2.5.0.1 Recovery, BUT, I found out about newer recoveryes, so I decided to flash one.
NOW!
I'm VERY pissed off because I can't flash it.
I tried unrEVOked method, won't work, it pushes recovery but gets stuck on WAITING FOR BOOTLOADER; MAKE SURE ALL DRIVERS ARE INSTALLED. And yes, I have all drivers installed (ones that came with HTC Sync and Android 1.0 usb driver) and I tried with unrEVOked 3.14 and with the latest unrEVOked. So, thats all about that method and we can see it DOESN'T work.
Off to the next one:
I tried flashing the image with terminal emulator. Once again I did all the steps good: Copied the recovery.img to the root of SD card, entered t.e. and wrote the command (su to get superuser access and then flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img).
Once again, NOTHING.
Then I tried using ROM manager from CWM. It flashes a recovery but I can only access that recovery through ROM manager but not through bootloader, that one gets me back to 2.5.0.1.
So I would REALLY appreciate if I can get some help.
Thanks in advance.
Regards from pissed off and unhappy me.

Seriously mate, just install Android SDK, and use the Fastboot option. Easy as pie and no issues at all.
Install Android SDK, then, get the Recovery.IMG file of the Clockworkmod version you want to flash. Place this in the SDK's Tools folder. Then, reboot your Wildfire in the bootloader mode, Enter Fastboot mode (Press Power button on Fastboot).
Then, open Command Prompt on Windows, cd (browse) to the SDK's tools folder and type the following command:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Done.

AFAIK, You dont even need SDK installed. Just the Fastboot and binary will do, which can be obtained here: (Still, not very sure of this process, as I had the SDK installed a long time back)

enough of number 1. :S
now
first line
su (ENTER)
by that i get superuser access
then in second line
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img (ENTER)
so now i get
operation done in next line
but phone should first: freeze for a bit
then get an empty line
nothing happens to me tho, and i tried to reboot in recovery coz i thought maybe it was a success, nope. same old stuff

please help!!! android SDK says (waiting for device) when my tattoo is in fastboot usb mode. it finds my device when my tattoo is on.
I've the same problem... If you have another way to flash recovery depends on S-ON/S-OFF stuff. Take a look at this thread the part 6: Custom Recoveries
If your buzz is S-ON (like mine) there isn't any other way but unrevoked but it doesn't seem to work, at least if your phone is already rooted
u do have all your windows drivers setup, do u?

The Phone must be S-OFF and must got ROOT access to use this
Here is the Solution .. ..
After this you will have SD-CARD RECOGNIZED+NO BATTERY DRAIN..EVEN BETTER BATTERY BACKUP See my screen Shots
STILL GOT PROBLEM UNSOLVED ..PM me I'll TRY TO SOLVE
SOLUTION
1. First of ALL..do install ADB in you PC and on your Device(If it is bricked.. don’t worry it has adb shel on this already) see help from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=690362
Note these commands carefully ..and save these as txt in PC for further help
adb devices
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot erase cache
2. Download these(http://www.multiupload.com/5ZAPJTFXMM) and put them into C drive after UNZIPING by 7ZIP...
3. Put a recovery.img named file of AMON RA recovery.. download from here(http://files.androidspin.com/downloads.php?dir=amon_ra/RECOVERY/&file=recovery-RA-desire-v2.0.0.img)
4. Reboot your phone in BOOTLOADER ...Power on by pressing FIRST BACK BUTTON and than POWER simultaneously..
5. Open Command Prompt in PC.. for Windows7 type cmd in search at START button... for XP type run at START search..
6. Go to the directory in cmd prompt....as...
“cd C:\android sdk\tools”
7. Type
“adb devices” Let it load
“adb shel” Let it load
“fastboot erase cache”
“fastboot reboot-bootloader”
“fastbooot oem enableqxdm 0”
“fastbooot oem eraseconfig”
“fastboot erase cache”
“fastboot reboot-bootloader”
NOTE: Do remember to do all above command together and by sequence only...
8. Now it is time to flash the recovery..
9. Rename the download recovery image as “recovery”
10. Put this img file in to “C\android sdk\tools” folder
11. Open command prompt again..
12. Type
“adb devices” Let it load
“adb shel” Let it load
“fastboot erase cache”
“fastboot reboot-bootloader”
“fastboot flash recovery recovery.img”
“fastboot erase cache”
“fastboot reboot-bootloader”
13. Now remove the SD card from the phone and connect it to PC via card reader or anything by which u can easily connect..
14. Put the ROM.zip in the SD card
15. Put the SD card back in the Phone..
16. PowerOn the phone in fastboot mode by pressing VOLUMEDOWN first and than POWER simultaneously..
17. Use volume keys to go up and down..and power to select
18. Go to recovey and press power button..
19. In recovery just go to the WIPE.. and do WIPE of cache..dalvik cache..boot..system...sd-ext...Battery Stats..
20. Now reboot recovery..
21. Now after coming back to recovery in Phone choose INSTALL ZIP FROM SD CARD..
22. Simply choose the ROM.zip file...
23. Let it Flash
24. Wait
25. And
26. ENJOY!!!!!
The PROBLEM IS NO MORE..
Your phone will RECOGNIZE the SD card..
The Battery Drain (Usually having 1% under a minute) Will be Gone
You can use FAstBoot Commander or Android Flasher also to Flash Recoveries or hboots and Bootloaders

