how to change carrier label - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

Can anyone help me change carrier label on sprint sph l900 stock rooted mc2 touchwiz, the carrier label on draw down and lock screen. I have tried to edit eri.xml in framework-res.apk it decompiles fine and recompiled fine phone boots thru splash screen and boot animation as far as where it says starting apps then loops

Ok so I edited the chameleon.xml in /carrier and rebooted snd carrier lable was changed but after afew seconds the phone rebooted itself and completely reset the nam
Update: I have successfully changed carrier label I again edited chameleon.xml but this time deleted chameleon.hash reboot and so far so good no reboots no resets and carrier lable is changed

No Mobile Data - Help please!

Hi All,
I got my Note 2 today, and have run into a problem already
Mobile data (HSPA+) was working when I first got the phone and used it between the shop and the way home.
When I got home, I switched over to wifi to download things.
I then flashed CWM from the cwm-root-note2.tar.md5 file in Dr Ketan's guide using PC Odin.
Then, I flashed Omega v3 via CWM.
All went without a problem.
I was still on wifi and downloading and installing all of my apps.
After a while I turned off wifi and I noticed that I wasn't getting any mobile data connection. I was getting 3 or 4 bars of mobile signal, but no 3G, H or H+ symbol to indicate mobile data.
I messaged a nearby friend on the same carrier and he said his was working fine. So, I figured I must have messed up the mobile network settings,
I checked the APN settings and they were blank, so I put them back in manually.
Still no data connection,
I went into CWM and wiped cache, dalvik and user data.
Still no good.
I downloaded the stock XXALJ1 ROM for Thailand (where I am) and flashed that, did another 3 wipes, but still no luck.
I tried doing a factory reset from the settings menu. But still no joy.
I put the SIM card into my Note 1 and it got a H+ straight away and data was working fine.(when the shop cut it down, they made a nice neat job of it, so the excess makes a decent micro sim holder). So, the network and SIM card are OK.
I noticed that when I first got the phone, the boot screen said "N7100" under "Galaxy Note II".
Now, it doesn't. I'm not sure when it changed.
I also noticed that when I do the under/factory resets, there are still some settings that aren't reset, For example, I set it to WCDMA only to see if that helped and then when I did a factory reset, it was still set like that, rather than the default "auto" that it originally comes with.
Unfortunately I didn't do a nandroid backup, as my phone came with XXALIH (without the multiscreen), so I figured I'd updated to LJ1 first.
Does anyone have any suggestions of what I can do?
Is there a full wipe ROM, or a way to reflash the bootloader and ROM?
It's 3am now, so I need to go to sleep, but this is annoying the hell out of me.
Thanks,
Rich

True Move H in Thailand.
I don't think it's a carrier issue, as I can put the SIM into my Note 1 and get H or H+ data connection straight away.
Also, I compared the APN settings and I have the exact same settings in the Note 2 and Note 1.
Mobile data was working on the Note 2 when I first got it.
Thanks,
Rich
Turn mobile data on in settings/data usage.
I doubt that his data is turned off in the settings is the problem since he already stated that he tried resetting to factory settings.
I'd suggest simply using odin to reflash J1 onto the phone and start from scratch again. This is why the devs always remind people to do a nandroid backup. In case of situations like this.

Thanks. Yes, Mobile data is ticked. I tried toggling that early on in case it just wasn't connecting properly or something.
I've tried flashing the stock J1 a few ties, but no joy.
It doesn't seem to do a full install, as the circle battery mod I installed previously is still there after flashing stock J1...
I'm downloading a stock XXALIE for Thailand at the moment and will try that.
It's still got 30 mins to go, and I have to leave for work soon! So, I might have to spend the day relying on wifi when I can get it
I'm wondering if the change in boot loader has anything to do with it. (Originally had "N7100" on the boot screen and now I don't, just "Galaxy Note II")
maybe APN settings are wrong? I'm from sri lanka, and I had to add an apn for mobile data to work.
OK, I finally fixed it. Here is what I did (in case anyone else has a similar problem)
Flashed stock LJ1 via odin
Downloaded Galaxy S/S2/S3 CSC
Reset my CSC to THL
Now when it restarted it picked up mobile data signal without me doing anything to the mobile network settings.
I reflashed Omega 3 and lost mobile data again. I tried the Galaxy CSC app, but it says there is only 1 CSC.
So, I went back to stock Thai LJ1.
This time I got an OTA update straight away. After that installed I noticed the boot screen had changed back to showing GT-N7100 again.
ROM is now XXALJ3 and the modem is DXALJ1
Flashed CWM and reinstalled most of my apps from Titanium Backup.
Everything is still OK.
So, it looks like I can't use Omega ROM because it changes the CSC and I can't change it back to THL.
Is there any way to install the CSC separately after flashing Omega?

