[Q] any custom apn not working

Hi guys,
i'm going crazy trying to figure out what is wrong with my Desire HD.
On my sim card, i have 2 apns enabled: internet.vodafone.ro, vpn.vodafone.ro. The first one gives me internet access, the second one lets me read my work email.
Using the stock firmware, i've managed to get them both to work: just completed the apn, username and password fields, leaving everything else blank.
If I use any custom rom (Leo, core, pnk29(cm7), grh78,...) i cannot use the private apn. i've tried and tried all over again but it just doesn't connect (i get the "connection failure"). i've tried to delete user date, everything, but it didn't work. if i restore the original rom, everything seems to work normal...
Where should i start looking into because it is making me crazy...
thank you,

[Q] [Fixed] Help! Cannot Send SMS with any ROM!

Hey xda,
My Desire has stopped sending sms's since i installed MIUI-AU 1.6.10 - used many ROMS before but never had this issue.
The first time i switched to MIUI i followed the instruction to flash the corresponding *.DX.zip file before flashing the ROM [see their site] which i did, then flashed the rom - all seemed ok and since then every time i send an sms to any number, from contacts/manually typed or what have you it gives an error - 'message not sent'
Since then, ive switched to the updated MIUI-AU,MIUI 1.6.17 (running currently), RCMix..whatver is their latest build - and im sure the issue will come back with any other rom.
Now obviously following all instructions and all i must have skipped something that is causing this..
Before flashing miui 1.6.17 i wiped everything and my SD card is setup for A2sd with the right partitions and extentions
Im running a CM7 HBoot if that matters.
If anyone has a clue please let me know here - im happy to provide any more information...cheers
Fixed: Guys if you ever get into the Messaging settings>Advanced>SMS Message Centre..don't change the default number stored there - i just called up my provider (Telstra) and they gave me the correct number to use and now everything is back to normal
Did you try to get the settings from your provider? You could try to reset them if you have got an account for the internet portal of your provider. You could also try to call them.
I don't know if you need special settings for every provider, but you can try this.

Thanks for the reply - phones here in AUS will normally get the settings as soon as you insert the SIM card but because i had deliberately messed with the sms message centre number i had to ring them to get that...your post got me thinking what i had changed and it just made sense

[Q] APN Problems (CM10)

Hello lovely people,
[Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc, Unlocked BL, CM10, Australia, Optus 3G]
I've been stuck with this problem for a few days, I've been searching stuff everywhere and haven't found a solution. Just randomly I haven't got phone reception or anything and the APN list was empty. I've tried adding the Optus APNs but whenever I touch 'save' it just returns back to the empty APN list. Apparently this was a bug or something for Android 4.0+ So is there no way of adding new APNs?
I've also tried resetting back to the default APN list but it's still empty, and whenever I select the 'Optus 3G' network provider it appears to start "registering on YES OPTUS" but then says "Can't connect to this network now, try again later"
I swapped the Optus sim card with a Telstra sim card and then BOOM 3G reception and a list of APNs. I put the Optus sim card back, and then...nothing.
So anyone have a solution or any advice or something? I'll give you COOKIES!
I found this may help (I'm using the Optus apn settings and found that I have to put 029 for the MNC or the apn gets wiped. So it's not related to the age of the SIM. New ones don't work any better than the old, as far as the MNC value goes.)Note this is from somebody who had same problem as you dont know if it will work as I have a 3 sim worth a try.:fingers-crossed:
I had the same problem, this worked perfectly

Sorry for the late reply, I haven't had internet access for the last few days.
I tried putting putting the MNC as 029, still no luck :/
And yes, I always click menu then save, but the APN list is still empty.
I have since unrooted my phone and relocked the bootloader and factory reset it back to Android 4.0 and it is still the same thing, although now the phone won't even recognize the SIM card!

[Q] APN Woes on Toroplus

Hi everyone!
I've been having connectivity issues on my Sprint GNex ever since I flashed my latest ROM. I haven't been able to send any MMS, and any time I try to use the web I get error messages. I think that I've nailed down that it's an APN issue, and I've tried to follow the steps to resolve it.
I've tried APN Backup and Restore, but since I'm running 4.3 that doesn't work. I've also tried going into Settings > More > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names, but on every single ROM that I've used I have not been able to find the Access Point Names screen (as in it does not exist). Is there any way that I can get the APNs fixed an alternate way? Maybe something that I can flash from recovery? I feel like I've tried everything!
Do you have the ability to add a new APN?

New APN refuses to save and cannot edit existing NO MMS

I have a Sm-g988U that I have flashed to SM-G988U1 to run the OneUI 4.0 Beta and everything was working great but once I went to the beta I lost MMS. The MMS part of the APN that the phone Automatically loads is missing and the phone refuses to save any new APN. And Since it is a Verizon Based Sim (Visible) all the ways via secret codes to change things do not work. Ive tried everything. Someone help please!