for the battery Drain problem.. you can do following things..
1. Wipe Battery stats
2. Install snq kernel
3. If above two doesn't work than only... try the two "oem commands" as I writtten in the procedure..
Actually every time you flash a ROm or everytime deleting and using the phone.. a extra data related to everything as cache configuration is stored in the MEMORY which acually u can not see but it eats battery...
The oem commandsd erases that thing and after this..it is like a new memory having completely blank..
BUT AFTER DOING THIS YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RECOVER ANY DATA ON PHONE MEMORY IF ACCIDENTLY DELETED..
you will need to flash a new Inatall of same ROM..or whichever you want...

I am a bit lost...
ADB cannot be used when the phone is in bootloader. So after the instruction to put the phone in to bootloader the proceeding instructions which say:
type adb devices [enter]
type adb shel [enter]
won't achieve anything. In other words, adb devices (whilst the device is in bootloader) will not find any attached devices.
adb "shel" isn't a valid command. Do you mean adb "shell" ? If so, this too isn't going to work while the device is in bootloader, adb will simply reply with "error: device not found".
So I guess what I'm trying to ask is - what is the point of those typing those two commands? In this instance, they don't serve any purpose and can be omitted?

Assuming you are an HTC Desire HD or Inspire 4G user, are S-On, have an unlocked bootloader, and are stuck on the boot splash after flashing a ROM, you need to fastboot flash the ROM zip's boot.img as follows.
1. Get the boot.img: unzip the ROM zip on your PC and navigate into the folder from the file manager. You should see a boot.img file. Open a terminal there (in Windows, shift-rightclick in the folder; if using Linux or Mac, I expect you to know how to do this).
2. Put your phone in fastboot mode: connect your phone to the computer, reboot into hboot by holding power + volume-down, navigate to "fastboot" with the volume buttons, and select it with the power button.
3. Fastboot flash the boot.img: from the command window,
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
4. Reboot.
Note: you will need to do this each time you flash a ROM, but not each time you restore a nandroid.

I don't use this phone anymore, but look around the Development forums. The most active ROM threads float to the top. The OPs will give you a good idea of what each ROM is like.

If you unlocked your bootloader you are S-On. Make sure by rebooting into the bootloader (hold power and volume-down). Read my signature for the boot.img thing.

http://www.4ext.net/ddl/bravo/recovery.zip (extract the zip), and put it in the platform-tools folder of where your android sdk is.
Boot the phone into fastboot (hold power and back), then use this command:
Code:
fastboot boot recovery.img
Once your in recovery do a full wipe and flash a ROM.