[Q] Initially lost signal, ended up with unrecoverable boot loop

Hey guys,
This thread stems from this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=39594591&postcount=18
I'm gonna spare you the trouble of having to read that thread by summing it up for you:
- T-889V, running Jedi x12, had to pop out the sim to try it on another phone.
- Once popped back in, my phone lost all carrier connectivity. At first the signal icon looked like a "forbidden" sign. Then, after a little while, I get service bars, but no connectivity indicator.
- IMEI used to show up, but I still didn't get connected. Used my sim in a different phone as well as a different sim in my phone to rule those 2 out. As expected a different sim in mine didn't work.
- I go back to stock using mobile odin. My IMEI is now unknown, obviously I can't connect to anything and on top of that the phone reboots every 1 minute or so.
- I flashed some other rom I had lying around. My IMEI is back, bootlooping stopped, however I was still unable to get any service.
- Try a different version of stock with mobile odin the and I'm boot looping. This time I can't get into recovery at all.
- Finally I try desktop odin with a couple of different stock images, and I'm still bootlooping (reboots right after the Samsung logo). Recovery works fine.
I would send it back but I'm worried about my flash counter being 1, and my system status being "custom". I am completely stumped. Absolutely any ideas are appreciated.
Sometimes after flashing stock you have to wipe data factory reset to get it to boot. Just a thought.
Thanks for the idea. I have tried that
Have you tried flashing back whatever modem came with that Jedi ROM, along with either the stock T889V or an N7105 ROM?
Still getting bootloops?
In other words, get to a no service and no bootloop situation, and look into restoring NV items with the appropriate Qualcomm compatible programs.

But do you think it's possible to escape the constant bootloop? Right now I'm a little worried about flashing anything that will increase the counter, as I don't know if I'll get to run triangleaway ever again...
By qualcomm compatible programs you mean those 2 little tools that let you extract/write an IMEI as well as generate it as a text file?
The solution should be the same as the one I used for fixing my phone: using NV reader writer to rewrite correct stock settings along with your IMEI.
Warranty centres don't care about your exact counter, only if it's 0 or not, so flash away until you fix this. My counter was well over 30 when I finally did.

APN won't stick

I have unlocked s6 and APN won't stick. When put into network mode automatic I get to input APN and it works until I let phone turn off screen or I manually hit power button. When I get back into phone the APN setting I input, for t-mobile, are gone. There are Sprint APN listed but I can't choose nor add or delete any. If I choose LTE GSM auto prl through one of the service menu's I am able to again choose APN and input what I want but at sleep and rewake the phone goes back to not listing the APN and having greyed out sprint APN. Phone works but have data issues here and there and sometimes have to reboot to get lte to stick. Lock screen sometimes shows T-mobile as carrier but usually shows Sprint. I can still make calls and use LTE data on my t-mobile sim when it says Sprint as carrier but I think my data and mms issues would be fixed if I could get the dang APN to stick. Any ideas? Different rom? I'm on 5.1.1 OJ7

This is a really old thread, but since I've been struggling with this issue for several months, I think this is the place for a reply.
There are several problems with a "sprint" unlocked S6, but the most annoying (other than hands free activation) is the APN settings going back to default and being "locked" until you reboot the phone. When in this "locked" state - you will not be able to receive MMS messages.
I have found that deleting (or simply renaming) the customer.xml (/system/csc/customer.xml) stops the resetting of the APN - and interestingly opens up the additional configurations under Mobile Networks -> Network Mode to choose GSM/WCDMA/LTE.
After fixing this and fixing hands free activation (https://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-s6/help/hands-free-activation-t3199214) the phone now performs VERY well on T-Mobile, just like it belongs there
I just checked my device on 7.0 Nougat and I can't find that file (there is no folder in root>system called "csc"). Any idea how I can fix this?

You may not be allowed to view certain system files for some reason. I believe you have to be rooted to delete them. You could also try the system update first if you are stock. But probably best bet either way would be to start with clean install of whatever ROM you use or the stock ROM from TWRP. I've been able to delete the files from skyhigh and Rick Wardenberg's ROM. GL!:good:

Edit: I recommend es root explorer to do the dirty work.
if it's not too late