It needs to be recognized by fastboot not adb. Download and install HTC sync then uninstall it leaving only the drivers behind. Also install these: http://downloads.unrevoked.com/HTCDriver3.0.0.007.exe
Then boot the phone into fastboot mode (power and back) and run "fastboot devices" to see if it's recognized. If it is follow the instructions in my first post.

Yeah, it's working, thanks a lot!
I tried to boot with "back + Power" several times.... but without USB connected...
EDIT: No, it wasn't regarding USB...
This only works from time to time, more less then more.. (hopefully you know what I mean)
Okay, now I have a way to get into the recovery, a big step forward!!
What now?
I'd like to "install" this recovery now, as I did before on my HD2 in the past but this is far long ago, so sorry for this stupid question:
How to replace the actual existing Recovery with the booted 4ext one?
On 4ext.net I found a way with a booted rom, but without...
Later on, I'd like to flash CyanogenMod 7, so I already downloaded the suggested PB99img_cm7r2.zip.
I remember this has s.th. to do regarding partitioning, right? What do I have to do with this file?
Can I flash this with fastboot ?
During usual bootloader startup it says "No image or wrong size"
AS you may see, I know a little, but it's damned long ago...
Sorry for my worse english, but I don't know how to describe this better
Hopefully you can help me anyway,
Thanks a lot in advance!!

Use "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" to fully install the recovery. Rename the hboot(partition) file you downloaded to "PB99IMG.zip" and put it on the root of your SD card. Boot the phone into hboot and it will search for the file. When it finds it select yes to install it then reboot.
Go into recovery and wipe everything except the SD card then flash the ROM.

Hi,
thanks a lot for these great hints, but sadly I'm unable since yesterday to enter fastboot mode
System always starts into HBOOT - and dies, weather I press any additional keys to the power button or not...
Any alternative way to enter fastboot mode?

I know and this worked yesterday, but it started with problems, as mentioned above.
Today I never had access..
Hey Guys, I did a factory reset and the phone went don't:
I can't access to Download Mode.
It doesn't charge
I Can't flash RUU (Because I can't access to the download mode)
I Can't access to the recovery.
It is stuck in this white screen.
*I tried installing the TWRP (Sucess!) , Installing boot.img (from Bad boyz ROM) (Success) but the error is still there, I can't access to the recovery neither.
It has S-OFF
It has unlock bootloader.
Any solution please?
HTC 10 Sprint version.

Do you have the android sdk installed on a PC? if so you can boot directly into the the ruu download mode without actually having to reboot into download mode.
From the bootloader screen connect your pc with usb c cable
navigate to where your sdk/platform tools hold shift and right click and choose open command prompt here
type in the command
fastboot oem rebootRUU

The thing is, the phone doesn't charge. So I tried to Run the RUU but it showed "battery below 30%" , I need at least the phone charge, But I don't know how.
you can also flash recovery from fastboot oem rebootRUU if you have a copy of twrp place it in the same folder as the platform tools and execute the command
fastboot flash recovery <nameoftherecovery>.img
then
fastboot reboot recovery
it should charge in recovery

do you have a rom zip saved on your computer? if you do place it in the same folder as adb.
run fastboot oem rebootRUU again
once it reboots into RUU run the command
fastboot flash zip <nameofrom>.zip

Also head over to omj'S thread and down the firmware in the zip file and put that on your sdcard if you have one. It should give you the option to install from the sdcard

I really appreciate your effort and your help for this issue.
I can't access to the download mode and recovery mode neither. It always stucks on the HTC logo, I only have access to the Bootloader mode (The White Screen) that's the problem. When I tried to enter to download more or Recovery mode, it stucks in the HTC Logo :/

I had a very similar problem as OP and I was able to get my HTC 10 (unlocked NA edition) to take an RUU after following this suggestion. Specifically I got the decrypt tool here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/chef-central/android/tool-universal-htc-ruu-rom-decryption-t3382928
